目的 探讨青少年自杀意念与家庭环境因素和心理弹性之间的关系。方法 采用整群抽样法,于2014年12月对河南省新乡市3 230名初高中生进行一般社会资料问卷及Kutcher青少年抑郁量表(11项)(KADS-11)、家庭环境量表中文版(FES-CV)、中文版心理弹性量表(CD-RISC)评估测评后,采用多因素logistic回归分析和病例对照研究探讨青少年家庭环境和心理弹性与自杀意念之间的关联。结果 有效问卷为2 960份,有自杀意念者247例(8.50%),其中男性98例,女性149例。多因素logistic回归分析显示,控制了年龄和性别因素后,单亲/再婚家庭模式与青少年自杀意念风险增加有关(OR=2.655)。男性青少年的自杀意念与家庭亲密度(OR=0.750,P < 0.001)及组织性(OR=0.855,P=0.036)呈明显负关联,与家庭矛盾性呈明显正关联(OR=1.159,P=0.017)。女性青少年的自杀意念与家庭亲密度(OR=0.771,P < 0.001)、情感表达(OR=0.815,P=0.001)及知识性(OR=0.915,P=0.037)存在负性关联。CD-RISC量表评估显示,有自杀意念的青少年心理弹性总得分明显低于无自杀意念的青少年(P < 0.05),有自杀意念青少年该量表中的能力、忍受消极情感、接受变化和控制4个维度的得分均比无自杀意念青少年低(P < 0.05)。结论 青少年家庭环境亲密度是青少年自杀意念的保护因素;男性青少年的家庭组织性和女性青少年家庭情感表达与降低自杀风险有关;增强心理弹性可能有助于降低青少年的自杀意念。  相似文献

We studied serum leptin levels in 189 healthy children to evaluate related factors during childhood and adolescence. Leptin correlated with body mass index (BMI), triceps skinfold thickness (p<0.001) and body weight (p<0.01). Obese children and girls had higher leptin levels than non-obese children and boys, respectively (p<0.001). In girls, leptin correlated positively with age, skinfold thickness and BMI (p<0.001). In boys, leptin correlated negatively with age (p<0.001) and positively with skinfold thickness (p<0.05). Prepubertal boys had higher leptin levels than prepubertal girls and pubertal boys (p<0.05). Pubertal girls had higher leptin levels than prepubertal girls and pubertal boys (p<0.001). Leptin levels in girls were higher at Tanner stages 4 and 5 than at stage 1 (p<0.001). In conclusion, serum leptin levels are related with adiposity, have obviously age-related gender differences during childhood and adolescence, and may be involved in the maturation of reproductive capacity.  相似文献

AIM: To evaluate possible sex differences in prevalence, diagnosis and treatment of asthma, and influence on lung function associated with asthma severity in a population-based birth cohort (BAMSE) of 4089 children. METHODS: At 4-y follow-up, 92% responded to a questionnaire on symptoms of asthma, current medication and doctor's diagnosis of asthma. A total of 2965 children participated in clinical testing, including measurements of peak expiratory flow (PEF), and were assigned to groups of asthma or no asthma by reported airway symptoms. RESULTS: Children in asthma groups had lower PEF readings compared to healthy children. This effect was most pronounced for both sexes in the persistent group (boys p<0.05, girls p<0.001) and for girls in the transient group (p<0.01). A doctor's diagnosis of asthma did not significantly differ between boys and girls, but significantly more boys than girls had inhaled corticosteroids, even when stratifying by frequency of symptoms. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that when 4-y-old children are stratified according to common diagnostic criteria, girls have a larger effect on PEF of asthma symptoms and are less frequently treated compared to boys.  相似文献

