Background

The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in quality of life scores and their association with therapy and survival in unselected elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia.

Design and Methods

From February 2003 to February 2007, 113 patients aged more than 60 years with de novo acute myeloid leukemia were enrolled in a prospective observational study. Two different quality of life instruments were employed: the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire – C30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) and a health-related quality of life questionnaire for patients with hematologic diseases (QOL-E).

Results

Forty-eight patients (42.4%) received intensive chemotherapy and 65 (57.6%) were given palliative treatments. Age greater than 70 years (P=0.007) and concomitant diseases (P=0.019) had a significant impact on treatment allocation. At diagnosis, general quality of life was affected [median QOL-E standardized score 54, interquartile range 46–70; median EORTC global score 50, interquartile range 41–66]. Most patients were given a good ECOG Performance Status (< 2), which did not correlate with the patients’ perception of quality of life. At multivariate analysis, palliative approaches (P=0.016), age more than 70 years (P=0.013) and concomitant diseases (P=0.035) each had an independent negative impact on survival. In a multivariate model corrected for age, concomitant diseases and treatment option, survival was independently predicted by QOL-E functional (P=0.002) and EORTC QLQ-C30 physical function (P=0.030) scores.

Conclusions

Quality of life could have an important role in elderly acute myeloid leukemia patients at diagnosis as a prognostic factor for survival and a potential factor for treatment decisions.  相似文献

Background:

For chronic pancreatitis, European prospective trials have concluded that duodenum-preserving head resections (DPHR) are associated with less morbidity and similar pain relief and quality of life (QoL) outcomes compared with pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). However, DPHR procedures are seldom performed in North America.

Methods:

Patients undergoing PD or DPHR for unremitting pain secondary to chronic pancreatitis were retrospectively identified. Quality of life was assessed cross-sectionally using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality-of-Life Questionnaire (QLQ-C30) and pancreatic cancer-specific supplemental module (QLQ-PAN26).

Results:

Eighty-one patients underwent either a Whipple PD (n= 59) or a DPHR (Bern, Beger or Frey procedure, n= 22) for the treatment of pain caused by chronic pancreatitis over a 5-year period. The characteristics of patients undergoing DPHR and PD procedures were similar. Duration of procedure (360 min vs. 245 min), duration of hospital stay (12.0 days vs. 9.5 days) and estimated blood loss (535 ml vs. 214 ml) were all significantly less for DPHR patients (P < 0.05). Thirty-day morbidity and mortality, postoperative pain relief and QoL scores did not differ significantly between groups.

Conclusions:

Duodenum-preserving head resection is equally as effective as PD in relieving pain and improving QoL in chronic pancreatitis patients, and involves a shorter hospital stay and less blood loss.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE:

Non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer. Most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, palliative chemotherapy therefore being the only treatment option. This study was aimed at evaluating the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of advanced-stage NSCLC patients receiving palliative chemotherapy with carboplatin and paclitaxel.

METHODS:

This was a multiple case study of advanced-stage NSCLC outpatients receiving chemotherapy at a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Core Quality of Life Questionnaire was used in conjunction with its supplemental lung cancer-specific module in order to assess HRQoL.

RESULTS:

Physical and cognitive functioning scale scores differed significantly among chemotherapy cycles, indicating improved and worsened HRQoL, respectively. The differences regarding the scores for pain, loss of appetite, chest pain, and arm/shoulder pain indicated improved HRQoL.

CONCLUSIONS:

Chemotherapy was found to improve certain aspects of HRQoL in patients with advanced-stage NSCLC.  相似文献

Objectives

Total pancreatectomy (TP) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The severity of postoperative diabetes and existence of ‘brittle diabetes’ are unclear. This study sought to identify quality of life (QoL) and diabetes-specific outcomes after TP.

Methods

Patients who underwent TP were matched for age, sex and duration of diabetes with patients with type 1 diabetes. General QoL was assessed using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) core quality of life questionnaire QLQ-C30 and the PAN26 tool. Diabetes-specific outcomes were assessed using the Problem Areas in Diabetes (PAID) tool and an assessment of diabetes-specific complications and outcomes.

