Textile-reinforced conveyor belts are most widely used in various industries, including in the mining, construction, and manufacturing industries, to transport materials from one place to another. The conveyor belt’s tensile strength, which primarily relies on the property of the carcass, determines the area of application of the belt. The main aim of the current work was to investigate the influence of vulcanization temperature and duration of the vulcanization process on the tensile properties of the carcass part of the conveyor belt. An extensive experiment was carried out on the tensile properties of woven fabrics that were intended to reinforce conveyor belts by aging the fabrics at the temperature of 140 °C, 160 °C, and 220 °C for six and thirty-five minutes of aging durations. Afterward, the textile-reinforced conveyor belts were produced at vulcanization temperatures of 140 °C, 160 °C, and 220 °C for six and thirty-five minutes of vulcanizing durations. The influence of the vulcanization process parameters on the tensile property of fabrics utilized for the reinforcement of the conveyor belt was analyzed. In addition, the effect of the dipping process of woven fabric in resorcinol–formaldehyde–latex on the tensile property of polyester/polyamide 66 woven fabric (EP fabric) was investigated. The investigation results revealed that the tensile strength of the carcass of the conveyor belt was significantly affected by vulcanization temperature. The conveyor belt vulcanized at 160 °C for 35 min has shown the optimum tensile strength, which is 2.22% and 89.06% higher than the samples vulcanized at 140 °C and 220 °C for 35 min, respectively. Furthermore, the tensile strength and percentage elongation at break of conveyor belts vulcanized at 220 °C were almost destroyed regardless of the vulcanization duration.  相似文献

Hydrophobic rubber-silica aerogel panels (21.5 × 21.5 × 1.6 cm3) were fabricated from silica and rubber sols and reinforced with several fiber types (recycled tire textile fibers, polyester blanket, silica felt, glass wool). A recycled rubber sol was prepared using peracetic acid and incorporated for the first time in TEOS-based sol-gel chemistry. The composites exhibited good thermal stability up to 400 °C and very low thermal conductivity, in the superinsulation range when using polyester fibers (16.4 ± 1.0 mW·m−1·K−1), and of 20–30 mW·m−1·K−1 for the remaining fibers. They could also endure cyclic compression loads with near full recovery, thus showing very promising properties for insulation of buildings.  相似文献

The influence of the thermo-oxidative aging semi-crystalline polyethylene terephthalate process on the thermal and mechanical properties was analysed in the article. For this purpose, PET was aged at 140 °C for 21, 35 and 56 days. The research showed that as a result of aging, the amount of the crystalline phase increases by about 8%, which translates into the properties of the aged material. The glass transition and melt temperature of lamellar crystals formed during first and second crystallisation increase with aging. The mechanical properties of the material were analysed in the temperature range of 25 to 75 °C. The tests were showing an increase in Young’s modulus and a decrease in elongation at the break as a result of aging. This phenomenon was particularly visible during tests at 75 °C and during the morphological observation of the fracture surface, where the fracture character of the material changes from ductile to brittle. In the case of the material aged for the longest time, the temperature has a negligible influence on the elongation at break.  相似文献

The present work investigated the effect of aging treatment on the microstructure and tensile properties of an Al-2%Cu base alloy containing various additions of Zr and other alloying elements. Aging was carried out at temperatures of 180–300 °C for different aging times at each temperature. The tensile properties indicated that Zr additions improved the strength of the base alloy, especially at high Zr levels at 180 °C. At the 220 °C aging temperature, however, while Zr addition did not have a beneficial effect on the alloy strength, the ductility was found to improve. Zr-Ti combined additions had a significant effect on the microstructure of the base alloy, as the morphology of the α-Al grains transformed into a non-dendritic morphology, and the grain size decreased sharply. These effects were at their maximum at 180 °C and 0.5 wt% Zr addition. Moreover, the Zr-containing alloys aged at higher temperatures, such as 220 °C and 240 °C, maintained a noticeably higher level of strength over the base alloy aged at the same temperatures. Quality index charts based on the tensile test data also reflected an improvement in alloy quality and strength with Zr-Ti combined additions.  相似文献

