In the present study, an ephemeral (E) and a semipermanent (SP) wetland were divided into halves using a polyvinyl curtain and one-half of each wetland was treated with dicamba (3,6-dichloro-o-anisic acid), bromoxynil (3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxy-benzonitrile), MCPA [(4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy)acetic acid], 2,4-D [(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid], mecoprop-P (R)-2-(4-chloro-o-tolyloxy)propionic acid], and dichlorprop [(RS)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)propionic acid] such that concentrations in the water simulated an overspraying event, thus representing a worst-case scenario for wetland contamination. Water and sediment samples were taken over the 77-d study period to monitor herbicide concentrations. The dissipation of all six herbicides could be described by first-order reaction kinetics. In water, the field half-life (DT50) values ranged from 2.3 d (bromoxynil) to 31 d (dichlorprop). All six herbicides were detected in sediment samples from both wetlands. Overall, the phenoxypropionic acids (mecoprop-P and dichlorprop) were more persistent than the phenoxyacetic acids (2,4-D and MCPA) in both sediment and water. Use of bromide ion as a conservative tracer indicated that infiltration through sediment was an important route of water loss in both wetlands, especially in wetland E. Because strong correlations were found between the mass of each herbicide and bromide ion mass in wetland SP (r(2) = 0.59-0.76) and wetland E (r(2) = 0.80-0.95), it is likely that herbicide dissipation was due, in part, to mass lost by way of infiltration through sediment.  相似文献

Constructed wetlands are built because they can act as sinks for many pollutants, thereby protecting the water quality of downstream ecosystems. The treatment performance is generally assessed using mass balance calculations. Along with the mass balance approach, we compared the metal content of populations of a common pond snail (Helisoma trivolvis Say) collected upstream and downstream of a 3-year-old constructed wetland. Snails were collected in early May, June, and August 1998. At the same time, water samples for particulate and dissolved metals were taken every 3 days for the duration of the experiment. Overall, the wetland retained most dissolved metals, including Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Ni, and Pb, but released dissolved As. However, the wetland released particulate Fe and Mn. With the exception of Zn, the metal concentrations of the downstream snails were on average higher than those measured in the upstream population. The higher metal content of downstream snails was likely related to the significant export of particulate metals by the wetland, despite the overall retention of dissolved metals. This study points to the need for biological as well as chemical monitoring to determine the treatment efficiency and toxicological risk associated with constructed wetlands. Two studies in California wetlands and a third in Minnesota wetlands indicate that management practices designed to enhance habitat quality for waterfowl can concurrently reduce mosquito problems. In a seasonally flooded pickleweed wetland in Suisun Marsh, Solano Co., CA, we demonstrated that reducing plant-cover by 50% increased benthic densities of chironomid midge and dytiscid beetle larvae; these insects can be important in waterfowl diets. This manipulation also concentrated Aedes melanimon and Culiseta inornata mosquito larvae along wetland perimeters; thus, the need for control measures was greatly restricted spatially. A study in 9 experimental ponds in Suisun Marsh demonstrated that higher water levels could enhance populations of the macroinvertebrates important in waterfowl diets; general macroinvertebrate densities were higher at 60 cm depths than 20 cm or 40 cm depths. In contrast, Cs. inornata densities were lowest at 60 cm depths and highest at 20 cm depths. A study conducted in a perennial-water cattail wetland in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN, demonstrated that a temporary water-level drawdown, designed to enhance waterfowl habitat quality of perennial-water wetlands, also reduced densities of Coquillettidia perturbans mosquito larvae. These mosquitoes disappeared immediately after the drawdown, but even after water depths were restored to pre-drawdown levels, significant numbers did not reappear until 4 years post-drawdown. Studies in 202 other Minnesota wetlands also demonstrated the susceptibility of Cq. perturbans populations to drawdown, but the impact of drawdown was greater in stands of emergent cattail than in floating cattail.  相似文献

