Background:Increasing studies indicate that acupuncture can be used for treating vestibular migraine (VM), but current evidence remains inconclusive. Thus, this protocol aims to evaluate the evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for VM prophylaxis by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis.Methods:Studies will be retrieved by searching electronic databases from their inception to December 2020, including EMBASE, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese BioMedical Literature Database (CBM), and Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP). Eligible randomized controlled trials involving acupuncture for VM prophylaxis will be included. Study screening, data collection, and assessment for risk of bias will be executed by 2 independent reviewers. Meta-analyses will be conducted, followed by subgroup analysis if significant heterogeneity is detected. Sensitivity analysis and summary of the strength of the evidence will also be performed.Results:The results of the present systematic review and meta-analysis will verify the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for VM prophylaxis.Conclusion:This review will determine the efficacy and safety of acupuncture on VM prophylaxis. The findings are expected to verified whether acupuncture can be an alternative treatment for VM prophylaxis.Ethics and dissemination:Given that a systematic review and meta-analysis will not involve private information of individuals, ethical approval is not required. Backgroud:Patients with gouty arthritis suffer from intermittent attacks of pain, chronic inflammation, and joint damage. Acupuncture has been used in East Asian countries for centuries to treat various diseases, and several clinical studies have reported that acupuncture has beneficial effects on gouty arthritis. This study aims to evaluate the effect of acupuncture in patients with gouty arthritis by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis.Methods:A comprehensive search of 8 electronic databases will be performed, including MEDLINE, Embase, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, 4 Korean databases (KoreaMed, Korean Studies Information Service System, Research Information Service System, and Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System), and 1 Chinese database (China National Knowledge Infrastructure). Only randomized controlled trials comparing acupuncture to conventional treatment and acupuncture with conventional treatment to conventional treatment alone for gouty arthritis will be included. Pain intensity will be considered the primary outcome. The secondary outcomes will include the pain relief duration, total effective rate, blood uric acid level, inflammatory markers, and incidence of adverse events. Two independent researchers will perform the study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment. The methodological quality of the individual included studies will be assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. In the meta-analysis, for dichotomous and continuous data, risk ratios and standardized mean differences, respectively, will be estimated in addition to 95% confidence intervals.Results: This systematic review will evaluate the effect of acupuncture treatment for patients with gouty arthritis with respect to clinical symptoms, laboratory indicators, and safety.Conclusion: Our findings will help to establish the evidence of acupuncture to treat gouty arthritis.Registration number:PROSPERO CRD42020169668.  相似文献

Background:Posttraumatic headache (PTH) after traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common clinical symptom, which refers to a headache that occurs after TBI. Acupuncture is often used for the treatment of such patients in China, and significant clinical effects have been achieved. However, to date, its efficacy has not been methodically evaluated. The purpose of this systematic review is to provide evidence to prove the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of PTH in patients with TBI.Methods:This systematic review will be conducted in accordance with the preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis protocols. The following electronic databases will be searched from their inception to February 2022: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, PsycINFO, the Cochrane Library, and Chinese databases such as Chinese Biomedical Literature (CBM), Chinese Medical Current Content (CMCC), Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP), WanFang Database, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). No language restrictions will be applied to the search strategy. Randomized controlled trials and cohort and case-control studies that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria will be included in this study. The meta-analysis will be performed using RevMan 5.3 software. Each session of this systematic review will be conducted independently by 2 members.Results:This review evaluates the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of PTH after TBI.Conclusion:This review provides substantial evidence for the clinical application of acupuncture in PTH treatment after TBI.Ethics and dissemination:Since the data in this study will be retrieved from published trials, therefore the Patient Consent Statement and Ethical Approval are not required. Background:Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder with recurrent abdominal pain and changes in bowel habits. Many pieces of evidence show that acupuncture and moxibustion therapy has advantages in the treatment of IBS, but there are many acupuncture and moxibustion therapy options, each of which has different therapeutic effects. This study will evaluate the clinical efficacy of different acupuncture and moxibustion therapies in the treatment of IBS by means of a network meta-analysis.Methods:According to the retrieval strategy, we retrieved the randomized controlled trials of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of IBS from China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, VIP, Chinese biomedical databases, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library databases from the database establishment to July 2021. We assessed the quality of the studies using the Cochrane Risk Bias Assessment Tool and assessed the strength of the evidence using the Grading of Recommendation Assessment, Development, and Evaluation methodology. All data analyses were performed by RevMan5.3, Gemtc 0.14.3, and Stata 14.0.Results:This study evaluated the efficacy of different acupuncture and moxibustion therapies in the treatment of IBS by evaluating the clinical efficacy rate, symptom scores, quality of life scores, adverse reactions, etc, and further explore the mechanism of action of each therapy.Conclusion:This study will provide a reliable evidence-based basis for selecting the best acupuncture and moxibustion therapy for IBS.Ethics and dissemination:Private information from individuals will not be published. This systematic review also does not involve endangering participant rights. Ethical approval will not be required. Background:Ankylosing spondylitis is a complex and progressive autoimmune inflammatory disease with a worldwide prevalence ranging up to 0.9%. Several systematic reviews and meta-analyses of traditional Chinese medicine alternative therapies, such as acupuncture or moxibustion, have demonstrated the effectiveness of moxibustion and acupuncture in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis. However, there is no relevant literature to comprehensively evaluate the evidence. The purpose of this overview is to synthesize and evaluate the reliability of evidence generated in the systematic review (SR) and meta-analysis of moxibustion and acupuncture as a primary or complementary therapy for patients with ankylosing spondylitis.Methods:PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese VIP Information, Wanfang Database, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database were searched for systematic reviews and meta-analysis that review the efficacy of acupuncture or moxibustion as the primary treatment for patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis. The literature published before August 2020 will be selected. Additionally, the relevant SRs and meta-analyses that unpublished or ongoing will be searched in PROSPERO and INPLASY. The methodological guidelines for overviews will be used to review and extract data by 2 reviewers, and their will do it independently. Methodology quality will be analyzed by the assessment of multiple systematic reviews-2and the risk of bias by POBIS. For the included studies, we will adopt the following results as primary evaluation indicators: effective rate, visual analogue scale and bath AS disease activity index. Reviewers will assess the certainty of evidence by Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation.Results:The results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal.Conclusion:This overview will provide comprehensive evidence of moxibustion and acupuncture for patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis.  相似文献