In the fabric industry, textile yarns are the fundamental building blocks. Hence, visualizing and studying yarn structure is essential to understand the structure and behavior of the fibers. Obtaining the yarn’s cross-section images is crucial in the calculations of yarn’s porosity; furthermore, a more precise expansion for the fiber’s migration can be concluded from the cross-sectional images. In this paper, three different methods (microtome, micro-computed tomography, and epoxy grinding–polishing methods) to image and visualize the yarn’s cross-section are presented. The experimental techniques are compared in terms of result useability, time of preparation, and overall outcome of the cross-sectional image. The images can be used for fiber distribution, air gap calculation, and twist analysis as well. The fiber diameter distribution of polyester yarn was measured based on the images obtained by the three different methods; the average fiber diameter measured based on the combined data from the three different methods was found to be 10.90 ± 0.30 µm.  相似文献

The design of flexible sensors which can be incorporated in textile structures is of decisive importance for the future development of wearables. In addition to their technical functionality, the materials chosen to construct the sensor should be nontoxic, affordable, and compatible with future recycling. Conductive fibres were produced by incorporation of carbon black into regenerated cellulose fibres. By incorporation of 23 wt.% and 27 wt.% carbon black, the surface resistance of the fibres reduced from 1.3 × 1010 Ω·cm for standard viscose fibres to 2.7 × 103 and 475 Ω·cm, respectively. Fibre tenacity reduced to 30–50% of a standard viscose; however, it was sufficient to allow processing of the material in standard textile operations. A fibre blend of the conductive viscose fibres with polyester fibres was used to produce a needle-punched nonwoven material with piezo-electric properties, which was used as a pressure sensor in the very low pressure range of 400–1000 Pa. The durability of the sensor was demonstrated in repetitive load/relaxation cycles. As a regenerated cellulose fibre, the carbon-black-incorporated cellulose fibre is compatible with standard textile processing operations and, thus, will be of high interest as a functional element in future wearables.  相似文献

Long chopped glass fiber reinforced low-density unsaturated polyester resin (LCGFR-LDUPR) composite materials with light weight and excellent mechanical properties were prepared. It was proved that long chopped glass fiber, which was in length of 15.0 mm and chopped from ER4800-T718 plied yarn, was suitable for the preparation of LCGFR-LDUPR composite samples. With the coexistence of 1.50 parts per hundred of resin (phr) of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP-II) and 0.05 phr of cobalt naphthenate, optimal preparation parameters were obtained, which were 20.00 phr of long chopped glass fiber, 2.50 phr of NH4HCO3, at a curing temperature of 58.0 °C. The lowest dosage of activated radicals produced by MEKP-II and cobalt naphthenate enabled the lower curing exothermic enthalpy and the slowest crosslinking for unsaturated polyester resin to carry out, resulting in a higher curing degree of resin. It was conducive to the formation, diffusion, and distribution of bubbles in uniform size, and also to the constitution of ideal three-dimensional framework of long glass fibers in the cured sample, which resulted in the LCGFR-LDUPR composite sample presenting the apparent density (ρ) of 0.68 ± 0.02 g/cm3, the compression strength (P) of 35.36 ± 0.38 MPa, and the highest specific compressive strength (Ps) of 52.00 ± 0.74 MPa/g·cm3. The work carried out an ideal three-dimensional framework of long chopped glass fiber in the reinforcement to low-density unsaturated polyester resin composite samples. It also presented the proper initiator/accelerator system of the lower curing exothermic enthalpy and the slowest crosslinking for unsaturated polyester resin.  相似文献