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Leptin and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) have been suggested to be involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between serum leptin, IGF-1 and intima-media thickness (IMT) and functions of common carotid artery (CCA) in children and adolescent patients with type 1 diabetes. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Serum leptin and IGF-1 levels were measured in 45 diabetic patients (23 girls and 22 boys). Age, diabetes duration as well as major cardiovascular risk factors, including anthropometric and metabolic parameters, were matched between girls and boys. The relation of serum leptin and IGF-1 levels to CCA structure and functions were measured by ultrasonography as IMT, cross-sectional compliance (CSC), cross-sectional distensibility (CSD), diastolic wall stress (DWS) and incremental elastic modulus (IEM). RESULTS: Serum leptin levels of diabetic girls were higher than those in the boys (21.8 +/- 14.5 microg/l vs 8.9 +/- 10.6 micro/l, p = 0.002). However, the difference for serum IGF-I levels was not significant between diabetic girls and boys (240.7 +/- 96.8 ng/ml vs 234.7 +/- 93.2 ng/ml; p > 0.05). In all subjects, leptin levels were correlated with CSC (p = 0.04), CSD (p = 0.04) and IEM (p = 0.01), and IGF-1 levels were only correlated with CSC (p = 0.01). Leptin did not show any correlation with ultrasonographic measurements in both girls and boys separately. IGF-1 was correlated with CSC (p = 0.001), CSD (p = 0.002) and IEM (p < 0.001) in boys but not in girls. In a multivariate regression model, IGF-1 emerged as independent correlates for mean CSD and IEM in boys but not in girls. CONCLUSION: Serum leptin and IGF-1 levels in children and adolescent patients with type 1 diabetes are associated with functions of common carotid artery, and the association of IGF-1 levels is influenced by sex.  相似文献

The hypothesized connection between adaptive style, specifically repressive adaptation, and the family environments of adolescent clinical samples was investigated. Adolescent patients (n = 221) were studied, who were then divided into four groups matched for sex, age, and socioeconomic status (mean age = 15.7 years, SD 2; sex = 14% boys, 86% girls; SES = 2.4). Grouping was based on the Marlowe Crowne Social Desirability Scale and Spielberger's Trait Anxiety Inventory Scores [repressors (n = 43), impression managers (n = 54), high anxious (n = 55) and low anxious (n = 69)]. Results by MANOVA, Scheffe and discriminate function analysis confirmed our hypothesis. Repressors had distinct family environments as measured by the Family Environment Scale (p = 0.0001). Families were characterized by high levels of cohesion, expressiveness, independence, and organization, displaying correspondingly low levels of achievement orientation, conflict, control and incongruence. Repression may be an effort to adapt to an idealized family environment.  相似文献

Advanced puberty is defined as the onset of puberty in girls at 8-10 years of age and in boys at 9-11 years. This study analyzes adult height in 57 children with advanced puberty to evaluate the results of treating children (9 girls and 8 boys) with gonadotropin hormone releasing hormone (GnRH) analog and the impact of advanced puberty on adult height in untreated children (31 girls and 9 boys). For treated girls, adult height predicted at the onset of treatment (151.9+/-1.7 cm) was similar to the final adult height (155.3+/-1.4 cm), but lower than target height (157.2+/-1.6 cm, p = 0.04). For untreated girls, adult height predicted at the initial evaluation (156.7+/-1 cm) was also similar to adult height (157+/-1 cm), but lower than the target height (157.6+/-1 cm, p = 0.03). The adult heights of both treated and untreated girls were similar to their target heights. For treated boys, adult height predicted at the onset of treatment (173.2+/-3.1 cm) was greater than the final adult height (164.1+/-2.1 cm, p = 0.01), which was lower than target height (170.4+/-1.2 cm, p = 0.01). For untreated boys, adult height predicted at the initial evaluation (170.8+/-2.7 cm) was similar to both the adult height (169.1+/-1.9 cm) and target height (170.2+/-1.2 cm). Height gains between the onset of puberty and adult height were similar in treated (29.9+/-2.3 cm in girls and 29.8+/-1.7 cm in boys) and untreated (28.6+/-1 and 33.1+/-2 cm) children. When expressed as SD, the adult height was significantly shorter than that at 4 years in treated girls (difference 1 SD, p = 0.03), in untreated girls (difference 0.9 SD, p = 0.0002) and in treated boys (difference 0.9 SD, p = 0.02), but it was similar to that in untreated boys. Adult height was below target height by >5 cm in seven girls (two of them treated) and five boys (four of them treated). In conclusion, treating advanced puberty did not change the adult height reached by girls, and was associated with reduced growth potential in boys. The adult heights of untreated children were similar to those predicted at the initial evaluation and to target heights, but in girls they were 1 SD lower than the height at 4 years. These data suggest that advanced puberty decreases the growth potential by about 5 cm, and that GnRH analog treatment does not prevent this.  相似文献