Introduction:Fire acupuncture is commonly used for the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris, but the efficacy and safety of fire acupuncture for psoriasis vulgaris remain unclear.Methods:This systematic review and meta-analysis will be conducted and reported strictly according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Five databases including China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang, VIP, Chinese biomedical literature, and Pubmed will be retrieved for potentially eligible studies from their inception to Jan. 2021. All randomized clinical trials comparing fire acupuncture versus no fire acupuncture in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris will be retrieved and assessed for inclusion. RevMan5.3 software provided by Cochrane collaboration will be used for the analysis. Randomized Clinical Trials Data will be extracted by 2 researchers independently, risk of bias of the meta-analysis will be evaluated based on the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions. The primary endpoint is the total effective rate, the secondary outcomes are the Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) score, the recurrence rate and the adverse reactions.Results:This study will systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of fire acupuncture for psoriasis vulgaris. The results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal.Conclusion:This systematic review will evaluate the effects of fire acupuncture in patients with psoriasis vulgaris, thus providing evidence to the clinical application of this therapy.  相似文献

Background:Traditional Chinese exercises are more and more popular for type 2 diabetes patients for the treatment and rehabilitation; however, the comparative effectiveness and safety remains unclear. Our study aims to compare the pros and cons of these exercise interventions for type 2 diabetes by implementing a network meta-analysis.Methods:Eight databases will be searched for relevant systematic reviews including SinoMed, VIP, CNKI, Wanfang, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and the Cochrane Library from inception to Oct 2021. Randomized controlled trials that meeting eligibility in published systematic reviews will be identified. Randomized controlled trial related to Traditional Chinese Exercises or Qigong therapy in the treatment of type 2 diabetes will be included. Two researchers conducted literature screening, data extraction and risk of bias assessment independently. Network meta-analysis of the data was performed by Stata 14.0. The Grades of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation system will be used to evaluate the rank of evidence.Results:The findings will be reported according to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses- network meta-analysis statement. This systematic review and network meta-analysis will summarize the direct and indirect evidence for different kinds of traditional Chinese exercises therapies and to rank these interventions. Background:Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition, which is characterized by impairment in social interaction or communication and lack of flexibility of imagination and behavior. Acupuncture is one of the most common modality of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and has been used to treat various disease in clinical practice for more than 2000 years in China by correcting disharmony and dysregulation of body. It has sometimes been used as a treatment aimed at improving ASD symptoms and outcomes, but its clinical effectiveness and safety has not been rigorously reviewed. We will plan to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize the current evidence on the effects and safety of acupuncture for ASD.Methods:The following databases will be searched: PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Embase, Wanfang Data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, SinoMed, and VIP. Randomised controlled trials will be included to evaluate the effect and safety of acupuncture on patients with ASD. The primary outcome will be the core features of ASD. The risk of bias will be assessed by the Cochrane risk of bias tool. We will conduct a meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis, as well as a subgroup analysis if high heterogeneity is present, using Revman 5.3. We will use funnel plots to identify potential reporting biases. