A survey study using questionnaire was conducted in 530 people (270 men, 260 women) living or not in vicinity of cellular phone base stations, on 18 Non Specific Health Symptoms. Comparisons of complaints frequencies (CHI-SQUARE test with Yates correction) in relation with distance from base station and sex, show significant (p < 0.05) increase as compared to people living > 300 m or not exposed to base station, till 300 m for tiredness, 200 m for headache, sleep disturbance, discomfort, etc. 100 m for irritability, depression, loss of memory, dizziness, libido decrease, etc. Women significantly more often than men (p < 0.05) complained of headache, nausea, loss of appetite, sleep disturbance, depression, discomfort and visual perturbations. This first study on symptoms experienced by people living in vicinity of base stations shows that, in view of radioprotection, minimal distance of people from cellular phone base stations should not be < 300 m.  相似文献

Objective

To determine whether beliefs in medicines are associated with forgetfulness and carelessness in taking medications.

Methods

Using a survey research design, baseline data (N = 1220) and follow-up data (N = 1024) were collected through an Internet survey using a convenience sample from Medicare enrollees aged 65 and older and who were Internet users. Logistic regression models were used to determine if patient's beliefs about the necessity of taking prescribed medications and their concern beliefs regarding the potential consequences of taking medications were significant in predicting forgetfulness and carelessness in taking medications.

Results

Concern beliefs in medicines were a significant predictor of forgetfulness and carelessness in taking medications.

Conclusion

If all cases of forgetfulness and carelessness in taking medications are considered as unintentional non-adherence with no reference to the patient's beliefs in medicines; using cue based interventions such as phone reminders or alarms are not likely to reduce non-adherence. There was a strong association between patient belief in medications and non-adherence in older adults who were Medicare enrollees.

Practical implications

It is important that researchers consider the influence that patient medication beliefs have on patient adherence to develop better interventions to reduce non-adherence.  相似文献

We aimed to investigate to which extent posterior auricular muscle (PAM) was affected and whether it contributed to the reflex activity in hemifacial spasm (HFS) patients. 19 HFS patients' spasm activities were recorded from facial muscles. Spasm activity of PAM was recorded synchronously on the symptomatic side in all patients. Lateral spread of blink reflex to orbicularis oris and PAMs were recorded in all but two patients. Botulinum toxin was applied to the PAM with the 14 patients presenting tinnitus, "clicking" or a "ticking" sound on the sane side and other positive auricular symptoms. After treatment, there was symptomatic improvement in 9 of 14 patients. The patients presenting with auricular symptoms and showing spasm activity in their PAMs can be thought as a candidate for botulinum toxin treatment scheme.  相似文献

The respective effects of pentobarbital-sodium, enibumal-sodium, urethane, urethane-chloralose and lidocaine on the function of the acoustic middle ear reflex in the rabbit were studied. The response of the middle ear muscles was measured by recording changes in both ears' acoustic impedance when the reflex was elicited by applying pure tone stimuli (2000 Hz) to the two ears one at a time. In that way both the crossed and the uncrossed reflexes were studied. All the drugs were found to depress the reflex in such a way that a higher sound intensity was required after administration to achieve the same impedance change as before. The effect of the anesthetics was roughly proportional to their known anesthetic power. Lidocaine produced only a slight depression of the reflex. The crossed reflex showed a greater susceptibility to the general anesthetics than did the uncrossed reflex which suggests a greater complexity of the crossed reflex. Because the method of recording the reflex response does not require any surgery and is equally well applicable in unrestrained rabbits and in humans, it is suggested as a way of testing the effect of drugs on the central nervous system.  相似文献

传统的体温测量方式逐渐不能满足日常和临床需求,为实现对体温的长时监测和对疾病发作时的体温异常予以警示,本文研制出一种具有普适性的基于T型热电偶以及无线蓝牙通信模块的手机无线测温及记录模块,所实现功能可以方便、快捷地获取人体体表连续的温度信息并在温度发生异常时发出报警.性能测试实验不仅对比了记录卡与商用Agilent数据采集仪所测量的温度数值,还评估了其报警功能.结果 表明,记录卡能准确测量温度信息、实时将其发送至手机终端并实现海量数据存储;在设置一定报警阈值后,若将测温热电偶置于高于报警温度的温水中,手机会自动发出报警蜂鸣音.这种体温检测及报警技术提供了一种便捷、低成本的温度记录方式,在健康管理及医疗卫生行业有广泛用途.  相似文献

The rapid increase in the use of mobile phones (MPs) in recent years has raised the problem of health risk connected with high-frequency electromagnetic fields. There are reports of headache, dizziness, numbness in the thigh, and heaviness in the chest among MP users. This paper deals with the neurological effect of electromagnetic fields radiated from MPs, by studies on heart rate variability (HRV) of 14 male volunteers. As heart rate is modulated by the autonomic nervous system, study of HRV can be used for assessing the neurological effect. The parameters used in this study for quantifying the effect on HRV are scaling exponent and sample entropy. The result indicates an increase in both the parameters when MP is kept close to the chest and a decrease when kept close to the head. MP has caused changes in HRV indices and the change varied with its position, but the changes cannot be considered significant as the p values are high.  相似文献