Vitamin E and selenium deficiencies were produced in the Pekin duckling (Anser cinerens) and were characterized by the development of lesions after 14 d in gizzard, intestine, heart and skeletal muscle. The activities of glutathione peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.9), using hydrogen peroxide and cumene hydroperoxide as substrates, glutathione-S-transferase (EC 2.5.1.13), superoxide dismutase (EC 1.15.1.1) and catalase (EC 1.11.1.6) were measured in homogenate supernatant fractions of liver, heart, intestine, gizzard and skeletal muscle of deficient ducklings and of control birds given vitamin E or Se or both. Glutathione peroxidase activities were dramatically lower in tissues of Se-deficient ducklings, and this was unaffected by vitamin E. No adaptive changes were seen in the activity of the other enzymes, even after 21 d when the deficiency was severe. It appeared likely that the variability of the enzyme activities, other than glutathione peroxidase, in the different tissues studied might explain differences among the tissues in susceptibility to peroxidative damage.  相似文献

Reduced skeletal muscle mass in older populations is independently associated with functional impairment and disability, resulting in increased risk of mortality and various comorbidities. This study aimed to examine the association between major dietary pattern and low muscle mass among Korean middle-aged and elderly populations. A total of 8136 participants aged ≥50 years were included from a cross-sectional study based on the 2008–2011 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The following four distinct dietary patterns were derived using factor analysis: “Condiment, vegetables, and meats”; “wheat flour, bread, fruits, milk, and dairy products”; “white rice, fish, and seaweeds”; and “whole grain, bean products, and kimchi”. A higher “white rice, fish, and seaweeds” pattern score was associated with a lower prevalence of low muscle mass in both men and women, whereas a higher “condiment, vegetables, and meats” pattern score was associated with a higher prevalence of low muscle mass in men. A dietary pattern based on white rice, fish, and seaweeds can be helpful in protecting against loss of skeletal muscle mass in Korean middle-aged and elderly populations. Future research is paramount to confirm the causal association between dietary pattern and the risk of low muscle mass.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The consumption of monounsaturated trans fatty acids (TFAs) increases the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Putative differences between the effects of TFAs from industrially produced and natural sources on CVD risk markers were not previously investigated in healthy subjects. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to compare the effects of TFAs from industrially produced and natural sources on HDL and LDL cholesterol, lipoprotein particle size and distribution, apolipoproteins, and other lipids in healthy subjects. DESIGN: In a randomized, double-blind, controlled, crossover design, 46 healthy subjects (22 men and 24 women) consumed food items containing TFAs (11-12 g/d, representing approximately 5% of daily energy) from the 2 sources. RESULTS: Forty subjects (19 men and 21 women) completed the study. Compared with TFAs from industrially produced sources, TFAs from natural sources significantly (P = 0.012) increased HDL cholesterol in women but not in men. Significant (P = 0.001) increases in LDL-cholesterol concentrations were observed in women, but not in men, after the consumption of TFAs from natural sources. Apolipoprotein (apo)B and apoA1 concentrations confirmed the changes observed in LDL and HDL cholesterol. Analysis of lipoprotein subclass showed that only large HDL and LDL concentrations were modified by TFAs from natural sources but not by those from industrially produced sources. CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that TFAs from industrially produced and from natural sources have different effects on CVD risk factors in women. The HDL cholesterol-lowering property of TFAs seems to be specific to industrial sources. However, it is difficult in the present study to draw a conclusion about the effect of TFAs from either source on absolute CVD risk in these normolipidemic subjects. The mechanism underlying the observed sex- and isomer-specific effects warrants further investigation.  相似文献

Methyl-parathion (MeP) was introduced into constructed wetlands for the purpose of assessing the importance of distance from the source of contamination and the role of emergent vegetation on the acute toxicity to Hyalella azteca (Crustacea: Amphipoda). A vegetated (90% cover: mainly Juncus effuses) and a nonvegetated wetland (each with a water body of 50 × 5.5 × 0.2 m) were each exposed to a simulated MeP storm runoff event. H. azteca was exposed for 48 h in the laboratory to water samples taken from the wetlands at a distance of 5, 10, 20, and 40 m from the pesticide inlet 3 h, 24 h, 96 h, and 10 days following application. Methyl-parathion was detected throughout the nonvegetated wetland, whereas the pesticide was only transported halfway through the vegetated wetland. A repeated-measure three-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) using time, location, and vegetation indicated significantly lower toxicity in the vegetated wetland. Furthermore, the mortality decreased significantly with both increasing distance from the inlet and time (48-h LC50 ± 95% CI: 9.0 ± 0.3 g/L). A significant three-way interaction of time × vegetation × location confirmed higher toxicity at the inlet area of the nonvegetated wetland immediately after contamination. Significant linear regressions of maximum mortality (independent of time) versus distance from the pesticide inlet indicated that 44 m of vegetated and 111 m of nonvegetated wetland would reduce H. azteca mortality to 5%. These results suggest that vegetation contributes to reduced MeP effects in constructed wetlands.  相似文献

