Liquid accelerating agents have the advantages of simple operation and fast construction, and have become indispensable admixtures in shotcrete. However, most liquid accelerating agents in the market at present contain alkali or fluorine, which adversely affect concrete and seriously threaten the physical and mental health of workers. Therefore, in view of the above deficiencies, it is necessary to develop a new type of alkali-free fluorine-free liquid accelerating agent. In this paper, the polyaluminum sulfate early strength alkali-free liquid accelerator is prepared using polymeric aluminum sulfate, diethanolamine, magnesium sulfate heptahydrate and nano-silica. The influence of this agent on the setting time of fresh cement paste and compressive strength of the corresponding cement mortar is determined. Thermogravimetric analysis curves, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy images are obtained to investigate the mechanism. Findings show that the initial setting time and the final setting time of cement paste are 2 min 30 s and 7 min 25 s. The compressive strengths of cement mortar cured for 1 d, 28 d and 90 d are 2.4 MPa, 52.2 MPa and 54.3 MPa respectively. Additionally, the corresponding flexural strengths are 3.4 MPa, 9.8 MPa, 11.8 MPa. When the mass rate of accelerator is 7%, the mechanical strengths of cement mortar are the highest. The additions of fly ash and blast furnace slag can affect the mechanical of cement mortar mixed with accelerator. When the mass ratio of the fly ash and blast furnace slag is 15%, the mechanical strengths of cement mortar reach the highest. Moreover, the hydration heat release rate of cement is increased by the accelerator and the corresponding time of hydration heat peak is decreased by the accelerator. The accelerator can decrease the amount of needle-like hydration products and improve the compactness. The mechanical strengths are improved by consuming a large amount of Ca(OH)2 and forming more compact hydration products. It is recommended that the optimum dosage range of the polyaluminum sulfate early strength alkali-free liquid accelerator is 7%.  相似文献

The denitrification process was completed in coal-fired power plants, resulting in the fly ash containing NH4HSO4. When this kind of fly ash with ammonia was applied to cement and concrete, there could be phenomena such as a retarded setting time, decreased compressive strength, and volume expansion. This paper mainly investigated the influence of fly ash containing NH4HSO4 on the properties of fly ash cement paste, and pastes with NaHSO4 were set as the control samples. The research on Na+ in cement hydration was studied. The influence of NH4HSO4 content in fly ash on the properties of fly ash cement paste was also investigated. It was found that NH4+ could greatly affect the properties of fly ash cement paste, such as significantly reducing the fluidity, prolonging the setting time, decreasing the compressive strength, increasing the drying shrinkage, decreasing the total heat released during the hydration, and affecting the content of calcium hydroxide hydrate. Increasing the ammonia content of the denitrified fly ash would reduce fluidity, retard its setting time, increase the porosity of the cement stone, and increase the number of pores with large sizes in the fly ash cement paste. The increase of porosity and pores with large sizes in cement decreases the compressive strength and increases the drying shrinkage of the fly ash cement paste.  相似文献