目的:了解大学生手机依赖的现状及其与冲动行为、拖延行为的相关性。方法:采用整群随机抽样法,以手机依赖量表(MPAI)、冲动行为量表(BIS-11)中文版、拖延行为量表(GPS)为测量工具对南京9所高校部分学生进行调查。结果:手机依赖者占21.7%;手机依赖在年级和专业方面(F=2.929,2.390;P0.05)存在差异;手机依赖组冲动行为得分与拖延行为得分明显高于非手机依赖组(P0.001);大学生手机依赖与冲动行为、拖延行为存在正相关性(r=0.401,0.339;P0.01)。冲动行为和拖延行为能够有效预测大学生手机依赖,其预测量为17.6%。结论:手机依赖在大学生中较为普遍;冲动行为水平越高、拖延行为较明显的大学生更易产生手机依赖。  相似文献

目的:了解海南大学生手机成瘾现状及与人格的关系,探讨影响大学生手机成瘾的因素,为预防和控制大学生手机成瘾提供依据。方法:采用分层整群随机抽样的方法,使用自编的调查问卷基本信息表、手机成瘾量表和大五人格量表对海南在校大学生进行抽样调查。结果:(1)海南大学生手机成瘾率为40.5%;男生成瘾率43.9%,女生为38.2%,男生显著高于女生(χ~2=4.772,P0.05);医学专业成瘾率为46.2%,高于非医学专业的36.2%(χ~2=14.686,P0.05);大一、大二、大三、大四及以上手机成瘾率分别为38.2%、38.4%、44.3%、44.0%;(2)成瘾者与非成瘾者在外向性(F=7.320,P0.05)和开放性(F=11.034,P0.05)有统计学差异;手机成瘾与外向性、顺同性、严谨性、神经质相关显著(r=0.161,-0.188,0.237,0.231;P0.001)。结论:海南大学生手机成瘾率较高,性别、专业对手机成瘾有一定影响,大学生手机成瘾与人格存在相关性,其中神经质、严谨性和外向性对手机成瘾有一定的预测作用。  相似文献

Headache makes one of the most common side effects of frequently pesticide application. This is to be taken care of in rural areas. Headaches have been reported with the use of ivermectin, ivermectin-diethylcarbamazine, organophosphates, and also with the fungicide maneb and copper sulfate, carbofuran, hexonal, dioxin, methomyl and its salts, as well as rare cases of poisoning with the fungicide combination of propineb and cymoxanil. Headache often occurs after long term work with pesticides and/or in laboratories. There are numerous symptoms accompanying headache in pesticide poisoning the most common being elevated body temperature, lassitude, dizziness, irritability, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, diarrhea, myalgia, pains in the arms and legs, sleepiness, pains in joints, irritation of eyes/face/skin, sweating. Much less common are respiratory disturbances, tachycardia, tachypnea and other cardiac distur bances, fall of blood pressure, gastrointestinal discomforts, constipation, poor appetite, significant decrease in leukocyte count, anemia, albuminuria, azotemia, fasciculations, miosis, blurred vision, memory disturbances and other neurologic disturbances, postural tremor, signs of cerebral function damage, bradykinesia, etc.  相似文献

Currently, there is no information about the possibility of developing clinical symptoms after whiplash in double transverse foramen subjects. Our aim was to test whether subjects with double transverse foramen have an increased risk of presenting with an acute headache, dizziness, vertebral artery dissection, and vomiting after whiplash.We recorded the absence/presence of double transverse foramen, and the absence/presence of neck pain, acute headache, dizziness, vertebral artery dissection, and vomiting in 85 patients who had suffered whiplash injuries in car rear‐end impacts in road traffic accidents. We used the odds ratio test to determine whether double transverse foramen subjects are at a higher risk of developing an acute headache, dizziness, and vomiting than non‐double transverse foramen subjects.Although double transverse foramen subjects presented with more clinical symptoms after whiplash, the odds ratio test revealed that their risks of developing acute headache (P = 0.30), dizziness (P = 0.09), or vomiting (P = 0.18) were not significantly greater than in the control group.Double transverse foramen subjects are not at a higher risk of presenting acute headache, dizziness, vertebral artery dissection, and vomiting after whiplash. 目的:调查大学生手机依赖和价值观现状,分析手机依赖这个影响因素对大学生价值观的具体影响。方法:本研究运用心理学量表对469名大学生手机依赖、价值观现状及两者关系进行测量和分析。结果:大学生手机依赖检出率为17.1%,手机依赖组和非手机依赖组大学生在平等(t=3.23,P0.01)、尊重父母长辈(t=2.77,P0.01)等价值观上存在明显差异;手机依赖程度与大学生的社会的公正(r=-0.234,P0.01)、清洁(r=-0.241,P0.01)等价值观得分呈负相关关系。结论:手机依赖对大学生部分价值观有显著影响,且随着手机依赖程度加深,部分价值观也产生相应变化。  相似文献

