Bonding to enamel and dentin using self-etching adhesive systems.   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8
OBJECTIVES: This study investigated the effectiveness of three different dentin adhesive systems on the adhesion of resin composite to both dentin and enamel. METHOD AND MATERIALS: The flat dentin and enamel surfaces of 60 extracted human molar teeth were exposed by wet grinding with 600-grit silicon carbide paper. One total-etch self-priming adhesive system (Prime & Bond NT), one two-step self-etching primer adhesive system (Clearfil SE Bond), and one "all-in-one" self-etching adhesive system (Prompt L-Pop) were evaluated. Each bonding system was applied according to the manufacturer's instructions and followed by composite (TPH Spectrum) application. Twenty-four hours after bonding, the teeth were subjected to shear testing. There were 10 replicates for each group. RESULTS: Prompt L-Pop exhibited significantly higher bond strength values to enamel (27 +/- 4.2 MPa) than all other groups. There were no statistically significant differences for shear bond strength to dentin among adhesives. Prompt L-Pop showed the statistically significantly higher bond strength to enamel than dentin. There were no statistically significant differences between the enamel and dentin bond strengths of Clearfil SE Bond and Prime & Bond NT. CONCLUSIONS: The self-etching adhesive systems produced high bond strengths to human coronal dentin and ground enamel surfaces. These materials seem to be very promising for further clinical applications, and the results are very encouraging for the clinical success of these simplified adhesive systems. The self-etching adhesive systems produced even better bond strengths to both enamel and dentin than conventional total-etch systems, especially the "all-in-one" system, which produced the highest bond strength to enamel.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine and compare the shear bond strength of 4 fissure sealant systems (Dyract Seal, Concise, Visio-Seal, Helioseal) to enamel using conventional etch and self-etching primer (Prompt-L-Pop). METHODS: Fifty-six newly extracted noncarious first permanent molars were used and embedded in a Teflon mold (3-mm height, 3-mm internal diameter). Mesial surfaces were exposed to a flattened area of enamel and then dried and washed. The teeth were divided into 8 groups, each consisting of 7 specimens stored in 37 degrees C distilled water for 24 hours. Then specimens were tested in a shear mode (Instron) at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/minute. The mean and standard deviations were subjected to an analysis of variance. RESULTS: The average bond strengths using Prompt-L-Pop were: (1) Dyract Seal=20.61 MPa; (2) Concise=23.42 MPa; (3) Visio-Seal=2.94 MPa; and (4) Helioseal=11.83 MPa. These values were higher than and statistically different from those of Dyract Seal (10.18 MPa) and Concise (9.17 MPa) when the conventional etch system was used (student t test, P<.001). CONCLUSION: The bond strengths of Prompt-L-Pop, in conjunction with Dyract Seal and Concise fissure sealant materials, exceeded those of conventional etch.  相似文献

Microtensile adhesion of sealants to intact enamel   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Contamination of etched enamel with saliva has been shown to result in sealant failure. Hydrophilic adhesives improve retention of sealants when enamel is contaminated. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the present study was to characterize the adhesion of two sealants to unprepared enamel etched with phosphoric acid or conditioned with the all-in-one, self-etch adhesive Adper Prompt L-Pop. METHODS: The two proximal enamel surfaces of 16 sound molars were assigned to four conditioning regimens: (1) 35% phosphoric acid for 15 s; (2) Adper Prompt L-Pop, one layer light-cured prior to sealant placement; (3) Adper Prompt L-Pop, two layers light-cured prior to sealant placement; and (4) Adper Prompt L-Pop, one layer co-cured with sealant. One of two sealants, i.e. Clinpro or Delton DDS, was applied, light-cured, followed by a composite build-up to provide support for microtensile bond testing. RESULTS: The highest mean bond strengths were obtained when Adper Prompt L-Pop was applied in two layers and light-cured prior to the insertion of Clinpro Sealant. Co-cure of Adper Prompt L-Pop with either sealant resulted in bond strengths which were not significantly different from those of the phosphoric acid control. The use of Adper Prompt L-Pop in one layer cured prior to sealant placement resulted in statistically lower bond strengths than any other application technique regardless of the sealant used. Clinpro Sealant resulted in statistically higher bond strengths than Delton DDS Sealant. CONCLUSIONS: Application of one layer of Adper Prompt L-Pop co-cured with the sealant resulted in bond strengths similar to those obtained with phosphoric acid etching.