Twelve different plant and animal proteins were fed to rats for 4 weeks. Trypsin inhibitor (TI) content of the diet was significantly correlated with (although not directly related in all cases to) pancreas weights and with the pancreatic biochemical parameters that indicate hypertrophy. In vitro, but not in vivo, digestibility was correlated with the TI content of the diet. Quantity of DNA per gram pancreas was not found to be related to TI content. A second experiment compared graded levels of TI from raw or heated soy flour and soy protein isolate (SPI). The SPI diet produced higher relative pancreas weights per TIU than did the flour diets. Two commercial SPI's were fed as is or autoclaved in a third experiment. Autoclaving to very low TI values made no improvement in weight gain or pancreatic parameters measured, indicating that there may be a threshold level of TI below which rat pancreata do not respond, and that other factors in SPI are responsible for the slight pancreatic enlargement seen with SPI compared to casein.  相似文献

The effects on the pancreas of chronic (95 wk) dietary exposure to protease inhibitors from soy and potato were compared in rats and mice. Soy and potato trypsin inhibitor (TI) concentrates were prepared from defatted raw soy flour and potato juice, respectively, by selective precipitation and ultrafiltration. Animals were fed a diet in which casein supplied approximately 20% protein. Each concentrate (less than 1% of the diet) was added to provide 100 and 200 mg of trypsin inhibitor activity per 100 g of diet. In short-term (28 d) experiments in rats, both sources of TI decreased the apparent nutritional quality of casein and produced pancreatic hypertrophy consistent with a hormonally mediated feedback mechanism for pancreatic adaptation to diet that is interactive with the nutritional status of the animal. After long-term feeding (95 wk), soy and potato TI produced dose-related pancreatic pathology in rats consisting of nodular hyperplasia and acinar adenoma, which was typical of that associated with raw soy flour. Although mice responded similarly to rats to soy TI in short-term (28-d) feeding experiments, they were resistant to the formation of these lesions following long-term feeding. This considerable species variation in propensity to develop preneoplastic and neoplastic lesions of the pancreas is not predicted by the short-term hypertrophic and hyperplastic response of the pancreas to TI.  相似文献

The specific components of soy responsible for its beneficial effects on plasma lipids are unknown. Golden Syrian F(1)B Hybrid hamsters (75 male, 74 female) were evaluated for the effect of dietary soy and soy isoflavones on plasma lipids. They were fed the following diets for 16 wk: casein/lactalbumin (C/L), soy protein with isoflavones [Soy(+)], soy protein with isoflavones removed [Soy(-)], Soy(-) plus isoflavone extract (IF), and C/L + IF. At necropsy, plasma total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol (HDLC), LDL + VLDL cholesterol (LDL + VLDLC), isoflavones, and uterine and accessory gland weights were measured. Male hamsters fed the three soy-containing diets had lower LDL + VLDLC concentrations than those fed the two C/L diets (P < 0.01), and those fed Soy(-) + IF did not differ from those fed Soy(+). In females, diet did not affect plasma LDL + VLDLC concentration. Females fed Soy(+) or Soy(-) had higher HDLC (P < 0.05) than those fed C/L. HDLC was not affected by diet in males. Due to higher equol production (P < 0.01), males had greater plasma isoflavone concentrations (P < 0.01) than females. There was a positive association between plasma total isoflavones and LDL + VLDLC (r = 0.65, P < 0.05) in females. These data suggest gender differences in plasma lipid and isoflavone responses to soy- based diets in Syrian F(1)B Hybrid hamsters, which offer an opportunity to explore effects of sex hormones on isoflavone metabolism and the effects of isoflavones on lipid metabolism.  相似文献

