Consultation in pediatric nursing

Consultation in nursing is not only a question of technique and method. For nursing personnel to qualify as consultants they are compelled to confront its goals and its significance. Moreover, the part of the nurses within consultation must be clarified and the question of the particularities of consultation in nursing should be dealt with. The following article covers this subject with particular attention to the area of Pediatric Nursing. Long ago, job requirements for nursing staff in this area have involved looking not only after the sick child but after its entire family, too. Consultation in nursing is considered an independent plan designed to support the family in coping both with wellness and sickness and the latter's consequences. The adequate education and training will help nursing staff to perform these duties.     

Interpreter services in pediatric nursing

A critical part of every encounter between a pediatric nurse and a patient is obtaining accurate patient information. Unique obstacles are encountered when patients and their families have little or no understanding of the English language. Federal and state laws require health care systems that receive governmental funds to provide full language access to services. Both legal and ethical issues can arise when caring for non-English-speaking patients. Often, obtaining accurate patient information and a fully informed consent cannot be done without the use of an interpreter. The interpreter informs the family of all the risks and benefits of a specific avenue of care. When inappropriate interpreter services are used, such as when children in the family or other family members act as interpreters, concerns about accuracy, confidentiality, cultural congruency, and other issues may arise. The purpose of this article is to: (a) explore principles related to the use of medical interpreters, (b) examine different models of interpreter services, and (c) identify available resources to assist providers in accessing interpreter services (e.g., books, online resources, articles, and videos). The case study format will be used to illustrate key points.     

儿内科护理记录电子版的构建与应用研究

目的探讨儿内科护理记录电子版在临床应用的效果。方法利用医院计算机信息系统,根据儿科特点设计表格和文字书写相结合的儿内科护理记录电子版,2011年10—12月间,每月随机抽取上海交通大学附属第六人民医院儿内科护理病历各50份,连续3个月,两种不同书写记录各150份,同期比较电子版与纸质版护理记录单的书写时间与质量。结果护理记录电子版的书写时间明显少于纸质版护理记录单,护理文件书写质量明显高于纸质版护理记录单,两组比较,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论使用儿内科护理记录电子版操作简单、格式规范、时效性强、可在线保存并随时查阅,减少护士书写时间;同时保证护理文件书写质量,实现信息化管理。     

循证护理在儿科临床护理教学查房中的应用

目的探讨将循证护理引入临床护理教学查房中的效果。方法按循证护理实践方法进行临床护理教学查房。结果92.8%以上的学生和老师认为,将循证护理运用于临床护理教学查房中,可增强学生循证护理实践意识、主动参与能力、获取信息能力、评判性思维能力和启发学生护理科研意识。结论将循证护理引入临床护理教学查房中,开拓了新的教学查房形式,培养了学生的综合能力。     

Using videorecordings in pediatric nursing practice

This article explores the innovative uses of videorecordings in pediatric nursing practice. Social learning theory and primary nursing concepts provide the conceptual orientation. Creative uses of videorecordings include: enhanced family education; continuity of care through caregiver modeling and staff communication; audiovisual progress recording; and potential behavioral development in the pediatric client. Suggestions regarding technical aspects of videorecordings in the clinical area may facilitate videorecording application.