The use of nanomaterials to enhance the physical and mechanical properties and durability of cement materials in their hardened state has been studied for a long time in many investigations. In comparison, fewer studies focus on nanomaterials’ influence on the fresh state when the cement reaction starts. In addition, if we consider ternary blended cement (as those used for applications in marine environments), this has been rarely studied. Severe stresses in the marine environment require high durability, which is achieved by using pozzolanic additions, to the detriment of a rapid achievement of the properties. The addition of nanomaterials could contribute to increasing the durability and also accelerating the setting of the concrete. In this work, we performed a systematic and comparative study on the influence of adding graphene oxide (GO), nanosilica (NS), and microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) during the setting mechanisms of cement (CEM V/A suitable for concrete subjected to external attacks in marine environments) blended with fly ash and slag. Cement hardening was examined through setting time and rheology within mini-slump tests. The effect of nanoadditives on the cement hydration was analysed by heat flow calorimetry to evaluate the acceleration potential. Exploring the three nanoadditives on the same formulation, we could establish that the retention of mixing water significantly decreased workability for MFC. In contrast, NS increases the hydration of cement particles, acting as nucleation nodes and promoting supplementary cement hydrates (pozzolanic reactions) and accelerating setting time. Finally, GO showed a reduction in workability. We also investigated the dosage effects on mechanical behaviour at an early age and discovered an improvement even at low GO (0.006%) and NS (3%) dosages. This study uses two types of nanofibrillated bacterial cellulose (NFBC), a culture solution containing NFBC (Bf) and a purified solution (Pf), to investigate the influence of NFBC on the basic properties of mortar. The flow test, air content test, setting time test, restraint expansion test, dry shrinkage test, strength test and freeze–thaw test were performed. The results show that the flow of fresh mortar increases for Bf and decreases for Pf, while the setting time of mortar is delayed for Bf. The dry shrinkage is slightly decreased as a result of using NFBC in expansive mortar. In addition, for both types of NFBC, the strength is not significantly affected in ordinary mortar, while the compressive strength tends to increase slightly after 28 days of underwater curing in expansive mortar. Moreover, the frost resistance improves as the air content increases in ordinary mortar. In expansive mortar, the frost resistance is improved for Bf, but the frost resistance is not improved for Pf. This investigation has revealed that NFBC can be used as an admixture to improve the properties of mortar, such as frost resistance.  相似文献

Calcium carbide residue (CCR) is a waste by-product from acetylene gas production. The main component of CCR is Ca(OH)2, which can react with siliceous materials through pozzolanic reactions, resulting in a product similar to those obtained from the cement hydration process. Thus, it is possible to use CCR as a substitute for Portland cement in concrete. In this research, we synthesized CCR and silica fume through a chemical combustion technique to produce a new reactive cementitious powder (RCP). The properties of paste and mortar in fresh and hardened states (setting time, shrinkage, and compressive strength) with 5% cement replacement by RCP were evaluated. The hydration of RCP and OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) pastes was also examined through SEM (scanning electron microscope). Test results showed that in comparison to control OPC mix, the hydration products for the RCP mix took longer to formulate. The initial and final setting times were prolonged, while the drying shrinkage was significantly reduced. The compressive strength at the age of 45 days for RCP mortar mix was found to be higher than that of OPC mortar and OPC mortar with silica fume mix by 10% and 8%, respectively. Therefore, the synthesized RCP was proved to be a sustainable active cementitious powder for the strength enhanced of building materials, which will result in the diversion of significant quantities of this by-product from landfills.  相似文献

The use of tricyclic copolymer latex (AMPS) can effectively improve the carbonation resistance of sulphoaluminate cement. This paper investigated polymer AMPS and polycarboxylic acid to modify sulphoaluminate cement materials by exploring the carbonation level of sulphoaluminate cement paste and mortar and the strength before and after carbonation. Then, the optimal dosage of polymer and polycarboxylic acid was obtained so that the carbonation resistance of sulphoaluminate cement reached the best state. The compressive strength was significantly improved by adding AMPS for sulphoaluminate cement paste and mortar. After carbonation, the strength decreased and combined with the carbonation level; it was concluded that the carbonation resistance of sulphoaluminate cement materials was the best when the optimal dosage of AMPS and polycarboxylic acid was 5% and 1.8%, respectively. Due to the addition of AMPS, the hydrated calcium aluminosilicate (C-A-S-H) and hydrated calcium silicate (C-S-H) gels, generated by the hydration of sulphoaluminate cement and the surface of unreacted cement particles, are wrapped by AMPS particles. The water is discharged through cement hydration. The polymer particles on the surface of the hydration product merge into a continuous film, which binds the cement hydration product together to form an overall network structure, penetrating the entire cement hydration phase and forming a polymer cement mortar with excellent structural sealing performance. To prevent the entry of CO2 and achieve the effect of anti-carbonation, adding polycarboxylic acid mainly improves the sample’s internal density to achieve the anti-carbonation purpose.  相似文献