目的:探讨Tourette综合征(TS)儿童的主观生活质量状况,为其综合干预提供理论依据。方法:选取儿童保健科就诊的174例TS患儿(≥8岁)作为病例组,选取儿童保健科门诊的正常体检儿童186例(≥8岁)为对照组。采用病例对照研究的方法探讨TS儿童的主观生活质量状况。结果:TS儿童主观生活质量总分(156.6±21.1)低于对照组(164.2±21.2)(P<0.01),家庭生活、学校生活、认知成分、抑郁体验和焦虑体验得分(19.1±3.5,24.1±4.4,90.6±13.3,24.0±4.6,23.8±4.4)亦低于对照组(20.7±3.0,26.6±3.2,97.9±15.3,25.1±3.1,24.7±3.5)(P<0.05)。相关分析发现TS儿童主观生活质量总分与患儿年龄、病程、症状严重程度、儿童行为总分及家庭矛盾性呈负相关 (r=-0.432,-0.213,-0.869,-0.137, -0.257;均P<0.01),而与家庭娱乐性呈正相关(r=0.084,P<0.01)。多元逐步回归分析显示TS儿童主观生活质量的影响因素是症状严重程度、患儿年龄、家庭矛盾性和娱乐性(β′=-0.787,-0.171,-0.109,0.106;P<0.01)。结论:TS儿童主观生活质量不佳;为提高患儿主观生活质量,尽早控制临床症状与改善家庭环境是必要的。  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Girls have higher leptin concentrations than boys at all stages of biological development and this is also seen in the state of obesity. Little is known about whether gender and biological development of obese children influence changes in leptin associated with a short-term weight reduction program. OBJECTIVE: To study whether leptin concentration, body composition and insulin levels in obese children were influenced by a 3-week intervention program including diet and sports. STUDY DESIGN: Sixty-two obese children (32 boys and 30 girls) were examined before and after the intervention program. Body composition was measured by bioelectrical impedance and BMI-SDS was calculated. Serum leptin and serum insulin were determined by RIA. RESULTS: Girls had higher leptin levels than boys, before and after the weight reduction program. Body mass, fat mass (FM), leptin and insulin were decreased after the intervention in both sexes. We found a greater change in serum leptin in girls but the change in FM was of greater magnitude in boys. However, percentage changes in leptin were not significantly different between the sexes. Before the intervention, leptin concentrations were correlated with %FM, FM and moderately with BMI-SDS in all children. Only in pubertal boys did correlation of leptin with %FM increase after the intervention (from r=0.57 to r=0.75, p<0.01). Changes in leptin were found to be associated with initial leptin values in boys (r=0.95, p<0.01) and in girls (r=0.93, p<0.01), independent of Tanner stages. CONCLUSION: Serum leptin levels were positively correlated with adiposity in obese children and a diet and sports intervention program decreased serum leptin, insulin and body fat in all children. Changes in leptin were best described by the initial leptin concentration. The increase in correlation of leptin with %FM in obese pubertal boys after the intervention could have its underlying mechanism in an increased sensitivity to leptin and anabolic hormones.  相似文献