Two microcosm-scale wetlands (570-liter containers) were integratively designed and constructed to investigate transfers and transformations of zinc associated with an aqueous matrix, and to provide future design parameters for pilot-scale constructed wetlands. The fundamental design of these wetland microcosms was based on biogeochemical principles regulating fate and transformations of zinc (pH, redox, etc.). Each wetland consisted of a 45-cm hydrosoil depth inundated with 25 cm of water, and planted with Scirpus californicus. Zinc ( approximately 2 mg/liter) as ZnCl2 was amended to each wetland for 62 days. Individual wetland hydraulic retention times (HRT) were approximately 24 h. Total recoverable zinc was measured daily in microcosm inflow and outflows, and zinc concentrations in hydrosoil and S. californicus tissue were measured pre- and post-treatment. Ceriodaphnia dubia and Pimephales promelas7-day aqueous toxicity tests were performed on wetland inflows and outflows, and Hyalella azteca whole sediment toxicity tests (10-day) were performed pre- and post-treatment. Approximately 75% of total recoverable zinc was transferred from the water column. Toxicity decreased from inflow to outflow based on 7-day C. dubia tests, and survival of H. azteca in hydrosoil was >80%. Data illustrate the ability of integratively designed wetlands to transfer and sequester zinc from the water column while concomitantly decreasing associated toxicity.  相似文献

This research examined the influence of abiotic factors on contaminant assimilation within the water column of two wetlands (RMA3 and RMA4) located on Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Area, north of Denver, Colorado, USA. We define contaminant assimilation as the ability of a wetland system to reduce negative impacts of contaminants on aquatic organisms. To examine the influence of abiotic factors (i.e., alkalinity, suspended solids), chronic toxicity tests were performed from February 1992 through November 1993. Ceriodaphnia dubia were exposed to water from the wetlands, which was spiked with Zn. These tests indicated higher assimilative capacity in wetland RMA4 relative to RMA3. Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) was significantly greater in RMA4 than in RMA3, suggesting that it may have influenced differences in bioavailability of Zn in wetland water. Suspended solids were also consistently higher in RMA4 than in RMA3. To test the influence of suspended solids on contaminant assimilation, C. dubia were exposed to filtered and unfiltered Zn-spiked water from RMA4. The greater toxicity of Zn to C. dubia in filtered water indicated that suspended solids were important in ameliorating impacts of Zn in RMA4. Results from this study suggest that from the suite of variables assessed, DOC and suspended solids were the most important physiochemical influences on Zn toxicity within the water column of these two wetlands. Differences in habitat characteristics of RMA3 and RMA4 demonstrated the importance of site-selection toward functional design of wetlands. BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Homozygosity for the thermolabile variant of 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (C677T) that causes hyperhomocysteinemia has been reported in 5-15% of general populations. This mutation has also been suggested to be positively associated with the risk of vascular disease and neural tube defects. It has also been suggested that present dietary reference values may need to be altered for people heterozygote or homozygote for this mutation as tissue folate status has been reported to be compromised by these genetic variants. The aims of this study were to investigate the distribution of 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (C677T) polymorphism in a population of Shiraz, south west of Iran and to test the hypothesis that folate status is compromised by this mutation in our population. METHODS: In this study age, body mass index, plasma and red blood cell 5-methytetrahydrofolate, plasma total homocysteine and vitamin B12 of 391 healthy Iranians (198 men and 193 women) together with methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase C667T genotypes were determined. The correlates of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase polymorphism were determined using univariate and multivariate statistical analysis. RESULTS: The frequencies of CC, CT and TT genotypes were 56.2%, 38.7% and 5.1%, respectively. The C and T allele frequencies were determined to be 0.76 and 0.24, respectively and this polymorphism was compatible with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (X2=1.54, df=2, P=0.46). Among all the variables examined, red blood cell 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (P=0.007, ANOVA) and plasma 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (P=0.012, ANOVA) were significantly lower in individuals with TT genotype than those with either CC or CT genotype. Plasma total homocysteine was significantly higher in individuals with TT than those with either CC or CT genotype at below the median levels of red blood cell 5-methylterahydrofolate (P=0.03, ANOVA) and plasma 5-methylterahydrofolate (P=0.04, ANOVA). Univariate (r=-0.16, P=0.002) and multivariate analysis (beta=-0.0005, P=0.003) showed that red blood cell 5-methylterahydrofolate was the strongest correlates of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase genotypes. CONCLUSIONS: Results from this study suggest that methyltetrahydrofoate reductase C667T genotypes are strongly and independently associated with low red blood cell 5-methylterahydrofolate that has been reported to be a more reliable and long-term marker for body's folate status among Iranians. These results may suggest that substantial minority of people in general populations may have increased folate needs and this may place doubts on the validity of assuming "normality" for nutrient requirements in any general population.  相似文献

