Between July 1983 and December 1984 natural flagellate infections were found in 114 (1%) of 11,586 female phlebotomine sandflies (Diptera: Psychodidae) of 21 species. A further 1084 females of 17 other species were not infected. Identification of the organisms on a number of occasions confirms the exclusive parasite/vector relationship of Leishmania mexicana amazonensis/Lutzomyia flaviscutellata and Le. braziliensis braziliensis/Psychodopygus "wellcomei". Undescribed or unidentified Leishmania spp. were isolated from Lu. shawi, Lu. ubiquitalis, Lu. whitmani, Ps. hirsutus, Ps. paraensis Ps. "wellcomei", and trypanosomes from Lu. nordestina and Lu. trinidadensis. Flagellate infections were recorded in 8 of 21 species examined for the first time, and some were isolated directly from insects into cultures. Le. b. braziliensis was transmitted to a hamster by the bite of a wild-caught, naturally infected Ps. "wellcomei". 7 of the 35 infected Ps. "wellcomei" were allowed to oviposit and the eggs were reared to adults. Four produced Ps. wellcomei males only, confirming the r?le of this species as the major vector of Le. b. braziliensis.  相似文献

The genus Panstrongylus includes 14 species widely distributed from Mexico to Argentina, some of them with great epidemiological significance as vectors of Chagas disease. We study the karyotype and the male meiotic process of Panstrongylus chinai, P. geniculatus, P. herreri, P. lignarius, P. megistus, P. rufotuberculatus and P. tupynambai. All species present the same sex mechanism (X(1)X(2)Y in males and X(1)X(1)X(2)X(2) in females) and they also have 20 autosomes, with the exception of P. megistus that only presents 18 autosomes. The analysis of C-banding patterns and meiotic chromosome behaviour show a great level of variability allowing the identification of three clearly differentiated groups. In the first group, we only include P. megistus because of its unusual number of autosomes. The second group includes P. chinai, P. herreri, P. lignarius and P. rufotuberculatus. Their autosomes present terminal heterochromatic regions that appear scattered throughout the nucleus and associated with the sex chromosomes. Actually, P. herreri and P. lignarius can be considered cytogenetically identical. Our results are in agreement with morphological, ecological and molecular data indicating that they should be regarded as the same species. The third group only includes P. tupynambai that shows autosomes without C-positive regions. Panstrongylus geniculatus shares characters will all the three groups. Its karyotypic features are extremely polymorphic depending on their geographic origin. Some populations do not show any heterochromatic regions, while others exhibit few or several heterochromatic blocks. The chromosomal variability observed, together with its wide distribution and phenetic variability, suggest that P. geniculatus is a species complex comprising at least two distinct species.Considering the entire subfamily, the level of cytogenetic variation in Panstrongylus is lower than that observed in Triatoma but considerably more than that of Rhodnius, which is a very homogenous genus in terms of chromosome appearance and behaviour. This would endorse the closer relationship between Panstrongylus and Triatoma, and their divergence from Rhodnius, in accordance with current tribal classification.  相似文献

