The present study evaluated the influence of 2% chlorhexidine and 2.5% sodium hypochlorite on the resin sealer/dentin interface bond strength of AH Plus/gutta-percha and Epiphany/Resilon. Seventy-two extracted bovine incisors were randomly distributed into 6 groups according to irrigant and sealers: G(S+AH)=physiologic saline solution+AH Plus/gutta-percha; G(S+Ep)=physiologic saline solution+Epiphany/Resilon; G(H+AH)=2.5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl)+AH Plus/gutta-percha; G(H+Ep)=2.5% NaOCl+Epiphany/Resilon; G(C+AH)=2% chlorhexidine (CHX)+AH Plus/gutta-percha; and G(C+Ep)=2% CHX+Epiphany/Resilon. After 7 days at 37°C and 100% humidity, the roots were cut transversally on the long axis of the tooth in 0.8 mm (±0.09)-thick slices; these slices were then subjected to the push-out test. Data were analyzed using a 2-way ANOVA and Tukey tests at 5% significance. The AH Plus/gutta-percha groups showed significantly higher bond strength than the Epiphany/Resilon groups, regardless of the irrigant used (p<0.001). Sodium hypochlorite adversely affected bond strength in the AH Plus group, whereas chlorhexidine did not influence the push-out bond strength of either sealer (p<0.05). Two percent chlorhexidine did not adversely affect the bond strength of the sealers, whereas 2.5% sodium hypochlorite solution damaged AH Plus/gutta-percha bond strength.  相似文献

This study evaluated comparatively the adhesion of Epiphany and AH Plus endodontic sealers to human root dentin treated with 1% NaOCl and 1% NaOCl+17% EDTA, using the push-out test. Sixty root cylinders obtained from maxillary canines had the canals prepared and were randomly assigned to 3 groups (n=20), according to root dentin treatment: GI - distilled water (control), GII - 1% NaOCl and GIII - 1% NaOCl+17% EDTA. Each group was divided into 2 subgroups (n=10) filled with either Epiphany or AH Plus. Bond strength push-out test data (kN) were obtained and analyzed statistically by ANOVA and Tukey's post-hoc test. There was statistically significant difference between sealers (AH Plus: 0.78 +/- 0.13; Epiphany: 0.61 +/- 0.19; p<0.01) and among root dentin treatments (distilled water: 0.58 +/- 0.19; 1% NaOCl: 0.71 +/- 0.12; 1% NaOCl+17% EDTA: 0.80 +/- 0.17; p<0.05). In conclusion, AH Plus sealer presented greater adhesion to dentin than Epiphany, regardless of the treatment of root canal walls.  相似文献

Objectives

To investigate the bond strength and seal ability produced by AH Plus/gutta-percha, EndoREZ and RealSeal systems to root canal dentin.

Material and Methods

Sixty extracted single-root human teeth, instrumented manually to size 40, were divided into three groups (n=20) according to the sealer used; G1: AH Plus, G2: EndoREZ, and G3: RealSeal sealers. After filling using the lateral condensation technique, each sealer group was randomly divided into two subgroups according to the tests applied (n=10 for µPush-out test and n=10 for fluid filtration test). A fluid filtration method was used for quantitative evaluation of apical leakage. Four 1-mm-thick slices (cervical and medium level) were obtained from each root sample and a µPush-out test was performed. Failure modes were examined under microscopy at 40x, and a one-way ANOVA was applied to analyze the permeability. Non-parametrical statistics for related (Friedman''s and Wilcoxon''s rank tests) or unrelated samples (Kruskal-Wallis'' and Mann-Whitney''s tests) allowed for comparisons of µPush-out strength values among materials at the different levels. Statistical significance was accepted for p values <.05.

Results

There are no significant differences among fluid filtration of the three sealers. The sealer/core material does not significantly influence the µPush-out bond strength values (F=2.49; p=0.10), although statistically significant differences were detected with regard to root level (Chi2=23.93; p<0.001). AH Plus and RealSeal obtained higher bond strength to intraradicular dentin in the medium root slices.