AIM: Normal growth patterns are seen throughout the first decade in children with cystic fibrosis (CF). Growth in the second decade is, however, less satisfactory and may reflect pubertal delay. This study was performed to assess the extent of pubertal delay, to examine factors that influence the timing and magnitude of the pubertal growth spurt, and to establish whether the final height for most CF patients differed significantly from the normal population. METHODS: Thirty subjects (16 male) attending a single centre were studied. Peak height velocity (PHV), final height and ages when achieved were compared with population norms. Outcome data were correlated with disease severity using Shwachman and Chrispin-Norman scores and forced expiratory volume in 1 s. RESULTS: PHV was significantly later in both genders in this CF population compared with Tanner and Whitehouse standards: boys 14.6 y (95% confidence interval (95% CI) 12.4-16.8, p < 0.01) and girls 12.6 y (95% CI 10.5-14.7, p < 0.01). Mean PHV was also lower in both genders (boys 7.7 cm y(-1) and girls 6.4 cm y(-1), both p<0.001). However, final heights did not differ significantly from Freeman standards (height standard deviation scores: males--1.2, females--0.1); 52% of final heights equalled or exceeded the mid-parental centile. CONCLUSION: CF patients showed suboptimal PHVs with a later pubertal growth spurt influenced by disease severity, but eventually achieved a normal final height.  相似文献

Size at birth of a random sample of 507 singleton healthy neonates (244 boys and 263 girls) of Shiraz (southern Iran) is presented. Mean +/- SD of girls and boys (p-value for sex difference) of supine length (mm), weight (g), mid upper arm circumference (mm), head circumference (mm) and chest circumference (mm) were estimated as 488 +/- 21 and 494 +/- 23 (p < 0.05); 3150 +/- 450 and 3300 +/- 500 (p < 0.005); 105 +/- 8 and 106 +/- 10 (p < 0.01); 342 +/- 13 and 346 +/- 15 (p < 0.0001); 324 +/- 18 and 326 +/- 20, (p > 0.05), respectively. Mothers' level of education, mothers' weight before conception and prior to giving birth, and family social class were identified as factors affecting size at birth, while birth order and fathers' level of education showed no significant effects on these measurements. Sizes at birth were significantly correlated together (p < 0.0001). The highest and lowest correlations were observed between chest circumference and weight (r = 0.77) and arm circumference and length of neonates (r = 0.45), respectively. The representativeness of the data suggest that the measurements obtained are likely to be applied to urban population of neonates of Iran.  相似文献

An abnormal pulmonary vasculature has been reported as an important component of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). We tested the hypothesis of an early abnormal vascular network pattern in infants with BPD. Fifteen infants with BPD (nine boys and six girls; gestational age 27.5 +/- 2.0 wk; birth weight 850 +/- 125 g) and 15 sex- and gestational age-matched infants (nine boys and six girls; gestational age 27.6 +/- 2.6 wk; birth weight 865 +/- 135 g) were examined on postnatal days 1 and 28. BPD infants showed a significantly higher prevalence of histologic chorioamnionitis (p = 0.009), as well as higher intubation duration (p = 0.0004), oxygen supplementation (p < 0.0001), and initial illness severity (p = 0.0002) than the BPD-negative population. The lower gingival and vestibular oral mucosa was chosen as the study area. The blood vessel area was determined, and the oral vascular networks were characterized by analyzing their complexity (D, at two scales: D 1-46, D 1-15), tortuosity (Dmin), and randomness (L-Z) of the vascular loops. Infants with BPD showed a significantly lower blood vessel area as well as a higher vascular network complexity (D 1-46, D 1-15, and L-Z) than control subjects (p < 0.0001). Our findings provide a new early clinical sign in BPD and stress the importance of an early disorder in the oral mucosal vascularization process in the disease pathogenesis.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between overweight status and physical activity (PA) among gender and ethnic (Hispanic vs. non-Hispanic) sub-groups in elementary school-age children. METHODS: PA was assessed over five days using the Actigraph accelerometer in 169 fourth grade students (mean age 9.4 years; 50% female; 63% Hispanic; and 43% overweight, defined as body mass index, BMI > or = 85th percentile for age and gender) from four elementary schools in Los Angeles County, California. RESULTS: In the total sample, boys and normal weight students had higher levels of total PA (counts per minute, cpm; p<0.05). Boys spent less time in sedentary PA (p=0.02) and more time in combined moderate to vigorous PA (MVPA, p=0.01). There was a significant gender, ethnicity, and overweight interaction for total PA and MVPA (both p<0.01). MVPA and counts per minute were significantly lower in overweight non-Hispanic girls and Hispanic boys (p<0.05) and marginally lower in overweight non-Hispanic boys (p=0.10) when compared with non-overweight students, while overweight Hispanic girls were more physically active than Hispanic non-overweight girls, though the difference was non-significant (p>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Data from the present study does not consistently support the prevailing hypothesis that overweight subjects engage in less PA. Results show overweight students engage in less PA than non-overweight students, with the exception that non-overweight Hispanic girls do not engage in more PA than their overweight peers. These results suggest the need for further investigation into the role that ethnicity and overweight status plays in PA levels, particularly among ethnic and gender sub-groups.  相似文献

