In order to obtain high-performance aluminum alloy parts fabricated by selective laser melting, this paper investigates the relationship between the process parameters and microstructure properties of AlSi10Mg. The appropriate process parameters are obtained: the layer thickness is 0.03 mm, the laser power is 370 W, the scanning speed is 1454 mm/s, and the hatch spacing is 0.16 mm. With these process parameters, the ultimate tensile strength of the as-printed status is 500.7 ± 0.8 MPa, the yield strength is 311.5 ± 5.9 MPa, the elongation is 7.7 ± 0.5%, and the relative density is 99.94%. After annealing treatment at 275 °C for 2 h, the ultimate tensile strength is 310.8 ± 1.3 MPa, the yield strength is 198.0 ± 2.0 MPa, and the elongation is 13.7 ± 0.6%. The mechanical properties are mainly due to the high relative density, supersaturate solid solution, and fine dispersed Si. The supersaturate solid solution and nano-sized Si formed by the high cooling rate of SLM. After annealing treatment, the Si have been granulated and grown significantly. The ultimate tensile strength and yield strength are reduced, and the elongation is significantly improved.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of selective laser melting (SLM) process of a nitinol-based NiTiNb shape memory alloy. The eutectic alloy Ni45Ti45Nb10 with a shape memory effect was obtained by SLM in-situ alloying using a powder mixture of NiTi and Nb powder particles. Samples with a high relative density (>99%) were obtained using optimized process parameters. Microstructure, phase composition, tensile properties, as well as martensitic phase transformations temperatures of the produced alloy were investigated in as-fabricated and heat-treated conditions. The NiTiNb alloy fabricated using the SLM in-situ alloying featured the microstructure consisting of the NiTi matrix, fine NiTi+β-Nb eutectics, as well as residual unmelted Nb particles. The mechanical tests showed that the obtained alloy has a yield strength up to 436 MPa and the tensile strength up to 706 MPa. At the same time, in-situ alloying with Nb allowed increasing the hysteresis of martensitic transformation as compared to the alloy without Nb addition from 22 to 50 °C with an increase in Af temperature from −5 to 22 °C.  相似文献

Ti6Al4V (Ti64) alloys manufactured by selective laser melting (SLM) are well known for their susceptibility to failure at a low ductility of less than 10% due to the formation of an (α′) martensitic structure. Annealing and solution treatments as post-heat treatments of α′ are considered a good way to improve the mechanical performance of SLM-manufactured Ti64 parts. In this research, the effect of heat treatment parameters such as temperature (850 °C and 1020 °C) and cooling rate (furnace and water cooling) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the SLM Ti64 structure was investigated. It was shown that the tensile strength/ductility of the Ti64 alloy produced by SLM was determined by the post-heat treatment. The experimental results revealed that heat treatment at 850 °C followed by furnace cooling resulted in the best possible combination of ductility (13%) and tensile strength (σy = 932, σu = 986 MPa) with a microstructure consisting mainly of 78.71% α and 21.29% β. Heat treatment at 850 °C followed by water cooling was characterized by a reduction in hardness and the formation of predominantly α plus α′′ and a small amount of β. HT850WC exhibited yield and tensile strengths of about 870 and 930 MPa, respectively, and an elongation at fracture of 10.4%. Heat treatment at 1020 °C and subsequent cooling in the furnace was characterized by the formation of an α + β lamellar microstructure. In contrast, heat treatment at 1020 °C and subsequent water cooling formed semi-equiaxial β grains of about 170 µm in diameter with longer elongated α grains and basket-weave α′. Post-treatment at 1020 °C followed by furnace cooling showed high ductility with an elongation of 14.5% but low tensile strength (σy = 748, σu = 833 MPa). In contrast, post-treatment at 1020 °C followed by water cooling showed poor ductility with elongation of 8.6% but high tensile strength (σy = 878, σu = 990 MPa). The effect of aging at 550 °C for 3 h and cooling in a furnace on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the specimens cooled with water was also studied. It was found that aging influenced the microstructure of the Ti6Al4V parts, including β, α, and α″ precipitation and fragmentation or globularization of elongated α grains. The aging process at 550 °C leads to an increase in tensile strength and a decrease in ductility.  相似文献