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To measure the microtensile bond strength of different pit and fissure sealants in a simplified fissure model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty extracted bovine mandibular permanent incisors were randomly divided into 4 groups for treatment: G1: 35% phosphoric acid/Clinpro Sealant; G2: 35% phosphoric acid/Delton; G3: Non-Rinse Conditioner/Dyract Seal; G4: 20% polyacrylic acid/Fuji IILC. Each tooth was sectioned into 6 pieces (4 x 6 mm) of buccal enamel. SEM examination was used to confirm the presence of aprismatic enamel on each tooth. Using a spacer, two pieces of etched enamel were secured to a glass slide at a mean distance of 0.6+/-0.1 mm. The space between enamel substrates was then etched/conditioned and sealed with different materials according to the tested groups. By serially cutting each double-bonded sample, multiple beam-shaped specimens about 0.8mm(2) in cross section were obtained and tested in tension (0.5 mm/min) until failure occurred at either one of the two stressed interfaces. Failure modes were classified by stereomicroscopy. RESULTS: G1 and G2 showed statistically higher bond strengths than G3 and G4. G4 demonstrated the significantly lowest bond strength. Failures were mostly adhesive in G1, G2, G3, and mainly cohesive/mixed in G4. CONCLUSION: According to this model, resin-based materials (Clinpro Sealant, Delton) showed better microtensile bond strength than compomer (Dyract Seal) or resin-modified glass ionomer (Fuji IILC).  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to determine enamel and dentin bond strengths of a nonrinsing "all-in-one" adhesive and of a nonrinsing conditioner combined with a 1-bottle adhesive. METHOD AND MATERIALS: Specimens were obtained from 240 bovine teeth ground to expose enamel or dentin surfaces. Ten enamel and 10 dentin specimens were randomly assigned to each of 12 different combinations of adhesive system (Prompt L-Pop; no etch + Prime & Bond NT; NRC + Prime & Bond NT; 36% phosphoric acid + Prime & Bond NT; no etch + Prime & Bond 2.1; 36% phosphoric acid + Prime & Bond 2.1) and restorative material (resin composite; polyacid-modified resin composite ["compomer"]). After the application of the adhesive system, a No. 5 gelatin capsule filled with the restorative material was seated against the enamel or dentin surface. After 24 hours in distilled water at 37 degrees C, the specimens were thermocycled and the shear bond strengths were measured. RESULTS: For resin composite, etching with phosphoric acid resulted in the highest bond strengths to enamel. For compomer, the highest enamel bond strengths were achieved with both phosphoric acid and Prompt L-Pop. Treating dentin with Prime & Bond NT without etching provided the highest mean bond strength for composite. For compomer, treating dentin with Prime & Bond NT resulted in the highest mean bond strengths, regardless of the conditioner. CONCLUSION: Compomer and resin composite exhibited statistically similar bond strengths. Bond strengths to dentin were significantly lower than those to enamel.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to compare the effect of phosphoric acid and a self-etching adhesive on the short and long-term bond strength of a light-curing sealant to unground primary and permanent enamel. METHODS: A light-curing resin sealant (Delton Light Curing Pit & Fissure Sealant-CLEAR) was bonded to the flattest, peripheral surface of 40 primary and 40 permanent molars following conditioning of the cleaned enamel with 38% phosphoric acid or with the self-etching adhesive Prompt L-Pop (N=10/group). After either 1 week or 1 year in water, shear bond strengths were measured. Failure mode was determined in a stereo microscope. RESULTS: There was no significant difference in bond strengths between the phosphoric acid-etch and the self-etching adhesive groups, nor between the 1-week and 1-year results (P>.05). However, the bond strengths to primary enamel were lower than those to permanent enamel (P=.0021). The number of pure adhesive failures in each of the 8 groups varied between 0 and 3 (0-30%), and the remaining teeth displayed mixed adhesive-cohesive failures. CONCLUSIONS: The self-etching adhesive studied seems an attractive alternative to the acid-etch technique for sealant application in young children where simplifications in the clinical procedure are warranted.