We studied whether leptin is an independent associate of blood pressure in obese children and adolescence. 102 obese children (48 girls, age: 11.6 +/- 2.22 yr; body mass index [BMI]: 27.45 +/- 4.4; blood pressure: 122.5 +/- 11.1/64.7 +/- 10.6 mm Hg and 54 boys, age: 11.5 +/- 2.4 yr; BMI: 27.6 +/- 4.4; blood pressure: 122.5 +/- 13.2/60.9 +/- 8.1 mm Hg [mean +/- SD]) were investigated. Serum leptin and insulin were measured by RIA; glucose was determined enzymatically. Fat mass (FM) was calculated by bioelectrical impedance. Leptin was higher in girls than in boys (p=0.018) but no significant gender differences were found with respect to indices of adiposity and systolic blood pressure (SBP). Children were divided into three groups, according to pubertal stage (Group 1: prepubertal, 32 boys/13 girls; Group 2: pubertal, 17 boys/25 girls; Group 3: late/postpubertal, 5 boys/10 girls). SBP and DBP correlated with body weight in the whole group (r=0.49, p<0.0001, and r=0.27, p=0.004). In Group 1, BMI showed the highest correlation to SBP; in Group 3 no indices of adiposity were related to SBP. In no case was leptin significantly associated with SBP after adjustment for adiposity. In Group 2, glucose was significantly associated with SBP after adjustment for body weight. In Group 3, however, no correlations were found between SBP, DBP and metabolic characteristics, perhaps due to small sample size. Stepwise multiple regression revealed that body weight and glucose contributed to the variation in SBP in the whole group (R2=0.31, p<0.0001). Insulin accounted for almost 8% of the variation in DBP (R2=0.08, p=0.0034). Body weight contributed significantly to SBP in boys (R2=0.39, p<0.0001) and girls (R2=0.24, p< 0.001). The results imply that body weight contributes independently to the variation in blood pressure. Glucose and insulin contribute to mean blood pressure to some extent, but our data do not support the assumption that leptin per se serves as an independent predictor of blood pressure in obese children and adolescents.  相似文献

