Onychomycosis or fungal nail infection is one of the most common fungal infections. Nearly 50% of all nail disorders are caused by fungi. This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to determine the prevalence of onychomycosis across Iran. We searched English and Persian databases for studies reporting the epidemiologic features of onychomycosis in Iranian people from January 2000 to December 2018. Literature search revealed 307 studies, of which 24 studies met the eligibility criteria. In order to identifying the existence of publication bias among studies, funnel plots were used. The results of the meta-analysis were visualized as a forest plot representing the prevalence estimates of each study. Heterogeneity was also analyzed using the I2, Chi2, and Tau2 statistics. A high level of I2 and Chi2 was obtained among studies, which provides evidence of notable heterogeneity between studies. The results of current study revealed that the highest prevalence of onychomycosis was related to Mazandaran and Tehran provinces, respectively. As in the literature hypothesized shift in etiologic agents from yeasts to dermatophytes or molds could not be confirmed. Females were affected more frequently than males and in both sexes the highest incidence of infection occurrence was at the ages of > 50 years. It seems the highest prevalence of onychomycosis in Mazandaran and Tehran provinces is due to the concentration of specialist doctors and research centers in these two provinces compared with others which leads to more detection and more care of the disease. Therefore, further educational strategies in order to accurate diagnosis in other provinces is necessary to reduce the risk of onychomycosis in Iran.  相似文献

BackgroundIncreasing evidence shows microRNA-451 plays a crucial role in various tumors, but there is inconsistency. The aim of this study was to explore the prognostic role of miR-451 in various tumors.MethodsOnline PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and the Cochrane library database were searched through February 2019. Hazard ratios (HRs) were extracted and used to describe the association between expression of microRNA-451 and survival outcome, and the correlation between microRNA-451 and clinicopathologic features were described by pooled odds ratios (ORs).ResultsSixteen retrospective studies containing 2122 patients were incorporated in this meta-analysis. High expression of miR-451 was considered statistically associated with prolonged overall survival (OS) (HR = 0.62, 95% CI 0.49-0.80, p < 0.001) as well as RFS/DFS (HR = 0.55, 95% CI 0.42-0.71, p < 0.001) compared with low expression of miR-451. Besides, the pooled ORs revealed significant association between high expression of miR-451 with lymph node invasion (yes vs. no) (OR = 0.64, 95% CI 0.46-0.90, P = 0.01), tumor diameter (big vs. small) (OR = 0.77, 95% CI 0.60-0.97, P = 0.028) and tumor stage (III + IV vs. I + II) (OR = 0.62, 95% CI 0.42-0.93, P = 0.019).ConclusionMicroRNA-451 may serve as a promising clinical prognostic biomarker in various carcinomas.  相似文献

Neoscytalidium dimidiatum is a rare dematiaceous fungus that was first described in 1916 as Dothiorella mangiferae. From the standpoint of epidemiology and therapy, early detection of fungal rhinosinusitis (FRS), the causative agents, and their associated risk factors can improve the therapeutic outcome and decrease the mortality rates among patients. In this study, we report a 34-year-old Iranian female patient with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), who presented to our facility with an 8-year history of chronic fungal sinusitis, drug-resistant asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, post-nasal discharge, nasal obstruction, nasal polyposis, and anemia. The patient was subjected to diagnostic nasal endoscopy and computed tomography (CT) scan of paranasal sinuses, as well as routine, complementary mycological, and molecular methods, which confirmed the diagnosis of allergic fungal rhinosinusitis in patients with ABPA. Neoscytalidium dimidiatum was isolated from the sinus of the patient. Results of in vitro susceptibility tests indicated that the case isolate was susceptible to amphotericin B and itraconazole at concentrations which are commonly achieved in patients receiving recommended dosages for invasive mycoses (0.25 to 0.75 mg/kg of body weight daily for amphotericin B and 100 to 400 mg daily for itraconazole) and resistant in vitro to caspofungin, voriconazole, and posaconazole. The patient was successfully treated with amphotericin B / itraconazole + postoperative oral corticosteroids (OCS). Neoscytalidium dimidiatum infection should be considered as a possible additional factor in the etiology of AFRS, especially in immunocompromised patients.  相似文献

