An investigation into health informatics and related standards in China   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
OBJECTIVE: To describe the current status of and future plans for health informatics and related standards in China and analyze the problems raised in the process of standardization for health informatics. METHODS: Data were collected through investigation and interviews, complemented by a comprehensive review of relevant literatures and regulations/law documents about health informatics and related standards in China. RESULTS: Health informatics has been greatly developed in China. Significant resources were committed to construct and improve the health information system. Approximately 35-40% of hospitals have constructed hospital information system. Over 80% of medical organizations above the county/district level, 27% of town level hospitals and all CDC above the county/district level can transmit real-time epidemic situation reporting through public health information system. However, lack of standards became a bottleneck to utilize and improve health informatics. China has adopted some vocabulary, classification, coding standards and message standards. Moreover, several national standardization actions for health informatics have been taken. In the process of standardization, the main barriers consist of financial, technical, cultural and language problems, legal and ethical concerns and others. CONCLUSIONS: Informatics has the potential to play an important role in China's healthcare reform process and standards are the basis for the information sharing and interoperability. Governments and partners of health informatics have realized the importance of standards and taken the initiatives in trying to solve the problem of lacking standards, but much work still needs to be done.  相似文献

This paper analyses the curricula of the four Australian university programs for health information managers (HIMs) in relation to their coverage of health and medical informatics (HMI). The overlap between HIMs and HMIs should be increased through exchange of information at conferences such as this as well as communication and co-operation between the Schools of HIM and those offering health informatics related training at other Australian universities.  相似文献

In the light of an aging society, effective delivery of healthcare will be more dependent on different technological solutions supporting the decentralisation of healthcare, higher patient involvement and increased societal demands. The aim of this article is therefore, to describe the role of health informatics in the care of elderly people and to give an overview of the state of the art in this field. Based on a review of the existing scientific literature, 29 review articles from the last 15 years and 119 original articles from the last 5 years were selected and further analysed. Results show that review articles cover the fields of information technology in the home environment, integrated health information systems, public health systems, consumer health informatics and non-technology oriented topics such as nutrition, physical behaviour, medication and the aging process in general. Articles presenting original data can be divided into 5 major clusters: information systems and decision support, consumer health informatics, emerging technologies, home telehealth, and informatics methods. Results show that health informatics in elderly care is an expanding field of interest but we still do lack knowledge about the elderly person's needs of technology and how it should best be designed. Surprisingly, few studies cover gender differences related to technology use. Further cross-disciplinary research is needed that relates informatics and technology to different stages of the aging process and that evaluates the effects of technical solutions.  相似文献

Health and Medical informatics is a discipline encompassing and combining aspects of all health, medical and informatics disciplines. Consequently, the topics to be covered in any educational program can vary considerably both in depth and breadth. Given that such programs need to meet the needs of a very diverse health professional workforce, educators need to develop curricula to suit specific target groups although common topic areas need to be included. This paper presents the state of play regarding nursing informatics education. It discusses informatics education for health service managers primarily in Australia through the use of a case study and compares these with some other similar programs. It then explores some of the issues encountered which are seen as impediments to the progression of health and medical informatics education, the most significant of which is traditional University organisational structures which do not readily facilitate multidisciplinary educational programs.  相似文献

This paper describes a methodology to assess health/medical informatics graduate-level education curricula. The authors used the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems (CPHIMS) exam objectives published by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) as the basis for their assessment. The authors compared the 69 CPHIMS exam objectives against four health/medical informatics program course objectives as stated in the selected program's online graduate catalog. Results showed that the two programs with management as a focus addressed the majority (67 and 59%) of the CPHIMS objectives within core and elective courses combined. Overall, the other two programs addressed closer to a third of the CPHIMS objectives (36 and 32%). This methodology could prove to be useful in assisting students interested in graduate-level training programs with a tool by which to measure the congruence of the curricula of different programs with the mission of the programs and with their own professional interests.  相似文献