Previous research with an animal model of retinoid-induced hypertriglyceridemia, rats fed a 13-cis retinoic acid-containing diet in which casein was the dietary protein, has demonstrated that replacement of dietary casein with soy protein isolate can reduce the severity of this condition. A depressant action of soy protein vs. that of casein on serum triglyceride concentration has also been demonstrated in rats fed purified diets without supplemental retinoid. Because this action of soy protein appears to be due to its having a higher arginine-to-lysine ratio than casein, a study was done to determine how feeding a casein-containing diet supplemented with sufficient arginine, to give a dietary arginine-to-lysine ratio equivalent to that of soy protein, would affect the development of retinoid-induced hypertriglyceridemia. Groups of five-week-old male Fischer 344 rats (n = 7/group) were fed a control diet containing casein or one of three 13-cis retinoic acid-containing diets in which dietary nitrogen was provided as casein, casein + arginine, or soy protein. Incorporation of dietary 13-cis retinoic acid resulted in hypertriglyceridemia, with serum triglyceride concentrations of 2.00 and 7.23 mmol/l, or 177 and 640 mg/dl, for groups fed the control and casein + 13-cis retinoic acid diets, respectively. For animals fed the 13-cis retinoic acid-containing diets, serum triglyceride levels for the casein + arginine and soy protein diet groups (4.75 and 2.92 mmol/l, or 421 and 258 mg/dl, respectively) were significantly lower than for the casein group (p < 0.05); however, the value was significantly lower for the group fed the soy protein diet than for the group fed the casein + arginine diet. Serum and dietary arginine-to-lysine ratios were highly correlated (r = 0.93, p < 0.0001). Thus, supplementing dietary casein with arginine reduced the severity of retinoid-induced hypertriglyceridemia, but not as effectively as replacing casein with soy protein.  相似文献

The lithogenic diet routinely used for production of gallstones in hamsters contains 20% casein. It has previously been shown that replacement of casein by soy protein significantly decreases gallstone formation. In this study hamsters were fed a lithogenic diet containing casein (C), soy isolate (S), C/S 3:1, C/S 1:1, and C/S 1:3. The percentages of hamsters with gallstones on these five diets were: 44, 12, 38, 23, and 15. Biliary cholesterol levels and lithogenic index both decreased significantly with increasing levels of soy protein. Dilution of casein with soy protein progressively decreases lithogenicity.  相似文献

The effects of iron nutrition and soy protein on iron absorption by rats was studied. Rats were fed semipurified diets containing either 0, 5, or 20 micrograms of added iron per gram of diet to obtain groups with different iron status. After 3 weeks the rats had mean hemoglobin concentrations of 7.0, 10.7 and 13.2 g/dl, respectively. As the rats became more anemic, percent iron absorption from casein and soy protein diets increased. The relative availability of iron from soy compared with casein-based diets was 70 to 90%. Iron status did not affect the relative iron availability among treatments. The rat trials did not indicate any significant differences between iron absorption from meals containing soy flour (SF), soy protein concentrate (SC) or soy protein isolate (SI) regardless of the iron status of the rat. These studies do not support the hypothesis that the subject's iron status will affect the relative availability of iron from foods. Recent human iron absorption studies suggest that relative iron availability from meals containing soy proteins is lower than expected based on rat studies. Furthermore, differences in iron availability between soy flour and soy isolate observed in human studies are not apparent in these rat studies.  相似文献

Sulfite oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of sulfite to sulfate. To investigate whether or not sulfite oxidase activity (EC 1.8.3.1) is regulated by the amount of sulfur from dietary protein or excess methionine, we fed rats diets containing 5, 10, 20 and 50% casein with or without excess methionine and measured sulfite oxidase activity in liver and intestinal mucosa. Hepatic sulfite oxidase activity was significantly lower in rats fed 5 or 10% casein diets and significantly higher in rats fed 50% casein than in rats fed the control diet containing 20% casein, but activity did not change in response to the addition of methionine at any level of protein. Sulfite oxidase activity in the intestinal mucosa was only 5% of that seen in liver and did not change in response to dietary protein or methionine. Activity did not change in rats fed low iron diets (5 mg Fe/kg diet) at any level of protein tested or in response to glycine. These results show that sulfite oxidase activity can adapt to different levels of dietary protein but is unaffected by the level of methionine, total amino nitrogen or iron in the diet.  相似文献