Conclusions

There are no significant differences between the permeability and global µPush-out bond strength to root canal dentin achieved by AH Plus/gutta-percha, EndoREZ and RealSeal systems.  相似文献

Strengthening of Resilon-filled roots via an adhesive interface should be reflected by improvement in the interfacial strength and dislocation resistance between the root fillings and intraradicular dentin. This study compared the interfacial strengths of Resilon/Epiphany and gutta-percha/AH Plus using a thin-slice push-out test design. Failure modes of root slices after push-out testing were examined with environmental scanning electron microscopy. The gutta-percha group exhibited significantly higher interfacial strength than the Resilon group, when premature failures that occurred in Resilon root slices were included in the statistical analysis. The gutta-percha root slices failed exclusively along the gutta-percha/sealer interface. The Resilon root slices failed predominantly along the sealer/dentin interface with recognizable, fractured resin tags. Detachment of the Resilon from the Epiphany sealer was also surprisingly observed in some specimens. The similarly low interfacial strengths achieved with both types of root filling challenges the concept of strengthening root-filled teeth with the new endodontic material.  相似文献

The dislocation resistance of root fillings created with MetaSEAL, a self-adhesive 4-META-containing methacrylate resin-based sealer, was evaluated. Forty-six incisors were cleaned and shaped using NaOCl and EDTA as irrigants. They were filled with gutta-percha/MetaSEAL or gutta-percha/AH Plus sealer using either a single-cone technique or warm vertical compaction (n = 10). The roots were sectioned at the coronal and middle thirds to obtain thin slices, which were subjected to compressive loading to displace the set sealer/filling toward the coronal side of the slice. The remaining six teeth were filled with gutta-percha/MetaSEAL and cryofractured for scanning electron microscopic examination. The push-out strength of AH Plus was significantly higher than MetaSEAL irrespective of filling techniques (p < 0.05). A minimal hybrid layer was seen in radicular dentin, and resin tags were inconsistently identified from canal walls in the MetaSEAL-filled canals. The lower dislocation resistance in MetaSEAL-filled canals challenges the use of a self-adhesive bonding mechanism to create continuous bonds inside root canals.  相似文献

Objectives:

to compare the apical sealing ability of four root canal sealers. Materials and methods: forty extracted human maxillary canines were instrumented 1 mm short of the anatomical apex and randomly assigned to four groups (n=10), according to the root canal sealer used for obturation: Endofill, AH Plus, EndoREZ and Epiphany. Root canals were obturated with guttapercha points, except for the Epiphany group, in which resin points (Resilon) were used. The teeth were immersed in India ink for seven days and clarified using methyl salicylate. The extent of apical dye penetration was measured with a measuroscope in all aspects of the canal.

Results:

AH Plus (0.02 mm ± 0.07), Epiphany (0.00 mm ± 0.00) and EndoREZ (0.32 mm ± 0.62) did not differ statistically to each other (p>0.01). EndoFill presented the highest dye penetration mean (0.83 mm ± 0.73) and was statistically different from the other sealers (p<0.01).

Conclusions:

the resin-based root canal sealers presented lesser apical microleakage than the zinc oxide and eugenol based sealer. No statistical differences were observed among resin based sealers.  相似文献

Introduction

The aim of this study was to evaluate whether or not different final irrigation activation techniques affect the bond strength of an epoxy resin–based endodontic sealer (AH Plus; Dentsply DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany) to the root canal walls of different root thirds.