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To investigate the penetration (tags) of adhesive materials into enamel etched with phosphoric acid or treated with a self-etching adhesive, before application of a pit-and-fissure sealant. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The sample comprised six study groups with six specimens each. Before pit-and-fissure sealing with the materials Clinpro SealantTM (Groups I and II), Vitro Seal ALPHA (Groups III and IV) and Fuji II LC (Groups V and VI), the teeth in Groups I, III, and V were etched with 35% phosphoric acid for 30 seconds. Teeth in Groups II, IV, and VI received application of the self-etching adhesive Adper Prompt L-Pop. The treated teeth were sectioned buccolingually, ground to 100-microm thickness, decalcified, and analyzed by conventional light microscopy at 400x magnification. RESULTS: The teeth etched with phosphoric acid exhibited significantly greater penetration than specimens treated with self-etching adhesive. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: When compared with enamel treated with a self-etching adhesive, the penetration (tags) of adhesive materials into enamel was greater when applied on enamel etched with phosphoric acid.

方法选择有典型楔状缺损并因牙周病拔除的上颌前磨牙30颗作为实验组,正常上颌前磨牙30颗作为对照组,使用粘接剂A(全酸蚀粘接剂Scotchbond Multi—Purpose)、B(一步法自酸蚀粘接剂Adper Prompt L-Pop)和C(两步法自酸蚀粘接剂Contax)处理硬化牙本质和正常牙本质表面,相应树脂修复。

PURPOSE: To determine the difference in microtensile bond strengths (MTBS) of resin-based composite bonded to the enamel of cavity preparations using a conventional or a self-etching adhesive. METHODS: Buccal and lingual Class V cavities were prepared in each of 12 caries-free human molars. Six teeth were randomly selected to be restored with Spectrum TPH resin-based composite and Prime & Bond NT adhesive. The remaining six teeth were restored with the same composite and Prompt L-Pop self-etching adhesive. Enamel/composite sticks were cut from each specimen and subjected to microtensile bond testing. Each debonded specimen was evaluated by SEM to determine the mode of failure. RESULTS: The mean MTBS for Prime & Bond NT specimens was 15.2+/-13.1 MPa. The mean MTBS for Prompt L-Pop self-etching adhesive samples was 18.2+/-14.3 MPa. ANOVA demonstrated no statistically significant difference between the mean MTBS associated with the two adhesives (P> 0.05). The results of SEM analysis revealed that the bonding failures occurred primarily at the interface between the adhesive and the enamel, suggesting a primarily adhesive failure.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: The aggressiveness of three self-etching adhesives on unground enamel was investigated. Ultrastructural features and microtensile bond strength were examined, first using these adhesives as both the etching and resin-infiltration components, and then examining their etching efficacy alone through substitution of the proprietary resins with the same control resins. METHODS: For SEM examination, buccal, mid-coronal, unground enamel from human extracted bicuspids were etched with either Clearfil Mega Bond (Kuraray), Non-Rinse Conditioner (NRC; Dentsply DeTrey) or Prompt L-Pop (ESPE). Those in the control group were etched with 32% phosphoric acid (Bisco) for 15s. They were all rinsed off prior to examination of the etching efficacy. For TEM examination, the self-etching adhesives were used as recommended. Unground enamel treated with NRC were further bonded using Prime&Bond NT (Dentsply), while those in the etched, control group were bonded using All-Bond 2 (Bisco). Completely demineralized, resin replicas were embedded in epoxy resin for examination of the extent of resin infiltration. For microtensile bond strength evaluation, specimens were first etched and bonded using the self-etching