Although some people can voluntarily move their ears, overt reflexive control of the pinnae has been lost during the course of primate evolution. Humans and apes do not move their ears to express emotion, they do not defensively retract them when startled, and they do not point them at novel, salient, or task‐relevant stimuli. Nevertheless, it is the thesis of this review that neural circuits for pinna orienting have survived in a purely vestigial state for over 25 million years. There are three lines of evidence: (1) Shifting the eyes hard to one side is accompanied by electromyographic (EMG) activity in certain ear muscles and by a barely visible (2–3 mm) curling of the dorsal edge of the pinna. (2) The capture of attention by a novel, unexpected sound emanating from behind and to one side has been found to trigger a weak EMG response in the muscle behind the corresponding ear. (3) Reflexive EMG bursts recorded during a selective attention task suggested that subjects were unconsciously attempting to orient their ears toward the relevant sounds. In addition to pinna orienting, the possibility that pinna startle might have survived in a vestigial state is also considered. It is suggested that the postauricular reflex to sudden, intense sounds constitutes a vestigial startle response, but that the reflex arc is dominated by a pathway that bypasses the main organizing center for startle.  相似文献

Introduction

Mobile phone conversation decreases the ability to concentrate and impairs the attention necessary to perform complex activities, such as driving a car. Does the ringing sound of a mobile phone affect the driver''s ability to perform complex sensory-motor activities? We compared a subject''s reaction time while performing a test either with a mobile phone ringing or without.

Material and methods

The examination was performed on a PC-based reaction time self-constructed system Reactor. The study group consisted of 42 healthy students. The protocol included instruction, control without phone and a proper session with subject''s mobile phone ringing. The terms of the study were standardised.

Results

There were significant differences (p < 0.001) in reaction time in control (597 ms), mobile (633 ms) and instruction session (673 ms). The differences in female subpopulation were also significant (p < 0.01). Women revealed the longest reaction time in instruction session (707 ms), were significantly quicker in mobile (657 ms, p < 0.01) and in control session (612 ms, p < 0.001). In men, the significant difference was recorded only between instruction (622 ms) and control session (573 ms, p < 0.01). The other differences were not significant (p > 0.08). Men proofed to complete significantly quicker than women in instruction (p < 0.01) and in mobile session (p < 0.05). Differences amongst the genders in control session was not significant (p > 0.05).

Conclusions

The results obtained proofed the ringing of a phone exerts a significant influence on complex reaction time and quality of performed task.  相似文献

Summary Denervation of sinocarotid zones causes a stable decrease in the saturation of the arterial blood by oxygen and a decrease of the volume of lung ventilation in cats and rabbits. Only short decrease of saturation was noted during denervation of the spleen and removal of the femoral nerves. This was due to the section of the nerves and irritation of the peritoneum. 目的探究大学生手机成瘾倾向与生活事件、社会支持的关系。方法通过引用手机成瘾倾向量表(MPATS)以及青少年生活事件量表和社会支持评定量表对四川地区多所高校随机抽取的391名拥有和使用手机的大学生进行了问卷调查。结果 1不同严重程度手机成瘾倾向的大学生在生活事件各个因子存在显著差异(t=4.762,3.755,2.412,2.079,3.461,5.565,4.519;P0.05);在社会支持各个因子上均不存在显著差异;2手机成瘾倾向与生活事件的各个因子呈显著正相关(r=0.292,0.259,0.165,0.141,0.195,0.334,0.288;P0.01),与社会支持各因素可能没有相关;3生活事件中的其他、人际关系、受惩罚、学习压力4个因子对大学生手机成瘾倾向有预测作用(t=5.134,2.428,-3.902,2.512;P0.05)。结论大学生手机成瘾倾向与生活事件有关,与社会支持关系较弱。  相似文献

To evaluate the role of bladder afferent fibers in the hypogastric nerves (HGN) in modulation of the micturition reflex induced by chemical bladder irritation, voiding behavior, continuous cystometry, and spinal c-fos expression following intravesical acetic acid instillation were investigated in rats with or without HGN transection. Voiding behavior and continuous cystometry were examined in unanesthetized conscious rats. Following chemical bladder irritation, a significant increase in urinary frequency associated with a marked decrease in the voided volume per micturition, was noted in control rats with the intact HGN, but not in HGN-transected rats. Continuous infusion of acetic acid in control rats elicited irritative bladder responses characterized by a marked decrease in the intercontraction interval and a marked increase in maximal vesical pressure, both of which were absent in capsaicin-desensitized rats. HGN transection prevented the decrease in the intercontraction interval but not an increase in maximal vesical pressure following chemical bladder irritation. Compared with saline infusion, acetic acid infusion caused a significant increase in c-fos expression at L(1) and L(6) of the spinal cord, and HGN transection significantly reduced c-fos expression in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord at L(1) but not at L(6). These results suggest that capsaicin-sensitive bladder afferent fibers in the HGN, which travel through the rostral lumbar spinal cord, have a role in urinary frequency caused by chemical bladder irritation.  相似文献