Methods

Eighty single-rooted human mandibular premolars were prepared by using the ProTaper system (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) to size F4, and a final irrigation regimen using 3% sodium hypochlorite and 17% EDTA was performed. The specimens were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 20) according to the final irrigation activation technique used as follows: no activation (control), manual dynamic activation (MDA), CanalBrush (Coltene Whaledent, Altststten, Switzerland) activation, and ultrasonic activation. Five specimens from each group were prepared for scanning electron microscopic observation to assess the smear layer removal after the final irrigation procedures. All remaining roots were then obturated with gutta-percha and AH Plus sealer. A push-out test was used to measure the bond strength between the root canal dentin and AH Plus sealer. The data obtained from the push-out test were analyzed using 2-way analysis of variance and Tukey post hoc tests.

Results

The bond strength values mostly decreased in the coronoapical direction (P < .001). In the coronal and middle thirds, ultrasonic activiation showed a higher bond strength than other groups (P < .05). In the apical third, MDA displayed the highest bond strength to root dentin (P < .05). The majority of specimens exhibited cohesive failures.

Conclusions

The bond strength of AH Plus sealer to root canal dentin may improve with ultrasonic activation in the coronal and middle thirds and MDA in the apical third.  相似文献

AIM: To evaluate the push-out bond strength of the dentine-sealer interface with and without main cone for three resin sealers. METHODOLOGY: Thirty extracted maxillary premolar teeth with two separate canals were prepared using 0.04 taper Profile instruments to size 35-45. Teeth were divided into three groups for filling using AH Plus, EndoREZ or Resilon sealers. In each tooth, one canal was filled with a matching single-cone technique, and other was filled with sealer alone. A 1 mm slice of mid-root dentine was prepared for the push-out test. Failure modes after push-out were examined under microscopy and field emission-scanning electron microscopy. Data were analysed using two-way anova and paired t-tests, with significance set at P < 0.05. RESULTS: Overall, the epoxy resin-based sealer provided the highest push-out bond strengths. Push-out bond strengths were significantly higher (P < 0.001) when canals were filled with sealer alone than those filled with main cone and sealer (AH Plus 6.6 and 2.0 MPa, respectively; Resilon 3.4 and 0.4 MPa; EndoREZ 0.9 and 0.4 MPa). Sealers appeared to behave differently as thin films in association with a main cone, compared with bulk material. They failed in cohesive mode within the thin film, leaving a layer of sealer on the canal surface. Bulk sealer showed predominantly adhesive failure at the dentine-sealer interface, with a clean dentine wall and with resin tags either partially pulled out or sheared off at the interface. CONCLUSION: Push-out bond strengths of resin sealers were much lower when the sealer was present as a thin layer.  相似文献

AIM: The adhesion of five root-canal sealers to dentine and gutta-percha was studied. The effects of various dentine pretreatments on adhesion were also investigated. METHODOLOGY: Root dentine cylinders, 4 mm in diameter, were prepared from human teeth. The dentine surfaces were conditioned with either 37% H(3)PO(4) for 30 s, 25% citric acid for 30 s, 17% EDTA for 5 min or a rinse with 10 mL distilled water (control). Gutta-percha cylinders, 4 mm in diameter, were prepared and their end surfaces polished flat. The dentine and gutta-percha surfaces were coated with freshly mixed sealer: Grossman's sealer (GS), Apexit (AP), Ketac-Endo (KE), AH Plus (AH), RoekoSeal Automix (RS) or RoekoSeal Automix with an experimental primer (RP). The surfaces were pressed together and the sealers allowed to set. The test specimens were subjected to a tensile force in a universal testing machine. RESULTS: Mean tensile bond strengths (MPa +/- SD) ranged from 0.07 +/- 0.01 (AP) to 1.19 +/- 0.47 (AH). Pretreatment with EDTA showed no effect or produced weaker bonds than controls. Phosphoric and citric acid pretreatments increased adhesion of GS. A primer used with RoekoSeal significantly enhanced its adhesion to untreated dentine. Inspection of fractured surfaces indicated failure of adhesion to dentine for GS and RS and to gutta-percha for KE and RP. The failure appeared to be mainly cohesive within the sealer for AH and AP. CONCLUSIONS: Removal of the smear layer may impair sealer adhesion to dentine. Different sealer types require different dentine pretreatments for optimal adhesion.  相似文献