BackgroundSeveral studies have indicated that lncRNA loc285194 is aberrantly expressed in many types of cancer. This meta-analysis was performed to elucidate the potential role of lncRNA loc285194 as a prognostic marker in malignant tumors.MethodsAn electronic search of PubMed, Medline, Embase, and Web of Science was performed to identify all eligible papers related to the prognostic impact of lncRNA loc285194 expression in cancer. Hazard ratios (HR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were extracted from the included studies to explore the association between lncRNA loc285194 expression and patient overall and disease-free survival (OS & DFS). The odds ratios (ORs) were also calculated to assess the association between lncRNA loc285194 expression and clinicopathological parameters.ResultsA total of 14 eligible articles with 1215 patients were included in this meta-analysis. Meta-results revealed that low expression of lncRNA loc285194 was significantly correlated with poorer overall survival (OS; HR = 2.34; 95% CI, 1.78–3.06; P < 0.001) and disease-free survival (DFS; HR = 2.66; 95% CI, 1.95–3.64; P = 0.001) rates in cancer patients. Low lncRNA loc285194 expression was also found to be significantly associated with lymph node metastasis (LNM; OR = 2.17; 95% CI, 1.23–3.83; P = 0.007), and distant metastasis (DM; OR = 2.49; 95% CI, 1.26–4.91; P = 0.009).ConclusionsThis study demonstrated that decreased level of lncRNA loc285194 was associated with poor clinical outcomes for patients with different types of cancer, supporting a promising potential biomarker for prognosis and metastasis in human cancers.  相似文献

Galectin-3 has an important function in the development of tumors. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to explore the relationships between the expression of galectin-3 on clinicopathological features and prognosis of colorectal cancer (CRC). A comprehensive literature search was used to identify eligible studies, and Stata software was conducted using in this meta-analysis. A total of 15 studies, including 1661 cases, were matched in the inclusion criteria. The pooled analysis indicated that galectin-3 expression was related to the poor overall survival (OS) in CRC patients (HR: 1.77, 95% CI: 1.36–2.31, P < 0.0001). Our meta-analysis also showed that cancerous tissues have higher levels of galectin-3 expression than normal tissues. Besides, positive galectin-3 expression was also related to advanced TNM stages(III/IV vs. I/II: OR 5.30, 95% CI: 2.42–11.61, P < 0.0001), higher Duke’s stages (C/D vs. A/B: OR 4.00, 95% CI: 2.22–7.22, P < 0.0001), venous invasion (venous invasion vs. not: OR 3.02, 95%CI: 1.75–5.22, P < 0.0001) and higher CEA level (CEA≥5 ng/ml vs. ≤ 5 ng/ml: OR 2.09, 95% CI: 1.09–4.03, P = 0.03). In summary, our results indicated that overexpression of galectin-3 is significantly related to the tumor progression and could be a efficient in predicting the prognosis of patients with CRC.  相似文献

BackgroundForkhead box protein P1 (FOXP1) has been suggested as a prognostic marker in several malignant tumors. However, the significance of FOXP1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is still unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression pattern of FOXP1 in normal esophageal tissue and ESCC and to analyze the clinicopathological significance and prognostic value of FOXP1 in ESCC.MethodsFOXP1 was detected by immunohistochemistry using tissue microarrays containing tumor tissues and adjacent normal tissues from 270 ESCC patients with oncological follow-up data.ResultsNormal esophageal tissues predominantly showed an exclusive nuclear FOXP1 (n-FOXP1) expression pattern, and no exclusive cytoplasmic FOXP1 (c-FOXP1) staining was found. In ESCC, the expression rates of exclusive n-FOXP1-positive, exclusive c-FOXP1-positive, both nuclear and cytoplasmic positive and complete negative were 14.4%, 28.9%, 10.4% and 46.3%, respectively. High n-FOXP1 expression was significantly correlated with decreased postoperative recurrence and distant metastasis (P < 0.05). Furthermore, elevated c-FOXP1 expression was significantly associated with regional lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis (P < 0.05). High c-FOXP1 expression had an effect on shorter overall survival (OS) time, but the difference was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Kaplan–Meier analysis showed that ESCC patients with high n-FOXP1 expression survived significantly longer than patients with low n-FOXP1 expression. Multivariate analysis confirmed that patients with high n-FOXP1 staining exhibit good prognosis and n-FOXP1 was an independent factor for ESCC prognosis.ConclusionsOur results suggest that FOXP1 plays an essential role in ESCC progression and prognosis and may be a useful biomarker for predicting survival.  相似文献