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation will be used to evaluate the quality of evidence.Results:This study will be to assess the effect and safety of acupuncture for ASD.Conclusions:This study will assess the effect of acupuncture for ASD and provide reliable evidence for the choice of treatments.Ethics and dissemination:The protocol will not need ethical approval because no issues of participant privacy exist. Background:Neck pain is common musculoskeletal disorders in adult population. Acupuncture treatment has been widely used for treating neck pain. Nevertheless, previous systematic reviews (SRs) on acupuncture for neck pain remain controversial, and there is no SR for the comparative efficacy and safety of various types of acupuncture. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate and rank the effectiveness and safety of different types of acupuncture for neck pain by SR and network meta-analysis.Methods:Nine databases will be searched, including Ovid-MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), KoreaMed, Korean medical database (KMBASE), Korean Studies Information Service System (KISS), ScienceON, and Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS) from their inception to July 2021. The primary outcome is the change of pain intensity. A frequentist network meta-analysis will be performed to compare all relative outcomes of different acupuncture methods, using R software. The quality of included randomized controlled trials will be assessed by Cochrane Collaboration “risk of bias” tools and the evidence will be evaluated by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation instrument.Results:The final findings of this network meta-analysis will be published in a recognized journal.Conclusions:Our study will evaluate and compare the effectiveness of various types of acupuncture for neck pain and provide clinicians with best option for what types of acupuncture treatments are effective.Trial registration number:INPLASY202120041  相似文献

Background:Herpes zoster, is one of the most familiar skin diseases in conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis in 2018 showed that fire needle acupuncture can relieve the pain caused by herpes zoster quickly and prevent the outcome of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), with little side effects. The purpose of this study is to update the systematic review with the latest evidence.Methods:Four English (PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, the Web of Science) and 4 Chinese databases (CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, and CBM) will be searched dating until 30 June 2020 for randomized controlled trials with no language restrictions. In addition, a hand search of the reference lists of included studies will also be done. Adults (aged 18–70) with acute herpes zoster (less than 7 days) using fire needle acupuncture will be included. Pairs of researchers will independently conduct the search, screen titles and abstracts, retrieve full texts of potentially eligible studies, assess the risk of bias, and conduct date extraction and synthesis. If there is any discrepancy in the whole process, consult a third researcher. For meta-analysis, the primary outcome is the pain intensity (visual analogue scale [VAS] pain scale; pain relieve of 30%, duration of pain), and the second outcome is incidence of PHN. A sequential analysis will be done to test the robustness of results of meta-analysis. The quality of evidence will be assessed using GRADE system.Results:The results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal.Conclusion:This study will provide the latest systematic review and meta-analysis of fire needle acupuncture for acute herpes zoster and prevention of PHN.  相似文献

Background:Diabetic neurogenic bladder (DNB) is one of the common complications of diabetes mellitus, which has a high prevalence rate. Some research suggested that acupuncture can improve the clinical symptoms of diabetic neurogenic bladder patients, but there is no systematic review or meta-analysis to assess this therapy. Therefore, this study aims to explore the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for patients with DNB.Methods:In this study, we will search for electronic databases including the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE,China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wan-Fang, and Baidu Scholar Database from inception to December 2020. We will select randomized controlled trials that have been published in English or Chinese related to acupuncture for DNB. Selection of study, extraction of data, and assessment of study quality will be performed independently by 2 researchers, and we will use Revman 5.3 software which is provided by Cochrane assistance network, to perform the data analysis.Results:This study will provide evidence of the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for DNB.Conclusion:This study will clarify whether acupuncture is an effective treatment for DNB, and will also provide a reference for clinical practice and guidelines development.  相似文献