The effects of dietary p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), protein, methionine and threonine on Plasmodium berghei infection in mice were investigated. Animals were fed diets containing 12 or 20% casein supplemented with PABA (0 or 2 mg/kg diet), methionine (0 or 15 mg/g casein) and threonine (0, 7.5, 27.5 or 47.5 mg/g casein). Percent mortality was lower in rats fed diets without PABA than in those fed diets containing PABA. All further experiments were conducted without supplemental PABA. While the mean day of death was greater in the groups fed 12% casein, percent mortality in these groups was nearly twofold higher than in the groups fed 20% casein. The presence or absence of 15 mg methionine per gram casein had no effect on percent mortality, mean day of death, or percent parasitemia, regardless of dietary casein level. Supplementation of threonine at any level to the 12% casein diet with supplemental methionine resulted in mortality rates similar to those from animals fed the 20% casein diets, but percent mortality was not altered by threonine in the absence of supplemental methionine. The mean day of death of animals fed 20% casein increased with increments of added threonine. Methionine had no influence on this phenomenon. It is concluded that the quantity of dietary protein and the quality of its amino acid composition can have profound effects on the susceptibility of mice to malaria.  相似文献

Experiments were carried out to examine the possibility that the sulfur amino acid metabolism of rats may be an indicator of the nutritional value of dietary protein. Rats were fed diets containing 8, 16 or 24% of gluten, soy protein or casein for 3 wk. Hepatic cysteine dioxygenase activity, hepatic concentration of glutathione, cysteine and taurine and urinary taurine were examined. In addition, the sulfur amino acid metabolism of rats fed these diets fortified with the appropriate first limiting amino acid for 7 d was also examined. High urinary taurine excretion was observed in the three gluten groups, whereas very low urinary taurine excretion was observed with up to 24% soy protein or up to 16% casein. The hepatic hepatic cysteine dioxygenase activities of the gluten diet groups were higher than those of corresponding soy protein or casein diet groups, except that of rats fed the 24% casein diet. The hepatic concentrations of both glutathione and cysteine in gluten diet groups were also higher than those of corresponding soy protein or casein diet groups, except 24% soy protein and 16 and 24% casein diet groups. In rats fed the casein or soy protein diets urinary taurine excretion and hepatic cysteine dioxygenase activity increased with increasing methionine supplementation, the first limiting amino acid. Conversely, in rats fed the gluten diet both urinary taurine excretion and hepatic cysteine dioxygenase activity decreased with increasing lysine supplementation, the first limiting amino acid. These findings suggest that urinary taurine excretion and hepatic cysteine dioxygenase activity may be useful as sensitive indicators of the nutritional value of dietary protein.  相似文献

The effects of methionine and arginine supplementation on protein adequacy of two commercial caseins (ANRC and U.S. Biochemicals) in diets containing 20% fat were investigated in weanling rats. They were fed basal 18% protein (20% casein) diets and basal diets supplemented with 0.25% L-methionine, 0.35% L-arginine or methionine + arginine for a period of four weeks. The unsupplemented basal diets contained 1.38–1.41 mg of methionine + cystine and 1.46–1.49 mg of arginine per kilocalorie and were similar in nutrient composition to those utilized for evaluation of dietary oils. The methionine and arginine supplemented diets contained 1.92–1.96 mg of methionine + cystine and 2.23±2.27 mg of arginine per kilocalorie. Dietary supplementation with methionine, arginine or methionine + arginine had no significant (P>0.05) effects on food consumption; weight gain; protein efficiency ratio; net protein ratio; liver protein utilization; or liver, heart and kidney weight in rats. These results suggest that all amino acid requirements for rat growth are met by 20% unsupplemented casein of the types tested here.  相似文献

The ability of a previously described soy-derived antiapoptotic fraction (SDAAF), a soy water extract (Lexirin), and raw soy flour to inhibit methotrexate (MTX)-induced gastrointestinal damage was evaluated by histological examination of duodenal/jejunal sections from MTX-treated rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed diets containing casein as a sole protein source or diets supplemented with fractions isolated from soy (SDAAF or Lexirin) before and after MTX treatment. The soy fractions were also shown to inhibit serum deprivation-induced programmed cell death (apoptosis) in mouse embryonic C3H10T1/2 cells. Protein sequence (Lexirin) and enzyme activity (Lexirin and SDAAF) were also analyzed. Rats that received SDAAF- and Lexirin-supplemented diets had significantly reduced necrotic and apoptotic damage in the duodenal mucosa, as demonstrated by difference in villi height, mitotic activity, epithelial cell height, and inflammatory response.  相似文献