Coronal leakage is an important factor affecting the outcome of endodontic therapy. This study evaluated the microbial leakage (ML) and the apical inflammatory response (AIR) in dog’s teeth after root canal filling with three endodontic sealers, post preparation and exposure to the oral environment, testing the hypothesis that there is a positive correlation between these two histological parameters (ML and AIR). Sixty-four root canals of 8 mongrel dogs were cleaned, shaped and randomly distributed into groups according to the sealer to be used: Sealer 26 (n=18); AH Plus (n=18); RoekoSeal (n=19); no sealer – control group (n=9). Root canals were filled by the lateral condensation technique. Post space preparation left 4 mm of filling material in the apical root third, and specimens were exposed to the oral environment for 90 days. The dogs were killed and jaw blocks were histologically processed using Brown & Brenn and HE staining techniques. ML and AIR were scored from 1 to 4. Results were analyzed statistically using ANOVA, Duncan’s post-hoc test and Spearman’s correlation. ML and AIR score means were: Sealer 26 - 2.44±0.98 and 2.50±0.70; AH Plus - 2.50±0.78 and 2.22±0.54; RoekoSeal - 1.84±0.95 and 2.63±0.83; Control - 2.56±1.23 and 3.11±0.60. Statistically significant differences in AIR scores were found between the AH Plus and control groups (p<0.05). Although RoekoSeal had the lowest ML means, and AH Plus, the lowest AIR means after 90-day exposure to the oral environment, no statistically significant differences were found between the three sealers under study, and no correlation was found between ML and AIR.  相似文献

AIM: To assess the bond strength of the new resin-based Epiphany-Resilon root canal filling system, and to compare this with bond strengths of different pairings of AH Plus, gutta-percha, Epiphany and Resilon. METHODOLOGY: A total of 65 extracted human single-rooted teeth were used. All teeth were instrumented using a set of ProTaper rotary instruments. Irrigation was performed with 15 mL of 1.25% NaOCl between each instrument and the smear layer was removed during and after instrumentation with 5 mL of 17% EDTA. The canal spaces were filled with different combinations of core and sealer using lateral condensation, as follows: group 1, AH Plus + gutta-percha; group 2, AH Plus + Resilon; group 3, Epiphany + Resilon; group 4, Epiphany + gutta-percha; group 5 (control), gutta-percha only. Cylinders of root dentine 1.13 (0.06)-mm long were prepared from the coronal sections of the 65 teeth. The test specimens were subjected to the push-out test method. After adhesion testing, the remaining sections were examined under a stereomicroscope at x 25 magnification to determine the nature of bond failure. The values of bond strength were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the post hoc Tukey's test, with significance set at P < 0.05. RESULTS: The respective mean push-out test values for groups 1-5 were: 2.000 +/- 0.369, 1.380 +/- 0.154, 1.706 +/- 0.340, 2.857 +/- 0.523 and 0.078 +/- 0.027 MPa. Significant difference (P < 0.001) occurred between the groups. Multiple paired comparisons (Tukey's test) revealed that group 4 (Epiphany + gutta-percha) had significantly (P < 0.001) greater bonding strength than all the other groups; group 1 (AH Plus + gutta-percha) had significantly (P < 0.05) greater bonding strength than group 2 (AH Plus + Resilon); and group 5 (control) had significantly (P < 0.05) lower bonding strength than all the other groups. Inspection of the surfaces revealed the bond failure to be mainly adhesive to dentine for all groups. CONCLUSIONS: The Epiphany-Resilon combination (group 3) was not superior to that of the AH Plus-gutta percha combination (group 1).  相似文献