The artificial aging heat treatments performed directly on as-built and solubilized AlSi7Mg0.6 and AlSi10Mg0.3 samples were characterized and discussed. The analysed bars and billets (height of 300 mm) were manufactured via the Laser Powder-Bed Fusion process on a build platform heated at 150 °C. Therefore, its influence on the as-built samples was studied in terms of mechanical performance variations between the bottom and top regions. Vickers microhardness measurements were performed to obtain aging profiles after direct aging (175–225 °C) and T6 heat treatments and to highlight better time and temperature parameters to optimize the mechanical properties of both alloys. SEM observations were used to characterize the microstructure before and after the heat treatments and its influence on the fracture mechanisms. Generally, the direct aging heat treatments show the same effects on both aluminium alloys, unlike the solubilization at 505 °C followed by artificial aging at 175 °C. The strengths vs. elongation values obtained after the direct aging treatments are better than those exhibited by T6 as highlighted by the quality index.  相似文献

In this study, the strength, elongation, and fatigue properties of 7005 aluminum alloy plates with different configurations of precipitates were investigated by means of tensile tests, fatigue tests, and microstructural observation. We found that the number and size of GP zones in an alloy plate matrix increased and the distribution was more uniform after the aging time was extended from 1 h to 4 h at 120 °C, which led to a rise in both strength and elongation of alloy plates with the extending aging time. The fatigue life of the alloy plates shortened slightly at first, then significantly prolonged, and then shortened again with the aging time extending from 1 h to 192 h and a fatigue stress level of 185 MPa and stress ratio (R) = 0. After aging at 120 °C for 96 h, the precipitates in the alloy plate matrix were almost all metastable η′-phase particles, which had the optimal aging strengthening effect on the alloy matrix, and the degree of mismatch between the α-Al matrix and second-phase particles was the smallest; the fatigue crack initiation and propagation resistances were the largest, leading to the best fatigue performance of alloy plates, and the fatigue life of the aluminum plate was the longest, up to 1.272 × 106 cycles. When the aging time at 120 °C was extended to 192 h, there were a small number of equilibrium η phases in the aluminum plates that were completely incoherent with the matrix and destroyed the continuity of the aluminum matrix, easily causing stress concentration. As a result, the fatigue life of alloy plates was shortened to 9.422 × 105 cycles.  相似文献

Sericin, a textile waste, can be used for antioxidant and skin-whitening purposes. The hydrothermal method of extracting sericin is more eco-friendly than are chemical and enzymatic methods. In this study, silk cocoons were cut into pieces and then subjected to hydrothermal extraction at three temperatures (160, 200, and 220 °C) to obtain sericin extracts (Sericin160, Sericin200, and Sericin220, respectively). Antioxidant activity and tyrosinase inhibition were measured to determine the extracts’ effectiveness. Sericin220 was the strongest antioxidant, with total phenol content, total flavonoid content, and ferric reducing power of 62.19 ± 0.04 mg gallic acid equivalents/g dry weight, 0.07 ± 0.01 mg quercetin equivalent/g dry weight, and 181.49 ± 0.024 mg vitamin C equivalent/g dry weight, respectively. The half-maximal inhibitory concentrations for DPPH and ABTS free-radical scavenging ability were 6.41 ± 0.05 and 0.79 ± 0.37 mg/mL, respectively. Sericin220 also exhibited the highest tyrosinase inhibition activity (70.82 ± 4.1 mg vitamin C equivalent/g), indicating its whitening potential.  相似文献