Results

A total of 123 patients underwent TP; 88 died (none of diabetic complications) and two were lost to follow-up. Of the remaining 33 patients, 28 returned questionnaires. Fourteen general and pancreas-specific QoL measurements were all significantly worse amongst the TP cohort (QLQ-C30 + PAN26). However, when diabetes-specific outcomes were compared using the PAID tool, only one of 20 was significantly worse. HbA1c values were comparable (P = 0.299), as were diabetes-related complications such as hypoglycaemic attacks and organ dysfunction.

Conclusions

Total pancreatectomy is associated with impaired QoL on general measures compared with that in type 1 diabetes patients. Importantly, however, there was almost no significant difference in diabetes-specific outcomes as assessed by a diabetes-specific questionnaire, or in diabetes control. This study does not support the existence of ‘brittle diabetes’ after TP.  相似文献

Introductions

In the care of hypertension, it is important that health professionals possess available tools that allow evaluating the impairment of the health-related quality of life, according to the severity of hypertension and the risk for cardiovascular events. Among the instruments developed for the assessment of health-related quality of life, there is the Mini-Cuestionario of Calidad de Vida en la Hipertensión Arterial (MINICHAL) recently adapted to the Brazilian culture.

Objective

To estimate the validity of known groups of the Brazilian version of the MINICHAL regarding the classification of risk for cardiovascular events, symptoms, severity of dyspnea and target-organ damage.

Methods

Data of 200 hypertensive outpatients concerning sociodemographic and clinical information and health-related quality of life were gathered by consulting the medical charts and the application of the Brazilian version of MINICHAL. The Mann-Whitney test was used to compare health-related quality of life in relation to symptoms and target-organ damage. The Kruskal-Wallis test and ANOVA with ranks transformation were used to compare health-related quality of life in relation to the classification of risk for cardiovascular events and intensity of dyspnea, respectively.

Results

The MINICHAL was able to discriminate health-related quality of life in relation to symptoms and kidney damage, but did not discriminate health-related quality of life in relation to the classification of risk for cardiovascular events.

Conclusion

The Brazilian version of the MINICHAL is a questionnaire capable of discriminating differences on the health‑related quality of life regarding dyspnea, chest pain, palpitation, lipothymy, cephalea and renal damage.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE:

To compare lung function between patients with post-poliomyelitis syndrome and those with sequelae of paralytic poliomyelitis (without any signs or symptoms of post-poliomyelitis syndrome), as well as between patients with post-poliomyelitis syndrome and healthy controls.

METHODS:

Twenty-nine male participants were assigned to one of three groups: control; poliomyelitis (comprising patients who had had paralytic poliomyelitis but had not developed post-poliomyelitis syndrome); and post-poliomyelitis syndrome. Volunteers underwent lung function measurements (spirometry and respiratory muscle strength assessment).

RESULTS:

The results of the spirometric assessment revealed no significant differences among the groups except for an approximately 27% lower mean maximal voluntary ventilation in the post-poliomyelitis syndrome group when compared with the control group (p = 0.0127). Nevertheless, the maximal voluntary ventilation values for the post-poliomyelitis group were compared with those for the Brazilian population and were found to be normal. No significant differences were observed in respiratory muscle strength among the groups.

CONCLUSIONS:

With the exception of lower maximal voluntary ventilation, there was no significant lung function impairment in outpatients diagnosed with post-poliomyelitis syndrome when compared with healthy subjects and with patients with sequelae of poliomyelitis without post-poliomyelitis syndrome. This is an important clinical finding because it shows that patients with post-poliomyelitis syndrome can have preserved lung function.  相似文献

Background

The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate whether pre-surgery health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and subjectively rated symptom scores are prognostic factors for survival in patients with resectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

Methods

Patients undergoing pancreatic resection for PDAC completed the Edmonton Symptom Assessment System (ESAS) and the EORTC QLQ-C30 and QLQ-PAN26 questionnaires preoperatively. Patient, tumor and treatment characteristics, recurrence and survival were registered.