Allopregnanolone is the best characterized among neurosteroids, and its role in the control of neuroendocrine axes has attracted increasing interest recently. However, there is no available information about circulating levels of allopregnanolone during infancy, childhood and puberty. We studied two groups of children: 1) those aged between 0 and 2 y (n = 72), and 2) those aged between 6 and 18 y, at different Tanner's stages (n = 82). In each of these patients, serum allopregnanolone, progesterone, cortisol, and dehydroepiandrosterone levels were evaluated after informed consent; allopregnanolone was measured by RIA after acid extraction on cartridge. There was no significant variation of serum allopregnanolone levels either in male and female children during the first 2 y of life. Furthermore, although serum dehydroepiandrosterone levels showed a significant decrease, inversely correlated with age of the children (p < 0.01), serum cortisol and progesterone levels showed a significant age-related increase during the first 2 y of life. Cortisol and allopregnanolone levels were positively correlated (p < 0.01). During puberty, we observed a progressive increase in serum allopregnanolone levels in both boys and in girls, which were higher at Tanner' s stage IV-V (0.7+/-0.01 nM; mean +/- SEM) than at stages I-II (0.32+/-0.02 nM; p < 0.01); mean levels were significantly higher at puberty than in the first 2 y of life (p < 0.01). Furthermore, during puberty, serum progesterone and dehydroepiandrosterone levels also increased progressively with age in both boys and girls. Allopregnanolone and dehydroepiandrosterone levels were positively correlated throughout puberty. The present results indicate that serum allopregnanolone levels do not change during the first 2 y of life but increase during pubertal development, suggesting that this steroid may be involved in the adaptive neuroendocrine mechanisms related to puberty.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: High birth weight predicts subsequent obesity, but paradoxically, a reduced risk of subsequent cardiovascular disease compared with low birth weight. This apparent paradox might be explained if high birth weight programmed a greater proportion of subsequent lean mass, which carries less cardiovascular risk than fat tissue. AIM: The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that the direct correlation between birth weight and subsequent body mass index (BMI) represents an association between birth weight and lean tissue, and to assess the metabolic impact of this relationship. METHODS: A total of 234 healthy prepubertal children (133 boys, 101 girls, mean age 5.9 yr +/- 0.3 standard deviation) were studied. Birth weights were obtained from maternity records. Lean mass was measured by bioelectrical impedance. Anthropometric measures included height, weight (BMI), waist circumference, and subcutaneous fat mass (FM). Insulin resistance was assessed by the homeostasis model method. Metabolic correlates of insulin resistance included total and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, and sex-hormone-binding globulin. RESULTS: Birth weight correlated significantly with lean mass in boys (r = 0.41, p < 0.001) and girls (r = 0.27, p < 0.01). Adjusting for BMI did not improve the correlation further. After adjustment for FM, lean mass correlated inversely with triglycerides in boys only (r = -0.41, p < 0.01). Birth weight correlated inversely with triglycerides in boys (r = -0.18, p < 0.05); after adjustment for lean mass, this correlation was not significant. INTERPRETATION: In boys, the relationships between birth weight, triglycerides, and lean mass are consistent with the hypothesis. Overall, our findings provide limited evidence in support of the argument that higher birth weight predicts lower metabolic risk because it marks programming of more lean mass.  相似文献

AIM: To evaluate haemostatic effects and clinical outcome of oestrogen treatment of constitutionally tall stature in girls. METHODS: We conducted a single-centre cohort study, 63 girls referred over a period of 15 years were investigated. The girls were given oestrogen treatment for constitutional tall stature at a median initial dose of 300 ug ethinyl estradiol/day and were consecutively examined for changes in coagulation. Medical records were retrospectively reviewed, additional data were collected at follow-up by blood sampling and interviews. RESULTS: After 1 year of treatment, levels of antithrombin and von Willebrand factor (VWF) were significantly decreased (p<0.001 and p=0.015, respectively), whereas there was no significant change in levels of plasminogen inhibitor type 1. No venous thromboembolism (VTE) or major side effects were observed. Genetic risk factors for thrombosis were present, as was expected. The mean height reduction was 5.5 cm. The height-reducing effect was inversely correlated with chronological age (r=-0.44, p<0.01) and bone age (r=-0.61, p<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Changes in coagulation parameters occurred both towards pro- and anticoagulation. Treatment with high-dose ethinyl estradiol can successfully limit final height, and it is most effective when started at a younger bone age.  相似文献