Adhesion of endodontic sealers to dentin and gutta-percha offers clues into their interaction with the wall of the root canal and the filling material. In this in vitro study, four classes of endodontic sealers (Kerr, a ZOE-based sealer; Sealapex, a calcium hydroxide-based sealer; AH 26, an epoxy resin-based system; and Ketac-Endo, a glass-ionomer based sealer) were compared for their ability to bond to dentin or gutta-percha. Flat coronal dentin or gutta-percha surfaces were created by using a diamond-impregnated saw blade. Aluminum cylinders (ca. 5-mm diameter) were stabilized on the substrates with small amounts of wax and then filled with one of the sealers. After setting in 100% humidity for 24 h, their tensile bond strengths were measured. Controls were the unfilled cylinders stabilized with wax. The bond strengths and modes of failure were measured. The results were statistically analyzed by using a two-way ANOVA (materials versus substrates) and Student-Newman-Keuls test at alpha = 0.05. The results indicated that sealant bond strengths to dentin (from lowest to highest mean +/- SD, n = 10) were: Kerr 0.13 +/- 0.02; Sealapex 0.30 +/- 0.08; Ketac-Endo 0.80 +/- 0.24; AH 26 2.06 +/- 0.53 MPa. The latter two were significantly different (p < 0.05) from the first two sealers and from themselves. The sealant bond strength to gutta-percha (from lowest to highest mean +/- SD, n = 10) were: Ketac-Endo 0.19 +/- 0.01; Sealapex 0.22 +/- 0.01; Kerr 1.07 +/- 0.19; AH 26 2.93 +/- 0.29 MPa. Abstract

Objective. To evaluate the sealing ability and bond strength of AH Plus sealer associated with the hybridization protocol of radicular dentin with Scotchbond Multi Purpose (SB). Materials and methods. Ninety palatal roots of maxillary molars were selected and divided into three groups (n = 30) according to filling protocol (G1, AH Plus/Resilon; G2, SB/AH Plus/Resilon; and G3, AH Plus/Gutta-Percha). In groups in which AH Plus + resin cones were used, dentin was hybridized before applying sealing material. For the bond strength test, 60 roots of bovine teeth were selected. Six holes were made in each root, two in the cervical, middle and apical third of the root. The roles were filled with AH Plus sealer with or without an adhesive system and submitted to push out test and the fracture mode was examined using a stereomicroscope (×32). Results. Statistical analysis showed that ScotchBond Multi Purpose (SB) + Resilon cone + AH Plus group promoted higher sealing ability than the gutta-percha + AH Plus group (p < 0.05). Bond strength was lower with SB application than without it (p < 0.05). A reverse correlation was found between bond strength and sealing ability. The fracture mode methodology revealed 22.77% of adhesive, 11.67% of cohesive and 65.55% of mixture fractures for SBMP/AH Plus protocol, whereas the AH Plus protocol indicated 86.11% of cohesive and 13.89% of mixed fractures. Conclusion. It was concluded that the use of the adhesive system Scotchbond Multi Purpose improved coronal sealing ability of AH Plus, but bond strength of sealer was reduced when adhesive was applied.  相似文献

Introduction

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of calcium hydroxide (CH) and triple (TAP) and double (DAP) antibiotic pastes on the bond strength of an epoxy resin–based sealer (AH Plus Jet; Dentsply DeTrey, Konstanz, Germany) to the root canal dentin.

Methods

Sixty-four single-rooted human mandibular premolars were decoronated and prepared using the rotary system to size 40. The specimens were randomly divided into a control group (without intracanal dressing) and 3 experimental groups that received an intracanal dressing with either CH, DAP, or TAP (n = 16). The intracanal dressing was removed by rinsing with 10 mL 17% EDTA followed by 10 mL 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. The root canals were then obturated with gutta-percha and AH Plus Jet sealer. A push-out test was used to measure the bond strength between the root canal dentin and the sealer. The data were analyzed using 2-way analysis of variance and Tukey post hoc tests to detect the effect of the independent variables (intracanal medicaments and root canal thirds) and their interactions on the push-out bond strength of the root canal filling material to the root dentin (P = .05).