Background:Acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal medicine has been widely utilized for pain management in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). However, its results are still inconsistent, and no systematic review has specifically addressed this issue. Thus, this systematic review will comprehensively and systematically investigate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal medicine for pain relief in DPN.Methods:Randomized controlled trials on acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal medicine treatment of DPN published before September of 2021 will be searched in 9 databases including Medline, Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Excerpta Medica Database, Sinomed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang, and China Science and Technology Journal Database. The methodological assessment performed using the risk of bias assessment tool of Cochrane, and the level of evidence quality for the main results will be evaluated by a recommended grading, evaluation, formulation, and evaluation system approach. Bayesian network meta-analysis will be conducted using STATA V.14.0 and WinBUGS V.1.4.3.Results:This study will provide a high-quality comprehensive evaluation of the safety of acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal medicine for treating DPN.Conclusion:This systematic review will evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicine combined with acupuncture in the treatment of DPN, and provide the latest evidence for clinical application.Ethics and dissemination:The protocol of the systematic review does not require ethical approval because it does not involve humans. Background:Shoulder pain is a common problem in outpatient medical practice. Recent studies show that acupuncture has therapeutic effect on releasing symptoms of shoulder pain. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to access the efficacy and safety of auricular acupuncture for shoulder pain.Methods:Eight databases will be searched for randomized controlled trials of auricular acupuncture in the treatment of shoulder pain with retrieval time up to September 2020, including PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, Web of science, CNKI, VIP, CBM, and Wangfang Data databases. Background:Stable angina pectoris (SAP) is one of the important causes and harbingers of disability and mortality worldwide in the cardiovascular diseases. Acupuncture has been widely applied in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases in recent years. This systematic review protocol aims to analyze different acupuncture and related therapies to treat SAP, with a view to providing an evidence-based basis for clinical implementation of treatment for patients with SAP.Methods and analysis:The electronic databases of PubMed, EMBASE, The Cochrane Library, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang database, Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP), and China Biology Medicine Database (CBM) will be searched from inception to November 2020. The outcome measures were angina attack frequency, ECG changes, angina pain intensity, performance on the Six-Minute Walk Test (6-MWT) and reported adverse events. Study inclusion, data extraction and quality assessment will be performed independently by 2 reviewers. STATA 14.0 will be used to perform pairwise meta-analysis. STATA 13.0 and WinBUGS 1.4.3 will be used to perform pairwise meta-analysis and will be used to conduct network meta-analyses.Results:The results of this review will generate a comprehensive review of current evidence and be published on a peer-reviewed journal.Conclusions:The result of this network meta-analysis is expected to provide a possible ranking for acupuncture treatment methods of stable angina pectoris and offer better options for patients with stable angina pectoris.Ethics and dissemination:Ethical approval is not necessary since this protocol is only for systematic review and does not involve privacy data or conduct an animal experiment. Background:Many clinical trials and systematic reviews have suggested that acupuncture (include moxibustion) could be effective in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). However, clinical practices vary greatly leads to different choices which are mainly based on personal experience. The aim of this Bayesian network meta-analysis is to compare the efficacy of different acupuncture methods for DPN.Methods:Randomized controlled trials on acupuncture treatment of DPN published before January of 2021 will be searched in 9 databases including Medline, Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Excerpta Medica Database, Sinomed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang, and China Science and Technology Journal Database. The methodological assessment performed using the risk of bias assessment tool of Cochrane, and the level of evidence quality for the main results will be evaluated by a recommended grading, evaluation, formulation, and evaluation system approach. Bayesian network meta-analysis will be conducted using STATA V.14.0 and WinBUGS V.1.4.3.Results:The primary outcome involves: clinical efficacy. The secondary outcomes include: motor nerve conduction velocity, sensory nerve conduction velocity, Toronto clinical scoring system, Michigan neuropathy screening instrument, the modified Toronto Clinical Neuropathy Scale, the Utah early neuropathy scale, or the neuropathy disability score, and adverse reactions.Conclusion:To find the most effective acupuncture therapy for the treatment of DPN supported by evidence-based medicine.  相似文献

Background:Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common peripheral nerve compression syndrome of the upper limb. Plenty of studies showed the effects of acupuncture therapy on relieving pain and improving functional status for CTS patients. Diverse types of acupuncture therapies have been used in the treatment for CTS, but their relative treatment effects are poorly understood. This study will evaluate the effects of different acupuncture and related therapies for CTS by conducting a systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA).Methods:We will search randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of acupuncture and related therapies for CTS in MEDLINE (via PubMed), EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Database, Wanfang Database, WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, ClinicalTrials.gov, Chinese Clinical Trial Register, and OpenGrey from inception to November 2021. Then, we will select eligible studies, extract data, and conduct risk of bias assessment using the Cochrane tool. Pairwise meta-analysis and Bayesian NMA will be performed in Stata 15.1 software and Aggregate Data Drug Information System 1.16.8 software. We will assess the quality of the evidence using the Confidence in Network Meta-Analysis application.Results:In this study, the treatment effects and safety of different acupuncture and related therapies for CTS will be evaluated.Conclusion:This study will provide evidence for choosing the optimal acupuncture and related therapies in the treatment for CTS.  相似文献