Results

Sixty-six consecutive patients underwent R0/R1 resection for PDAC. Baseline ESAS and EORTC questionnaire compliance was 44/66 (67%) with no statistically significant differences between compliers (n = 44) and non-compliers (n = 22) when comparing clinicopathological parameters and survival. Univariable analyses showed that three symptoms (nausea, dry mouth, cognitive function) and two clinicopathological factors (CA 19-9 > 400 U/ml, lymph node ratio > 0.1) were significantly associated with shorter survival (p < 0.05). In multivariable analysis, cognitive function was the only independent predictor for survival: hazard ratio = 0.35 (95%CI 0.13–0.93) for high vs low cognitive function. Median survival times for patients with high and low cognitive function were 21 and 10 months, respectively (p < 0.001).

Conclusion

Presurgery cognitive function is a significant independent predictor of survival in patients with resectable PDAC. Thus, presurgery patient reported outcomes may provide as strong prognostic information as clinicopathological factors.  相似文献

Background

Cardiac Anxiety (CA) is the fear of cardiac sensations, characterized by recurrent anxiety symptoms, in patients with or without cardiovascular disease. The Cardiac Anxiety Questionnaire (CAQ) is a tool to assess CA, already adapted but not validated to Portuguese.

Objective

This paper presents the three phases of the validation studies of the Brazilian CAQ.

Methods

To extract the factor structure and assess the reliability of the CAQ (phase 1), 98 patients with coronary artery disease were recruited. The aim of phase 2 was to explore the convergent and divergent validity. Fifty-six patients completed the CAQ, along with the Body Sensations Questionnaire (BSQ) and the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN). To determine the discriminative validity (phase 3), we compared the CAQ scores of two subgroups formed with patients from phase 1 (n = 98), according to the diagnoses of panic disorder and agoraphobia, obtained with the MINI - Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview.

Results

A 2-factor solution was the most interpretable (46.4% of the variance). Subscales were named "Fear and Hypervigilance" (n = 9; alpha = 0.88), and "Avoidance", (n = 5; alpha = 0.82). Significant correlation was found between factor 1 and the BSQ total score (p < 0.01), but not with factor 2. SPIN factors showed significant correlations with CAQ subscales (p < 0.01). In phase 3, "Cardiac with panic" patients scored significantly higher in CAQ factor 1 (t = -3.42; p < 0.01, CI = -1.02 to -0.27), and higher, but not significantly different, in factor 2 (t = -1.98; p = 0.51, CI = -0.87 to 0.00).

Conclusions

These results provide a definite Brazilian validated version of the CAQ, adequate to clinical and research settings.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE:

To assess blockade of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9, as well as the variation in FEV1, in patients with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) treated with doxycycline (a known MMP inhibitor) for 12 months.

METHODS:

An open-label, single-arm, interventional clinical trial in which LAM patients received doxycycline (100 mg/day) for 12 months. Patients underwent full pulmonary function testing, a six-minute walk test, and quality of life assessment, as well as blood and urine sampling for quantification of MMP-2, MMP-9, and VEGF-D levels-at baseline, as well as at 6 and 12 months after the initiation of doxycycline.

RESULTS:

Thirty-one LAM patients received doxycycline for 12 months. Although there was effective blockade of urinary MMP-9 and serum MMP-2 after treatment, there were no significant differences between pre and post-doxycycline serum levels of MMP-9 and VEGF-D. On the basis of their response to doxycycline (as determined by the variation in FEV1), the patients were divided into two groups: the doxycycline-responder (doxy-R) group (n = 13); and the doxycycline-nonresponder (doxy-NR) group (n = 18). The patients with mild spirometric abnormalities responded better to doxycycline. The most common side effects were mild epigastric pain, nausea, and diarrhea.

CONCLUSIONS:

In patients with LAM, doxycycline treatment results in effective MMP blockade, as well as in improved lung function and quality of life in those with less severe disease. However, these benefits do not seem to be related to the MMP blockade, raising the hypothesis that there is a different mechanism of action.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE:

To investigate the impact of a pulmonary rehabilitation program on the functional capacity and on the quality of life of patients on waiting lists for lung transplantation.

