Nevus sebaceus associated with major ophthalmologic abnormalities

Nevus sebaceus rarely occurs as part of a syndrome consisting of central nervous system and ophthalmologic abnormalities. We describe a case of nevus sebaceus associated with an epibulbar complex choristoma and colobomas of the optic disc and peripapillary choroid, and review the dermatologic, ophthalmologic, and neurologic literature on the nevus sebaceus syndrome. When associated with other developmental abnormalities, nevus sebaceus and epidermal nevus have erroneously been considered to be a single entity. In this article, we delineate and emphasize the ophthalmologic abnormalities associated with the nevus sebaceus syndrome.     

The prognosis of patients with lymphomatoid papulosis associated with malignant lymphomas

Lymphomatoid papulosis (LyP) is a disorder which generally runs a benign course, but can sometimes be associated with a malignant lymphoma. Information about the prognosis of these LyP-associated lymphomas is, however, fragmentary. In this study, the clinical data of 50 LyP-associated malignant lymphomas, including 11 patients of our own group and 39 reported in the literature, are evaluated. Three main groups of LyP-associated malignant lymphomas could be distinguished: cases associated with mycosis fungoides (19/50 cases). Hodgkin's disease (12/50 cases) and (CD30+) large-cell lymphomas (16/50). The results of this study demonstrate that patients with mycosis fungoides. Hodgkin's disease, and (CD30+) large-cell lymphomas limited to the skin have a favourable prognosis. However, the prognosis of patients developing a systemic (CD30+) large-cell lymphoma proved generally poor. The results of this study also indicate that the risk of an individual LyP patient developing systemic lymphoma is less than 5%.     

Nevus of ota associated with nevus of Ito

Nevus of Ota is a dermal melanocytic nevus seen predominantly in females. It is uncommon in India. Its association with nevus of Ito, another dermal melanocytic nevus, is extremely rare. We report this rare association in a male patient, which is another interesting feature of the present case.

报告1例皮脂腺痣并发皮脂腺瘤.患儿男,13岁.头顶部一椭圆形淡黄色疣状新生物13年.皮肤科检查:头顶部见一约2cm×3cm椭圆形淡黄色斑块,边界清楚,表面呈轻度疣状.皮损组织病理检查:表皮棘层增生肥厚,轻度乳头瘤样增生,真皮浅中部见增生的皮脂腺及不成熟的毛囊结构,并可见异位大汗腺,真皮中部还可见多个大小不等肿瘤团块,肿瘤团块由基底样细胞和少许成熟的皮脂腺细胞组成,但未形成皮脂腺小叶样结构,团块周边细胞未见栅状排列及收缩间隙.诊断为皮脂腺痣并发皮脂腺瘤.     

Incisional procedures and prognosis in malignant melanoma

A total of seventy-six patients with cutaneous malignant melanoma were analysed with relation to the prognostic influence of incisional biopsies. Of these, sixty-two underwent primary radical surgery, whereas fourteen patients had an incisional procedure prior to definitive treatment. Multivariate analysis revealed that survival was markedly reduced after incisional procedures. Other important prognostic factors were ulceration, age and sex. We believe that punch or incisional biopsies taken to substantiate the diagnosis of melanoma should be avoided.     

Subungual Congenital Nevus with Recurrent Nevus Phenomenon

Melanonychia is uncommon. We report the first case of histopathologic recurrence of a completely excised subungual congenital nevus that presented as congenital melanonychia     

Development of Halo Nevus Around Nevus Spilus as a Central Nevus,and the Concurrent Vitiligo

Halo nevus is a benign melanocytic nevus that is surrounded by a hypopigmented zone. The most frequent association with halo nevus is vitiligo, and this also appears in nearby regions, as well as at other remote sites. Although the mechanism for developing the depigmentation around nevus spilus is uncertain an immunologic process may be responsible for the finding of inflammatory infiltrates of the upper dermis in the depigmented lesions. We report here on a 13-year-old boy who showed a depigmented zone around a nevus spilus on the right side of his neck with simultaneous vitiligo lesions on the face.     

Nevus anemicus

The results of three cases of nevus anemicus studied by mechanical, histologic, pharmacologic, and electron microscopic technics are presented. The proposed pathogenesis and the differential diagnosis of this congenital disorder are discussed.     

Woolly Hair Nevus with an Ipsilateral Associated Epidermal Nevus and Additional Findings of a White Sponge Nevus

Abstract:  We report a case of a 16-year-old male with a woolly hair nevus, an associated ipsilateral epidermal nevus who also had a white plaque on his tongue, clinically diagnosed as a white sponge nevus. The concurrent findings of a white sponge nevus, a woolly hair nevus, and an ipsilateral epidermal nevus, to our knowledge, have not been previously reported.     

Nevus on nevus. Apropos of 7 case reports, 3 of them associated with other dysplasias, and 1 with an invasive malignant melanoma

There is some doubt as to whether naevus pilus is identical with naevus-on-naevus or lentiginous naevus en mottes. The former could be classified together with Becker's naevus among the clinically progressive types of epidermal naevi, whereas the latter could be a truly melanocytic naevus of special expression which, for some authors, might become malignant. Seven cases of naevus-on-naevus with different sizes and locations are reported. In 3 cases the naevus was associated with other pathologies: pigmented sclerotic and kyphoscoliosis, verrucoid epidermal naevus, tuberous angioma and underlying muscular hypertrophy. In every case the diagnosis was confirmed by histological examination. An invasive malignant melanoma on superficial extensive melanoma coexisted with a retiform intradermal naevus pilosus. The hypothesis of complex neuro-ectodermic dysplasia and the histogenesis of malignant melanoma developed upon a naevus-on-naevus are discussed.

无色素痣是一种先天性、非家族性皮肤色素减退性疾病，病因不明。通常表现为先天性、边缘不规则的色素减退斑。白斑相对位置和分布持续终生不变。临床分为孤立型、节段型和系统型3型。组织病理学检查表明，无色素痣皮损内黑素细胞数量正常或减少，但黑素的合成及黑素小体向角质形成细胞内的迁移减少。超微结构观察发现角质形成细胞内有薄膜包绕的聚集的黑素小体。自体表皮移植是治疗无色素痣的一种有效方法。     

Acrosyringeal Nevus

This paper describes a solitary lesion of the hand thought to represent a variant of eccrine nevus composed solely of acrosyringeal elements.     

Divided Nevus Spilus and Divided Form of Spotted Grouped Pigmented Nevus

Two cases of divided nevus spilus and a case of divided form of spotted grouped pigmented nevus are reported. In this group, flat melanotic macules around the eyes were located on the opposite parts of the upper and lower eyelids. The macules were divided by the palpebral fissure when the lids were open, and the two halves of the lesions formed a unit when the lids were closed. Case presentation as such may be intriguing in the clarification of the developmental relation between aberrantly differentiated melanin synthesizing cells and normal melanocytes.     

Nevus sebaceus

A 35-year-old woman presented with cosmetically disturbing facial plaques, which had been present since birth and were consistent with nevus sebaceus on histopathologic examination. Nevus sebaceus is a congenital, hairless plaque, which is found most commonly on the scalp and face and typically becomes thicker and more verrucous in appearance as the patient enters adulthood. There is an association with benign and malignant neoplasms. Typically, these lesions are either removed surgically or the patients are followed clinically. Other therapeutic modalities utilized for cosmesis include carbon dioxide laser and photodynamic therapy.
