The paper deals with an approximate method for calculating elastic–plastic stresses and strains on the surface of notched samples. The method is based on the Abdel–Karim–Ohno cyclic plasticity model. The plane stress condition is considered within the evaluation. The output of the approximation on several multiaxial axial–torsion load paths is compared to our own experimental results. Experiments were carried out on samples of two notch types manufactured from the 2124-T851 aluminum alloy. Strain distribution in the notch area was measured by digital image correlation. The comparison between computational solution and measured response shows that the new method allows for obtaining reasonably good approximation, even for relatively complicated multiaxial load cases.  相似文献

In this work, a general mathematical model for functionally graded heterogeneous equilibrium boundary value problems is considered. A methodology to find the local problems and the effective properties of functionally graded materials (FGMs) with generalized periodicity is presented, using the asymptotic homogenization method (AHM). The present models consist of the matrix metal Mo and the reinforced phase ceramic ZrC, the constituent ratios and the property gradation profiles of which can be described by the designed volume fraction. Firstly, a new threshold segmentation method is proposed to construct the gradient structure of the FGMs, which lays the groundwork for the subsequent research on the properties of materials. Further, a study of FGMs varied along a certain direction and the influence of the varied constituents and graded structures in the behavior of heterogeneous structures are investigated by the AHM. Consequently, the closed–form formulas for the effective thermo–mechanical coupling tensors are obtained, based on the solutions of local problems of FGMs with the periodic boundary conditions. These formulas provide information for the understanding of the traditional homogenized structure, and the results also be verified the correctness by the Mori–Tanaka method and AHM numerical solution. The results show that the designed structure profiles have great influence on the effective properties of the present inhomogeneous heterogeneous models. This research will be of great reference significance for the future material optimization design.  相似文献

This article deals with the problem of predicting the brittle fracture of rocks and similar materials, which can also include frozen sandy soils. Such materials, due to the diversity of their conditions of origin, are characterized by natural heterogeneity at the micro-, meso-, and macro-levels, which makes it difficult to develop sufficiently universal criteria for their strength. Despite a number of known models and criteria of strength and fracture, the search for such criteria remains an urgent problem. In this paper, using the energy approach to the mathematical modeling of mechanical systems, the fracture criterion is justified, which differs from the known criteria that do not require integration to calculate the strain energy We and dissipation energy Wd. The well-known relation for the input energy W=We+Wd is used. The object of the study was the ratio of dW=dWe+dWd. The main research question concerned what the ratio of dWe and dWd would be at the point of brittle failure. The search for an answer to the question led to the justification of a differential energy criterion for the failure of brittle materials on the descending branch of the full stress–strain curve. It was found that the point of predicted fracture is determined by the equality σ=0.5 εEtangential (if there is an inflection point on the ascending branch) or σ=0.5 εEsecant_secant. The main result of the work was ascertaining the differential strength and fracture criteria of brittle materials in the form of inequalities and equations, which were oriented for application in engineering calculations. Examples of application of the developed criteria are given; their consistency with the experimental data known from the literature confirmed.  相似文献

Studying the stress–strain relationship of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP)-confined rubber concrete (RuC) plays an important role in its application in engineering projects. Most of the existing stress–strain relationship models are established based on the test data of FRP-confined rubber concrete with circular cross-sections, and the effect of the section shape is not considered. Therefore, an analysis-oriented stress–strain model of FRP-confined circular and square rubber concrete columns was studied in this paper for the first time. A database that includes the rubber particle content and section shape on the peak stress-peak strain and axial–lateral strain relationship of FRP-confined rubber concrete was established by collecting 235 test data from the literature. By modifying the key parameters in the existing FRP-confined normal concrete stress–strain relationship model, a unified stress–strain relationship model of FRP-confined RuC with circular and square columns is established. The proposed model is verified, and a good accuracy of the model is proven.  相似文献

