In this paper, a prediction model for the tensile behaviour of ultra-high performance fibre-reinforced concrete is proposed. It is based on integrating force contributions of all fibres crossing the crack plane. Piecewise linear models for the force contributions depending on fibre orientation and embedded length are fitted to force–slip curves obtained in single-fibre pull-out tests. Fibre characteristics in the crack are analysed in a micro-computed tomography image of a concrete sample. For more general predictions, a stochastic fibre model with a one-parametric orientation distribution is introduced. Simple estimators for the orientation parameter are presented, which only require fibre orientations in the crack plane. Our prediction method is calibrated to fit experimental tensile curves. 相似文献

A high-strength concrete and mortar subjected to compressive fatigue loading were comparatively investigated using experimental and computational techniques. The focus of the investigations was on the influence of the coarse aggregate in high-strength concrete. Accordingly, the fatigue behaviour was analysed experimentally using the macroscopic damage indicators strain, stiffness and acoustic emission hits. The results clearly show differences in the fatigue behaviour between the concrete and the mortar, especially at the lower stress level investigated. The basalt coarse aggregate here improves the fatigue behaviour of the concrete. Indication of a negative effect can be seen at the higher stress level. A finite element approach with a gradient-enhanced equivalent strain-based damage model combined with a fatigue model was used for the computational simulation of the fatigue behaviour. The damage model includes a differentiation between tension and compression. The fatigue model follows the assumption of the reduction in the material strength based on the accumulated gradient-enhanced equivalent strains. A random distribution of spherically shaped basalt aggregates following a given particle size distribution curve is used for the simulation of concrete. The comparison of the experimentally and computationally determined strain developments of the concrete and mortar shows very good agreement. 相似文献

An economically efficient yet safe design of concrete structures under high-cycle fatigue loading is a rather complex task. One of the main reasons is the insufficient understanding of the fatigue damage phenomenology of concrete. A promising hypothesis states that the evolution of fatigue damage in concrete at subcritical load levels is governed by a cumulative measure of shear sliding. To evaluate this hypothesis, an experimental program was developed which systematically investigates the fatigue behavior of high-strength concrete under mode II loading using newly adapted punch through shear tests (PTST). This paper presents the results of monotonic, cyclic, and fatigue shear tests and discusses the effect of shear-compression-interaction and load level with regard to displacement and damage evolution, fracture behavior, and fatigue life. Both, monotonic shear strength and fatigue life under mode II loading strongly depend on the concurrent confinement (compressive) stress in the ligament. However, it appears that the fatigue life is more sensitive to a variation of shear stress range than to a variation of compressive stress in the ligament. 相似文献

There is limited research reported on the effect of cyclic loading on cement-based repair materials as conducting such tests is time consuming. To overcome this issue, this study utilized a novel loading regime consisting of cycle groups with increasing stress amplitude to accelerate the test process. The Palmgren-Minder rule was used to estimate the fatigue life of repaired specimens. Specimens repaired with Mix M (cementitious repair mortar), which was estimated to have the highest 2-million-cycle fatigue endurance limit (77.4%), showed the longest fatigue life (95,991 cycles) during the cyclic loading test, the highest slant, and splitting bond strength among all repair mixes. The estimated two-million cycle fatigue endurance limit of Mix S (70.8%) was very similar to that was reported in literature (71%) using the traditional loading method. This study confirms the usefulness of Palmgren-Minder rule on estimating the fatigue life of repaired specimens. Additionally, the use of the novel loading regime showed the benefit of shortening the test process while producing results similar to those from using traditional loading methods. To improve the prediction accuracy, future research is required to modify the failure criteria to accommodate specimens that may not fail even when the average flexural strength is met. 相似文献