adhesives. A second group of specimens were etched with the self-etching adhesives, rinsed but bonded using a control adhesive. Following restoration with Z100 (3M Dental Products), they were sectioned into beams of uniform cross-sectional areas and stressed to failure. RESULTS: Etching patterns of aprismatic enamel, as revealed by SEM, and the subsurface hybrid layer morphology, as revealed by TEM, varied according to the aggressiveness of the self-etching adhesives. Clearfil Mega Bond exhibited the mildest etching patterns, while Prompt L-Pop produced an etching effect that approached that of the total-etch control group. Microtensile bond strength of the three experimental groups were all significantly lower than the control group, but not different from one another. When the self-etching adhesives were replaced with the control adhesive after etching, bond strengths of NRC/Prime&Bond NT and Prompt L-Pop were not significantly different from that of the control group, but were significantly higher than that of Clearfil Mega Bond. SIGNIFICANCE: Both etching efficacy and strength of the resins are important contributing factors in bonding of self-etching adhesives to unground enamel.  相似文献

The present study compared the shearing strength of a non-rinse conditioning (NRC) compomer sealant to that of a conventional sealant. Thirty molars and premolars were sectioned longitudinally. The resulting halves were divided into 4 groups. Cylinders of sealants were bonded to the sections using a gelatin capsule as a matrix, as follows: Group A (n = 15) NRC + Prime & Bond + Dyract Seal; Group B (n = 15) same as group A but with phosphoric acid and rinse; Group C (n = 15) conventional phosphoric acid + Helioseal; Group D (n = 15) NRC + Helioseal. After immersing the specimens in water for 7 days, the samples were mounted on the Instron testing machine at a 20 mm/min crosshead speed. The results were subjected to ANOVA with Scheffe test, with a significant level of .05. No shearing strength values could be obtained for the specimens of group D. Some cylinders separated from the enamel while still immersed in the water, and in others the adhesion was too low, and no readings could be observed. For all groups, failure occurred at the sealant-enamel interface. The mean value for group A was 5.33 MPa, significantly less than that of groups B 9.12 MPa and C 9.63 MPa (p < 0.006). No significant difference of the mean shear strength was evident between groups B and C. No rinse conditioning with Dyract Seal led to a considerably lower bond strength value than Dyract Seal and Helioseal with phosphoric acid and rinsing.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To examine the etching efficacy of three self-etching systems to unconditioned enamel and to phosphoric-acid conditioned enamel using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and to investigate the microtensile bond strength (muTBS) of three self-etching adhesives to unconditioned enamel used according to the manufacturers' instructions, on phosphoric-acid conditioned enamel, and when their different adhesives were replaced with a control resin after etching. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Clearfil SE Bond (CSE), Tyrian SPE/One-Step Plus (TY), and Adper Prompt L-Pop (AD) were employed. Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus (SBMP), an etch-and-rinse adhesive, was used as control. For muTBS evaluation, the buccal or lingual mid-coronal enamel of 30 molars was used. In the first group, self-etching adhesives were applied conventionally, according to manufacturers' directions (group C). A second group of specimens was etched with 35% phosphoric acid before application of the self-etching adhesives (group PA), and the third group of specimens was etched with the self-etching adhesives, rinsed, but bonded using a control bonding resin (group CR). Following restoration with Z250, they were sectioned into beams (0.8 mm2), and stressed to failure. Data were subjected to two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test. The etching efficacy of the self-etching adhesives, phosphoric acid, and prior phosphoric acid + SE application was evaluated under SEM. RESULTS: All self-etching adhesives applied as recommended by the manufacturers showed lower muTBS values than those obtained in PA and CR groups, although this difference was only significant for TY and AD. The means of all self-etching adhesives under PA and CR groups were similar to SBMP. The enamel conditioned with self-etching adhesive showed a less distinct pattern. CSE exhibited the mildest etching pattern. All self-etching adhesives applied after phosphoric acid exhibited a more retentive etching pattern. CONCLUSION: The bond strength values of low-pH self-etching adhesives can be improved by the adjunctive use of phosphoric acid or replacement of the bonding resin.  相似文献