Electron beam directed energy deposition (EB-DED) is a promising manufacturing process for the fabrication of large-scale, fully dense and near net shape metallic components. However, limited knowledge is available on the EB-DED process of titanium alloys. In this study, a near-α high-temperature titanium alloy Ti60 (Ti-5.8Al-4Sn-4Zr-0.7Nb-1.5Ta-0.4Si) was fabricated via EB-DED. The chemical composition, microstructure, tensile property (at room temperature and 600 °C), and creep behavior of the fabricated alloy were investigated and compared with those of the conventional wrought lamellar and bimodal counterparts. Results indicated that the average evaporation loss of Al and Sn was 10.28% and 5.01%, respectively. The microstructure of the as-built alloy was characterized by coarse columnar grains, lamellar α, and the precipitated elliptical silicides at the α/β interfaces. In terms of tensile properties, the vertical specimens exhibited lower strength but higher ductility than the horizontal specimens at both room temperature and 600 °C. Furthermore, the tensile creep strain of the EB-DED Ti60 alloy measured at 600 °C and 150 MPa for 100 h under as-built and post-deposition STA conditions was less than 0.15%, which meets the standard requirements for the wrought Ti60 alloy. The creep resistance of the EB-DED Ti60 alloy was superior to that of its wrought bimodal counterpart.  相似文献

This study investigates the very-high-cycle fatigue (VHCF) behavior at elevated temperature (650 °C) of the Inconel 718 alloy fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM). The results are compared with those of the wrought alloy. Large columnar grain with a cellular structure in the grain interior and Laves/δ phases precipitated along the grain boundaries were exhibited in the SLM alloy, while fine equiaxed grains were present in the wrought alloy. The elevated temperature had a minor effect on the fatigue resistance in the regime below 108 cycles for the SLM alloy but significantly reduced the fatigue strength in the VHCF regime above 108 cycles. Both the SLM and wrought specimens exhibited similar fatigue resistance in the fatigue life regime of fewer than 107–108 cycles at elevated temperature, and the surface initiation mechanism was dominant in both alloys. In a VHCF regime above 107–108 cycles at elevated temperature, the wrought material exhibited slightly better fatigue resistance than the SLM alloy. All fatigue cracks are initiated from the internal defects or the microstructure discontinuities. The precipitation of Laves and δ phases is examined after fatigue tests at high temperatures, and the effect of microstructure on the formation and the propagation of the microstructural small cracks is also discussed.  相似文献

Among laser additive manufacturing, selective laser melting (SLM) is one of the most popular methods to produce 3D printing products. The SLM process creates a product by selectively dissolving a layer of powder. However, due to the layerwise printing of metal powders, the initial microstructure is fully acicular α′-martensitic, and mechanical properties of the resultant product are often compromised. In this study, Ti-6Al-4V alloy was prepared using SLM method. The effect of heat treatment was carried out on as-built SLM Ti-6Al-4V alloy from 650–1000 °C to study respective changes in the morphology of α/α′-martensite and mechanical properties. The phase transition temperature was also analyzed through differential thermal analysis (DTA), and the microstructural studies were undertaken by optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The mechanical properties were assessed by microhardness and compressive tests before and after heat treatment. The results showed that heat treated samples resulted in a reduction in interior defects and pores and turned the morphology of the α′-martensite into a lamellar (α + β) structure. The strength was significantly reduced after heat treatment, but the elongation was improved due to the reduction in columnar α′-martensite phase. An optimum set of strength and elongation was found at 900 °C.  相似文献

