Rotational problems of the lower extremities

Rotational problems are common, often the source of great parental concern, but only occasionally is active treatment required. Cast correction of rigid metatarsus adductus in infancy and operative correction in middle to late childhood are occasionally appropriate for severe deformity.

Phlebosclerosing treatment of telangiectasias of lower extremities

Our experiences include 124 patients (women) aged 25-50 years. Microsclerotherapy was used with 0.5% solution of etoxisclerole and 0.2% solution of fibrovein. The compressive microsclerotherapy proved to be an effective and harmless method of treatment of telangiectasias giving good cosmetic results and arresting clinical symptoms thus improving quality of life.

Complications and unsatisfactory results in the microsurgical reconstruction of lower extremities were reviewed in a chronological sequence. Perioperative complications were grouped into the following categories: improper patient or donor tissue selection, unsatisfactory choice of recipient site vessels, inadequate exposure of recipient site vessels, improper ?insetting”? of the free tissue transfer, extralumenal obstruction, and miscellaneous adverse factors. Vascular changes in the limb as a result of free tissue transfer are discussed. Discussion of late postoperative problems includes the long-term results of soft tissue and skeletal reconstruction. © 1993 Wiley-Liss Inc.