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of a new self-etching primer (Adper Prompt L-pop; 3M ESPE, St Paul, Minn) on shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets. Forty extracted human premolars were obtained and randomly divided into two groups of 20 each: group 1 (control), phosphoric acid + Transbond XT primer (3M Unitek, Monróvia, Calif) and group 2, Adper Prompt L-pop. Transbond XT adhesive paste (3M Unitek) was used in both groups for bracket bonding. All products were used according to the manufacturer's instructions. Instron Universal Testing Machine was used to apply an occlusal shear force directly onto the enamel-bracket interface at a speed of 0.5 mm/min. The groups were compared using Student's t-test. Mean results and standard deviation for the groups were: group 1 = 16.23 MPa (4.77), group 2 = 13.56 MPa (4.31). No significant difference was observed in the bond strengths of the two groups evaluated (P = .069). However, the adhesive remnant index was significantly less when conditioning the enamel with Adper Prompt L-pop compared with phosphoric acid (P = .0003). The results suggest no difference in bond strength whether a conventional etching and primer or Adper Prompt L-pop is used. The amount of adhesive on the enamel after debonding was significantly less when using Adper Prompt than when using phosphoric acid. These results indicated that Adper Prompt is potentially adequate for orthodontic bonding needs.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to assess in vitro the tensile bond strength of a self-etching and 2 total-etch, single-bottle adhesive systems to primary dentin. METHODS: Thirty-six sound primary canine buccal surfaces were randomly assigned to 3 groups (N = 12), corresponding to the tested adhesive systems: (1) group I = Excite (EX); (2) group II = Single Bond (SB); and (3) group III = Prompt L-Pop (PLP). After 24-hour storage in distilled water, tensile bond strength was tested for failure at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. RESULTS: Means (MPa) and standard deviation (+/-) were: (1) EX = 12.72 (+/- .89); (2) SB = 10.86 (+/- 2.09); (3) PLP = 8.66 (+/- 2.23). Single Bond and Excite showed statistically similar results (P >.05) and provided the highest means. Prompt L-Pop was statistically different from the other groups (P < .05) and reached the lower bond strength to primary dentin. CONCLUSIONS: Total-etch agents provided the best overall bonding performance, whereas the all-in-one, self-etching, self-priming adhesive system yielded remarkably lower bond strength to primary teeth dentin.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of all-in-one adhesives as fissure sealants. METHODS: Resin-enamel bonded specimens were fabricated between polished and ground enamel surfaces using two all-in-one adhesives (One-Up Bond F and Xeno CF Bond) and two resin sealants (Teethmate F-1 and Helioseal F). Specimen beams were prepared and microtensile bond tests were performed at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/minute. The bond strengths obtained were subjected to one-way ANOVA and Scheffe's F test (P < 0.05: n=12 for each group). To evaluate the etching effect of phosphoric acid and the all-in-one adhesives, the treated enamel surfaces (37% phosphoric acid, 40% phosphoric acid, or all-in-one adhesives) were examined by FE-SEM. RESULTS: The bond strengths of the two all-in-one adhesives tested to the polished enamel surface were significantly lower (P < 0.05) than to ground enamel. However, no significant differences (P > 0.05) were found between the polished and ground enamel surfaces for resin sealants using phosphoric acid. Under SEM examination, 37% or 40% phosphoric acid etched the enamel surface more than all-in-one adhesives.  相似文献