This work intends to contribute to the understanding of the influence factors of early hydration of ultrafine cement by focusing on the different fineness, different kinds of hardening accelerators, and different curing temperatures. Isothermal calorimetry, thermogravimetry, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were performed to compare the hydration and chemical evolution of pastes containing accelerators with different fineness and curing temperatures; meanwhile, mechanical properties and water absorption were tested. The results showed that the cement fineness had a significant effect on the early hydration process; the smaller the cement particle size, the higher the early compressive strength. The 24 h compressive strength of ultrafine cement with a particle diameter of 6.8μm could reach 55.94 MPa, which was 118% higher than the reference cement. Water absorption test results indicated that adding 1% Ca(HCOO)2 to ultrafine cement can effectively reduce the water absorption, and it was only 1.93% at 28 d, which was 46% lower than the reference cement. An increase in curing temperature accelerated the activation of ultrafine cement in terms of the strength development rate, and the content of Ca(OH)2 in the ultrafine cement paste could reach 13.09% after being mixed with water for 24 h, which was 22% higher than that of the reference cement.  相似文献

The effect of nanosilica on the microstructure setting process of tetracalcium phosphate/nanomonetite calcium phosphate cement mixture (CPC) with the addition of 5 wt% of magnesium pyrophosphate (assigned as CT5MP) and osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells cultured in cement extracts were studied. A more compact microstructure was observed in CT5MP cement with 0.5 wt% addition of nanosilica (CT5MP1Si) due to the synergistic effect of Mg2P2O7 particles, which strengthened the cement matrix and nanosilica, which supported gradual growth and recrystallization of HAP particles to form compact agglomerates. The addition of 0.5 wt% of nanosilica to CT5MP cement caused an increase in CS from 18 to 24 MPa while the setting time increased almost twofold. It was verified that adding nanosilica to CPC cement, even in a low amount (0.5 and 1 wt% of nanosilica), positively affected the injectability of cement pastes and differentiation of cells with upregulation of osteogenic markers in cells cultured in cement extracts. Results revealed appropriate properties of these types of cement for filling bone defects.  相似文献

In this paper, the traditional, silicate-based Portland cement (PC) was employed as the control to explore the impact of adding varying amounts of metakaolin (MK) on the mechanical properties of cement mortar. In fact, as a mineral admixture, metakaolin (MK) has the ability to significantly improve the early strength and sulfate resistance of cement mortar in traditional, silicate-based Portland cement (PC). In addition to this, the performance of Portland cement mortar is greatly affected by the curing mode. The previous research mainly stays in the intermittent curing and alkaline excitation mode, and there are few studies on the influence of relatively humidity on it. Moreover, the paper investigated the impact of four different curing methods about humidity on the mechanical properties and sulfate resistance. The results show that the best content of metakaolin in Portland cement is 10% (M10), and the best curing method is 95% humidity in the first three days followed by 60% humidity in the later period (3#). Based on previous literature that suggests that adding MK thickens water film layer on the surface of mortar, the mechanism of MK increasing the early strength of cement was analyzed. The compressive strength of the Portland cement containing 10% MK (M10) after 1 day curing is 3.18 times that of pristine PC mortar, and is comparable if PC is cured for three days under the same curing conditions. The traditional PC mortar is highly dependent on the wet curing time, and normally requires a curing time of at least seven days. However, the incorporation of MK can greatly reduce the sensitivity of Portland cement to water; MK cement mortar with only three days wet curing (3#M10) can reach 49.12 MPa after 28 days, which can greatly shorten the otherwise lengthy wet curing time. Lastly, the cement specimens with MK also demonstrated excellent resistance against sulfate corrosion. The work will provide a strong theoretical basis for the early demolding of cement products in construction projects. At the same time, this study can also provide a theoretical reference for the construction of climate drought and saline land areas, which has great reference value.  相似文献