In the present study, the capability of high-strength short steel fibers to control the degradation in high-performance concrete was experimentally examined and numerically simulated. To this end, notched prismatic high-performance concrete specimens with (HPSFRC) and without (HPC) short steel fibers were subjected to static and cyclic tensile tests up to 100,000 cycles. The cyclic tests showed that the rate of strain increase was lower for HPSFRC specimens and that the strain stagnated after around 10,000 cycles, which was not the case with HPC specimens. The microscopic examinations showed that in HPSFRC, a larger number of microcracks developed, but they had a smaller total surface area than the microcracks in the HPC. To further investigate the influence of fibers on the behavior of HPSFRC in the cracked state, displacement-controlled crack opening tests, as well as numerical simulations thereof, were carried out. Experiments have shown, and the numerical simulations have confirmed, that the inclusion of short steel fibers did not significantly affect the ultimate strength; however, it notably increased the post-cracking ductility of the material. Finally, the unloading/reloading behavior was examined, and it was observed that the unloading stiffness was stable even for significant crack openings; however, the hysteresis loops due to unloading/reloading were very small. 相似文献

In this paper, based on the low-cycle loading tests of 11 steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) frame columns with built-in Q690 steel and 5 SRC frame columns with built-in Q235 steel, a systematic study on their seismic performance was carried out. The design parameters of the specimens were the steel strength, axial compression ratio, shear span ratio, steel content, and stirrup ratio. The failure modes, stress characteristics, hysteresis curve, skeleton curve, displacement ductility performance, energy dissipation capacity, and other main seismic indicators of the specimens with different parameters were analyzed, and the corresponding relationship between the displacement ductility performance of the specimen and the energy dissipation capacity and design parameters was obtained. The results show that the load–displacement curve of the specimens is relatively full, the descending section is gentle, and various seismic performance indicators are relatively excellent, reflecting good seismic performance. Equipped with high-strength steel SRC frame columns, they can better bear the horizontal load, the displacement ductility performance is improved, and the energy dissipation capacity is slightly lower than that of ordinary-strength steel SRC frame columns. The increase in the shear span ratio, steel content, and stirrup ratio of the specimens helps to improve their seismic performance, whereas an increase in the axial compression ratio makes their seismic performance worse. 相似文献

A novel damage model for concrete has been developed, which can reflect the complex hysteresis phenomena of concrete under cyclic loading, as well as other nonlinear behaviors such as stress softening, stiffness degradation, and irreversible deformation. The model cleverly transforms the complex multiaxial stress state into a uniaxial state by equivalent strain, with few computational parameters and simple mathematical expression. The uniaxial tensile and compressive stress–strain curves matching the actual characteristics are used to accommodate the high asymmetry of concrete in tension and compression, respectively. Meanwhile, an unloading path and a reloading path that can reflect the hysteresis effect under cyclic loading of concrete are established, in which the adopted expressions for the loading and unloading characteristic points do not depend on the shape of the curve. The proposed model has a concise form that can be easily implemented and also shows strong generality and flexibility. Finally, the reliability and correctness of the model are verified by comparing the numerical results with the three-point bending beam test, cyclic loading test, and a seismic damage simulation of the Koyna gravity dam. 相似文献

One of the biggest challenges in facilitating the installation of concrete is the development of fibre-reinforced concrete. Although nowadays fibre reinforced concrete is relatively common, it is still necessary to deepen in the study on its behaviour, especially regarding its fatigue behaviour. This paper proposes a new methodology to analyse the bending fatigue behaviour of notched test specimens. From these tests, it was possible to verify that, despite carrying out the tests with load control, the presence of fibres extends the fatigue life of the concrete after cracking. This effect is of great importance since during the extra lifetime with the cracked concrete, the damage to the concrete will be evident and the corresponding maintenance measures can be carried out. Regarding the analysis of the results, in addition to obtaining a traditional S-N curve, two new criteria have been applied, namely energy and notch growth. From these two new approaches, it was possible to determine critical energy values that can be used as predictive indicators of the collapse of the element. Moreover, from the notch growth analysis, it was possible to determine crack growth rate as a function of the stress conditions for the concrete and the specific geometry. From the comparison among the results obtained from the different tests, a limit cracking index of 0.05 mm can be defined. 相似文献