The compressive stress–strain behaviors of early-aged cementitious grout specimens were experimentally investigated, and the differences of characteristic parameters of the stress–strain curve and the energy evolution law of each specimen under uniaxial compression were discussed in this study. The results indicate that with an increase in the specimen age, the peak stress, peak strain, ultimate strain, elastic modulus, peak secant modulus, strain ductility coefficient, and energy-dissipation coefficient of the prism specimens gradually improved. Additionally, a comparison of the test results of cementitious grout specimens and concrete specimens with the same age reveals that the peak stress, peak strain, and ultimate strain of cementitious grout specimens were greater than that of concrete specimens, the elastic modulus and peak secant modulus of the specimens were less than that of concrete specimens, and the strain ductility coefficient and energy-dissipation coefficient show no consistent conclusions with respect to the material type. Moreover, comparing the energy evolution curves of specimens with different specimen ages shows that the decrease rate of the elastic strain rate and the increase rate of the dissipated energy rate gradually decreased with the increase in specimen age. The elastic strain rate and dissipated energy rate of the CGM−270 specimen and control specimens were greater than that of other specimens, and the decrease rate of the elastic strain rate was less than that of other specimens. Based on the statistical damage theory, a statistically stochastic damage constitutive model was derived by considering the characteristics of cementitious grout according to the compression test results. A comparison of the proposed models with the experimental results indicated that the proposed stress–strain constitutive models were sufficiently accurate.  相似文献

Due to the rapid increase in population, the use of automobile vehicles increases day by day, which causes a considerable increase in the waste tires produced worldwide. Research studies are in progress to utilize scrap tires and waste rubber material in several fields to cater the pollution problems in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. In this research, the shredded waste tires were used in concrete to replace fine aggregates in different percentages. The fine aggregates in the rubberized concrete were replaced 10%, 15%, and 20% by rubber. The stress–strain behavior of the concrete models is then determined and compared with the already established analytical models, i.e., Modified Kent and Park Model, Mander’s model, and Razvi and Saatcioglu Model. A total of 12 standard concrete cylinders and 18 models of each type of concrete, i.e., normal concrete, reinforced rubberized concrete with 10%, 15%, and 20% addition of rubber, were fabricated. Specimens fabricated in each replacement of rubber were laterally confined, employing 3 in (76 mm) and 6 in (152 mm) c/c tie spacing. The model and cylinders were subjected to uni-axial compression tests using Universal Testing Machine (UTM). The drop in compressive strength, stress–strain constitutive law, strain limits, and overall behavior of the rubberized reinforced concrete were explored experimentally. The results were then compared with the analytical results of the established models. The research can help explore the possible future for the use of rubberized concrete for the potential application as a structural material.  相似文献

This paper presents new methodology for determining the actual stress–strain diagram based on analytical equations, in combination with numerical and experimental data. The first step was to use the 3D digital image correlation (DIC) to estimate true stress–strain diagram by replacing common analytical expression for contraction with measured values. Next step was to estimate the stress concentration by using a new methodology, based on recently introduced analytical expressions and numerical verification by the finite element method (FEM), to obtain actual stress–strain diagrams, as named in this paper. The essence of new methodology is to introduce stress concentration factor into the procedure of actual stress evaluation. New methodology is then applied to determine actual stress–strain diagrams for two undermatched welded joints with different rectangular cross-section and groove shapes, made of martensitic steels X10 CrMoVNb 9-1 and Armox 500T. Results indicated that new methodology is a general one, since it is not dependent on welded joint material and geometry.  相似文献

xPb(In1/2Nb1/2)O3-(1−xy)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3yPbTiO3 (PIN–PMN–PT) bulks possess excellent electromechanical coupling and dielectric properties, but the corresponding epitaxial PIN–PMN–PT thin films have not yet been explored. This paper adopts a nonlinear thermodynamics analysis to investigate the influences of misfit strains on the phase structures, electromechanical properties, and electrocaloric responses in epitaxial PIN–PMN–PT thin films. The misfit strain–temperature phase diagram was constructed. The results reveal that the PIN–PMN–PT thin films may exist in tetragonal c-, orthorhombic aa-, monoclinic M-, and paraelectric PE phases. It is also found that the c-M and aa-PE phase boundaries exhibit a superior dielectric constant ε11 which reached 1.979 × 106 with um = −0.494%, as well as the c-M phase boundary showing a large piezoelectric response d15 which reached 1.64 × 105 pm/V. In comparison, the c-PE and M-aa phase boundaries exhibit a superior dielectric constant ε33 over 1 × 105 around um = 0.316% and the piezoelectric response d33 reached 7235 pm/V. The large electrocaloric responses appear near the paraelectric- ferroelectric phase boundary. These insights offer a guidance for experiments in epitaxial PIN–PMN–PT thin films.  相似文献