Ti6Al4V (Ti64) alloys manufactured by selective laser melting (SLM) are well known for their susceptibility to failure at a low ductility of less than 10% due to the formation of an (α′) martensitic structure. Annealing and solution treatments as post-heat treatments of α′ are considered a good way to improve the mechanical performance of SLM-manufactured Ti64 parts. In this research, the effect of heat treatment parameters such as temperature (850 °C and 1020 °C) and cooling rate (furnace and water cooling) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the SLM Ti64 structure was investigated. It was shown that the tensile strength/ductility of the Ti64 alloy produced by SLM was determined by the post-heat treatment. The experimental results revealed that heat treatment at 850 °C followed by furnace cooling resulted in the best possible combination of ductility (13%) and tensile strength (σy = 932, σu = 986 MPa) with a microstructure consisting mainly of 78.71% α and 21.29% β. Heat treatment at 850 °C followed by water cooling was characterized by a reduction in hardness and the formation of predominantly α plus α′′ and a small amount of β. HT850WC exhibited yield and tensile strengths of about 870 and 930 MPa, respectively, and an elongation at fracture of 10.4%. Heat treatment at 1020 °C and subsequent cooling in the furnace was characterized by the formation of an α + β lamellar microstructure. In contrast, heat treatment at 1020 °C and subsequent water cooling formed semi-equiaxial β grains of about 170 µm in diameter with longer elongated α grains and basket-weave α′. Post-treatment at 1020 °C followed by furnace cooling showed high ductility with an elongation of 14.5% but low tensile strength (σy = 748, σu = 833 MPa). In contrast, post-treatment at 1020 °C followed by water cooling showed poor ductility with elongation of 8.6% but high tensile strength (σy = 878, σu = 990 MPa). The effect of aging at 550 °C for 3 h and cooling in a furnace on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the specimens cooled with water was also studied. It was found that aging influenced the microstructure of the Ti6Al4V parts, including β, α, and α″ precipitation and fragmentation or globularization of elongated α grains. The aging process at 550 °C leads to an increase in tensile strength and a decrease in ductility.  相似文献

Black poplar (Populus nigra L.) was thermally modified in nitrogen atmosphere. The effects of the modification process on poplar wood were evaluated for temperatures: 160 °C, 190 °C, and 220 °C applied for 2 h; and 160 °C and 190 °C for 6 h. The percentual impact of temperature and time of modification on the properties of modified wood was analysed. The study permitted the identification correlations between the chemical composition and selected physical properties of thermally modified poplar wood. The dimensional stability of poplar wood was improved after thermal modification in nitrogen. The higher the temperature of modification, the lower the equilibrium moisture content (EMC) of black poplar. At the temperature of 220 °C, EMC was two times lower than the EMC of non-modified black poplar. It is also possible to reduce the dimensional changes of wood two-fold (at the modification temperature of 220 °C), both in radial and tangential directions, independently of the acclimatization conditions (from 34% to 98% relative humidity, RH). Similar correlations have been found for wood that has been soaked in water. Higher modification temperatures and longer processing times contributed to a lower swelling anisotropy (SA).  相似文献

Fly ash (FA) fractions with a particle size of 63 µm < FA < 250 µm obtained by sieve fractionation were used as a partial carbon black (CB) replacement in a rubber mixture based on styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). In order to improve the interactions at the interface between rubber and fractionated ash, at the stage of preparing the rubber mixtures, two different vinyl silanes were added to the system: Vinyltrimethoxysilane (U-611) or Vinyl-tris (2-methoxy-ethoxy) silane (LUVOMAXX VTMOEO DL50), silane with epoxy groups: 3-(glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (U-50) or sulfur functionalized silanes: containing sulfide bridges: Bis(triethoxysilylpropyl)polysulfide silane (Si-266) or mercapto groups: Mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (Dynaslan MTMO). The conducted research confirmed the effectiveness of silanization with selected functional silanes, from the point of view of improving the processing and operational properties of vulcanizates, in which CB is partially replaced with the finest fractions of fly ash. The silanization generally increased the interaction at the rubber–ash interface, while improving the degree of filler dispersion in the rubber mixture. The results of TGA and FTIR analyses confirmed the presence of silanes chemically bonded to the surface of fly ash particles. SEM tests and determination of the bound rubber (BdR) content show that the introduction of the silanes to the mixture increases the degree of ash dispersion (DI) and the Payne effect, which is the greatest when mercaptosilane was used for modification. The highest increase in torque, which was recorded in the case of rubber mixtures containing sulfur silanes and silane with epoxy groups, may be due to their participation in the vulcanization process, which is confirmed by the results of vulcametric studies. The lowest values of mechanical strength, elongation at break, and the highest hardness of vulcanizates obtained in this case may be the result of the over-crosslinking of the rubber. The addition of sulfur-containing silanes significantly slowed down the vulcanization process, which is particularly visible (up to three times extension of the t90 parameter, compared to mixtures without silane) in the case of Si-266. The addition of silanes, except for Si-266 (with a polysulfide fragment), generally improved the abrasion resistance of vulcanizates. The Dynaslan MTMO silane (with mercapto groups) performs best in this respect. Proper selection of silane for the finest fraction of fly ash in the rubber mixtures tested allows for an increase in the mechanical strength of their vulcanizates from 9.1 to 17 MPa, elongation at break from 290 to 500%, hardness from 68 to 74 °ShA, and reduction in abrasion from 171 to 147 mm3.  相似文献