This paper shows the results of a study focused on the evolution and properties of mortars made with a mixture of portland cement (PC) and natural mordenite (Mor). To begin, samples of mordenite, cement and sand were studied with X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and granulometric analysis (GA). Next, mortars with a ratio of 75% PC and 25% mordenite were prepared to determine their initial and final setting times, consistency and density. Continuing, the density, weight and compressive strength of the specimens were determined at 2, 7, 28, 90 and 365 days. Finally, the specimens were studied using SEM, XRD and XRF. The results of the study of the mordenite sample showed a complex constitution where the major mineral component is mordenite, and to a lesser degree smectite (montmorillonite), halloysite, illite, mica, quartz, plagioclase and feldspar, in addition to altered volcanic glass. Tests with fresh cement/mordenite mortar (CMM) showed an initial setting time of 320 min and a final setting time of 420 min, much longer than the 212–310 min of portland cement mortar (PCM). It was established that the consistency of the cement/mordenite mortar (CMM) was greater than that of the PCM. The results of the density study showed that the CMM has a lower density than the PCM. On the other hand, the density of cement/mordenite specimens (CMS) was lower than that of portland cement specimens (PCS). The CMS compressive strength studies showed a significant increase from 18.2 MPa, at 2 days, to 72 MPa, at 365 days, with better strength than PCS at 28 and 365 days, respectively. XRD, XRF and SEM studies conducted on CMS showed a good development of primary and secondary tobermorite, the latter formed at the expense of portlandite; also, ettringite developed normally. This work proves that the partial replacement of PC by mordenite does not have a negative effect on the increase in the mechanical strength of CMS. It indicates that the presence of mordenite inhibits the spontaneous hydration of C3A and controls the anomalous formation of ettringite (Ett). All this, together with the mechanical strength reported, indicates that mordenite has a deep and positive influence on the evolution of the mortar setting and is an efficient pozzolan, meaning it can be used in the manufacture of mortars and highly resistant pozzolanic cement, with low hydration heat, low density, stability in extremely aggressive places and a low impact on the environment.  相似文献

The use of ammonia soda residue (ASR) to prepare building materials is an effective way to dispose of ASR on a large scale, but this process suffers from a lack of data and theoretical basis. In this paper, a composite cementitious material was prepared using ASR and cement, and the hydration mechanism of cementitious materials with 5%, 10%, and 20% ASR was studied. The XRD and SEM results showed that the main hydration products of ASR-cement composite cementitious materials were an amorphous C-S-H gel, hexagonal plate-like Ca(OH)2 (CH), and regular hexagonal plate-like Friedel’s salt (FS). The addition of ASR increased the heat of hydration of the cementitious material, which increased upon increasing the ASR content. The addition of ASR also reduced the cumulative pore volume of the hardened paste, which displayed the optimal pore structure when the ASR content was 5%. In addition, ASR shortened the setting time compared with the cement group, and the final setting times of the pastes with 5%, 10%, and 20% ASR were 30 min, 45 min, and 70 min shorter, respectively. When the ASR content did not exceed 10%, the 3-day compressive strength of the mortar was significantly improved, but the 28-day compressive strength was worse. Finally, the hydration mechanism and potential applications of the cementitious material are discussed. The results of this paper promote the use of ASR in building materials to reduce CO2 emissions in the cement industry.  相似文献

Alkali-activated materials, a new kind of low-carbon cement, have received extensive attention. While in order to obtain excellent functions, the modification of alkali-activated materials by nano-materials has become one of the important research directions of alkali-activated materials. Therein, the hydration property, mechanical properties, and action mechanism of the alkali-activated slag with and without graphene oxide (GO) were analyzed and evaluated. Results showed the compressive strength of mortar decreased at 3 days and 28 days by adding GO. While the flexural strength of mortar cured for different ages increased with increasing GO content, and the flexural strength increasing rate reached up to 15.94% at 28 days, thus, the toughening effect of GO was significant. GO accelerated the hydration process of alkali-activated slag because the functional groups offered nucleation sites to induce the generation of more hydration products. Furthermore, the addition of GO increased the number of harmless pores and reduced the pore size, but also introduced a large number of harmful pores, resulting in the reduction of compressive strength.  相似文献