Understanding the bond behavior of steel rebar in concrete is important in order to determine the performance of a reinforced concrete structure. Although numerous studies have been carried out by many researchers to develop a robust model for numerical analysis, no consensus has been reached as the bond behavior depends on hysteresis. In this study, the bond behavior of a steel bar in concrete with pre-existing damage is investigated under low-level cyclic loading. Based on the experimental bond stress and slip curve, a numerical model for finite element analysis to simulate the effect of low-level cyclic loading is proposed. The results from the numerical analysis show good agreement with the experimental data, including accumulated damage on stiffness and strength throughout entire load cycles. 相似文献

This study investigates the interface bond strength and anchorage performance of steel bars within prefabricated concrete. Twenty-two specimens were designed and manufactured to study the interface bond behavior of deformed and plain steel bars under a larger cover thickness. Diameter of steel bars, strength grade of concrete, and anchorage length were considered influential factors. The finite element method (ABAQUS) was used for the validation of experimental results. The interface bond’s failure mechanism and the anchorage length in the prefabricated concrete under different concrete strength levels were explored and compared to national and international codes. A suitable value of the basic anchoring length for the prefabricated structure was recommended. The results show that the interface bond strength of prefabricated bridge members is directly proportional to the strength grade of the concrete, inversely proportional to the reinforcement diameter, and less related to anchorage length. The effect of the cover thickness of the surrounding concrete is negligible. Conversely, the bearing capacity of prefabricated bridge members depends on the strength of the concrete, the diameter of the steel bar, and the anchorage length. Furthermore, it is concluded that the mechanical bond strength accounts for 88% of the bond strength within prefabricated concrete. 相似文献

Structural steel and concrete are essential materials for the construction of social infrastructures. However, these materials undergo degradation over time, thereby causing steel corrosion. To address this problem, a fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) is used for reinforcement. In this study, tensile tests were performed to evaluate the material properties for the application of the FRP to cable bridge structures. These tests aimed to investigate various parameters to improve bond performance. Based on experiments with different parameters, sufficient bond performance could be achieved if the following conditions are met: mortar water ≤16%, regardless of the manufacturer; a depth of splitting and steel pipe length ratio ≥75%; upward/downward directions for the mortar injection; and the use of fiber-sheet reinforcement. In addition, the steel pipe used in the test (length of 410 mm and outer diameter of 42.7 mm) performed the best in terms of workability and cost effectiveness. By conducting more accurate tests to study the basic properties of materials, more accurate conditions to accomplish sufficient bond performance can likely be achieved. This will contribute to improved cost effectiveness and safety in the use of carbon FRP cables in cable bridge constructions. 相似文献

The fatigue process of concrete under compressive cyclic loading is still not completely explored. The corresponding damage processes within the material structure are especially not entirely investigated. The application of acoustic measurement methods enables a better insight into the processes of the fatigue in concrete. Normal strength concrete was investigated under compressive cyclic loading with regard to the fatigue process by using acoustic methods in combination with other nondestructive measurement methods. Acoustic emission and ultrasonic signal measurements were applied together with measurements of strains, elastic modulus, and static strength. It was possible to determine the anisotropic character of the fatigue damage caused by uniaxial loading based on the ultrasonic measurements. Furthermore, it was observed that the fatigue damage seems to consist not exclusively of load parallel oriented crack structures. Rather, crack structures perpendicular to the load as well as local compacting are likely components of the fatigue damage. Additionally, the ultrasonic velocity appears to be a good indicator for fatigue damage beside the elastic modulus. It can be concluded that acoustic methods allow an observation of the fatigue process in concrete and a better understanding, especially in combination with further measurement methods. 相似文献