METHODS:

Patients on lung transplant waiting lists were referred to a pulmonary rehabilitation program consisting of 36 sessions. Before and after the program, participating patients were evaluated with the six-minute walk test and the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36). The pulmonary rehabilitation program involved muscle strengthening exercises, aerobic training, clinical evaluation, psychiatric evaluation, nutritional counseling, social assistance, and educational lectures.

RESULTS:

Of the 112 patients initially referred to the program, 58 completed it. The mean age of the participants was 46 ± 14 years, and females accounted for 52%. Of those 58 patients, 37 (47%) had pulmonary fibrosis, 13 (22%) had pulmonary emphysema, and 18 (31%) had other types of advanced lung disease. The six-minute walk distance was significantly greater after the program than before (439 ± 114 m vs. 367 ± 136 m, p = 0.001), the mean increase being 72 m. There were significant point increases in the scores on the following SF-36 domains: physical functioning, up 22 (p = 0.001), role-physical, up 10 (p = 0.045); vitality, up 10 (p < 0.001); social functioning, up 15 (p = 0.001); and mental health, up 8 (p = 0.001).

CONCLUSIONS:

Pulmonary rehabilitation had a positive impact on exercise capacity and quality of life in patients on lung transplant waiting lists.  相似文献

Background

Transposition of the great arteries (TGA) is the most common cyanotic cardiopathy, with an incidence ranging between 0.2 and 0.4 per 1000 live births. Many patients not treated in the first few months of life may progress with severe pulmonary vascular disease. Treatment of these patients may include palliative surgery to redirect the flow at the atrial level.

Objective

Report our institutional experience with the palliative Senning procedure in children diagnosed with TGA and double outlet right ventricle with severe pulmonary vascular disease, and to evaluate the early and late clinical progression of the palliative Senning procedure.

Methods

Retrospective study based on the evaluation of medical records in the period of 1991 to 2014. Only patients without an indication for definitive surgical treatment of the cardiopathy due to elevated pulmonary pressure were included.

Results

After one year of follow-up there was a mean increase in arterial oxygen saturation from 62.1% to 92.5% and a mean decrease in hematocrit from 49.4% to 36.3%. Lung histological analysis was feasible in 16 patients. In 8 patients, pulmonary biopsy grades 3 and 4 were evidenced.

Conclusion

The palliative Senning procedure improved arterial oxygen saturation, reduced polycythemia, and provided a better quality of life for patients with TGA with ventricular septal defect, severe pulmonary hypertension, and poor prognosis.  相似文献

Objective:

Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a minimally invasive, safe and accurate method for collecting samples from mediastinal and hilar lymph nodes. This study focused on the initial results obtained with EBUS-TBNA for lung cancer and lymph node staging at three teaching hospitals in Brazil.

Methods:

This was a retrospective analysis of patients diagnosed with lung cancer and submitted to EBUS-TBNA for mediastinal lymph node staging. The EBUS-TBNA procedures, which involved the use of an EBUS scope, an ultrasound processor, and a compatible, disposable 22 G needle, were performed while the patients were under general anesthesia.

Results:

Between January of 2011 and January of 2014, 149 patients underwent EBUS-TBNA for lymph node staging. The mean age was 66 ± 12 years, and 58% were male. A total of 407 lymph nodes were sampled by EBUS-TBNA. The most common types of lung neoplasm were adenocarcinoma (in 67%) and squamous cell carcinoma (in 24%). For lung cancer staging, EBUS-TBNA was found to have a sensitivity of 96%, a specificity of 100%, and a negative predictive value of 85%.

Conclusions:

We found EBUS-TBNA to be a safe and accurate method for lymph node staging in lung cancer patients.  相似文献

BACKGROUND:

Few studies have investigated the relationship between physiological outcomes and quality of life in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Health-related quality of life (HRQL) data may provide a valuable patient-centred outcome for the evaluation of interventions. Determination of which physiological and functional variables are associated with HRQL may facilitate interpretation of disease progression and impacts of therapy.