Data on the adhesive strength of new all-in-one adhesives are still relatively limited. This study compared the microshear bond strengths of five recent all-in-one self-etching priming systems (G-Bond, One-Up Bond-F Plus, Clearfil S3 Bond, Adper Prompt L-Pop and Go!) with a widely used two-step self-etching priming system (Clearfil SE Bond). Human molars were sectioned and finished with 600-grit SiC paper. Both enamel and dentin were bonded using adhesives with a 0.7 mm bonding diameter. Bond strengths were tested using a microshear bond test method at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/minute. The mean bond strengths and standard deviations were calculated and analyzed using ANOVA and the Tukey's HSD test. Results showed the two-step self-etching system had significantly higher bond strengths to dentin. However, for enamel bond strength, Clearfil SE Bond showed no statistical difference to G-Bond and Go!; however, all of the other materials were statistically lower. It is necessary to examine these new materials clinically to determine their efficacy.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to compare the bond strengths of two new self-etching one-step (Prompt L-Pop 2 and Adper Prompt L-pop) to a total-etch three-step dentin bonding system (Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus). MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred twenty human molars were randomly divided into 3 groups of 40 specimens each. Dentin surfaces of each group were bonded with either Scotchbond Multipurpose Plus (SMP), a three-step system, Prompt L-Pop 2 (PLP), or Adper Prompt L-Pop (APLP), two one-step bonding systems--according to manufacturers' recommendations. After adhesive application, a composite resin cylinder was incrementally built in a Teflon mold (5 mm high and 5 mm in diameter). The samples of each group were randomly divided into 2 subgroups of 20 samples each and were tested in a shear bond or in a tensile bond strength mode (crosshead speed 5 mm/min). Statistical analyses were performed with one-way ANOVA and Student's t-test. RESULTS: The significantly lowest shear and tensile bond strength values were obtained with APLP. PLP revealed higher shear bond strengths than APLP and SMP. There were no differences in tensile bond strengths between PLP and SMP (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The results of this in vitro study showed that the chemical modifications (adjunction of monomers and copolymers) of the self-etching all-in-one system APLP did not improve its mechanical properties.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: A previous study found that the shear bond strength (SBS) to bovine enamel for the self-etching adhesive Adper Prompt-L-Pop (PLP) was 75% of that found with the etch-and-rinse material SingleBond, while the comparative value for the shear fatigue limit (SFL) was only 58% at 10(5) load cycles. Resin penetration into the enamel surface was substantially less for PLP but it was not conclusive that this was the reason for the lower results cited above. The objective of this study was to determine if pre-etching enamel would substantially improve the SBS and SFL of the PLP adhesive over those found in the previous study. MATERIALS AND METHODS: All test methods were the same as for the previous study. SBS measurements were conducted for composite bonds to bovine enamel using a phosphoric acid pre-etch with the PLP adhesive (PLP-10) and for a conventional enamel-bonding adhesive (EB). Fatigue testing was done with the same test fixtures, load cycling at 2Hz up to a maximum of 10(5) cycles at four selected peak load values between 35 and 60% of the respective bond strengths. Fatigue limits were determined from the data obtained. SEM analysis of resin penetration of the enamel surface was carried out for each adhesive. RESULTS: A significantly greater SBS and SFL were found for EB (SBS: 30.4MPa; SFL: 15.6MPa) than for PLP-10 (SBS: 20.2MPa; SFL: 9.9MPa). Compared with previously found results, the pre-etching of enamel had no significant improvement in SBS and only slight improvement in SFL. Resin tag penetration of the enamel surface for PLP-10 was similar to that previously found for PLP alone, suggesting that the porosity created by phosphoric acid was effectively removed by the acidic PLP adhesive. SIGNIFICANCE: Unlike some self-etching adhesives reported in the literature, pre-etching enamel did not improve the performance of the Prompt-L-Pop adhesive.  相似文献