Results

The push-out bond strength values were significantly affected by the intracanal medicaments (P < .001) but not by the root canal thirds (P > .05). In the middle and apical third, the bond strength of the TAP group was higher than those of the CH and DAP groups (P < .05).

Conclusions

The DAP and CH did not affect the bond strength of the epoxy resin–based sealer. Additionally, the TAP improved the bond strength of the epoxy resin–based sealer in the middle and apical thirds.  相似文献

In this study, the aim was to assess the in vitro apical microleakage of a resin-based sealer used with two different adhesives. Thirty nine freshly extracted maxillary incisors were used. The teeth were decoronated at the cemento-enamel junction with a water-cooled fissure bur. Chemo-mechanical debridement of the root canals was accomplished with the step-back technique. The smear layer was removed by 19% ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid (EDTA). The roots were then divided into three experimental groups of thirteen teeth in each. Specimens in group 1 were filled with gutta-percha, AH Plus sealer, and water-based adhesive system (Syntac Single Component). Group 2 specimens were filled with gutta-percha, AH Plus sealer, and acetone-based dentin adhesive (Prime & Bond NT ). Specimens of group 3 were filled with only gutta-percha and AH Plus sealer (no adhesive was applied). The teeth were immersed into 2% methylene blue solution. Apical sealing qualities were assessed by measuring the linear dye penetration with a stereomicroscope. Dentin tubule penetration was observed under scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results showed no statistically significant difference between the materials used, however, the leakage in group 2 was less than group 1 and 3.  相似文献

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of BC HiFlow, a new calcium silicate-based endodontic sealer, compared with a resin epoxy-based sealer after 2 different times of cementation on the pull-out bond strength of glass-fiber–reinforced composite posts cemented with a self-adhesive resin cement (RelyX Unicem).MethodologySixty human maxillary central incisors were decoronated, prepared and obturated with gutta-percha and sealer. Roots were distributed into 5 groups according to the sealer and time of post cementation: (1) AH Plus sealer with immediate post fixation, (2) BC HiFlow with immediate post fixation, (3) AH Plus and post fixation after 7 days, (4) BC HiFlow and post fixation after 7 days, and (5) fiber post fixation in canals obturated with gutta-percha only (no sealer). After 1 week of post cementation, the pull-out test was performed and the failure mode was examined under a digital microscope. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Tukey's post hoc and t tests (p < .05).ResultsWith immediate post cementation, AH Plus group showed significantly higher pull-out retentive strength than the BC HiFlow and control groups (p = .009 and p < .001, respectively). There was no significant difference between the groups when the posts were cemented 7 days after obturation (p = .726). The time of post cementation had a significant influence on the canals obturated with AH Plus (p = .003). The time did not significantly affect the canals obturated with BC HiFlow (p = .289). The prominent type of failure was mixed mode in all groups.ConclusionBC HiFlow sealer did not affect the pull-out bond strength of glass-fiber–reinforced composite posts cemented with a self-adhesive resin cement immediately after or 7 days after obturation. For immediate post cementation, AH Plus increased the pull-out bond in comparison to BC HiFlow.  相似文献

The effect of Er:YAG laser application and EDTAC on the adhesion of epoxy resin-based endodontic sealers to human dentin was evaluated in vitro. A total of 99 extracted human maxillary molars with their crowns worn flat were used. The teeth were divided into 3 groups: group 1, the dentin surface received no treatment; group 2, EDTAC was applied to the dentin surface for 5 min; group 3, the dentin surface received Er:YAG laser application (2.25 W potency; 11 mm focal distance; 4 Hz frequency; 200 mJ energy; 62 J total energy; 313 mean impulse). Three teeth from each group were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy for changes in dentin surface. The epoxy resin root canal sealers used were: AH Plus, Topseal, Sealer 26, AH 26, and Sealer Plus. The zinc oxide eugenol-based sealer Fillcanal was used as control. Adhesion was measured with a Universal testing machine. The results showed a statistically significant difference at the level of 1% among the dentin treatments. The dentin treated with Er:YAG laser showed greater adhesion with the sealers than dentin treated with EDTAC which was greater than dentin that received no treatment. The Tukey test showed the formation of 5 groups in decreasing order of adhesion: AH Plus, Topseal and Sealer 26, AH 26, Sealer Plus, and Fillcanal (Grossman cement).  相似文献