To improve the wear resistance of high-strength and high-conductivity Cu–Cr–Zr alloys in high-speed and heavy load friction environments, coatings including Ni–Cu, Ni–Cu-10(W,Si), Ni–Cu–10(Mo,W,Si), and Ni–Cu–15(Mo,W,Si) (with an atomic ratio of Mo,W to Si of 1:2) were prepared using coaxial powder-feeding laser cladding technology. The microstructure and wear performance of coatings were chiefly investigated. The results revealed that (Mo,W)Si2 and MoNiSi phases are found in the Ni–Cu–10(Mo,W,Si) and Ni–Cu–15(Mo,W,Si) coating. WSi2 phases are found in the Ni–Cu–10(W,Si) coating. The degree of grain refinement in Ni–Cu–10(Mo,W,Si) was greater than that of the Ni–Cu–10(W,Si) coating after the effect of Mo. The excellent wear resistance and micro-hardness of the Ni–Cu–15(Mo,W,Si) coating were attributed to the increase in its dispersion phase, which were approximately 34.72 mg/km and 428 HV, 27.1% and 590% higher than the Cu–Cr–Zr substrate, respectively. The existence of silicide plays an important role in grain refinement due to the promotion of nucleation and the inhibition of grain growth. In addition, the wear mechanism transformed from adhesive wear in the Ni–Cu coating with no silicides to abrasive wear in the Ni–Cu–15(Mo,W,Si) coating with high levels of silicides.  相似文献

The microenvironment of the oral cavity is altered when an implant, a biocompatible foreign body, is inserted into the mouth. Bacteria settle in the tissues in and around the implant due to the passage of microorganisms through the microgap at the connection of the implant and prosthetic abutment. To prevent colonization of the implant by microorganisms, one idea is to use sealing and antimicrobial materials to decontaminate the implant–abutment interface and close the microgap. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy and permeability of different types of sealing materials at the implant–abutment interface, under static conditions. Three different sealing material (GapSeal gel, Oxysafe gel and Flow.sil) were used for sealing the implant–abutment interfaces in 60 titanium dental implants, which were first contaminated with a solution containing Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans for 14 days under an aerobic condition. Results showed that a complete seal against bacterial infection was not formed at the implant–abutment interface, while for fungal infections, only GapSeal material helped to prevent microleakage. Findings of this in vitro study reported that application of sealing material before abutment connection may reduce peri-implant bacterial and fungal population compared with the interface without sealing material.  相似文献

Background: To simulate mechanical shocks on an intracranial implant called WIMAGINE®, Clinatec chose a Johnson–Cook model to account for the viscoplastic behavior of grade 2 titanium in a dynamic study using Radioss©. Methods: Thirty tensile specimens were subjected to tensile tests at room temperature, and the influence of the strain rate (8 × 10−3 and 8 × 10−2 s−1) and sandblasting was analyzed. Relaxations were included in the tests to analyze viscosity phenomena. Results: A whole set of parameters was identified for the elastic and plastic parts. Strain rate influence on stress was negligible at these strain rates. As expected, the sandblasting hardened the material during the tests by decreasing the hardening parameters, while local necking occurred at an earlier strain. Conclusions: This article provides the parameters of a Johnson–Cook model to simulate the elastoplastic behavior of pure titanium (T40, grade 2) in Finite Element Model (FEM) software.  相似文献

Metal–metal composites are a class of composite materials studied for their high ductility and strength, but their potential applications are currently limited by the complex manufacturing processes involved. Electro-sinter-forging (ESF) is a single-pulse electro discharge sintering technique that proved its effectiveness in the rapid sintering of several metals, alloys, and composites. Previous studies proved the processability of Ti and AlSi10Mg by ESF to produce metal–metal composites and defined a correlation between microstructure and processing parameters. This paper presents the wear and corrosion characterizations of two metal–metal composites obtained via ESF with the following compositions: 20% Ti/80% AlSi10Mg and 20% AlSi10Mg/80% Ti. The two materials showed complementary resistance to wear and corrosion. A higher fraction of AlSi10Mg is responsible for forming a protective tribolayer in dry-sliding conditions, while a higher fraction of Titanium confers improved corrosion resistance due to its higher corrosion potential.  相似文献