Methyl parathion (MeP) was introduced into constructed wetlands for the purpose of assessing the influence of emergent vegetation on transport and toxicity of the pesticide. Two vegetated (90% cover, mainly Juncus effusus) and two nonvegetated wetland cells (each with a water body of 50 x 5.5 x 0.2 m) were each dosed with 6.5 m3 of water containing active ingredient of MeP at 6.6 mg/L associated with suspended soil at 400 mg/L to simulate a storm runoff event. Acute toxicity was assessed by sampling benthic macroinvertebrates at 5, 10, 20, and 40 m from the inlet before and 96 h after contamination and by in situ exposure of Chironomus tentans (Diptera) up to 24 h after contamination. Methyl parathion was detected throughout the nonvegetated wetland cells (70 microg/L at 20 m, 8 microg/L at 40 m), whereas the pesticide was not transported through the vegetated wetland cells (20 microg/L at 20 m, < 0.1 microg/L at 40 m). A three-way analysis of variance using contamination (repeated measure variable), location, and vegetation indicated significant negative effects of contamination on various insect taxa, such as mayfly nymphs and caddisfly larvae. Seven out of the total of 15 species revealed a significant contamination x vegetation effect, with individuals in the vegetated wetlands being less affected. Four species showed a significant contamination x location effect, confirming a higher toxicity in the inlet area of the wetlands. A significant three-way interaction of contamination x vegetation x location was detected in Chironomus sp., which was most strongly affected at the inlet area of the nonvegetated wetland cells. The in situ bioassay employing C. tentans confirmed the positive effect of wetland vegetation on MeP toxicity. These results demonstrate the importance of vegetation for pesticide mitigation in constructed wetlands.  相似文献

Typha domingensis had become the dominant species after 2 years of operation of a wetland constructed for metallurgical effluent treatment. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to investigate its ability to tolerate the effluent and to maintain the contaminant removal efficiency of the constructed wetland. Plant, sediment, and water at the inlet and outlet of the constructed wetland and in two natural wetlands were sampled. Metal concentration (Cr, Ni, and Zn) and total phosphorus were significantly higher in tissues of plants growing at the inlet in comparison with those from the outlet and natural wetlands. Even though the chlorophyll concentration was sensitive to effluent toxicity, biomass and plant height at the inlet and outlet were significantly higher than those in the natural wetlands. The highest root and stele cross-sectional areas, number of vessels, and biomass registered in inlet plants promoted the uptake, transport, and accumulation of contaminants in tissues. The modifications recorded accounted for the adaptability of T. domingensis to the conditions prevailing in the constructed wetland, which allowed this plant to become the dominant species and enabled the wetland to maintain a high contaminant retention capacity.  相似文献

