Novel glass samples with the composition 75TeO2–5Ta2O5–15Nb2O5–5x (where x = ZnO, MgO, TiO2, or Na2O) in mole percent were prepared. The physical, optical, and gamma radiation shielding properties of the glass samples were studied over a wide energy spectrum ranging between 0.015 and 20 MeV. The glasses’ UV–vis spectra were utilized to evaluate the optical energy gap and refractive index. Glass samples had a refractive index ranging from 2.2005 to 2.0967. The results showed that the sample doped with zinc oxide (ZnO) recorded the highest density (ρglass), molar polarizability (αm), molar refraction (Rm), refractive index (n), and third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility (χ3) and the lowest optical energy gap (Eopt) among the samples under investigation. When comparing the current glass system with various standard glass shielding materials, the prepared glass system showed superior shielding performance at energies ranging between 40 and 85 keV. These findings indicate that the prepared glass systems can be used in diagnostic X-rays, especially in dental applications.  相似文献

Inorganic metal halide perovskite nanocrystals, such as quantum dots (QDs), have emerged as intriguing building blocks for miniaturized light-emitting and optoelectronic devices. Although conventional lithographic approaches and printing techniques allow for discrete patterning at the micro/nanoscale, it is still important to utilize intrinsic QDs with the concomitant retaining of physical and chemical stability during the fabrication process. Here, we report a simple strategy for the evaporative self-assembly to produce highly ordered structures of CsPbBr3 and CsPbI3 QDs on a substrate in a precisely controllable manner by using a capillary-bridged restrict geometry. Quantum confined CsPbBr3 and CsPbI3 nanocrystals, synthesized via a modified hot-injection method with excess halide ions condition, were readily adapted to prepare colloidal QD solutions. Subsequently, the spatially patterned arrays of the perovskite QD rings were crafted in a confirmed geometry with high fidelity by spontaneous solvent evaporation. These self-organized concentric rings were systemically characterized regarding the center-to-center distance, width, and height of the patterns. Our results not only facilitate a fundamental understanding of assembly in the perovskite QDs to enable the solution-printing process but also provide a simple route for offering promising practical applications in optoelectronics.  相似文献

This study presented an analysis of the TeO2/GeO2 molar ratio in an oxide glass system. A family of melt-quenched glasses with the range of 0–35 mol% of GeO2 has been characterized by using DSC, Raman, MIR, refractive index, PLE, PL spectra, and time-resolved spectral measurements. The increase in the content of germanium oxide caused an increase in the transition temperature but a decrease in the refractive index. The photoluminescence spectra of europium ions were examined under the excitation of 465 nm, corresponding to 7F05D2 transition. The PSB (phonon sidebands) analysis was carried out to determine the phonon energy of the glass hosts. It was reported that the red (5D07F2) to orange (5D07F1) fluorescence intensity ratio for Eu3+ ions decreased from 4.49 (Te0Ge) to 3.33 (Te15Ge) and showed a constant increase from 4.58 (Te20Ge) to 4.88 (Te35Ge). These optical features were explained in structural studies, especially changes in the coordination of [4]Ge to [6]Ge. The most extended lifetime was reported for the Eu3+ doped glass with the highest content of GeO2. This glass was successfully used for the drawing of optical fiber.  相似文献

CoSb3-based skutterudite is a promising mid-temperature thermoelectric material. However, the high lattice thermal conductivity limits its further application. Filling is one of the most effective methods to reduce the lattice thermal conductivity. In this study, we investigate the Ce filling limit and its influence on thermoelectric properties of p-type Fe3CoSb12-based skutterudites grown by a temperature gradient zone melting (TGZM) method. Crystal structure and composition characterization suggests that a maximum filling fraction of Ce reaches 0.73 in a composition of Ce0.73Fe2.73Co1.18Sb12 prepared by the TGZM method. The Ce filling reduces the carrier concentration to 1.03 × 1020 cm−3 in the Ce1.25Fe3CoSb12, leading to an increased Seebeck coefficient. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation indicates that the Ce-filling introduces an impurity level near the Fermi level. Moreover, the rattling effect of the Ce fillers strengthens the short-wavelength phonon scattering and reduces the lattice thermal conductivity to 0.91 W m−1 K−1. These effects induce a maximum Seebeck coefficient of 168 μV K−1 and a lowest κ of 1.52 W m−1 K1 at 693 K in the Ce1.25Fe3CoSb12, leading to a peak zT value of 0.65, which is 9 times higher than that of the unfilled Fe3CoSb12.  相似文献