Socioeconomic and psychosocial handicaps are often associated with disease. There is a large body of information on adults on such relationships, but data are sparse on children. In a cohort of 1028 boys and girls, selected at random from school classes in Province de Luxembourg, a mainly rural area of Belgium, these problems were analysed in age strata of 6-8, 8-10, 10-12 years. Participation rate was 71%. Information was collected from questionnaires,. Anthropometric variables, blood pressure and glucose as well as cholesterol, triglycerides and insulin were measured in the children and related to the psychosocial and socioeconomic factors, organized into rural, psychosocial, socioeconomic and alcohol/smoking clusters of observations. Rural: Duration of living in the area of the child and parents correlated with diastolic blood pressure, particularly in boys (p < 0.01). Psychosocial: Housewives (p = 0.002) and their children (p = 0.002) had higher body mass indexes (BMI) than other mothers and their children. Sons of housewives also had higher blood pressure (systolic, p = 0.0007, diastolic, p = 0.007). Socioeconomic: Socioeconomic factors of parents (profession, unemployment) played relatively minor roles. Alcohol/smoking: Alcohol consumption was related to skinfold thickness in boys (p = 0.022), but not in girls. Girls, but not boys, with smoking parents had higher BMI (p=0.014). Multiple regression analyses suggested that psychosocial factors, such as housewives as mothers of large families, may be important for associations with cardiovascular risk factors in their children. Recent findings have shown that leptin downregulates the steroid producing system in the adrenal. We studied the interactions of leptin, insulin and cortisol in obese children and adolescents at different stages of maturation. In 44 boys (age 11+/-3.1 yr, body mass index [BMI] 29+/-5.3 [mean +/- SD]) and 35 girls (age 11.4+/-2.6 yr, BMI 29+/-4.3), blood levels of leptin, insulin, cortisol, and glucose were determined. Fat mass (FM) was calculated by bioelectrical impedance. No significant differences were found between boys and girls with respect to humoral and anthropometric characteristics. When children were divided according to maturation stage (prepubertal, pubertal, and late/postpubertal) insulin was higher in the more mature groups (p<0.01) and leptin was higher in the pubertal group (p=0.03). In the prepubertal and pubertal groups, the expected positive relationship between adiposity and leptin was found although the magnitude of this association decreased with maturity. In none of the groups studied was cortisol significantly correlated to leptin. Insulin (p=0.03) and glucose (p=0.01) were positively associated with cortisol in the prepubertal group after adjustment for adiposity. However, in the pubertal group an inverse correlation was found between insulin and cortisol (p=0.03), and between insulin and glucose after control for adiposity. In the late/ postpubertal group, no significant correlations were found between estimates of adiposity and humoral parameters even after adjustment for gender. Stepwise multiple regression failed to detect a significant influence of cortisol to explain the variation in leptin, and vice versa. BMI contributed to the variation in leptin (adj. R2 =0.275, p<0.0001), and glucose added 5% to the variation in cortisol (p=0.03). The results do not confirm the inverse association between leptin and cortisol found in adults. Although BMI reflects levels of leptin, it is likely that several other factors in conjunction with fatness modulate the relationship with leptin. Whether leptin per se exerts an influence on the hypothalamic-adrenal-adipo axis remains to be investigated in longitudinal studies.  相似文献

Aims: To study changes and associated risk factors in 8‐year‐old children’s soiling at three time points: 1989, 1999 and 2005. Methods: Three cross‐sectional representative samples were compared. All children born in 1981 (1989 sample, n = 1038), 1991 (1999 sample, n = 1035) and 1997 (2005 sample, n = 1030) living in selected school districts in south‐west Finland served as study samples. Parents were asked about the child’s soiling at age eight. Information about parental education level, family structure and child psychopathology was obtained from parents, teachers and children. Results: The prevalence of soiling among 8‐year‐old boys was very similar (1989/1999/2005: 4.9%/4.9%/4.5%) while among girls the prevalence increased (1.0%/2.9%/3.7%; p < 0.05) during the 16‐year period. Living in a non‐intact family and mother’s lower education level were associated with soiling among boys, while a high level of conduct, emotional and self‐reported depressive symptoms was associated with soiling among girls. Hyperactivity symptoms were associated with soiling among both boys and girls. Conclusions: The study shows an increase in prevalence of soiling among girls. Soiling among girls is associated with psychiatric problems.  相似文献

For the purpose of making norms of ultrasonographic renal length in Indian children, 240 children (137 boys and 103 girls) below 5 years of age were subjected to sonographic evaluation in supine position. Left renal length increased from 59.18 mm, in infancy to 81.89 mm between 4–5 years age in female children. Similar increase was observed in male children. There was no statistically significant difference in renal length in boys and girls in various age groups (p 0.05 to 0.1). Right renal length measured 1–3.5 mm than less than the left renal length, and this difference was statistically significant (p 0.05 to 0.0002) in both sexes. Renal length positively correlated to subject's age, length/height, body weight and body surface area in that order.  相似文献