Background:Opioid-induced constipation (OIC) is one of the most common complications of analgesic therapy for cancer pain patients who suffer moderate to severe pain. Acupuncture as an effective treatment in constipation has been widely applied. But its efficacy has not been assessed systematically. Thus, the purpose of this study is to provide a protocol to explore the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for OIC.Methods:Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) of acupuncture treatment for OIC in 4 Chinese electronic databases (China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese Biological and Medical Database, China Scientific Journal Database, Wan-Fang Data) and 3 English electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library) will be searched from their inception to September 31, 2020. RevMan 5.3 software and Stata 14.0 software will be used for meta-analysis, EndNote X9.2 and Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool will be used for literature screening and quality assessment.Results:This study will present an assessment of the efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment for OIC patients through summarize high-quality clinical evidence.Conclusion:The conclusion of our systematic review and meta-analysis may provide evidence of whether acupuncture treatment is beneficial to patients with OIC.INPLASY registration number: INPLASY2020100026.  相似文献

Introduction:Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is the most common cause of low back pain and severely affects people''s quality of life and ability to work. Although many clinical trials and medical reports conducted over the years have shown that acupuncture treatments are effective for LDH, the comparative effectiveness of these different acupuncture therapies is still unclear. This protocol of a network meta-analysis was designed to compare the effects and safety of acupuncture treatment regimens on LDH using both direct and indirect evidence.Methods and analysis:This protocol is reported according to the 2015 PRISMA-P and PRISMA guidelines for acupuncture. Eight databases and two platforms will be searched for articles published from their establishment to 1 December 2020 with medical subject heading terms and keywords. Three reviewers will verify the eligible randomized controlled trials independently. NoteExpress (3.2.0) software will be utilized to manage the literature. The overall quality of evidence will be evaluated by Confidence In Network Meta-Analysis (CINeMA). Additionally, we will conduct a meta-analysis of the effectiveness, recurrence rate, and symptom score of acupuncture in treating LDH using Review Manager (RevManV.5.4.1) and R4.0.2 software (The R Foundation for Statistical Computing).Results:The results of the study will be published in journals or relevant conferences.Conclusion:This proposed systematic review will evaluate the comparative efficacy and safety of various acupuncture methods and combination protocols for LDH.  相似文献

Background:Vascular dementia (VD) is the second most common form of dementia in the world. Acupuncture therapy has been widely used in clinical treatment. Based on the available evidence, we will rank different acupuncture therapy to determine the most effective acupuncture therapy.Methods:We will search the following database, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database and Chinese Scientific Journals Database database, in order to collect randomized controlled trials on acupuncture in the treatment of VD. We will use Stata 14.2 and WinBUGS 1.4.3 software for Bayesian network meta-analysis and finally evaluated the level of evidence of the results.Results:This study will compare and rank the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of vascular dementia. Outcome indicators included Alzheimer Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive section and Mini-mental State Examination, Activity of Daily Living, Blessed dementia scale, Hastgawa Dementia Scale, and adverse events.Conclusion:Our study will provide support for clinical practice.INPLASY registration number:INPLASY2020110088.  相似文献

Background:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture and massage combined with rehabilitation in the treatment of hemiplegia after stroke.Methods:To collect relevant literature, we will research following databases: Medicine, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wan-Fang Database, Chongqing VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodicaols Database, and China Biomedical Database; the time is from its creation to May 2021, and the language is limited to Chinese and English. In addition, we will retrieve other literature resources, including the Chinese Clinical Trial Register and conference articles. Two reviewers will independently complete the literature screen and data extraction and quality assessment of the included studies will be independently completed by two other researchers. The primary outcomes included the Modified Ashworth scale and the simplified Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale. The Modified Barthel Index, the China Stroke Scale, and adverse reactions as secondary outcomes were assessed. RevMan V.5.4.1 software will be used for meta-analysis, and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) will be used to assess the quality of evidence.Results:This systematic review will provide a high-quality synthesis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture and massage combined with rehabilitation in the treatment of hemiplegia after stroke, providing a reference for the safe and effective treatment of hemiplegia after stroke.Conclusion:This study provides evidence that acupuncture and massage combined with rehabilitation therapy is effective.Ethics and dissemination:The protocol of the systematic review does not require ethical approval because it does not involve humans.