OBJECTIVES:

To determine whether an association between Medical Outcomes Short-Form 36 and St George’s Respiratory Questionnaire scores and other markers of disease severity exist, and to identify which physiological and functional variables are independently associated with HRQL.

METHODS:

In a cross-sectional study, 137 patients with IPF completed HRQL surveys and underwent clinical assessment. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between age, forced vital capacity, diffusing capacity of carbon monoxide, 6 min walk distance (6MWD) and oxygen requirement, and HRQL scores.

RESULTS:

6MWD was the only functional measure of disease severity significantly associated with all domain scores of the St George’s Respiratory Questionnaire and the Medical Outcomes Short-Form 36 physical component summary score.

CONCLUSIONS:

6MWD was associated with HRQL among patients with IPF. This highlights the importance of 6MWD not only as a prognostic indicator in IPF, but also a predictor of HRQL and a meaningful outcome for patients.  相似文献

Background

Long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) is sometimes prescribed for patients with advanced lung cancer who are potential candidates for chemotherapy. The aim of this study was to assess the usefulness of chemotherapy for patients with this disease who require LTOT.

Methods

The medical records of 40 patients with advanced lung cancer who received LTOT while undergoing systemic chemotherapy at our institution between January 2009 and December 2014 were retrospectively reviewed. Chemotherapy consisted of cytotoxic or molecular-targeted agents.

Results

Twenty-four patients had adenocarcinoma, 6 had squamous cell carcinoma, and 10 had small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The median survival time from the date of the first chemotherapy cycle performed in conjunction with LTOT was 194 days. In a multivariate analysis, the only factor significantly associated with better prognosis was the line (first or second) of the first chemotherapy with LTOT (hazard ratio =0.42; 95% confidence interval, 0.18 to 0.94). Among the 40 patients, 10 (25%) received chemotherapy during the last 30 days of their lives, 2 of whom died of chemotherapy-related adverse events.

Conclusions

Chemotherapy for patients with advanced lung cancer who receive LTOT may be acceptable if it is the first- or second-line treatment. However, we should be mindful of the potential overuse of chemotherapy and its negative impact on quality of life.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE:

To evaluate the effects of an outpatient education program in patients with uncontrolled asthma.

METHODS:

This was an uncontrolled study evaluating an educational intervention and involving patients with uncontrolled asthma ≥ 14 years of age. The participants completed a questionnaire designed to assess the level of asthma control, the inhalation technique, and quality of life. All of the patients underwent pulmonary function testing, after which they participated in an education program consisting of one 45-min face-to-face session, followed by phone interviews at two, four, and eight weeks. The participants were reevaluated after three months.

RESULTS:

Sixty-three patients completed the study. There was a significant improvement in the level of asthma control (p < 0.001). Of the 63 patients, 28 (44.4%) and 6 (9.5%) were classified as having partially controlled asthma and controlled asthma, respectively. The mean FEV1 was 63.0 ± 20.0% and 68.5 ± 21.2% of the predicted value prior to and after the educational intervention, respectively (p = 0.002), and all of the quality of life scores improved (p < 0.05 for all). The same was true for the proportion of patients prior to and after the educational intervention using the proper inhalation technique when using metered dose inhalers (15.4% vs. 46.2%; p = 0.02) and dry powder inhalers (21.3% vs. 76.6%; p < 0.001). The logistic regression analysis revealed that an incorrect inhalation technique identified during the first evaluation was independently associated with a favorable response to the educational intervention.

CONCLUSIONS:

This study suggests that an outpatient education program for asthma patients improves the level of asthma control, lung function parameters, and quality of life. An incorrect inhalation technique identified during the first evaluation was predictive of a favorable response to the educational intervention.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE:

To evaluate the impact of asthma, by gender, in a population sample of asthma patients in Brazil.

METHODS:

We conducted face-to-face interviews with 400 subjects (> 12 years of age) included in a national probability telephone sample of asthma patients in the Brazilian state capitals of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, and Salvador. Each of those 400 subjects completed a 53-item questionnaire that addressed five asthma domains: symptoms; impact of asthma on quality of life; perception of asthma control; exacerbations; and treatment/medication.