A novel Al-Cu-Zr alloy is designed in this paper, which provides a method for further improving the strength of Al-Cu alloys. In this paper, the addition of the micro-alloying element Zr in Al-Cu alloy was studied. The effect of aging treatment on the mechanical properties and precipitation behavior of the alloy was studied. With the addition of Zr, Al3Zr phases were formed in the alloy, which acts as obstacles to dislocation motion. In addition, Al3Zr phases can be used as the nucleation site of θ′ phases to promote precipitation. All this can improve the strength of Al-Cu alloys. After one-step aging, corresponding to the highest hardness, the largest amount of θ′ phases were observed in the alloy matrix. By contrast, after two-step aging, the θ′ phases were finer, and a large amount of Guinier–Preston (GP) zones formed during the pre-aging step, which were transformed into denser and finer θ′ phases in the secondary aging step. After the same solution treatment (540 °C/12 h), undergoing 120 °C/4 h + 175 °C/10 h two-step aging, the ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of the Al-Cu-Zr alloy were 398.7 MPa, 313.3 MPa, and 7.9%, respectively.  相似文献

In this work, we present the effect of silica’s specific surface area (180 m2·g−1 and 380 m2·g−1, respectively) on the crosslinking of styrene–butadiene rubber (SBR) composites, as well as their crosslink density and functional properties, such as thermal stability, damping behavior, resistance to thermo-oxidative aging, and tensile properties. Ionic liquids (ILs) with a bromide anion and different cations, i.e., 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium (Bmi), 1-butyl-3-methylpyrrolidinium (Bmpyr), and 1-butyl-3-methylpiperidinium (Bmpip), were used to enhance the cure characteristics of SBR compounds and the functional properties of SBR vulcanizates. It was proven that apart from the silica’s specific surface area, the filler–polymer and filler–filler physical interactions have a significant impact on the vulcanization kinetics of silica-filled SBR composites. Additionally, the performed studies have shown that ILs positively affected the dispersion of silica’s particles and reduced their ability to form agglomerates in the elastomer matrix, which enhanced the functional properties of the SBR vulcanizates.  相似文献

Although films of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) have good oxygen barrier properties due to its fine network structure, properties strongly deteriorate after absorption of water. In this work, a new approach has been followed for actively tuning the water resistance of a MFC fiber network by the inclusion of dispersed organic nanoparticles with encapsulated plant wax. The modified pulp suspensions have been casted into films and were subsequently cured at 40 to 220 °C. As such, static water contact angles can be specifically tuned from 120 to 150° by selection of the curing temperature in relation with the intrinsic transition temperatures of the modified pulp, as determined by thermal analysis. The appearance of encapsulated wax after curing was followed by a combination of morphological analysis, infrared spectroscopy and Raman mapping, showing balanced mechanisms of progressive release and migration of wax into the fiber network controlling the surface properties and water contact angles. Finally, the appearance of nanoparticles covered with a thin wax layer after complete thermal release provides highest hydrophobicity.  相似文献