The Al-20Si-5Fe-3Cu-1Mg alloy was fabricated using selective laser melting (SLM). The microstructure and properties of the as-prepared SLM, post-treated SLM, and SLM with substrate plate heating are studied. The as-prepared SLM sample shows a non-uniform microstructure with four different phases: fcc-αAl, eutectic Al-Si, Al2MgSi, and δ-Al4FeSi2. With thermal treatment, the phases become coarser and the δ-Al4FeSi2 phase transforms partially to β-Al5FeSi. The sample produced with SLM substrate plate heating shows a relatively uniform microstructure without a distinct difference between hatch overlaps and track cores. Room temperature compression test results show that an as-prepared SLM sample reaches a maximum strength (862 MPa) compared to the heat-treated (524 MPa) and substrate plate heated samples (474 MPa) due to the presence of fine microstructure and the internal stresses. The reduction in strength of the sample produced with substrate plate heating is due to the coarsening of the microstructure, but the plastic deformation shows an improvement (20%). The present observations suggest that substrate plate heating can be effectively employed not only to minimize the internal stresses (by impacting the cooling rate of the process) but can also be used to modulate the mechanical properties in a controlled fashion.  相似文献

Titanium orthorhombic alloys based on intermetallic Ti2AlNb-phase are attractive materials for lightweight high-temperature applications. However, conventional manufacturing of Ti2AlNb-based alloys is costly and labor-consuming. Additive Manufacturing is an attractive way of producing parts from Ti2AlNb-based alloys. High-temperature substrate preheating during Selective Laser Melting is required to obtain crack-free intermetallic alloys. Due to the nature of substrate preheating, the temperature profile along the build height might be uneven leading to inhomogeneous microstructure and defects. The microstructural homogeneity of the alloy along the build direction was evaluated. The feasibility of mitigating the microstructural inhomogeneity was investigated by fabricating Ti2AlNb-alloy samples with graded microstructure and subjecting them to annealing. Hot isostatic pressing allowed us to achieve a homogeneous microstructure, eliminate residual micro defects, and improve mechanical properties with tensile strength reaching 1027 MPa and 860 MPa at room temperature and 650 °C, correspondingly. Annealing of the microstructurally graded alloy at 1050 °C allowed us to obtain a homogeneous B2 + O microstructure with a uniform microhardness distribution. The results of the study showed that the microstructural inhomogeneity of the titanium orthorhombic alloy obtained by SLM can be mitigated by annealing or hot isostatic pressing. Additionally, it was shown that by applying multiple-laser exposure for processing each layer it is possible to locally tailor the phase volume and morphology and achieve microstructure and properties similar to the Ti2AlNb-alloy obtained at higher preheating temperatures.  相似文献

We used selective laser melting (SLM) and hot pressing of mechanically-alloyed β-type Ti–40Nb powder to fabricate macroporous bulk specimens (solid cylinders). The total porosity, compressive strength, and compressive elastic modulus of the SLM-fabricated material were determined as 17% ± 1%, 968 ± 8 MPa, and 33 ± 2 GPa, respectively. The alloy’s elastic modulus is comparable to that of healthy cancellous bone. The comparable results for the hot-pressed material were 3% ± 2%, 1400 ± 19 MPa, and 77 ± 3 GPa. This difference in mechanical properties results from different porosity and phase composition of the two alloys. Both SLM-fabricated and hot-pressed cylinders demonstrated good in vitro biocompatibility. The presented results suggest that the SLM-fabricated alloy may be preferable to the hot-pressed alloy for biomedical applications, such as the manufacture of load-bearing metallic components for total joint replacements.  相似文献

The present work investigated the effect of aging treatment on the microstructure and tensile properties of an Al-2%Cu base alloy containing various additions of Zr and other alloying elements. Aging was carried out at temperatures of 180–300 °C for different aging times at each temperature. The tensile properties indicated that Zr additions improved the strength of the base alloy, especially at high Zr levels at 180 °C. At the 220 °C aging temperature, however, while Zr addition did not have a beneficial effect on the alloy strength, the ductility was found to improve. Zr-Ti combined additions had a significant effect on the microstructure of the base alloy, as the morphology of the α-Al grains transformed into a non-dendritic morphology, and the grain size decreased sharply. These effects were at their maximum at 180 °C and 0.5 wt% Zr addition. Moreover, the Zr-containing alloys aged at higher temperatures, such as 220 °C and 240 °C, maintained a noticeably higher level of strength over the base alloy aged at the same temperatures. Quality index charts based on the tensile test data also reflected an improvement in alloy quality and strength with Zr-Ti combined additions.  相似文献