How to reduce consumption of energy in manufacturing has become a topical issue nowadays. Certain manufacturing processes are known for being highly energy-intensive and compression of materials belongs to this group. This article presents the simulation of the process of compression of dry ice snow with the use of the Mohr–Coulomb model. Two simulation variants were considered in this research. In the first one, constant input parameters were used and in the second one, the input parameters were variable, depending on the changing density of the compressed material. The experimental data were compared with the predicted values to find that the model using constant input parameters was inferior as regards to the goodness of fit. On the other hand, the model with variable input parameters was less accurate in predicting the maximum compression force acting in the process. The last section of this article deals with simulations performed with the Drucker–Prager Cap and modified Cam-Clay models. Finally, it was concluded that the Mohr–Coulomb model yields a more accurate representation of the compression process while requiring less information on the variation of the material parameters.  相似文献

Mg–Gd–Y–Zr alloy was subjected to torsion of various strain levels at room temperature. Obvious traces of basal slip were observed in the twisted alloy. Dislocations of <c+a> were also observed, but there were no signs of significant sliding. Even in the sample whose equivalent strain became 0.294, 101¯0 twinning and 101¯2 twinning were rarely seen. The deformation mode with predominant basal <a> dislocations and subordinate <c+a> dislocations resulted in a modified Y fiber texture with a basal pole slightly dispersed at about 70° from the twist axis. Mechanical tests revealed that the tensile strength and compressive strengths increased simultaneously after twisting.  相似文献

  • Uniaxial compressive stress–strain curves of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) with different carbonation depth were investigated.
  • The effect of carbonation depth on peak stress, strain, elastic modulus, and the relative toughness of RAC was studied.
  • Stress–strain models of recycled aggregate concrete with different carbonation depths were established.
AbstractThe stress–strain relation of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) after carbonation is very important to the assessment of the durability of RAC. The objective of this study is to investigate the uniaxial compressive stress–strain curves of RAC after carbonation. In this study, the specimens were prepared with 70-mm diameter and 140-mm height cylinders, and the carbonation of the specimens was accelerated after curing 28 days. Then a uniaxial compressive loading test on the specimens was performed by using a mechanical testing machine. The results show that the peak stress (σ0) and elastic modulus (Ec) of all specimens increase with the increase of carbonation depth. The ratio of ultimate strain to peak strain (εu/ε0) and relative toughness of the specimens decrease with the increase of carbonation depth. Furthermore, carbonation has a stronger effect on natural coarse aggregate concrete (NAC) than the 50% replacement rate of RAC with similar compressive strength. Stress–strain models of recycled aggregate concrete with different carbonation depths were established according to experimental results.  相似文献

The plastic deformation processes and fracture behavior of a Ti–5Al–5Mo–5V–1Cr–1Fe alloy with bimodal and lamellar microstructures were studied by room-temperature tensile tests with in situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations. The results indicate that a bimodal microstructure has a lower strength but higher ductility than a lamellar microstructure. For the bimodal microstructure, parallel, deep slip bands (SBs) are first noticed in the primary α (αp) phase lying at an angle of about 45° to the direction of the applied tension, while they are first observed in the coarse lath α (αL) phase or its interface at grain boundaries (GBs) for the lamellar microstructure. The β matrix undergoes larger plastic deformation than the αL phase in the bimodal microstructure before fracture. Microcracks are prone to nucleate at the αp/β interface and interconnect, finally causing the fracture of the bimodal microstructure. The plastic deformation is mainly restricted to within the coarse αL phase at GBs, which promotes the formation of microcracks and the intergranular fracture of the lamellar microstructure.  相似文献