To study the heat-treatment process of a semi-solid copper alloy, a thixotropic back-extruded tin–bronze shaft sleeve was heat-treated at 630 °C, 660 °C, 690 °C and 720 °C for 1 h, respectively. Microstructure changes and mechanical properties under different solution temperatures of shaft sleeve were characterized using a metallographic microscope (OM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), hardness tester, and tensile tester. The results show that the tensile strength first increases and then decreases; the elongation decreases; and the Brinell hardness increases gradually with increasing solution temperature. When the solution treatment is at 690 °C, the tin–bronze shaft sleeve’s microstructure and comprehensive mechanical properties are the best. The shape factor is 0.75, the average grain size is 82.52 μm, the Brinell hardness is 122 HBW, the tensile strength is 437 MPa, and the elongation is 17.4%, which is 3.4 times higher than that before solution treatment.  相似文献

Conventionally processed precipitation hardening aluminum alloys are generally treated with T6 heat treatments which are time-consuming and generally optimized for conventionally processed microstructures. Alternatively, parts produced by laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) are characterized by unique microstructures made of very fine and metastable phases. These peculiar features require specifically optimized heat treatments. This work evaluates the effects of a short T6 heat treatment on L-PBF AlSi7Mg samples. The samples underwent a solution step of 15 min at 540 °C followed by water quenching and subsequently by an artificial aging at 170 °C for 2–8 h. The heat treated samples were characterized from a microstructural and mechanical point of view and compared with both as-built and direct aging (DA) treated samples. The results show that a 15 min solution treatment at 540 °C allows the dissolution of the very fine phases obtained during the L-PBF process; the subsequent heat treatment at 170 °C for 6 h makes it possible to obtain slightly lower tensile properties compared to those of the standard T6. With respect to the DA samples, higher elongation was achieved. These results show that this heat treatment can be of great benefit for the industry.  相似文献

Due to the advantages of relatively low cost, increased energy efficiency, increased deposition rate, and the capacity to create medium to large scale components, wire + arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) has gained growing interest. Super martensitic stainless steel (SMSS) combines outstanding strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance, making it a great option for WAAM. In the present work, an SMSS component was successfully produced by WAAM. Additionally, the influence of post-manufactured heat treatment on the microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of SMSS components was systematically examined. A microstructural analysis of the as-printed and heat-treated samples revealed the formation of typical martensite and a small amount of retained austenite. However, the sample heat-treated by solutionizing at 1050 °C for 1 h followed by aging at 400 °C for 2 h exhibited a finer martensitic structure with an effective grain size of 5.6 μm compared to as-printed sample, leading to an increase in ultimate tensile strength from 1054 ± 6 MPa to 1141 ± 3 MPa with a concomitant increase in elongation from 7.8 ± 0.4% to 12.6 ± 0.2%. Additionally, the fracture morphology of the solution + aging sample demonstrated a more uniform distribution and greater mean size of dimples, indicating better ductility.  相似文献

To further improve the mechanical properties of H13 steel at room and high temperatures, its precipitates were regulated based on the Thermo-Calc results. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) Rietveld refinement were used to study the effect of the intercritical annealing on the microstructure and mechanical properties of H13 steel. The results show that the intercritical annealing at 850~95 °C increased the VC volume fraction from 2.23 to 3.03~3.48%. Increasing the VC volume fraction could inhibit the M7C3 precipitation from 10.01 to 6.63~5.72% during tempering. A large amount of VC also promoted the M23C6 precipitation during tempering at higher dislocation densities. The intercortical annealing simultaneously increased the elongation of H13 steel. An excellent combination (room temperature: ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 898 MPa and total elongation (TEL) of 19.35%, 650 °C: UTS of 439 MPa, and TEL of 27.80%) could be obtained when intercritical annealing is performed at 900 °C. Meanwhile, after aging at 650 °C for 128 h, the room temperature UTS and TEL decreased by only 31 MPa and 0.52%, respectively.  相似文献