An investigation of mechanical properties of Ti6Al4V produced by additive manufacturing (AM) in the as-printed condition have been conducted and compared with wrought alloys. The AM samples were built by Selective Laser Melting (SLM) and Electron Beam Melting (EBM) in 0°, 45° and 90°—relative to horizontal direction. Similarly, the wrought samples were also cut and tested in the same directions relative to the plate rolling direction. The microstructures of the samples were significantly different on all samples. α′ martensite was observed on the SLM, acicular α on EBM and combination of both on the wrought alloy. EBM samples had higher surface roughness (Ra) compared with both SLM and wrought alloy. SLM samples were comparatively harder than wrought alloy and EBM. Tensile strength of the wrought alloy was higher in all directions except for 45°, where SLM samples showed higher strength than both EBM and wrought alloy on that direction. The ductility of the wrought alloy was consistently higher than both SLM and EBM indicated by clear necking feature on the wrought alloy samples. Dimples were observed on all fracture surfaces.  相似文献

To study the heat-treatment process of a semi-solid copper alloy, a thixotropic back-extruded tin–bronze shaft sleeve was heat-treated at 630 °C, 660 °C, 690 °C and 720 °C for 1 h, respectively. Microstructure changes and mechanical properties under different solution temperatures of shaft sleeve were characterized using a metallographic microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), hardness tester, and tensile tester. The results show that the tensile strength first increases and then decreases; the elongation decreases; and the Brinell hardness increases gradually with increasing solution temperature. When the solution treatment is at 690 °C, the tin–bronze shaft sleeve’s microstructure and comprehensive mechanical properties are the best. The shape factor is 0.75, the average grain size is 82.52 μm, the Brinell hardness is 122 HBW, the tensile strength is 437 MPa, and the elongation is 17.4%, which is 3.4 times higher than that before solution treatment.  相似文献

This research aims to characterize and examine the microstructure and mechanical properties of the newly developed M789 steel, applied in additive manufacturing. The data presented herein will bring about a broader understanding of the processing–microstructure–property–performance relationships in this material based on its chemical composition and heat treatment. Samples were printed using the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process and then the solution was annealed at 1000 °C for 1 h, followed by aging at 500 °C for soaking times of 3, 6 and 9 h. The AM components showed a relative density of 99.1%, which arose from processing with the following parameters: laser power of 200 W, laser speed of 340 mm/s, and hatch distance of 120 µm. Optical and electron microscopy observations revealed microstructural defects, typical for LPBF processes, like voids appearing between the melted pools of different sizes with round or creviced geometries, nonmelted powder particle formation inside such cavities, and small spherical porosity that was preferentially located between the molten pools. In addition, in heat-treated conditions, AM maraging steel has combined oxide inclusions of Ti and Al (TiO2:Al2O3) that reside along the grain boundaries and secondary porosities; these may act as preferential zones for crack initiation and may increase the brittleness of the AM steel under aged conditions. Consequently, the elongation of the AM alloy was low (<3%) for both annealed and aged solution conditions. The tensile strength of AM M789 increased from 968 MPa (solution annealed) to 1500–1600 MPa after the aging process due to precipitation within the intermetallic η-phase. A tensile strength and yield point of 1607 ± 26 and 1617 ± 45 MPa were obtained, respectively, after a full heat treatment at 500 °C/6 h. The results show that 3 h aging of solution annealed AM M789 steel achieves satisfactory material properties in industrial practice. Extending the aging time of printed parts to 6 h yields slightly improved properties but may not be worth the effort, while long-term aging (9 h) was shown to even reduce quality.  相似文献

Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is being increasingly used in the fabrication of complex-shaped structure parts with high precision. It is easy to form martensitic microstructure in Ti-6Al-4V alloy during manufacturing. Pre-heating the powder bed can enhance the thermal field produced by cyclic laser heating during LPBF, which can tailor the microstructure and further improve the mechanical properties. In the present study, all the Ti-6Al-4V alloy samples manufactured by LPBF at different powder bed temperatures exhibit a near-full densification state, with the densification ratio of above 99.4%. When the powder bed temperature is lower than 400 °C, the specimens are composed of a single α′ martensite. As the temperature elevates to higher than 400 °C, the α and β phase precipitate at the α′ martensite boundaries by the diffusion and redistribution of V element. In addition, the α/α′ lath coarsening is presented with the increasing powder bed temperature. The specimens manufactured at the temperature lower than 400 °C exhibit high strength but bad ductility. Moreover, the ultimate tensile strength and yield strength reduce slightly, whereas the ductility is improved dramatically with the increasing temperature, when it is higher than 400 °C.  相似文献

In order to explore the feasibility of underwater wet laser welding of the TC4 titanium alloy, research on the underwater laser self-fusion welding process was carried out. The weld structure and mechanical properties in both the air environment and the underwater environment were compared and analyzed. The results show that increasing the laser power and reducing the welding speed are beneficial to obtain a larger water depth threshold. Off-focus amount has little effect on water depth threshold; when the laser power is 3000 W and the welding speed is 5 mm/s, and the water depth exceeds 7 mm, a continuous weld cannot be formed. Compared with welding in the air, underwater welding has narrower weld width, smaller heat affected zone and finer crystal grains. The weld structure is mainly composed of α′ martensite and secondary acicular α′ phase, it is distributed in a net basket shape and the grain size at the top of the weld is finer. The hardness of the weld center is above 600 HV0.1, and the residual stress of the underwater welding weld is approximately symmetrically distributed. There is a large tensile stress along the welding direction at the weld, reaching 458 MPa. The larger residual tensile stress leads to the decrease of weld tensile strength, the tensile strength and elongation of the middle sample are only 52% and 77% of the base metal. Furthermore, the fracture mode is typical brittle fracture.  相似文献

The brazing of Titanium alloy to Aluminum alloy is of great significance for lightweight application, but the stable surface oxide film limits it. In our work, the surface oxide film was removed by the ion bombardment, the deposited Cu layer by magnetron sputtering was selected as an interlayer, and then the contact reactive brazing of TC4 alloy to Al7075 alloy was realized. The microstructure and joining properties of TC4/Al7075 joints obtained under different parameters were observed and tested, respectively. The results revealed that the intermetallic compounds in the brazing seam reduced with the increased brazing parameters, while the reaction layer adjacent to TC4 alloy continuously thickened. The shear strength improved first and then decreased with the changing of brazing parameters, and the maximum shear strength of ~201.45 ± 4.40 MPa was obtained at 600 °C for 30 min. The fracture path of TC4/Al7075 joints changed from brittle fracture to transgranular fracture, and the intergranular fracture occurred when the brazing temperature was higher than 600 °C and the holding time exceeded 30 min. Our work provides theoretical and technological analyses for brazing TC4/Al7075 and shows potential applications for large-area brazing of titanium/aluminum.  相似文献

In this study, the Ni-Cr-W superalloy GH3230 is used as the test material. According to the actual structure of the flame tube, a porous laminate structure specimen is designed. The structure consists of impact holes, overflow holes and pin fins. High-temperature tensile tests at 650 °C, 750 °C and 850 °C were carried out to study the high-temperature mechanical properties and fracture mechanism of the specimens of porous laminate structure, and the strain nephogram of the specimens were obtained by digital image correlation (DIC) technique. Due to the large number and dense arrangement of overflow holes, an obvious hole interference effect can be found from the strain nephogram. The stress concentration around the pore and the interference between the pores provide priority places and paths for the initiation and propagation of microcracks. The test found that the microcracks of the porous laminate structure first occurred around the hole, the overflow surface fractured first, after which the impact surface fractured. The strength of the alloy exhibits a significant temperature sensitivity to temperature. From 650 °C to 750 °C, the ultimate strength (σb) and yield strength (σ0.2) decrease slightly, but they decrease significantly at 850 °C. The microstructure of the fracture surface shows that all microcracks occur at the interface between the matrix and the carbides but that the fracture mode of the specimens gradually changes from intergranular fracture to transgranular fracture as the temperature increases. Due to the pinning effect of the intracrystalline diffusive solute atoms on the dislocations, the stress-strain curves of the high-temperature tensile tests at 650 °C and 750 °C showed zigzag characteristic fluctuations during the strengthening stage.  相似文献