To improve the radioluminescence (RL) performance of ZnO:Ga (GZO) crystal scintillators and overcome the challenge of their self-absorption, we proposed a two-layer composite scintillator consisting of a GZO wafer and a 70 nm lead halide perovskite film(CsPbBr3, CH3NH3PbBr3). The effects of the perovskite film on the RL properties were studied. The results showed that the perovskite quantum dot film substantially changed the RL spectrum of GZO and prevented self-absorption. The RL of the samples were enhanced by 66% to 151% through the photoluminescence (PL) of the perovskite film, while the energy-resolving power and spatial-resolving power were maintained at the same level as that of GZO image converters. The present experiments and discussions confirmed that the perovskite film improved the RL, and this study suggests a new wavelength regulation method among scintillators, converters, and back-end optical devices. The applications of perovskites in the field of radiation detection and imaging have been extended.  相似文献

Materials from theA2M3O12 family are known for their extensive chemical versatility while preserving the polyhedral-corner-shared orthorhombic crystal system, as well as for their consequent unusual thermal expansion, varying from negative and near-zero to slightly positive. The rarest are near-zero thermal expansion materials, which are of paramount importance in thermal shock resistance applications. Ceramic materials with chemistry Al2−xInxW3O12 (x = 0.2–1.0) were synthesized using a modified reverse-strike co-precipitation method and prepared into solid specimens using traditional ceramic sintering. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (ambient and in situ high temperatures), differential scanning calorimetry and dilatometry to delineate thermal expansion, phase transitions and crystal structures. It was found that the x = 0.2 composition had the lowest thermal expansion, 1.88 × 10−6 K−1, which was still higher than the end member Al2W3O12 for the chemical series. Furthermore, the AlInW3O12 was monoclinic phase at room temperature and transformed to the orthorhombic form at ca. 200 °C, in contrast with previous reports. Interestingly, the x = 0.2, x = 0.4 and x = 0.7 materials did not exhibit the expected orthorhombic-to-monoclinic phase transition as observed for the other compositions, and hence did not follow the expected Vegard-like relationship associated with the electronegativity rule. Overall, compositions within the Al2−xInxW3O12 family should not be considered candidates for high thermal shock applications that would require near-zero thermal expansion properties.  相似文献

This work reports on theoretical and experimental investigation of the impact of InAs quantum dots (QDs) position with respect to InGaAs strain reducing layer (SRL). The investigated samples are grown by molecular beam epitaxy and characterized by photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The QDs optical transition energies have been calculated by solving the three dimensional Schrödinger equation using the finite element methods and taking into account the strain induced by the lattice mismatch. We have considered a lens shaped InAs QDs in a pure GaAs matrix and either with InGaAs strain reducing cap layer or underlying layer. The correlation between numerical calculation and PL measurements allowed us to track the mean buried QDs size evolution with respect to the surrounding matrix composition. The simulations reveal that the buried QDs’ realistic size is less than that experimentally driven from atomic force microscopy observation. Furthermore, the average size is found to be slightly increased for InGaAs capped QDs and dramatically decreased for QDs with InGaAs under layer.  相似文献

Carbon fiber (CF)-reinforced high-temperature thermoplastics such as poly(phenylene sulphide) (PPS) are widely used in structural composites for aerospace and automotive applications. The porosity of CF-reinforced polymers is a very important topic for practical applications since there is a direct correlation between void content and mechanical properties. In this study, inorganic fullerene-like tungsten disulphide (IF-WS2) lubricant nanoparticles were used to manufacture PPS/IF-WS2/CF laminates via melt-blending and hot-press processing, and the effect of IF-WS2 loading on the quality, thermal and mechanical behaviour of the hybrid composites was investigated. The addition of IF-WS2 improved fiber impregnation, resulting in lower degree of porosity and increased delamination resistance, compression and flexural properties; their reinforcement effect was greater at temperatures above the glass transition (Tg). IF-WS2 contents higher than 0.5 wt % increased Tg and the heat deflection temperature while reduced the coefficient of thermal expansion. The multiscale laminates exhibited higher ignition point and notably reduced peak heat release rate compared to PPS/CF. The coexistence of micro- and nano-scale fillers resulted in synergistic effects that enhanced the stiffness, strength, thermal conductivity and flame retardancy of the matrix. The results presented herein demonstrate that the IF-WS2 are very promising nanofillers to improve the thermomechanical properties of conventional thermoplastic/CF composites.  相似文献