Mercury is present at elevated levels in the top predators living in High Arctic ecosystems. Because only methylmercury (MeHg) bioaccumulates in food chains, the sources need to be identified. In temperate environments, wetlands are considered to be the principal sources of MeHg, with sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) thought to be responsible. The present study investigated whether High Arctic wetlands produced MeHg and whether SRB were involved in MeHg formation. Frozen soil was collected from 18 High Arctic wetlands before ground thaw, and when analyzed for MeHg, values were low, averaging 0.065 ng/g. When soils were incubated for 30 and 60 d at typical summer Arctic soil temperatures (4 degrees C and 8 degrees C), MeHg increased up to 100-fold. These laboratory observations were consistent with field measurements of wetland surface water, where MeHg concentrations increased from near detection limits (0.02 ng/L) at the inflow to an average of 1.21 ng/L at the outflow. Both laboratory and field data showed MeHg production in High Arctic wetlands. The prevalence of SRB in soil was low, however, and DNA analysis of the dissimilatory sulfate-reductase gene specific to SRB was positive at only one site. The present study showed that wetlands in the High Arctic can produce MeHg but that SRB may not the dominant mercury methylators.  相似文献

Forty-four pairs of game-farm mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) were fed ABATE® 4E (temephos) to yield 0, 1, or 10 ppm ABATE® beginning before the initiation of lay, and terminating when ducklings were 21 days of age. The mean interval between eggs laid was greater for hens fed 10 ppm ABATE® than for controls. Clutch size, fertility, hatchability, nest attentiveness of incubating hens, and avoidance behavior of ducklings were not significantly affected by ABATE® ingestion. The percentage survival of ducklings to 21 days of age was significantly lower in both treated groups than in controls, but brain acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity was not inhibited in young which died before termination of the study. In 21-day-old ducklings, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity increased and plasma nonspecific cholinesterase (ChE) activity was inhibited by about 20% in both treatment groups, but there were no significant differences in brain AChE or plasma alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities, or plasma uric acid concentration. Clinical chemistry values of adults were not affected. No ABATE®, ABATE® sulfoxide, or ABATE® sulfone residues were found in eggs or tissue samples.  相似文献

The majority of studies on the toxicity of glyphosate-based herbicides to amphibians have focused on larval life stages exposed in aqueous media. However, adult and juvenile amphibians may also be exposed directly or indirectly to herbicides. The potential for such exposures is of particular interest in the littoral zone surrounding wetlands as this is preferred habitat for many amphibian species. Moreover, it may be argued that potential herbicide effects on juvenile or adult amphibians could have comparatively greater influence on overall recruitment, reproductive potential and thus stability of local populations than effects on larvae. In this experiment, juvenile green frogs (Lithobates clamitans) were exposed to two concentrations (2.16 and 4.27 kg a.e./ha) of a glyphosate-based herbicide formulation (VisionMax®), which were based on typical application scenarios in Canadian forestry. The experimental design employed frogs inhabiting in situ enclosures established at the edge of small naturalized wetlands that were split in half using an impermeable plastic barrier. When analyzed using nominal target application rates, exposure to the glyphosate-based herbicide had no significant effect on survival, body condition, liver somatic index or the observed rate of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis infection. However, there were marginal trends in both ANOVA analysis and post-hoc regressions regarding B. dendrobatidis infection rates and liver somatic index in relation to measured exposure estimates. Results from this study highlight the importance of field research and the need to include multiple endpoints when examining potential effects of a contaminant on non-target organisms.  相似文献

Triatoma sordida has a widespread distribution in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay and is frequently found in peridomestic environments. We investigated size and shape variability of T. sordida wings across Brazil. Field-collected adults from twelve populations were studied. For each individual female, seven landmarks on the right wing were digitalized. Shape variables derived from Procrustes superimposition were used in Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Wing size and shape variations among populations was explored by means of ANOVA. Wing centroid size was significantly different among T. sordida populations; specimens from Bahia (East) were larger than those of Mato Grosso do Sul (West). PCA based on wing shape variables showed low wing shape variability. These results reinforce previous data showing low genetic variability among T. sordida populations from Brazil.  相似文献

