Total Synthesis of 5-Acetoxy-6-methoxykawain The oxidation of 5-hydroxy-4-methoxy-6-trans-styryl-2H-pyran-2-one ( 6 ) by periodic acid in methanol gives rise to racem.-4,6-dimethoxy-6-trans-styryl-2,5-pyrandione ( 7 ). The yield is 35% Compound 7 is the key intermediate¹⁾ for the total synthesis of (5S, 6S)-(+)-acetoxy-4,6-dimethoxy-6-trans-styryl-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-2-one ( 1 ).

On the Synthesis of Phaeantharine, III: Investigation of the Ullmann Synthesis of Diaryl Ethers The Ullmann synthesis of diaryl ethers was examined using the bromobenzene derivatives 1–6 and the phenols 7–10. It was found that the yield of diphenyl ether increases with increasing electron density at the phenolic oxygen and with decreasing electron density at the carbon atom to which the halogen atom is attached. These results indicate a reaction course analogous to that of a nucleophilic aromatic substitution. The pyridine method turns out to be more successful than the classical method.

On the Synthesis of Phaeantharine, I: Plan of the Synthesis of Phaeantharine and Synthesis of the Unit A: 4′,5-Bis(bromomethyl)-2-methoxydiphenyl Ether A plan for the synthesis of phaeantharine is proposed. The 4′,5-bis(bromomethyl)-2-methoxydiphenyl ether (5) , required for this approach, was prepared in three steps from 4-bromobenzaldehyde (1) and 3-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (2) via the diformyldiphenyl ether 3 and the diol 4 with a total yield of 46%.

They were to be combined by the Ullmann reaction to yield the ether 1. Despite many variations of the reaction conditions, 1 was formed in traces only. The main reaction is the dehalogenation of the isoquinoline 3 . The use of N-formyltetrahydroisoquinoline 9 instead of 3 was not successful, either.

The geminal bisamides (R)- 12 /(S)- 13 are formed from 1 and the bistrimethylsilyl imidate 11 . (R)- 4d is employed in the synthesis of optically active norruspoline (R)- 16 (ee ≧ 84%).

Identifizierung des blutdrucksteigernden Prinzips des Colostrums als Nucleotid

Zusammenfassung Aus Rindercolostrum wurde mit Hilfe verschiedener chromatographischer Methoden eine blutdrucksteigernde Substanz isoliert, die als ein Gemisch aus gleichen Teilen von Uridindiphosphatglucose und Uridindiphosphatgalaktose identifiziert wurde. Aus 15 l Rindercolostrum wurden bei einer Ausbeute von etwa 40% 2 g dieser Substanzen gewonnen. Aus orientierenden Versuchen mit verschiedenen Nucleotiden war zu ersehen, daß eine blutdrucksteigernde Wirkung nur Nucleotiden eigen ist, die neben Uridindiphosphat eine Zuckerkomponente enthalten. Es konnte ein direkter Angriff an der Gefäßmuskulatur wahrscheinlich gemacht werden. Mögliche Ursachen der UDPGa/UDPG-Ausscheidung in das Colostrum werden kurz diskutiert.

Zusammenfassung 1. Es wird die Bedeutung der Durchblutungsverhältnisse des Magens für die Ulkusentstehung besprochen.2. Die unter Prostigmineinwirkung mit der Reinschen Stromuhr untersuchte Magendurchblutung zeigt bei Dosen von 1–15 /kg Körpergewicht eine lang anhaltende eindeutige Steigerung. Größere Dosen 50–100 /kg führen im Rahmen einer allgemeinen Einschränkung des Kreislaufes zu einer Herabsetzung der Magendurchblutung.3. Die klinische Beobachtung über die günstige Wirkung des Prostigmins bei Ulcus ventriculi wird damit durch den Nachweis der Durchblutungssteigerung der Magengefäße auch experimentell unterbaut.Mit 2 Textabbildungen.