BackgroundAlthough increasing evidence has revealed that FOXD2-AS1 overexpression exists in various solid tumors, the value of FOXD2-AS1 as a prognostic marker in such cancers remains uncertain. Accordingly, the present research aimed to assess the association of FOXD2-AS1 with cancer prognosis and predict the biological function of FOXD2-AS1.MethodsWe systematically retrieved PubMed, PMC, Web of Science, EMBASE and Wiley Online Library databases for eligible articles published up to December 2018. Pooled hazard ratios (HRs) and odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were calculated to evaluate the correlation of FOXD2-AS1 expression with overall survival (OS), disease free survival (DFS) and clinicopathological characteristics. We also used five Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets from breast cancer patients to explore the relationship between FOXD2-AS1 expression and prognosis. Finally, we validated FOXD2-AS1 expression in various carcinomas and predicted its biological function based on the public databases.ResultsA total of 13 studies with 2502 tumor patients were included. The pooled HRs demonstrated that FOXD2-AS1 overexpression was significantly associated with unfavorable OS (HR = 1.39, 95%CI: 1.23–1.57, p < 0.001) and DFS (HR = 2.24, 95%CI: 1.55–3.23, p < 0.001) in tumor patients. The pooled ORs indicated that FOXD2-AS1 upregulation was related to large tumor size (OR = 1.53, 95%CI: 1.26–1.85, p < 0.001), deep invasion depth (OR = 1.99, 95%CI: 1.53–2.58, p < 0.001), distant metastasis (OR = 2.03, 95%CI: 1.69–2.43, p < 0.001) and advanced TNM stage (OR = 1.35, 95%CI: 1.06–1.72, p = 0.0150), but not to lymph node metastasis nor differentiation. Moreover, a similar pooled result for the OS of breast cancer patients was obtained (HR = 1.55, 95%CI: 1.14–2.11, p = 0.0052) by analyzing GEO data. Finally, elevated FOXD2-AS1 expression in various solid tumor tissues was verified based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data. Further functional prediction demonstrated that FOXD2-AS1 may participate in some cancer-related pathways.ConclusionElevated FOXD2-AS1 expression was associated with poor survival in patients with solid tumors and may serve as a potential prognostic biomarker for a variety of cancers.  相似文献

Mucormycosis is a devastating infection caused by Mucoralean fungi (Mucormycotina, Mucorales). Data concerning the global epidemiology of mucormycosis are scarce and little is known about the characteristics of mucormycosis in Iran. In this study, we aimed to understand the distribution of this infection in Iran retrospectively and to ascertain whether the patterns of infection are associated with specific host factors or not. A total of 208 cases were included in this study occurring during 2008–2014 and were validated according to (EORTC/MSG) criteria. A rising trend as significant increase from 9.7% in 2008 to 23.7% in 2014 was observed. The majority of patients were female (51.4%) with median age of 50 and the infections were seen mostly in autumn season (39.4%). Diabetes mellitus (75.4%) was the most common underlying condition and sinus involvement (86%) was the mostly affected site of infection. Amphotericin B (AmB) was the drug of choice for the majority of cases. Sixty four isolates did not show any growth in the lab and only 21 cases were evaluated by ITS sequencing, among them; Rhizopus arrhizus var. arrhizus was the dominant species. Considering the high mortality rate of mucormycosis, early and accurate diagnosis, with the aid of molecular methods may provide accurate treatments and improve the survival rate. Therefore, increased monitoring and awareness of this life-threatening disease is critical.  相似文献

ObjectiveCandida parapsilosis is one of the main emerging non-Candida albicans species leading to superficial and systemic fungal infections in humans. Candida has the ability to produce biofilms associated with pathogenesis. The aim of the study was to estimate biofilm-producing ability of clinical isolates of C. parapsilosis sp. complex.MethodsClinical samples of C. parapsilosis complex have been analyzed. Crystal violet (CV) staining and tetrazolium reduction assay (MTT) have been used to analyze the clinical isolates ability to produce biofilms. The biofilm's structural characteristics have been assessed by using scanning electron microscopy.ResultsAll 65 isolates were able to form biofilm. In addition, no significant difference was found between biofilm quantification based on two assays at different time intervals (24 h, 48 h, 72 h, 96 h) (P > 0.05), with the exception of Candida orthopsilosis, which exhibited higher metabolic activity at 24 h time point (P < 0.05). Moreover, metabolic activity and production of biofilm biomass demonstrated statistically significant correlation (r = 0.685, P < 0.01). According to microscopic observations, the investigated clinical strains formed the similar surface topography with the slight differences in morphology; in addition, there was no statistically significant difference between efficiency of two assays to quantify biofilm.ConclusionIt was shown that, similar to C. parapsilosis sensu stricto, two cryptic identified species (C. orthopsilosis and Candida metapsilosis) obtained from different clinical samples, were biofilm producers, while C. parapsilosis sensu stricto exhibited the highest biofilm production.  相似文献