Based on the recommendations of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA, ) on education in health and medical informatics and on experiences in founding a new school, the University for Health Informatics and Technology Tyrol (UMIT, ), at Innsbruck, Austria, questions on education in health informatics, medical informatics, and biomedical informatics are discussed. Suggestions are made on (1). appropriate approaches for specialized educational programs in biomedical and health informatics at the university level, on (2). resources and infrastructures needed for running such programs at a high-quality level, and on (3). strategies to be considered for the future development of such educational programs. UMIT strives for an international top position in education and research. It entirely concentrates on areas in research and education in biomedicine and the health sciences. UMIT started in the academic year 2001/2002 with two educational programs. They lead to a B.Sc. degree (3 years) and a M.Sc. degree (1.5-2 years) in medical informatics. Professionalism, including ethics, has assumed greater importance in residency education, and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education now requires its incorporation into residency training. Insight into current ethics education, as well as those ethical issues important to pathology, would be efficacious. A mail survey was sent to all members of the Association of Pathology Chairs that asked for specific information related to pathology resident education in ethics and identification of important ethical issues in the current practice of pathology. A total of 148 surveys were mailed, and 53 (35.8%) were returned. Formal instruction in ethics is provided by approximately 62% of pathology residency training programs, and 94% provide informal ethics education. However, 84% of programs believed that ethical issues were underrecognized, and 38% believed that current ethics training was inadequate. Issues regarding the use of tissue for research, confidentiality and privacy, and professionalism were identified as the most important ethical issues currently encountered in pathology.  相似文献

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee on Quality of Health Care in America identified the critical role of information technology in designing safe and effective health care. In addition to technical aspects such as regional or national health information infrastructures, to achieve this goal, healthcare professionals must receive the requisite training during basic and advanced educational programs. In this article, we describe a two-pronged strategy to promote patient safety through an informatics-based approach to nursing education at the Columbia University School of Nursing: (1) use of a personal digital assistant (PDA) to document clinical encounters and to retrieve patient safety-related information at the point of care, and (2) enhancement of informatics competencies of students and faculty. These approaches may be useful to others wishing to promote patient safety through using informatics methods and technologies in healthcare curricula.  相似文献

Cognitive engineering is an applied field with roots in both cognitive science and engineering that has been used to support design of information displays, decision support, human-automation interaction, and training in numerous high risk domains ranging from nuclear power plant control to transportation and defense systems. Cognitive engineering provides a set of structured, analytic methods for data collection and analysis that intersect with and complement methods of Cognitive Informatics. These methods support discovery of aspects of the work that make performance challenging, as well as the knowledge, skills, and strategies that experts use to meet those challenges. Importantly, cognitive engineering methods provide novel representations that highlight the inherent complexities of the work domain and traceable links between the results of cognitive analyses and actionable design requirements. This article provides an overview of relevant cognitive engineering methods, and illustrates how they have been applied to the design of health information technology (HIT) systems. Additionally, although cognitive engineering methods have been applied in the design of user-centered informatics systems, methods drawn from informatics are not typically incorporated into a cognitive engineering analysis. This article presents a discussion regarding ways in which data-rich methods can inform cognitive engineering.  相似文献

The Canadian National Centres of Excellence Network, Health Evidence Application and Linkage Network (HEALNet) is a network linking universities, the private sector and other public sector organisations in supporting research and fostering commercial opportunities. Its aim is to develop high quality health care decision support methodologies and tools that support the transfer of research evidence into practice. The HEALNet education program aims to support the training of highly qualified personnel as well as the development of educational approaches so that health personnel can better exploit such methodologies and decision support tools given the new opportunities of information technology. There is a need to draw from the different types of expertise within HEALNet to provide an integrated curriculum. At the same time, there is a concern regarding the lack of a coherent infrastructure in health informatics in many Canadian medical schools.  相似文献

This paper discusses aspects of information technologies for health care, in particular on transinstitutional health information systems (HIS) and on health-enabling technologies, with some consequences for the aim of medical informatics. It is argued that with the extended range of health information systems and the perspective of having adequate transinstitutional HIS architectures, a substantial contribution can be made to better patient-centered care, with possibilities ranging from regional, national to even global care. It is also argued that in applying health-enabling technologies, using ubiquitous, pervasive computing environments and ambient intelligence approaches, we can expect that in addition care will become more specific and tailored for the individual, and that we can achieve better personalized care. In developing health care systems towards transinstitutional HIS and health-enabling technologies, the aim of medical informatics, to contribute to the progress of the sciences and to high-quality, efficient, and affordable health care that does justice to the individual and to society, may be extended to also contributing to self-determined and self-sufficient (autonomous) life. Reference is made and examples are given from the Yearbook of Medical Informatics of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and from the work of Professor Jochen Moehr.  相似文献

We report on a course for medical informatics students on hospital information systems, especially on its strategic information management. Starting as course at the Medical Informatics Program of the University of Heidelberg/University of Applied Sciences Heilbronn, it is now organized as international course in the framework of the International Partnership for Health Informatics Education (http:// www.iphie.org) jointly for medical information science students from the University of Amsterdam, medical informatics students, as well as health information management students from the Universities of Heidelberg/Heilbronn. In 2002, medical informatics students from the Master of Science program of the newly founded University for Health Informatics and Technology Tyrol (UMIT) at Innsbruck, Austria, joined. We report about the aim of this course, its audience, and the educational programs involved, about its content and structure, as well as about our experiences gained so far.  相似文献