Borated stainless steel (BSS) with a boron content of 1.86% was prepared by a powder metallurgy process incorporating atomization and hot isostatic pressing. After solution quenching at 900–1200 °C, the phase composition of the alloy was studied by quantitative X-ray diffraction phase analysis. The microstructure, fracture morphology, and distributions of boron, chromium, and iron in grains of the alloy were analyzed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy with secondary electron and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. After the coupons were heat treated at different temperatures ranging from 900 to 1200 °C, the strength and plasticity were tested, and the fracture surfaces were analyzed. Undergoing heat treatment at different temperatures, the phases of the alloy were austenite and Fe1.1Cr0.9B0.9 phase. Since the diffusion coefficients of Cr, Fe, and B varied at different temperatures, the distribution of elements in the alloy was not uniform. The alloy with good strength and plasticity can be obtained when the heat treatment temperature of alloy ranged from 1000 to 1150 °C while the tensile strength was about 800 MPa, with the elongation standing about 20%.  相似文献

Evaluation of the high-temperature tensile properties of Ti-6Al-4V manufactured by electron beam melting (EBM) and subjected to a low-temperature hot isostatic pressing (HIP) treatment (800 °C) was performed in this study. The high-temperature tensile properties of as-built and standard HIP-treated (920 °C) materials were studied for comparison. Metallurgical characterization of the as-built, HIP-treated materials was carried out to understand the effect of temperature on the microstructure. As the HIP treatments were performed below the β-transus temperature (995 °C for Ti-6Al-4V), no significant difference was observed in β grain width between the as-built and HIP-treated samples. The standard HIP-treated material measured about 1.4×–1.7× wider α laths than those in the modified HIP (low-temperature HIP)-treated and as-built samples. The standard HIP-treated material showed about a 10–14% lower yield strength than other tested materials. At 350 °C, the yield strength decreased to about 65% compared to the room-temperature strength for all tested specimens. An increase in ductility was observed at 150 °C compared to that at room temperature, but the values decreased between 150 and 350 °C because of the activation of different slip systems.  相似文献

TiB crystal whiskers (TiBw) can be synthesized in situ in Ti alloy matrix through powder metallurgy for the preparation of a new type of ceramic fiber-reinforced Ti matrix composite (TMC) TiBw/Ti-6Al-4V. In the TiBw/Ti-6Al-4V TMC, the reinforced phase/matrix interface is clean and has superior comprehensive mechanical properties, but its machinability is degraded. Hence, the bonding of reliable materials is important. To further optimize the TiBw/Ti-6Al-4V brazing technology and determine the relationship between the microstructure and tensile property of the brazed joint, results demonstrate that the elements of brazing filler metal are under sufficient and uniform diffusion, the microstructure is the typical Widmanstätten structure, and fine granular compounds in β phase are observed. The average tensile strength of the brazing specimen is 998 MPa under room temperature, which is 97.3% of that of the base metal. During the high-temperature (400 °C) tensile process, a fracture occurred at the base metal of the highest tensile test specimen with strength reaching 689 MPa, and the tensile fracture involved a combination of intergranular and transgranular modes at both room temperature and 400 °C. The fracture surface has dimples, secondary cracks are generated by the fracture of TiB whiskers, and large holes form when whole TiB whiskers are removed. The proposed algorithm provides evidence for promoting the application of TiBw/Ti-6Al-4V TMCs in practical production.  相似文献