AimArginase-1 (Arg-1) metabolizes l-arginine to l-ornithine and urea. It has been documented to have a role in various malignancies. However, the relationship between Arg-1 expression and clinicopathological characteristics of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients remains to be elucidated. The present study aimed to analyze the expression and prognostic value of Arg-1 in patients with CRC.Material and methodsThe mRNA and protein expressions of Arg-1 in fresh colorectal cancer tissue specimens and the corresponding noncancerous tissue specimens were examined by RT-qPCR (n = 24) and western blot analysis (n = 17). Arg-1 expression levels were determined in paraffin-embedded CRC tissue specimens (n = 236) by immunohistochemistry. The associations of Arg-1 expression and clinicopathological features and clinical prognosis in 236 CRC patients were analyzed.ResultsThe expression levels of Arg-1 were significantly higher in the CRC tissues compared with the matched noncancerous tissues, and elevated Arg-1 expression was remarkably associated with stage III-IV tumors (P = 0.007), lymph node metastasis (P = 0.019) and a plasma albumin concentration <35 g/l (P = 0.022). Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated that Arg-1 overexpression was associated with adverse prognoses for overall survival (OS) (P < 0.001) and disease-free survival (DFS) (P < 0.001) in all cases. Further analysis revealed that the patients with high Arg-1 expression had significantly shorter OS and DFS at the advanced stages (III + IV) (P = 0.032 for OS, and P = 0.012 for DFS) but not at the early stages (I + II) (P = 0.194 for OS, and P = 0.065 for DFS). Multivariate analysis revealed that Arg-1 overexpression was an independent prognostic factor for OS (P = 0.002) and DFS (P < 0.001) in patients with CRC.ConclusionThe data indicated that Arg-1 overexpression in CRC may be a marker that can discriminate subgroups of patients with a poor prognosis.  相似文献

PurposeTo present long-term clinical and radiological results of patients treated with delayed reconstruction of multiligament knee injuries.MethodsClinical data from 26 patients (21 men, five women, mean age 27.44 years) were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were evaluated at final follow-up with the use of: The International Knee Documentation Committee score (IKDC), Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), Tegner Activity level, Lysholm Knee Scoring Scale, EuroQol subjective knee evaluation form, and KT-2000 arthrometer. Mean follow-up time was 105.38 months. Both knees were radiographically evaluated for osteoarthritis according to the Kellgren–Lawrence classification.ResultsNo patient required mobilization under anesthesia for adhesion lysis at the immediate or later postoperative duration. There was no statistically significant difference in range of motion between the healthy and operated sides (P = 0.713). Mean time to final range of motion regain was 2.1 ± 0.4 months. Average KT-2000 side-to-side (operated vs. normal) difference was 2.03 ± 1.1 mm, and the difference was statistically significant (P = 0.007). The mean IKDC, KOOS, Lysholm, Tegner, and Euroqol-5D postoperative scores were 82.13 ± 17.5, 84.59 ± 16.8, 90.6 ± 6.4, 4.3 ± 1.3, and 80 ± 11.74, respectively. Multiple regression analysis showed that age and follow-up time had significant effects on each clinical score, except for the Lysholm and Tegner scores. Progression of osteoarthritic changes of the reconstructed knee and its contralateral side was significantly different (P = 0.003).ConclusionExcellent clinical results were reported from this center's long-term experience with delayed ligament reconstruction, and osteoarthritic changes of reconstructed knees were recorded.  相似文献