Education is essentially giving people new skills and qualifications to fulfil certain tasks. In planning and managing educational programmes it is crucial to know what skills and what qualifications are needed to carry out the tasks in question, not to mention the importance of knowing what tasks are relevant to carry out. The programme in health informatics at Aalborg University produces health informatics professionals. The students are developing skills in solving informatics problems in health care organisations. The programme has been running for 3 years now and to maintain the perception of the aim for the programme a number of activities have been launched. In the following, the programme will be presented, the activities to obtain information on how to keep the programme targeted and updated will be described and the changes that are going to be introduced will be outlined.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Today, the need for health informatics training for health care professionals is acknowledged and educational opportunities for these professionals are increasing. To contribute to these efforts, a new initiative was undertaken by the Medical Informatics Program of the University of Amsterdam-Academic Medical Center and IPHIE (IPhiE)-the International Partnership for Health Informatics Education. In the year 2004, a summer school on health informatics was organized for advanced medical students from all over the world. METHODS: We elaborate on the goals and the program for this summer school. In developing the course, we followed the international guidelines of the International Medical Informatics Association-IMIA. Students provided feedback for the course through both summative and formative evaluations. As a result of these evaluations, we outline the lessons we have learned and what consequences these results have had in revising the course. RESULTS: Overall the results of both the summative and formative evaluation of the summer school showed that we succeeded in the goals we set at the beginning of the course. Students highly appreciated the course content and indicated that the course fulfilled their educational needs. The decision support and image processing computer practicums however proved too high level. We therefore will redesign these practicums to competence requirements of medical doctors as defined by IMIA. All participants recommended the summer school event to other students. CONCLUSIONS: Our experiences demonstrated a true need for health informatics education among medical students and that even a 2 weeks course can fulfill health informatics educational needs of these future physicians. Further establishment of health informatics courses for other health professions is recommended.  相似文献

PurposeTo conduct a systematic review to examine evidence of associations between clinical leadership and successful information technology (IT) adoption in healthcare organisations.MethodsWe searched Medline, Embase, Cinahl, and Business Source Premier for articles published between January 2000 to May 2013 with keywords and subject terms related to: (1) the setting – healthcare provider organisations; (2) the technology – health information technology; (3) the process – adoption; and (4) the intervention – leadership. We identified 3121 unique citations, of which 32 met our criteria and were included in the review. Data extracted from the included studies were assessed in light of two frameworks: Bassellier et al.’s IT competence framework; and Avgar et al.’s health IT adoption framework.ResultsThe results demonstrate important associations between the attributes of clinical leaders and IT adoption. Clinical leaders who have technical informatics skills and prior experience with IT project management are likely to develop a vision that comprises a long-term commitment to the use of IT. Leaders who possess such a vision believe in the value of IT, are motivated to adopt it, and can maintain confidence and stability through the adversities that IT adoptions often entail. This leads to proactive leadership behaviours and partnerships with IT professionals that are associated with successful organisational and clinical outcomes.ConclusionsThis review provides evidence that clinical leaders can positively contribute to successful IT adoption in healthcare organisations. Clinical leaders who aim for improvements in the processes and quality of care should cultivate the necessary IT competencies, establish mutual partnerships with IT professionals, and execute proactive IT behaviours to achieve successful IT adoption.  相似文献

The NIGHTINGALE Project (NIGHTINGALE Project: HC1109 DGXIII Contract and Technical Annex, European Commission, December 1995) which started on the 1st of January, 1996, after the approval of the European Commission, has a 36 month duration. It is essential in planning and implementing a strategy in training the nursing profession in using and applying healthcare information systems. NIGHTINGALE contributes towards the appropriate use of the developed telematics infrastructure across Europe by educating and training nurses in a harmonious way across Europe in the upcoming field of nursing informatics. NIGHTINGALE develops courseware material based on the curriculum development process using multimedia technologies. Computer based training software packages in nursing informatics will be the basis of the training material and the corresponding courses. CD-ROM based training and reference material will also be provided in the courses whereas the traditional booklets, teaching material and textbooks can also play an adequate role in training. NIGHTINGALE will disseminate all information and courseware material freely to all interested parties through the publications of the proceedings of the conferences, through the establishment of the world wide web (WWW) server in nursing informatics for Europe (http://www.dn.uoa.gr/nightingale), which will become a depository of nursing information knowledge across Europe as well as a dissemination node of nursing informatics throughout the European members states for the benefit and welfare of the European citizen.  相似文献
