Clinical Observation on Treatment of 2,062 Cases of Immune Infertility with Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine

To study the therapeutic effect of integrated traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine on female immune infertility. 3,496 women suffering from primary or secondary infertility had their ASAb, EMAb, AOAb and ACAb level tested, with the positive rate of 23.11%, 34.95%, 20.77% and 30.41% respectively. 2,062 positive cases were periodically treated with the Chinese drug Xiaokangwan （消抗丸） plus dexamethasone, vitamin E and vitamin C for 2 periods as a course of treatment. At the end of a treatment course, the rate for the antibodies to turn negative reached over 85% and the average pregnant rate reached 36.66%. The treatment of immune infertility with the integrated approach can reduce or eliminate the influence of antibodies in the serum of patients on various links of pregnancy, thus reaching the goal of curing infertility.

Fufang Cangzhu Tang for Treatment of Senile Obesity or Overweight Complicated with Impaired Glucose Tolerance——A Clinical Observation in 32 Cases

To observe the therapeutic effect of Fufang Cangzhu Tang （复方苍术汤 Composite Atractylodes Decoction） on senile obesity or overweight with impaired glucose tolerance （IGT）. Methods： 32 cases of senile obesity or overweight with IGT were treated with Composite Atractylodes Decoction, with another 30 cases treated with dimethyldiguanide as the controls. Changes of body weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist hip circumference ratio （WHR）, glucose tolerance, fast serum insulin and blood lipid before and after treatment were compared. Results： After treatment, the body weight, waist circumference, hip circumference and WHR, glucose tolerance, fast serum insulin and blood lipid in the Composite Atractylodes Decoction treatment group decreased significantly （P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）, with no significant difference as compared with the control group （P〉0.05）. Conclusion： Composite Atractylodes Decoction can obviously decrease the body weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, WHR, glucose tolerance, fast serum insulin and blood lipid in the senile patients with obesity or overweight with impaired glucose tolerance.     

An Observation on the Acupuncture Treatment of Ischemic Wind-Stroke with Different Lengths of Needle-retaining Time

Objective:To observe the effects of different lengths of needle-retaining time on the therapeutic results ofacupuncture treatment for ischemic wind-stroke. Methods:According to the severity of disease,251 casesof ischemic wind-stroke were randomly divided into 3 groups and treated by acupuncture,with theneedle-retaining time lasting 20,40,and 60 minutes respectively. Observation was mainly focused on thescores of nervous dysfunction and the clinical therapeutic results. Results:The comparison of the scores ofnervous dysfunction in the 3 groups before and after the treatment showed that under Wilcoxon'spair-match symbol rank test,except for horizontal gaze,other indexes all showed significant differences(P<0.01). In the between-group comparison before and after the treatment,there showed significant orvery significant differences in the indexes of myodynamia of the upper limb,myodynamia of hand and thetotal scores (P<0.05,P<0.01). In the between-group comparison by Mann-Whitney rank test of theindexes Of myodynamia of upper limb,myodynamia of hand and the total scores,the 20-rain. group andthe 60-min. group showed significant differences (P<0.05);and 40-min. group and 60-rain. group showedsignificant differences in myodynamia of upper limb (P<0.05). In comparison of the therapeutic effects ofthe 3 groups by Kruskal-wallis rank test,there showed very significant differences (P<0.01). In thebetween-group comparison by Mann-Whitney rank test,the 40-min.group and 60-min. group showedsignificant differences (P=0.013);while the 20-min. group and 60-min. group showed very significantdifferences (P=0.000). Conclusion:There is a time-effect relationship between the length ofneedle-retaining time and the therapeutic effects of acupuncture for ischemic wind-stroke.     

Clinical Observation Tongqiao Huoxue Tang and Buyang Huanwu Tang for Treatment of Vascular Dementia——A report of 36 Cases

Treatment of Ankylosing Spondylitis with Medicated Moxibustion plus Salicylazosulfapyridine and Methotrexate——A Report of 30 Cases

To evaluate the therapeutic effect of medicated moxibustion plus administratuon ot salicylazosulfapyridine （SASP） and methotrexate （MTX） for treatment of active ankylosing spondylitis （AS）. Method： Ninety cases of active AS were randomly assigned to Group A, B and C （N=30 in each group）, and treated respectively with SASP and MTX, acupuncture plus SASP and MTX, and composite sulfur （tablet） moxibustion plus SASP and MTX for 3 successive courses （2 months each course with an interval of 5 days）. Results： Improvement in sacroiliitis index, Schober test, occipital wall test, finger-ground distance, as well as the erythrocyte sedimentation rate （ESR） and the content of C-reactive protein （CRP） in ＂Group B and C was far superior to that of Group A （P〈0.01）. Conclusion： Combined use of western medicine with acupuncture or with medicated moxibustion produces a better therapeutic effect than western medicine given alone.

Treatment of Tension Headache with Chinese Herbs and Acupuncture ——A Report of 40 Cases

Tension headache is a most common type of headache, which falls into the category of Toutong （头痛 headache）, or Toufeng （头风 head-wind） in TCM. It is characterized by bilateral mild to moderate non-pulsatile headache, without accompanying nausea, vomiting or photophobia, and is not aggravated by physical activities. Authors have in recent years treated 40 cases of this condition with Chai Hu Shu Gan San （柴胡疏肝散 Bupleurum Powder for Dredging the Liver） plus acupuncture, and obtained a satisfactory therapeutic effect. Clinical Observation on Electroacupuncture Treatment of 30 Cases of Chronic Hepatitis B

Objective: To probe into the methods and therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on hepatitis B. Methods: 60 hospitalized cases of mild or moderate hepatitis B were randomly divided into a treatment group (30 cases) and a control group (30 cases). EA was applied at the points selected according to the differentiation of symptoms and signs. The treatment was given once daily for 30 minutes, and 2 weeks of treatments constituted a therapeutic course, with 2-3 courses on average in the treatment group. Conventional treatment for liver protection was given in the control group. Results: As compared with the control group, the duration of the treatment for recovery of the hepatic functions was significantly shorter, and the IL-8 level significantly lower in the treatment group. Conclusion: In treating hepatitis B, EA is effective in improving symptoms, recovering hepatic functions, and regulating immune functions to certain extent.

Acupuncture Treatment of Children Nocturnal Enuresis ——A Report of 56 Cases

To observe the effect of acupuncture in treating nocturnal enuresis in children Method： Shenmen （HT 7） and Weizhong （BL 40） are selected as the main points. Zhongji （CV 3） and Shenshu （BL 23） are added for warming and supplementing the lower origin, and Qihai （CV 6） and Taiyuan （LU 9） for supplementing the middle-jiao and reinforcing the qi, Taichong （LR 3） and Xingjian （LR 2） for clearing away the damp-heat. Shenmen （HT 7）, a point pertaining to the Heart Channel of Hand-Shaoyin and Weizhong （BL 40）, a point pertaining to the Bladder Channel of Foot-Taiyang are selected as the main points, with a good result.