P2X7 receptor (P2X7R), a distinct ligand-gated ion channel, is a member of purinergic type 2 receptor family with ubiquitous expression in human body. Previous studies have revealed a pivotal role of P2X7R in innate and adaptive immunity. Once activated, it will meditate some vital cascaded responses including the assembly of nucleotide-binding domain (NOD) like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, non-classical secretion of IL-1β, modulation of cytokine-independent pathways in inflammation such as P2X7R- transglutaminase-2 (TG2) and P2X7R-cathepsin pathway, activation and regulation of T cells, etc. In fact, above responses have been identified to be involved in the development of autoimmunity, specifically, the NLRP3 inflammasome could promote inflammation in massive autoimmune diseases and TG2, as well as cathepsin may contribute to joint destruction and degeneration in inflammatory arthritis. Recently, numerous evidences further suggested the significance of P2X7R in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), multiple sclerosis (MS), etc. In this review, we will succinctly discuss the biological characteristics and summarize the recent progress of the involvement of P2X7R in the development and pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, as well as its clinical implications and therapeutic potential.  相似文献

BackgroundC-MYC appears to initiate and maintain tumorigenesis through modulation of immune regulatory molecules such as PD-L1. The aim of our research was to evaluate the clinical implication of C-MYC expression in gastric adenocarcinoma in relation to the expression of the immune regulatory molecules PD-L1 and FOXP3.MethodsTissue samples were acquired from 182 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma that were surgically resected at Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong from 2006 to 2012. Immunohistochemical staining for C-MYC, PD-L1, CD8 and FOXP3 was done.ResultsC-MYC overexpression showed a significant correlation with smaller tumor size, lower T category, lower N category, lower recurrence rate, and less lymphatic invasion. And C-MYC overexpression was negatively correlated with PD-L1 expression. The tumoral FOXP3 was positively correlated with C-MYC overexpression and Tregs count. PD-L1 expression was positively correlated with Tregs, CD8 + T cells, and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL). Tregs count was positively correlated with CD8 + T cells and TIL. CD8 + T cells was positively correlated with TIL.ConclusionWe discovered that the immune regulatory effect of C-MYC and PD-L1, and the tumor suppressor function of tumoral FOXP3 had a significant influence on the tumor microenvironment (Tregs, CD8 + T cells, and tumor infiltrating lymphocytes) in a complex manner. The C-MYC overexpression is a good prognostic factor in gastric adenocarcinoma.  相似文献

The prognostic significance and clinical implications of resident CD103+CD8+T cells in human colorectal cancer tissues still remains largely unexplored. In our present study, we aimed to characterize the resident CD8+T cells in human colorectal cancer tissues by using double staining of CD103 and CD8, and further evaluated the prognostic significance of resident CD8+T cells in colorectal cancer. We found that the OS rate of the colorectal cancer patients with higher infiltration of CD8+T cells, or with higher numbers of resident CD103+CD8+T cells, or with higher ratio of CD103+CD8+T cells over total CD8+T cells in cancer tissues was significantly better than that of the patients with lower infiltration of CD8+T cells, or with lower numbers of resident CD103+CD8+T cells, or with higher ratio of CD103+CD8+T cells over total CD8+T cells in cancer tissues, respectively. Moreover, higher infiltration of CD8+T cells in colorectal cancer tissues was significantly and inversely correlated with advanced TNM stage. Higher numbers of resident CD103+CD8+T cells in colorectal cancer tissues were significantly and inversely correlated with distant metastasis status. Higher ratio of CD103+CD8+T cells over total CD8+T cells in colorectal cancer tissues was significantly and inversely correlated with age status. The COX model analysis demonstrated that higher infiltration of CD8+T cells, higher numbers of resident CD103+CD8+T cells, or higher ratio of CD103+CD8+T cells over total CD8+T cells in colorectal cancer tissues, could serve as independent prognostic predictors for colorectal cancer patients. Taken together, our present study demonstrated the density of tumor infiltrating CD8+T cells or the numbers of resident CD103+CD8+T cells in colorectal tissues could be used as an important prognostic predictor for this malignancy.  相似文献