We examined the role of resistant protein and peptides in promoting cecal butyrate production in rats fed rapidly fermentable carbohydrates. Rats were fed diets containing raw potato starch (RPS, 200 g/kg diet) or fructooligosaccharide (FOS, 60 g/kg diet) with casein, soy or rice protein (250 g/kg diet) for 13 d. In rats fed RPS with casein, the major cecal organic acid was acetate (441 micromol), but lactate and succinate were also found in considerable amounts (324 micromol). Succinate was the major cecal organic acid (235 micromol) in rats fed FOS with casein. When rice protein was fed with RPS, the contribution of lactate was significantly lower and that of propionate tended to be higher (P < 0.1) than in rats fed casein. In rats fed rice protein with FOS, cecal butyrate and acetate were greater and cecal succinate was lower than in rats fed casein with FOS (P < 0.05). Despite the similar amounts of undigested protein in rice and soy proteins, soy protein did not similarly affect cecal butyrate in rats fed FOS or RPS. In another experiment, rats were fed diets containing high amylose cornstarch (HAS, 200 g/kg diet) with casein, casein + oligo-L-methionine (OM, 3 g/kg diet), soy protein, soy protein + OM (3 g/kg diet) or rice protein (250 g/kg diet) for 10 d. OM (digestibility, 31%) was substituted for the same amount of casein. Rats fed rice protein had greater cecal butyrate than rats fed casein (P < 0.05). OM supplementation to casein or soy protein increased cecal butyrate compared with rats fed casein or soy protein alone (P < 0.05). These data support our hypothesis that resistant protein and peptides promote cecal butyrate production and suggest that the differing potency of rice and soy proteins in promoting cecal butyrate production might be explained in part by the different amino acid composition of resistant protein.  相似文献

The ability of soy to induce phase II detoxification enzymes was evaluated in male Sprague‐Dawley rats. Soybeans contain biologically active compounds that are known inducers of phase II enzyme activity. Rats were fed soy flour (SF) or soy protein isolate (SPI) to provide 75% of total protein as soy. Rats were given free access to food for one‐and two‐week periods before enzyme activity was compared with that of casein control groups (AIN‐93G). Hepatic glutathione S‐transferase (GST) activity was significantly greater in rats fed SF for one and two weeks and in rats fed SPI for two weeks than in controls. Quinone reductase activity was significantly greater (12‐ to 14‐fold) in the colon of rats fed SF and SPI for two weeks and in serum (1.8‐ to 2‐fold) in the SF group at one and two weeks. Liver, kidney, and small intestine uridine 5'‐diphosphate‐glucuronosyl transferase activity was significantly increased in the SPI and SF groups at two weeks. A time dependence in induction of phase II enzymes was observed in several tissues. There was no significant difference in total liver glutathione in either diet group compared with controls. The data indicate that dietary soy enhances phase II enzyme activity, especially quinone reductase and uridine 5'‐diphosphate‐glucuronosyl transferase, which could lead to protection from potentially harmful xenobiotics.  相似文献

There is growing evidence that soy protein improves the blood lipid profiles of animals and humans. We compared the effects of fish protein hydrolysate (FPH), soy protein, and casein (control) on lipid metabolism in Wistar rats and genetically obese Zucker (fa/fa) rats. In Zucker rats, FPH treatment affected the fatty acid composition in liver, plasma, and triacylglycerol-rich lipoproteins. The mRNA levels of Delta 5 and Delta 6 desaturases were reduced by FPH and soy protein feeding compared with casein feeding. In Zucker rats both FPH and soy protein treatment reduced the plasma cholesterol level. Furthermore, the HDL cholesterol:total cholesterol ratio was greater in these rats and in the Wistar rats fed FPH and soy protein compared with those fed casein. Although fecal total bile acids were greater in soy protein-fed Zucker rats than in casein-fed controls, those fed FPH did not differ from the controls. However, the acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase activity was reduced in Zucker rats fed FPH and tended to be lower (P = 0.13) in those fed soy protein compared with those fed casein. Low ratios of methionine to glycine and lysine to arginine in the FPH and soy protein diets, compared with the casein diet, may be involved in lowering the plasma cholesterol concentration. Our results indicate that the effects of FPH and soy protein on fatty acid metabolism are similar in many respects, but the hypocholesterolemic effects of FPH and soy protein appear to be due to different mechanisms. FPH may have a role as a cardioprotective nutrient.  相似文献