IntroductionThe aim of this in vitro study was to assess and compare the effect of photoactivated disinfection (PAD) on the bond strength of root canal sealers to human root canal dentin using the push-out test.MethodsFifteen extracted human mandibular premolar teeth with single and straight roots were used. After the clinical crowns were removed from the cementoenamel junction, root canals were prepared with the ProTaper (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) rotary system to the size of the F3 file. The smear layer of the roots was removed using 17% EDTA followed by 5.25% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and distillate water. The roots were then randomly divided into 3 groups (n = 5) according to the final irrigation regimen. In group 1, PAD (FotoSan; CMS Dental, Copenhagen, Denmark) was applied to the root canals and light cured for 20 seconds. Group 2 was finally irrigated with a 2% solution of chlorhexidine gluconate, and group 3 served as the control group (NaOCl + EDTA). All the canals were then obturated with the lateral condensation technique using gutta-percha and AH Plus sealer (Dentsply Maillefer) sealer. One-millimeter-thick horizontal sections from the coronal and midthirds of each root (n: 5 × 4 = 20) were sliced for the push-out bond strength measurement. The data were converted to megapascals and statistically analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance and the post hoc Tukey test.ResultsThere was no significant difference among the bond strength of PAD, chlorhexidine gluconate, and NaOCl (P > .05).ConclusionsWe conclude that PAD does not adversely affect the bond strength of the AH Plus sealer to root canal dentin and that it can be used for the final disinfection of root canals.  相似文献

We tested the hypothesis that AH Plus and Roeko Seal Automix (RSA) sealers alone are no less effective in preventing coronal microleakage than gutta-percha compacted with sealer. Freshly prepared sheep incisor root canals were obturated with warm gutta-percha alone, AHPlus or RSA alone, or warm gutta-percha with AH Plus or RSA (n = 20 each group). Coronal leakage was assessed under vacuum conditions with Indian ink and tooth clearing. Sealer-only backfills with AH Plus and RSA yielded significantly more dye-free canals than backfills of gutta-percha alone or with sealer (p < 0.001). Warm gutta-percha with or without sealer kept no more canals sealer free than the positive control. Mean dye penetration was 0.92% of canal length for AH Plus and RSA backfills, 27.42% for gutta-percha only backfills, 26.47% for gutta-percha with RSA and 13.92% for gutta-percha with AH Plus. Sealer only backfills allowed significantly less leakage than those including warm gutta-percha (p < 0.001). Sealer-only backfills may be a viable alternative to traditional gutta-percha and sealer compaction methods.  相似文献

IntroductionThe present study was designed to investigate the bond strength produced by Epiphany and Epiphany SE to root canal dentin.MethodsA sample of 36 human upper canines was prepared and assigned to experimental groups (n = 12), designated as group 1, Resilon/Epiphany; group 2, Resilon/Epiphany SE; and group 3, AH Plus/gutta-percha. After the filling procedures, each tooth was prepared for push-out assessment by using root slices of 1-mm thickness. Loading was performed on a universal testing machine at a speed of 0.5 mm/min. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey test for multiple comparisons were used to compare the results among the experimental groups.ResultsAH Plus/gutta-percha root fillings showed significantly higher push-out bond strength than both Resilon/Epiphany and Resilon/Epiphany SE (P < .05). There was no significant difference between Epiphany/Resilon and Epiphany SE/Resilon (P > .05).ConclusionsUnder the present in vitro conditions, the adhesiveness quality to root dentin promoted by both Epiphany sealers is compromised even when teeth with simple anatomic features were obturated under well-monitored laboratory conditions.  相似文献