The erbium-vanadium co-doped borate glasses, embedded with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs), were prepared to improve their optical properties for potential optical fiber and glass laser application. The borate glasses with composition (59.5–x) B2O3–20Na2O–20CaO–xV2O5–Er2O3–0.5AgCl (x = 0–2.5 mol%) were successfully prepared by conventional melt-quenching method. The structural properties of glass samples were investigated by XRD, TEM and by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy while optical properties were carried out by UV–Vis spectroscopy by measuring optical absorption and the emission properties were investigated by photoluminescence spectroscopy. The XRD patterns confirmed the amorphous nature of the prepared glass samples whilst the FTIR confirmed the presence of VO4, VO5, BO3 and BO4 vibrations. UV–Vis–NIR absorption spectra reveal eight bands which were located at 450, 490, 519, 540, 660, 780, 980, and 1550 nm corresponding to transition of 4F5/2, 4F7/2, 2H11/2, 4S3/2, 4F9/2, 4I9/2, 4I11/2, and 4I13/2, respectively. The optical band gap (Eopt), Urbach energy and refractive index were observed to decrease, increase and increase, respectively, to the addition of vanadium. Under 800 nm excitation, three emission bands were observed at 516, 580 and 673 nm, which are represented by 2H11/24I15/2, 4S3/24I15/2 and 4F15/24I15/2, respectively. The excellent features of achieved results suggest that our findings may provide useful information toward the development of functional glasses.  相似文献

Strong nonlinear absorption (NLA), reduced optical limiting (OL) thresholds, and high radiation shielding parameters are required for the effective use of glasses in the laser radiation and nuclear radiation protecting materials. In view of this, the efficacy of Sm2O3 on the nonlinear optical (NLO) and OL properties were ascertained (at 532 nm) along with radiation shielding characteristics. The open and closed aperture Z-scan profiles revealed the presence of positive NLA and nonlinear refraction (NLR) phenomena respectively. OL measurements showed the existence of limiting behavior in the studied glasses. The NLA and NLR coefficients were improved while the OL thresholds were decreased as the doping of Sm2O3 elevated to a higher doping level. These improvements in NLA, NLR coefficients and OL efficiencies were attributed to the non-bridging oxygens and high polarizable Sm3+ ions. The NLA and OL results clearly suggest the high (5 mol %) Sm2O3 doped glass (Sm5CNLB) glass is beneficial to protect the delicate devices and human eye by suppressing the high energy laser light. The theoretical linear attenuation coefficients (LAC) values of the presented SmxCNLB glasses were obtained with the help of Phy-X software between 0.284 and 1.333 MeV. At 0.284 MeV, the maximum values occur and take values between 0.302 (for Sm0CNLB) and 0.409 cm−1 (for Sm5CNLB). We found that the LAC for the presented SmxCNLB glasses is a function of Sm2O3 content, where the LAC tends to increase, corresponding to the high probabilities of interaction, as the content of Sm2O3 changes from 0 to 5 mol %. The effective atomic number (Zeff) for the presented SmxCNLB glasses was examined between 0.284 and 1.333 MeV. As the amount of Sm2O3 is added, the Zeff increases, and this was observed at any energy.  相似文献

In the paper, we report on the development of a synthesis and melting method of phosphate glasses designed for active microstructured fiber manufacturing. Non-doped glass synthesized in a P2O5-Al2O3-BaO-ZnO-MgO-Na2O oxide system served as the matrix material; meanwhile, the glass was doped with 6 mol% (18 wt%) of Yb2O3, as fiber core. The glasses were well-fitted in relation to optical (refractive index) and thermal proprieties (thermal expansion coefficient, rheology). The fiber with the Yb3+-doped core, with a wide internal photonic microstructure for a laser pump, as well as with a high relative hole size in the photonic outer air-cladding, was produced. The laser built on the basis of this fiber enabled achieving 8.07 W of output power with 20.5% slope efficiency against the launched pump power, in single-mode operation M2 = 1.59, from a 53 cm-long cavity.  相似文献

In this work, a series of Bi2Te3/X mol% MoS2 (X = 0, 25, 50, 75) bulk nanocomposites were prepared by hydrothermal reaction followed by reactive spark plasma sintering (SPS). X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) indicates that the native nanopowders, comprising of Bi2Te3/MoS2 heterostructure, are highly reactive during the electric field-assisted sintering by SPS. The nano-sized MoS2 particles react with the Bi2Te3 plates matrix forming a mixed-anion compound, Bi2Te2S, at the interface between the nanoplates. The transport properties characterizations revealed a significant influence of the nanocomposite structure formation on the native electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, and thermal conductivity of the initial Bi2Te3 matrix. As a result, enhanced ZT values have been obtained in Bi2Te3/25 mol% MoS2 over the temperature range of 300–475 K induced mainly by a significant increase in the electrical conductivity.  相似文献