Panstrongylus species are widely distributed throughout the Americas, where they act as vectors of Trypanosoma cruzi, agent of Chagas disease. Their intraspecific relationships, taxonomic position and phylogeny in relation to other Triatomini were explored using ribosomal DNA (rDNA) internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS-2) sequence polymorphisms and maximum parsimony, distance and maximum likelihood analyses of 10 populations representing six species of the genus (P. megistus, P. geniculatus, P. rufotuberculatus, P. lignarius, P. herreri and P. chinai). At the subspecific level, P. megistus appeared more homogeneous than P. rufotuberculatus and P. geniculatus (both with broader distribution). Several dinucleotide microsatellites were detected in the sequences of given species. Many of these microsatellites (GC, TA, GT and AT) showed different number of repeats in different populations and thus, may be very useful for population differentiation and dynamics analyses in future studies. The sequences of P. lignarius (considered sylvatic) and P. herreri (a major disease vector in Peru) were identical, suggesting that these species should be synonymised. Intrageneric analysis showed a clear separation of P. rufotuberculatus, with closest relationships between P. geniculatus and P. chinai, and P. megistus occupying a separate branch. Genetic distances between Panstrongylus species (0.11585-0.22131) were higher than those between Panstrongylus and other Triatomini (16 species from central and North America and South America) (0.08617-0.11039). The distance between P. megistus and P. lignarius/herreri (0.22131) was the largest so far recorded in the tribe. The pronounced differences in length and nucleotide composition suggest a relatively old divergence of Panstrongylus species. P. rufotuberculatus was closer to Mesoamerican Triatoma, Meccus and Dipetalogaster species than to other Panstrongylus. All Panstrongylus clustered with the Mesoamerican clade; P. rufotuberculatus clustered with the phyllosoma complex and T. dimidiata, with D. maxima and T. barberi in a basal position. The rest of Panstrongylus appeared paraphyletically in the tree. This is evidence suggesting polyphyly within the genus Panstrongylus, whose species may be related to the ancestors giving rise to central and North American Triatomini.  相似文献

INTRODUCTION: Lutzomyia intermedia s. s. and L. neivai, usually considered as belonging to just one species, constitute a complex of species. The measurements of several anatomical structures of specimens of both groups, from Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Bolivia were analysed. METHOD: Thirty-nine structures were measured in specimens of both sexes, using a graduated ocular, analysing comparisons by analyses of variance (ANOVA). RESULTS: A significant deviation in the proportions of females and males showing each palpal formula and the influence of the region of origin of the flies were verified. Labrum and maxilary palps were longer in females and Antennomere III was longer of males. Several significant differences in the measurements of wings were noted, most of them greater in females. The proportion of spermathecae with simple heads was significantly greater in L. neivai than in L. intermedia. Significant differences in the length of genital pump and filaments between the species were also noted. DISCUSSION: The variation in the palpal formulae in both sexes show the risk of the use of this formula for the association between specimens of the two sexes. The differences in the lengths of palps and labrum between the sexes could be related to female blood feeding. The possible biological significance of the sexual differential relation length/width of wings is commented on. The different proportions of females of the two species with each spermathecae head shape may help in identification. The differences in the lengths of genital pumps and filaments and the relation between them could help in the identification of males, which is still difficult.  相似文献

In 1999, an aerial application of VectoLex WDG (water-dispersible granules) at 1.68 and 0.56 kg/ha, applied against sentinel 3rd-stage larvae of Psorophora columbiae installed in 0.42-ha rice plots 48 h after treatment, provided no control at 72 and 96 h after treatment. Less than 10% reduction was obtained at both rates 8 and 9 days after treatment against larvae of Ps. columbiae installed at 7 days after treatment. In a later test, VectoLex WDG manually applied at 5.04 and 1.68 kg/ha to small rice plots containing sentinel 3rd-stage larvae of Ps. columbiae and Anopheles quadrimaculatus obtained 90 and 97% control of Ps. columbiae at both rates, respectively, 24 h after treatment. A 2nd installation of Ps. columbiae at 24 h after treatment resulted in 7% and no control at both rates, respectively, even in the presence of larval carcasses from the 1st installation. VectoLex WDG was not effective against Ps. columbiae after 24 h atter treatment at either rate. Poor control was obtained at both rates against An. quadrimaculatus 24 h and 48 h after treatment for both installations. Two types of commercial rice fields containing native populations of larvae of An. quadrimaculatus were used for field tests in Cleveland, MS. In 1999, VectoLex WDG, aerially applied at 1.68 and 0.56 kg/ha to 0.2-ha plots in a contoured rice field, produced 81 and 85% reductions in early (neonate and 1st- and 2nd-stage) larvae and 94 and 76% reductions in late (3rd- and 4th-stage) larvae 2 days after treatment, respectively. At 2 days after treatment, means for all 4 developmental groupings (early larvae, late larvae, pupae, and combined stages) were significantly higher in untreated plots. Both VectoLex WDG rates did not differ significantly from one another. At 8 days after treatment, untreated plots contained significantly greater mean numbers of early larvae, late larvae, and combined stages, whereas both VectoLex WDG treatments were not significantly different. In 2000, VectoLex WDG applied at 1.68 kg/ha to two 0.40-ha plots in a precision-leveled field yielded 59 and 100% reductions of early and late larvae, respectively, 2 days after treatment. Reduction of late larvae remained 100% at 8 days after treatment. The numbers of late larvae, pupae, and combined stages were significantly greater in the untreated plot 2 days after treatment. At 8 days after treatment, numbers of early larvae and combined stages were significantly higher in the VectoLex WDG plot, whereas numbers of late larvae were significantly higher in the untreated plot. The differences in susceptibility of Ps. columbiae and An. quadrimaculatus to VectoLex WDG could be attributed to species differences in larval feeding behavior, body positioning in the water column, and developmental time. In tests in Arkansas, Ps. columbiae were controlled more quickly, usually within 24 h of exposure, whereas the percent reduction for An. quadrimaculatus in both tests in Cleveland, MS, suggests that control of this species within the region tested required from 48 h up to 8 days of exposure.  相似文献