The study of the effect of cement type on the action of an admixture increasing the volume of concrete (containing aluminum powder), used in amounts of 0.5–1.5% of cement mass, was presented. The tests were carried out on cement mortars with Portland (CEM I) and ground granulated blast-furnace slag cement (CEM III). The following tests were carried out for the tested mortars: the air content in fresh mortars, compressive strength, flexural strength, increase in mortar volume, bulk density, pore structure evaluation (by the computer image analysis method) and changes in the concentration of OH ions during the hydration of used cements. Differences in the action of the tested admixture depending on the cement used were found. To induce the expansion of CEM III mortars, a smaller amount of admixture is required than in the case of CEM I cement. Using the admixture in amounts above 1% of the cement mass causes cracks of mortars with CEM III cement due to slow hydrogen evolution, which occurs after mortar plasticity is lost. The use of an aluminum-containing admixture reduces the strength properties of the cement mortars, the effect being stronger in the case of CEM III cement. The influence of the sample molding time on the admixture action was also found.  相似文献

The effect of air-entraining admixture (AEA) on the fresh and rheological behavior of mortars designed to be used in 3D printers was investigated. Blast furnace slag, calcined kaolin clay, polypropylene fiber, and various chemical additives were used in the mortar mixtures produced with Super White Cement (CEM I 52.5 R) and quartz sand. In addition to unit weight, air content, and compressive strength tests, in order to determine the stability of 3D printable mortar elements created by extruding layer by layer without any deformation, extrudability, buildability, and open time tests were applied. Fresh and rheological properties of 3D printable mortars were also determined. It was concluded that the addition of AEA to the mortars decreased the unit weight, viscosity, yield, and compressive strength, but increased the air content, spread diameter, initial setting time, and thixotropy of 3D printable mortar. It is recommended to develop a unique chemical admixture for 3D printable mortars, considering the active ingredients of the chemical additives that affect fresh and rheological performance of mortar such as superplasticizer, viscosity modifying, and cement hydration control.  相似文献

In this study, the compressive strength and water contact angle of mortar specimens prepared by mixing two types of water repellent with ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and rapid-hardening cement mortar were measured before and after surface abrasion. In addition, the hydration products and chemical bonding of cement mortar with the repellents were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) to evaluate the performance of these cement mortar mixtures as repair materials. We found that the fast-hardening cement mortar mixture containing the oligomer water repellent showed the best performance with a high compressive strength and large water contact angle. With the oligomer water repellent, the rapid-hardening cement mortar mixture showed contact angles of 131° and 126° even after a 2 mm abrasion, thereby confirming that the water repellent secured hydrophobicity through strong bonding with the entire cement mortar as well as its surface. The compressive strengths were found to be 34.5 MPa at 3 h and 54.8 MPa at 28 days, confirming that hydration occurred well despite the addition of water repellent.  相似文献

Cement mortar can be colored using color additive technology to give colorful facades to the surfaces of buildings, and to beautify the environment. In this study, weight ratios of color powder/cement at 1:80, 1:40, and 1:27, and polyacrylic emulsion/cement at a ratio of 1:5 were added as pigments to cement mortar; the fresh properties, slump, slump flow, hardened properties, compressive strength, flexural strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity, durability, surface electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity of the colored cement mortar were then examined. The results showed that adding color powder/cement at 1:80 and polyacrylic emulsion/cement at 1:5 gives the best water/cement (W/C) ratio, which equals 0.5; this can effectively improve the hardness and durability of colored cement mortar. At 28 days of aging, the strength of the various colored cement mortars was maintained at 33.1–36.8 MPa. The acrylic-based emulsion significantly improved the flexural strength of the specimen. At 91 days of aging, all of the cement mortars exceeded the control group, with an anti-bay strength of 19.9–21.7 MPa, and the strength increased with aging. Adding appropriate amounts of inorganic color powder and mixing water can effectively enhance the fresh and hardened properties and durability of the colored cement mortar, while polyacrylic emulsion may significantly improve the test pieces and flexural strength, which increases with age. Moreover, natural α-Fe2O3 (rust layer) is formed on the surface of the colored cement mortar samples through the addition of inorganic color powder that contains Fe(III) ion; this prevents the intrusion of noxious ions and thus increases the durability. All of the test pieces of colored cement mortar in this study had a surface resistance of over 20 kΩ-cm on the seventh day of the test period, meaning good surface compactness. In addition, because the thermal conductivity of the added inorganic color powder was higher than that of cement, the thermal conductivity was significantly improved.  相似文献