Glass-ceramic is semi-novel material with many applications, but it is still problematic in obtaining fibers. This paper aims to develop a new glass-ceramic material that is a compromise between crystallization, thermal stability, and optical properties required for optical fiber technology. This compromise is made possible by an alternative method with a controlled crystallization process and a suitable choice of the chemical composition of the core material. In this way, the annealing process is eliminated, and the core material adopts a glass-ceramic character with high transparency directly in the drawing process. In the experiment, low phonon antimony-germanate-silicate glass (SGS) doped with Eu3+ ions and different concentrations of P2O5 were fabricated. The glass material crystallized during the cooling process under conditions similar to the drawing processes’. Thermal stability (DSC), X-ray photo analysis (XRD), and spectroscopic were measured. Eu3+ ions were used as spectral probes to determine the effect of P2O5 on the asymmetry ratio for the selected transitions (5D07F1 and 5D07F2). From the measurements, it was observed that the material produced exhibited amorphous or glass-ceramic properties, strongly dependent on the nucleator concentration. In addition, the conducted study confirmed that europium ions co-form the EuPO4 structure during the cooling process from 730 °C to room temperature. Moreover, the asymmetry ratio was changed from over 4 to under 1. The result obtained confirms that the developed material has properties typical of transparent glass-ceramic while maintaining high thermal stability, which will enable the fabrication of fibers with the glass-ceramic core.  相似文献

In a previous study, we used transmission electron microscopy and electron energy-loss (EEL) spectroscopy to investigate dehydrogenation of AlH3 particles. In the present study, we systematically examine differences in the chemical bonding states of Al-containing compounds (including AlH3) by comparing their Al-L2,3 EEL spectra. The spectral chemical shift and the fine peak structure of the spectra were consistent with the degree of covalent bonding of Al. This finding will be useful for future nanoscale analysis of AlH3 dehydrogenation toward the cell.  相似文献

A series of Al2O3–Al2TiO5 ceramic composites with different Al2TiO5 contents (10 and 40 vol.%) fabricated at different sintering temperatures (1450 and 1550 °C) was studied in the present work. The microstructure, crystallite structure, and through-thickness residual stress of these composites were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, time-of-flight neutron diffraction, and Rietveld analysis. Lattice parameter variations and individual peak shifts were analyzed to calculate the mean phase stresses in the Al2O3 matrix and Al2TiO5 particulates as well as the peak-specific residual stresses for different hkl reflections of each phase. The results showed that the microstructure of the composites was affected by the Al2TiO5 content and sintering temperature. Moreover, as the Al2TiO5 grain size increased, microcracking occurred, resulting in decreased flexure strength. The sintering temperatures at 1450 and 1550 °C ensured the complete formation of Al2TiO5 during the reaction sintering and the subsequent cooling of Al2O3–Al2TiO5 composites. Some decomposition of AT occurred at the sintering temperature of 1550 °C. The mean phase residual stresses in Al2TiO5 particulates are tensile, and those in the Al2O3 matrix are compressive, with virtually flat through-thickness residual stress profiles in bulk samples. Owing to the thermal expansion anisotropy in the individual phase, the sign and magnitude of peak-specific residual stress values highly depend on individual hkl reflection. Both mean phase and peak-specific residual stresses were found to be dependent on the Al2TiO5 content and sintering temperature of Al2O3–Al2TiO5 composites, since the different developed microstructures can produce stress-relief microcracks. The present work is beneficial for developing Al2O3–Al2TiO5 composites with controlled microstructure and residual stress, which are crucial for achieving the desired thermal and mechanical properties.  相似文献

Three cationic iridium(III) complexes [Ir(ppy)2(phen)][PF6] (C1), [Ir(ppy)2(phen)]2SiF6 (C2) and [Ir(ppy)2(phen)]2TiF6 (C3) (ppy: 2-phenylpyridine, phen: 1, 10-phenanthroline) using different anions were synthesized and characterized by 1H Nuclear magnetic resonance (1HNMR), mass spectra (MS), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra and element analysis (EA). After the ultraviolet visible (UV-vis) absorption spectra, photoluminescent (PL) properties and thermal properties of the complexes were investigated, complex C1 and C3 with good optical properties and high thermal stability were used in white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) as luminescence conversion materials by incorporation with 460 nm-emitting blue GaN chips. The integrative performances of the WLEDs fabricated with complex C1 and C3 are better than those fabricated with the widely used yellow phosphor Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ (YAG). The color rendering indexes of the WLEDs with C1 and C3 are 82.0 and 82.6, the color temperatures of them are 5912 K and 3717 K, and the maximum power efficiencies of them are 10.61 Lm·W−1 and 11.41 Lm·W−1, respectively.  相似文献