ObjectiveLung adenocarcinoma in young patients is a rare entity, and the targetable genomic alterations (GAs) are poorly studied. In other cancers, it has been demonstrated that young age defines unique disease biology. Here, the association of young age with GAs and prognosis is studied in a large cohort of Chinese patients.MethodsWe retrospectively screened 1000 consecutive patients, and identified 181 patients aged 40 years or younger. GAs were identified by next-generation sequencing (NGS) assay. The clinical and genetic characteristics were analyzed.ResultsAmong younger group, 167(92.3%) patients were diagnosed withadvanced-stage adenocarcinoma, 98(54.1%) were female, 27(14.9%) were smokers, and the median age was 35 years. Targetable GAs which were significantly more common in the younger population (P < 0.001), were associated with young age (P < 0.05). The frequency of ALK translocations, EGFR and KRAS mutations was 37.6%, 34.3% and 6.1%, respectively. Younger patients had a higher prevalence of rare GAs including HER2, ROS1 and MET (P < 0.05). Prognosis for younger patients was similar (median OS of patients with GAs, 23.91 vs 23.67 months, P > 0.05) or better than that for older population (median OS of patients without GAs, 44.28 vs 41.88 months, P < 0.05) according to GAs. Therapy modality was an independent prognostic factor (P < 0.05), and 83% of death rate decreased if given preferred therapy.ConclusionYounger patients with lung adenocarcinoma had unique prevalence of targetable GAs. Comprehensive genotyping including NGS is recommended for personalized therapy and prognosis evaluation in this population.  相似文献

Gastric cancer (GC) is the third leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide, with an overall 5-y survival rate of 25%. The majority of GCs are caused by infectious agents, including the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and Epstein–Barr virus (EBV). Furthermore, inappropriate repair of DNA damage can also result in genomic instability, which has shown to be a key factor in carcinogenesis of different regions including gastric region. Present study was designed to explore the association between base excision repair pathway genes, PARP1 and APEX1 and gastric pathology and H. pylori infection. Two hundred gastric cancer tissue samples (114 H. pylori positive and 86 H. pylori negative) and adjacent uninvolved area taken as controls was used for expression analysis of BER pathway genes at mRNA level and protein levels using quantitative PCR (qPCR) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) respectively. Oxidative stress and DNA damage was also determined by measuring the level of antioxidant enzymes and comet assay respectively. Significant upregulation in PARP1 (p < 0.001) and APEX1 (p < 0.02) was observed in GC tissue samples compared to controls and this upregulation was more pronounced in H. pylori positive cases (HPGC) (PARP1, p < 0.02: APEX1, p < 0.04) than H. pylori negative cases (HNGC). Upregulation of BER pathway genes in HPGC was found correlated with smoking status (p < 0.0001), T stage (p < 0.01) and lymph node metastasis (p < 0.03). Moreover, immunohistochemical staining of BER pathway genes was found correlated with a number of clinicopathological characteristics such as tumor type (p < 0.03), tumor size (p < 0.01) and lymph node metastasis (p < 0.01). Expression levels of APEX1 and PARP1 gene also correlated with increased oxidative burden (p < 0.0001) and DNA damage (p < 0.001) in GC patients. Survival analysis showed that upregulation of PARP1 gene was associated with poor overall survival outcome of gastric cancer patients (HR = 2.04 (95% CI = 1.10–3.76; p < 0.02). Univariate and multivariate cox regression analysis showed the upregulated PARP1 gene (HR = 5.03; 95%CI (2.22–11.35); p = 0.0001), positive smoking status (HR = 3.58; 95%CI (1.67–7.65); p = 0.001), positive status for H pylori infection (HR = 4.38; 95%CI (1.82–10.56); p = 0.001) and advance N-stage (HR = 5.29; 95%CI (2.28–12.24); p = 0.0001) were independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer and may serve as a valuable biomarker for the diagnosis and progression of GC and can be helpful in developing individualized treatment strategies for treating GC.  相似文献

Daptomycin has become an important antibiotic for the treatment of serious Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections. Unlike other approved antibiotics, its mode of action is still under active investigation, as well as the molecular basis of daptomycin resistance, which emerges in some cases during daptomycin treatment. Small nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the Multiple Peptide Resistance Factor (MprF) appear to play a major role in the resistance mechanism. Until recently, the impact of the SNPs on MprF activity has remained unclear, which is due to conflicting reports on resistance-associated phenotypes and an incomplete understanding of the mode of action of MprF. However, recent structural insights into MprF and studies with isogenic mutants have now led to a new model of MprF-mediated daptomycin resistance, which harmonizes most of the observed phenotypes and provides a basis for challenging biochemical investigations.  相似文献