The aim of the present work was to show that cottonseed flour introduced into rehabilitation diets is not nutritionally harmful. The cottonseed flour obtained from glandless seeds contains traces of gossypol. As gossypol is known to have pathological hepatic and testicular actions, the effects on hepatic variables and on the histological appearance of liver and testis of diets containing cottonseed flour were compared with those without cottonseed flour. Seventy growing male Wistar rats were divided into two groups. The control group (C) received a balanced diet (200 g casein + 3 g methionine/kg) for 78 d and the experimental group was fed on a low-protein diet (20 g casein + 3 g methionine/kg) for 29 d. After the period of protein deprivation, the depleted rats were divided into four groups and each group was refed with a different diet, for 49 d: a balanced diet (200 g casein + 3 g methionine/kg; rC), maize-soya-bean flour-milk (60:30:5, by wt; MSM), maize-cottonseed flour-milk (60:30:5, by wt; MCM) or rice-cottonseed flour-milk (60:30:5, by wt; RCM). Each diet was supplemented with a vitamin mixture (10 g/kg) and a salt mixture (40 g/kg). In the liver, protein, total lipid, fatty acid composition and nucleic acid contents were determined after 29 d of protein deprivation and after 2, 14, 29, 49 d of refeeding. The refeeding of rats with either diet MSM or RCM promoted a higher growth than that with diet MCM or diet rC. In all groups, a progressive decrease in relative liver weights with age was observed. The highest values were obtained with diets rC and MSM. After 49 d of refeeding, the lowest values for lipid, DNA and protein:RNA and the highest values for RNA and RNA:DNA were obtained with the cottonseed diets (MCM and RCM). Rats fed on the cottonseed-flour diets for a 49 d period after severe protein malnutrition showed no change in size or shape of their hepatocytes compared with those obtained with the control casein diet, and all stages of spermatogenesis occurred normally and spermatozoa were accurately formed. Therefore, our findings show that a low level of gossypol administrated during 49 d, even to an organism weakened by protein malnutrition, does not affect hepatic variables and the histological appearance of liver and testis.  相似文献

Six groups of five female rats each aged 6 weeks at start were fed different diets for a period of 15 days. The protein sources of diets used were: a) 10% casein: b) wheat: c) Bengalgram: d) wheat + lysine: and e) Bengalgram + methionine + cystine + tryptophan, all containing 1.6 g nitrogen/100 g, and f) 20% casein (3.2 g nitrogen/100 g diet). The group of five rats fed a 10% casein diet served as control. It was observed that total brain RNA, protein and free alpha amino nitrogen content and protein/DNA ratio were significantly decreased on wheat and Bengalgram diets as compared to the control. The specific activities of glutamine synthetase, glutaminase I, glutaminase II and glutamate decarboxylase and concentrations of aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glutamine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain were also decreased on wheat and Bengalgram diets. The fortification of wheat with lysine and of Bengalgram with methionine, cystine and tryptophan did not alter brain weight and DNA content. While brain RNA, protein free alpha amino nitrogen (F alpha AN) and activities of enzymes of glutamic acid metabolism and related amino acid levels were restored, the activity of enzyme glutamine transferase and alanine concentration remained unaltered on various diets fed. The observations on 20% casein diet showed that levels were similar to those observed on 10% casein diet.  相似文献