Aquatic turtles are suitable biomonitors of wetland ecosystem health because they are long-lived and occupy elevated trophic positions in wetland food webs. This study aimed to determine Hg exposure in adult Blanding’s turtles (Emydoidea blandingii), an imperiled prairie-wetland species endemic to the northern U.S. and southern Canada. Claw samples were collected from gravid females from four wetland sites in northeast Illinois. Claw Hg concentrations ranged from 654 to 3132 ng/g and we found no effect of body size (carapace length, CL) and some evidence for an effect of wetland site (WS) on mean Hg (i.e. weak effect of site on Hg, detected between WS1 and WS3). Claw Hg concentrations reported in this study were lower than claw concentrations published for other freshwater turtles (e.g. Chelydra serpentina, Sternotherus oderatus). This is the first Hg-related study on Blanding’s turtles and can serve as a reference for other Hg studies in Illinois wetlands.  相似文献

Forty-five elements were determined in mantle muscle and liver of juvenile Japanese common squid, Todarodes pacificus, collected from three locations in and near Japanese coasts, using a high-resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (HR-ICP-MS) and an inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscope (ICP-AES). Multivariate statistical techniques were applied to discriminate populations of squids from these three locations by treating absolute and relative concentrations of trace elements. Significant differences were found in the concentrations of elements, particularly for some alkaline and alkaline earth elements in the muscle and liver and for some 3d transition elements in the liver of three groups of squids. Squids from the Pacific Ocean could be distinguished from those of the Sea of Japan by discriminant function analysis of elemental concentrations. Based on the analysis, the squids collected from the Nemuro Strait in Japan were predicted to belong to those from the Sea of Japan. Elemental concentrations and discriminant function analysis can be used to identify subpopulations and migratory routes of squids. Received: 6 January 2001/Accepted: 19 March 2001  相似文献

目的 通过盲态下内部预试验IPS样本量调整的模拟分析,探索协变量存在前提下有效控制Ⅰ型错误、保证检验效能的合理统计方法.方法 利用蒙特-卡罗法模拟存在协变量时的两阶段自适应设计过程,分别采用协方差分析法和方差分析法分析两阶段数据,采用合并P值法确定检验的最终结果,比较两种方法对Ⅰ型错误、检验效能值的影响.结果 采用方差分析的Ⅰ型错误膨胀较协方差分析要大,检验效能也较协方差分析略低,但是Ⅰ型错误的增大更明显.结论 根据第一阶段的方差和组间均值差调整样本量时,如果存在协变量,应采用协方差分析方法分别分析第一、二阶段的数据,然后采用合并P值法做出统计推断.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Studying magnesium pools in the body with use of stable isotopes may be helpful for evaluating magnesium status. Data on the evaluation of magnesium pools in humans are scarce. OBJECTIVE: We undertook this study to evaluate the effects of a magnesium supplementation program on the size of the exchangeable body pools of magnesium and on classic indexes of magnesium status in healthy women with normal magnesium status. DESIGN: Ten healthy women participated in a kinetic study with magnesium stable isotopes before and after 8 wk of magnesium supplementation. Each woman received 3 supplements containing 5.08 mmol (122 mg) elemental Mg/d (366 mg/d). Before and at the end of the supplementation period, each woman received an intravenous injection of 1.67 mmol (40 mg) (25)Mg, and the plasma magnesium disappearance curve was followed for the next 7 d. Two methods were used to analyze the exchangeable pools of magnesium: 1) formal multicompartmental modeling and 2) a simplified estimation of the total mass of the rapidly exchangeable magnesium pool (EMgP). RESULTS: In these healthy women, exchangeable magnesium pools represented 11-12% of total body magnesium on the basis of multicompartmental analysis. The simplified estimation of EMgP overestimated the size of the exchangeable magnesium pools by approximately 45-50%. Eight weeks of magnesium supplementation did not significantly modify the size of the exchangeable magnesium pools, whereas urinary magnesium excretion was significantly higher after 8 wk of supplementation. CONCLUSION: Women with no clinical evidence of magnesium deficiency may not respond to short-term supplementation with increases in the mass of the exchangeable magnesium body pool or in magnesium turnover rates.  相似文献