An original way to obtain fibers with special chromatic dispersion and single-mode behavior is to consider microstructured optical fibers (MOFs). These fibers present unique optical properties thanks to the high degree of freedom in the design of their geometrical structure. In this study, the first all-solid all-chalcogenide MOFs exhibiting photonic bandgap transmission have been achieved and optically characterized. The fibers are made of an As38Se62 matrix, with inclusions of Te20As30Se50 glass that shows a higher refractive index (n = 2.9). In those fibers, several transmission bands have been observed in mid infrared depending on the geometry. In addition, for the first time, propagation by photonic bandgap effect in an all-chalcogenide MOF has been observed at 3.39 µm, 9.3 µm, and 10.6 µm. The numerical simulations based on the optogeometric properties of the fibers agree well with the experimental characterizations.  相似文献

Lead-based (IV–VI) colloidal quantum dots (QDs) are of widespread scientific and technological interest owing to their size-tunable band-gap energy in the near-infrared optical region. This article reviews the synthesis of PbSe-based heterostructures and their structural and optical investigations at various temperatures. The review focuses on the structures consisting of a PbSe core coated with a PbSexS1–x (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) or CdSe shell. The former-type shells were epitaxially grown on the PbSe core, while the latter-type shells were synthesized using partial cation-exchange. The influence of the QD composition and the ambient conditions, i.e., exposure to oxygen, on the QD optical properties, such as radiative lifetime, Stokes shift, and other temperature-dependent characteristics, was investigated. The study revealed unique properties of core/shell heterostructures of various compositions, which offer the opportunity of fine-tuning the QD electronic structure by changing their architecture. A theoretical model of the QD electronic band structure was developed and correlated with the results of the optical studies. The review also outlines the challenges related to potential applications of colloidal PbSe-based heterostructures.  相似文献

The role La2O3 on the radiation shielding properties of La2O3-CaO-B2O3-SiO2 glass systems was investigated. The energies were selected between 0.284 and 1.275 MeV and Phy-X software was used for the calculations. BLa10 glass had the least linear attenuation coefficient (LAC) at all the tested energies, while BLa30 had the greatest, which indicated that increasing the content of La2O3 in the BLa-X glasses enhances the shielding performance of these glasses. The mass attenuation coefficient (MAC) of BLa15 decreases from 0.150 cm2/g to 0.054 cm2/g at energies of 0.284 MeV and 1.275 MeV, respectively, while the MAC of BLa25 decreases from 0.164 cm2/g to 0.053 cm2/g for the same energies, respectively. At all energies, the effective atomic number (Zeff) values follow the trend BLa10 < BLa15 < BLa20 < BLa25 < BLa30. The half value thickness (HVL) of the BLa-X glass shields were also investigated. The minimum HVL values are found at 0.284 MeV. The HVL results demonstrated that BLa30 is the most space-efficient shield. The tenth value layer (TVL) results demonstrated that the glasses are more effective attenuators at lower energies, while decreasing in ability at greater energies. These mean free path results proved that increasing the density of the glasses, by increasing the amount of La2O3 content, lowers MFP, and increases attenuation, which means that BLa30, the glass with the greatest density, absorbs the most amount of radiation.  相似文献

The present study aimed to investigate the influence of the gradual substitution of Fe2O3 by Al2O3 on the thermal properties of polyphosphate glasses. The conducted considerations based on differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and heating microscopy thermal analysis provided much essential information about the correlation between glass chemical composition and its characteristic parameters, such as transformation temperature, specific heat, crystallization temperature, crystallization enthalpy, the activation energy of crystal growth, melting temperature, and Angell glass thermal stability. The obtained estimation of viscosity changes as a function of temperature could be very helpful for researchers to correctly plan the vitrification process and thus radioactive waste immobilization. A precise analysis of DSC curves and X-ray diffraction patterns revealed the possibility of crystallization process design in order to create materials with different levels of crystallinity and phase composition. The drawn conclusions allow choosing the glass with the optimal concentration of Al2O3 and Fe2O3, which ensures the relatively low melting temperature, viscosity, and glass crystallization ability, with application potential in nuclear waste immobilization.  相似文献