Mg alloys have mechanical properties similar to those of human bones, and have been studied extensively because of their potential use in biodegradable medical implants. In this study, the influence of different heat treatment regimens on the microstructure and mechanical and corrosion properties of biodegradable Mg–Zn–Ga alloys was investigated, because Ga is effective in the treatment of disorders associated with accelerated bone loss. Solid–solution heat treatment (SSHT) enhanced the mechanical properties of these alloys, and a low corrosion rate in Hanks’ solution was achieved because of the decrease in the cathodic-phase content after SSHT. Thus, the Mg–4 wt.% Zn–4 wt.% Ga–0.5 wt.% Y alloy after 18 h of SSHT at 350 °C (ultimate tensile strength: 207 MPa; yield strength: 97 MPa; elongation at fracture: 7.5%; corrosion rate: 0.27 mm/year) was recommended for low-loaded orthopedic implants.  相似文献

The microstructure evolution and plastic deformation mechanism of a Ta-2.5W liner under the ultra-high-strain-rate conditions generated by the explosive detonation were investigated in this study. For this purpose, a modular soft-recovery apparatus was designed to non-destructively recover the Ta-2.5W explosively formed projectile (EFP) in the ballistic endpoint. The electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) method was employed to examine the microstructure of the Ta-2.5W liner before and after deformation. The microstructure of the recovered EFP exhibited significant grain refinement with preferred fiber texture. The theoretical computation results showed that the temperature of the EFP was in the range of 0.27–0.65 Tm. The deformation mechanism of the Ta-2.5W liner forming EFP driven by the detonation is the continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX) induced by high strain deformation, rather than the conventional dynamic recrystallization of nucleation and growth. The new grain structures evolve when the low-angle grain boundaries are transformed into the high-angle grain boundaries, and the specific grain refinement mechanism is the progressive rotation of subgrains near pre-existing grain boundaries.  相似文献

In this study, triaxial compression and seepage tests were conducted on briquette and raw coal samples using a coal rock mechanics-seepage triaxial test system (TAWD-2000) to obtain the complete stress–strain curves of the two samples under certain conditions. On this basis, the different damage forms of the two coal samples and the effect of their deformation and damage on their permeability were analyzed from the perspective of fine-scale damage mechanics. Moreover, the sensitivity of permeability to external variables and the suddenness of coal and gas outbursts were discussed. The results show that the compressive strength of raw coal is 27.1 MPa and the compressive strength of briquette is 17.3 MPa, the complete stress–strain curves of the two coal samples can be divided into four stages and show a good correspondence to the permeability–axial strain curves. Since briquette and raw coal have different structural properties, they present different damage mechanisms under load, thus showing great diversity in the permeability-axial strain curve, especially in the damage stage. The deformation affects the seepage characteristics of briquette mainly in the latter two stages, while it affects raw coal throughout the test. The four stages of the complete stress–strain seepage test of raw coal can well explain the four stages of coal and gas outburst process, i.e., preparation, initiation, development, and termination. Hence, the law of coal permeability to gas variation can be utilized for the coal and gas outburst prediction and forecast. The research results are valuable for exploring the real law of gas migration in coal seams.  相似文献

Owing to the world population aging, biomedical materials, such as shape memory alloys (SMAs) have attracted much attention. The biocompatible Ti–Au–Ta SMAs, which also possess high X–ray contrast for the applications like guidewire utilized in surgery, were studied in this work. The alloys were successfully prepared by physical metallurgy techniques and the phase constituents, microstructures, chemical compositions, shape memory effect (SME), and superelasticity (SE) of the Ti–Au–Ta SMAs were also examined. The functionalities, such as SME, were revealed by the introduction of the third element Ta; in addition, obvious improvements of the alloy performances of the ternary Ti–Au–Ta alloys were confirmed while compared with that of the binary Ti–Au alloy. The Ti3Au intermetallic compound was both found crystallographically and metallographically in the Ti–4 at.% Au–30 at.% Ta alloy. The strength of the alloy was promoted by the precipitates of the Ti3Au intermetallic compound. The effects of the Ti3Au precipitates on the mechanical properties, SME, and SE were also investigated in this work. Slight shape recovery was found in the Ti–4 at.% Au–20 at.% Ta alloy during unloading of an externally applied stress.  相似文献