The population structure of strains of Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis sensu lato from Pará State and Paraná State in Brazil, of L. (V.) shawi and L. (Leishmania) amazonensis from Pará State, and the relationships of type strains of the subgenera L. (Viannia) and L. (Leishmania) were examined by the random-amplified polymorphic deoxyribonucleic acid (RAPD) technique. Four different primers (M13-40, QG1, L15996 and delta gt11R) were used. The bands were analysed using the neighbor-joining (NJ) and unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic averages (UPGMA) algorithms of the MEGA package. The topology of the NJ and UPGMA trees was very similar but they were not always identical. Both trees differentiated the standard strains of the different species. Strains from the same location were grouped together only in the UPGMA phenogram of the M13-40 primer. L. (V.) braziliensis isolates from Paraná State were genetically closer to those from Paragominas, Pará State than to those from the Amazonian regions of Carajás in Pará State and Peru. The relationship was not dependent on geographical distance. It is postulated that the groups arose from different origins, in which the Amazonian stocks were related to Psychodopygus sand flies while the Paraná strains originated from a gene pool transmitted by Lutzomyia sand flies such as Lutzomyia (Nyssomyia) whitmani. Transmission by Ps. complexus in Paragominas is considered to be a secondary adaptation from the Lutzomyia leishmanial gene pool. Although the vectors of L. (V.) braziliensis are poorly known in the Amazon region, there is strong evidence that the major vectors are all Psychodopygus spp. There was a high degree of genetic variability amongst the L. (V.) shawi strains and there was no clear grouping according to the strains' origins. The genetic variability amongst L. (L.) amazonensis strains from the same locations was much lower but they formed 2 groups which coincided with their origin. Our results support the clonal population structure of Leishmania isolates and suggest that their distribution is related to the origin of the gene pool as well as to present vector and reservoir movements.  相似文献

