Intermittent Venting of the Left Ventricle

A technique is described for intermittent decompression of the left ventricle. This method provides all of the advantages of left ventricular venting while eliminating the hazards. The technique is most advantageous in coronary artery operations.     

Diagnostic Transaortic Cardioscopy of the Left Ventricle

Preoperative diagnosis of pathologic intracardiac structures by noninvasive techniques is sometimes difficult or even impossible. In these cases a heart operation is required with opening of one or more cardiac chambers. We demonstrate direct visualization of the left ventricular cavity by transaortic cardioscopy in a patient with a pathologic intraventricular structure. With this technique we could avoid ventriculotomy.     

Intraventricular Repair of Double-Outlet Left Ventricle

A 3 ½-year-old child with double-outlet left ventricle and subaortic ventricular septal defect underwent successful surgical intervention with an intraventricular repair and a boomerang-shaped piece of Dacron patch. While an intraventricular repair for double-outlet left ventricle has been reported, we discuss here its application to this particular type of double-outlet left ventricle.     

Coronary Cameral Fistula: Left Anterior Descending Artery to Left Ventricle

Abstract Coronary cameral fistulas are unusual congenital or acquired anomalous communications between an epicardial coronary artery and a cardiac chamber. We present such an unusual entity here of a coronary cameral fistula between the left anterior descending artery and the left ventricle that was repaired surgically. Coronary cameral fistula is a rare but surgically curable congenital heart defect . (J Card Surg 2010;25:343‐345)     

Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor Arising from the Left Ventricle

Abstract We report a case of a 32-year-old female who underwent complete excision of a malignant left ventricular peripheral nerve sheath tumor. Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors in the mediastinum, including the pericardium, are rare. This case report describes a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor arising from the left ventricular origin for which complete excision was possible. (J Card Surg 2012;27:567-570).     

Hemostasis of Intractable Bleeding from Aorta and Left Ventricle

Intractable bleeding from the suture line on high-pressure system can be controlled by a pericardial or a Dacron patch covering the bleeding site with continuous suture.