Raw and heated soy flour and casein diets were compared in rats, pigs, and monkeys with respect to growth, pancreatic changes, fecal trypsin, and nitrogen digestibility. Cholecystokinin injection was compared to feeding raw soy flour and casein in rats and casein in pigs. Several soy protein preparations were fed to rats and monkeys. Neither raw soy flour nor any other soy product produced pancreatic enlargement in pigs or monkeys. Casein and heated soy flour performed similarly. By comparison, other effects of raw soy flour were as follows. Growth was depressed 60% in rats and 84% in pigs, but not at all in monkeys. Nitrogen digestibility was depressed 5, 45, and 9% in rats, pigs, and monkeys, respectively. Pancreatic DNA, RNA, and protein levels were unchanged in monkeys fed raw soy flour. In rats, RNA per milligram pancreas was increased 40%, in pigs 20%. Pancreatic protein was decreased 7% in pigs and increased 47% in rats. Changes in pancreatic trypsin, chymotrypsin, lipase, and amylase were dissimilar in the three species. Fecal trypsin was elevated 300-400% in rats, and decreased approximately 50% in pigs and monkeys. Cholecystokinin injections in pigs and rats produced changes both quantitatively and qualitatively different from those seen with raw soy flour. Feeding of heated soy flour or soy protein isolates was comparable to feeding casein in all three species, and produced no deleterious effects.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The effects of soy protein isolate (SPI) versus casein on blood lipids and adiposity were investigated in rats fed methionine-equivalent diets. METHODS: Twenty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats (230 to 250 g) were assigned in equal numbers to groups consuming SPI- or casein-based diets (20%) supplemented with L-methionine. After 28 d, blood was collected for triacylglycerol, total cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol assessment and epididymal fat pads were weighed. RESULTS: Food intake (519 +/- 90 versus 490 +/- 115 g), weight gain (144 +/- 35 versus 133 +/- 28 g), food efficiency ratio (0.29 +/- 0.09 versus 0.28 +/- 0.06), epididymal fat pad weights (5.409 +/- 2.076 versus 4.768 +/- 1.867 g), and serum concentrations of triacylglycerol (96.3 +/- 41.8 versus 93.4 +/- 37.4 mg/dL) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (32.6 +/- 7.4 versus 33.8 +/- 4.4 mg/dL) were similar between the casein and SPI groups, respectively. However, total cholesterol (73.8 +/- 17.8 versus 59.3 +/- 11.9 mg/dL) concentration was higher for the casein-fed rats than for the SPI-fed rats, respectively (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that methionine supplementation may eliminate the decreased fat deposition previously ascribed to soy protein; however, methionine did not abolish the commonly observed hypocholesterolemic effects of soy.  相似文献

The nutritional effects of feeding raw and heated soy flour to young golden Syrian hamsters were investigated over a period of 32 days. Those animals fed raw soy flour grew much more poorly than those fed heated soy flour, an effect which was reflected in a lower food efficiency as well. Growth retardation of hamsters fed raw soy flour was accompanied by a lower apparent digestibility of the protein (54%) compared to heated soy flour (76%). The pancreases of animals fed raw soy flour were increased in size and had elevated levels of trypsin, chymotrypsin, amylase, and lipase. With the exception of trypsin activity in the small intestine, similar differences in enzyme activities between the raw and heated soy groups were generally found in the small intestine, cecum, large intestine, and feces. There was, however, a progressive decrease in these activities in the lower regions of the intestinal tract and feces. It is concluded that the hamster, in common with several other species of animals, is sensitive to the effects of the trypsin inhibitors in raw soy flour, and may provide a useful model for studying the long-term effects of trypsin inhibitors on the pancreas.  相似文献

Consumption of soy foods has been weakly associated with reduced colon cancer risk. Colon cancer risk is influenced by estrogen exposure, although the mechanism through which this occurs is not defined. Conversion of estradiol (E2) to estrone (E1) may be protective in the colon. We hypothesized that dietary phytoestrogens, or E1, would reduce colon tumorigenesis via an estrogen receptor (ER)-dependent mechanism. Ovariectomized ERalphaKO or wild-type (WT) female mice were fed diets containing casein (Casein), soy protein without isoflavones (Soy-IF), soy protein + genistein (Soy+Gen), soy protein + NovaSoy (Soy+NSoy) or soy protein + estrone (Soy+E1) from weaning. Colon tumors were induced with azoxymethane. Tumor incidence was affected by diet but not genotype. Colon tumor incidence was lower in ERalphaKO and WT mice fed the Soy+E1 diet compared with those fed the casein or Soy-IF diets. Mice fed Soy+NSoy had a lower tumor incidence than mice fed casein, but not Soy-IF. Genistein did not affect tumor incidence. Soy protein, independently of phytoestrogens or E1, significantly reduced relative colon weight, tumor burden and multiplicity. Relative colon weight was lower (P=0.008) in mice fed Soy+E1 than in the other soy-fed groups. Tumor incidence in this group was lower than in the casein and soy-IF-fed groups and tended to be lower than in the others (P=0.020). Hence, soy protein and NSoy protect mice from colon cancer, and E1 further reduces colon tumorigenesis in mice, independently of ERalpha.  相似文献