RESULTS:

Of the 400 patients interviewed, 272 (68%) were female. In relation to respiratory symptoms, the proportion of women reporting extremely bothersome symptoms (cough with sputum, tightness in the chest, cough/shortness of breath/tightness in the chest during exercise, nocturnal shortness of breath, and nocturnal cough) was greater than was that of men. Daytime symptoms, such as cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, and tightness in the chest, were more common among women than among men. Women also more often reported that their asthma interfered with normal physical exertion, social activities, sleep, and life in general. Regarding the impact of asthma on quality of life, the proportion of subjects who reported that asthma caused them to feel that they had no control over their lives and affected the way that they felt about themselves was also greater among women than among men.

CONCLUSIONS:

Among women, asthma tends to be more symptomatic, as well as having a more pronounced effect on activities of daily living and on quality of life.  相似文献

BACKGROUND:

The Internet is becoming an increasingly common source of health information for patients.

OBJECTIVE:

To examine the quality of gastrointestinal disease- and symptom-related Internet sites that might be searched by patients.

METHODS:

A total of 120 websites were evaluated from July to November 2009 using the DISCERN instrument to determine the quality of content of health and treatment information.

RESULTS:

There was substantial variability in the quality of Internet resources regarding gastrointestinal diseases and their symptoms. Information-based and institutional websites were rated highest. Resources related to celiac disease, colon cancer and abdominal pain scored the highest.

CONCLUSIONS:

Overall, the quality of web-based resources was variable. Because patient education is important in the management of gastroenterological diseases, the increasing use of the Internet poses new opportunities and challenges for physicians.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE:

Lung cancer (LC) is the leading cause of cancer-related death and represents a major public health problem worldwide. Another major cause of morbidity and mortality, especially in developing countries, is tuberculosis. The simultaneous or sequential occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis and LC in the same patient has been reported in various case series and case-control studies. The objective of this study was to describe the characteristics of patients developing tuberculosis and LC, either simultaneously or sequentially.

METHODS:

This was a cross-sectional study based on the review of medical charts.

RESULTS:

The study involved 24 patients diagnosed with tuberculosis and LC between 2009 and 2012. The diagnoses of tuberculosis and LC occurred simultaneously in 10 patients, whereas tuberculosis was diagnosed prior to LC in 14. The median time between the two diagnoses was 5 years (interquartile range: 1-30 years). Fourteen patients (58.3%) were male, 20 (83.3%) were White, and 22 (91.7%) were smokers or former smokers. The most common histological type was adenocarcinoma, identified in 14 cases (58.3%), followed by epidermoid carcinoma, identified in 6 (25.0%). Seven patients (29.2%) presented with distant metastases at diagnosis; of those 7 patients, 5 (71%) were diagnosed with LC and tuberculosis simultaneously.

CONCLUSIONS:

In the present study, most of the patients with tuberculosis and LC were smokers or former smokers, and tuberculosis was diagnosed either before or simultaneously with LC. Non-small cell lung cancer, especially adenocarcinoma, was the most common histological type.  相似文献

Objective:

To determine the effects of acute and chronic administration of methylprednisolone on oxidative stress, as quantified by measuring lipid peroxidation (LPO) and total reactive antioxidant potential (TRAP), in rat lungs.

Methods:

Forty Wistar rats were divided into four groups: acute treatment, comprising rats receiving a single injection of methylprednisolone (50 mg/kg i.p.); acute control, comprising rats i.p. injected with saline; chronic treatment, comprising rats receiving methylprednisolone in drinking water (6 mg/kg per day for 30 days); and chronic control, comprising rats receiving normal drinking water.

Results:

The levels of TRAP were significantly higher in the acute treatment group rats than in the acute control rats, suggesting an improvement in the pulmonary defenses of the former. The levels of lung LPO were significantly higher in the chronic treatment group rats than in the chronic control rats, indicating oxidative damage in the lung tissue of the former.

Conclusions:

Our results suggest that the acute use of corticosteroids is beneficial to lung tissue, whereas their chronic use is not. The chronic use of methylprednisolone appears to increase lung LPO levels.  相似文献