This study investigated the air aging converter (Basic Oxygen Furnace, BOF) slag aggregate mortar with pulverized fly ash (PFA) and ferronickel slag (FNS). The chemical composition and mineralogical constituents of BOF incorporated mortar were analyzed. Setting time, flowability, compressive strength, and length change were measured to evaluate the fundamental properties of BOF mortar. The X-ray CT analysis was employed to observe the effect of converter slag in the cement matrix visually. The results showed that the hydration of BOF generated a pore at the vicinity of the aggregate, which decreased the compressive strength and increased the length change of mortar. However, the PFA or FNS incorporation of PFA or FNS can decrease the alkalinity of pore solution and subsequently reduce the reactivity of BOF aggregate. Thus, the incorporation of PFA and FNS can be a way to eliminate the disadvantage of BOF, such as volume expansion.  相似文献

In this paper, the influence of Nano-silica (NS) and Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers on the corrosion behavior of steel rebar embedded in high-volume fly ash cement mortars under accelerated chloride attack was studied by using an impressed voltage technique. The PVA fibers used were 1.0 vol.%, and two mass fractions of cement (50 and 60 wt.%) were replaced by fly ash. Four NS mass fractions (0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 wt.%) were utilized in this paper. In addition, the mono and hybrid effects of NS and PVA on the mechanical properties and water absorption of mortar were also studied. The results showed that the incorporation of PVA and nano-SiO2 can improve the flexural and compressive strengths of high-volume fly ash mortar. Generally, the flexural and compressive strengths increased with the increase of nano-SiO2 content. Moreover, the incorporation NS can also reduce the capillary water–absorption rate of cement mortar. The impressed voltage corrosion test indicated that the composite incorporation of nano-SiO2 and PVA can significantly delay the deterioration process of steel bars in mortar, effectively reducing the steel rebar’s corrosion level and increasing the exposure time of the surface crack. With hybrid-incorporation 1.0 vol.% PVA and 1.0 wt.% nano-SiO2, the steel rebar had the lowest corrosion degree, which exhibited a mass loss of 49% and increased the broken time by 71% as compared to the control mortar.  相似文献

Superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) are known to mitigate the development of autogenous shrinkage in cementitious mixtures with a low water-to-cement ratio. Moreover, the addition of SAPs promotes the self-healing ability of cracks. A drawback of using SAPs lies in the formation of macropores when the polymers release their absorbed water, leading to a reduction of the mechanical properties. Therefore, a supplementary material was introduced together with SAPs, being nanosilica, in order to obtain an identical compressive strength with respect to the reference material without additives. The exact cause of the similar compressive behaviour lies in the modification of the hydration process and subsequent microstructural development by both SAPs and nanosilica. Within the present study, the effect of SAPs and nanosilica on the hydration progress and the hardened properties is assessed. By means of isothermal calorimetry, the hydration kinetics were monitored. Subsequently, the quantity of hydration products formed was determined by thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy, revealing an increased amount of hydrates for both SAP and nanosilica blends. An assessment of the pore size distribution was made using mercury intrusion porosimetry and demonstrated the increased porosity for SAP mixtures. A correlation between microstructure and the compressive strength displayed its influence on the mechanical behaviour.  相似文献

The study investigates effect of the additive consisting of natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) and soda lime glass powder on the hydration, mechanical properties and porosity of Portland cement concrete. The effect of mineral additive on the technological, physical-mechanical properties and porosity of the mortar was investigated by increasing the content of natural zeolite and glass powder added to the mortar up to 20% by weight of cement in increments of 5% and different particles size of natural zeolite. The mixes with the best technological and mechanical properties were identified and further studies were conducted by replacing 10% and 15% of cement with natural zeolite and soda lime glass with an average grain size of 59.3 μm, 29.0 μm or 3.6 μm of zeolite, and 29.6 μm of glass powder. The hydration process and microstructure of hardened cement paste modified with the aforementioned mineral additives was analysed by microcalorimetry, X-ray diffraction tests and thermogravimetric analysis. The optimal composition of cement paste and particle size distribution of natural zeolite were determined to achieve the higher flexural and compressive strength and lower open porosity.