At least 3 different parasites may produce cutaneous leishmaniasis in man in Brazil. Leishmania mexicana amazonensis is widely distributed and very common in wild animals, but rarely infects man because the vector is not anthropophilic. L. braziliensis guyanensis and L. braziliensis braziliensis have highly anthropophilic vectors and are thus the major causes of the disease in man.Infections with Leishmania b. braziliensis are described in 17 persons from an endemic area in the Serra dos Carajás, Pará, north Brazil. A nearby Indian tribe (Xikrín) was examined and leishmanin skin-tests carried out on 116 individuals. No evidence of past or present infection was found, but strong positive reactions were noted in 83·9% adult males, 38·8% adult females, 14·3% male children and 4·8% female children.A total of 2,701 man-biting and rodent-biting sandflies were dissected and the guts examined for flagellates. Promastigotes were found in 3 out of 1,656 Psychodopygus wellcomei, 2 out of 175 Ps. paraensis and 1 out of 127 Ps. amazonensis. Hamsters inoculated with promastigotes from one Ps. wellcomei developed a typical L. b. braziliensis infection. The importance of sandflies of the genus Psychodopygus is stressed: Ps. wellcomei is of particular importance due to its tendency to bite man during the day and the fact that it is attracted to both man and rodents in large numbers.Nearly all the sandflies were caught at ground level. The absence of a large, arboreal population of man-biters suggests that the reservoir-hosts of L. b. braziliensis are likely to be terrestrial or frequently coming to the ground.  相似文献

The Enterobiinae includes 47 species of pinworms parasite of primates. A previous cladistic analysis of this subfamily supported its monophyly and its subdivision into three genera. Based on morphological characters, this cladistic analysis excluded characters describing the shape of the genital papillae of male pinworms, because the corresponding patterns could not be described using discrete characters. In this study, the shape of the genital papillae of the males of 35 within the 47 species is analyzed using geometric morphometric approaches. The aims of this study are to investigate: (i) the relationships between the phylogeny and the shape patterns of the caudal bursa, (ii) the shape differences between and within monophyletic groups, and (iii) the functional implications of the shape patterns observed within the subfamily. Results demonstrate that different patterns of evolution of the caudal bursa, each one characterized by a particular spatial distribution of the phasmids and genital papillae may be recognized, which are consistent with the classification of the Enterobiinae into three groups. On the whole, these patterns may be related to particular mating behavior of the pinworms. When incongruence is observed between shape patterns distribution and species distribution into monophyletic groups, they are found to correspond to homoplasic events. This suggests that convergent selective pressures are involved in the evolution of the shape of the genital papillae. This analysis also confirms that morphometric shape patterns cannot be interpreted unequivocally without the support of a pre-existing phylogenetic framework.  相似文献

Studies on the vertical stratification of phlebotomine sandfly fauna were conducted in a non-flooded primary forest at a Tropical Forest Experimental Station of the National Institute of Amazonian Research from October 1998 to March 1999. CDC light traps were placed at one, 10, and 20 meters above ground. A total of 2,859 sandflies were captured, belonging to the Lutzomyia (99.93%) and Brumtomyia (0.07%) genera, represented by 38 species. In the Lutzomyia gender, the most frequent sub-gender was Nyssomyia (43.4%), followed by Psychodopygus (22.8%). Lutzomyia umbratilis, L. anduzei, L. rorotaensis, L. trichopyga, and L. olmeca nociva predominated at one meter above ground, while L. davisi, L. infraspinosa, L. umbratilis, L. trichopyga, and L. anduzei predominated at 10 meters. L. anduzei, L. tuberculata, L. dendrophyla, and L. dreisbachi were the most abundant species at 20 meters. L. umbratilis, which appeared at all three levels of vertical stratification, has great epidemic significance as a vector of Leishmania (Viannia) guyanensis.  相似文献

This study investigated the possibility of using aerial color infrared (CIR) photography as a survey technique for egg populations of Psorophora columbiae within a riceland agroecosystem. To accomplish this, eight photographic missions were flown over study fields during a variety of seasons and at various altitudes. Assessment of resulting photographic data indicates features reported in the literature as being attractive for oviposition by Ps. columbiae (i.e., rice field levees, tire tracks, ditches and low areas) can be readily detected on aerial CIR photographs. Features associated with Ps. columbiae oviposition sites were easily visible on photographs at scales as small as 1:42,000.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Lactic acid production is considered to be the major protection mechanism of lactobacilli against vaginal infections due to genital pathogens. Some species of Lactobacillus are also hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) producers. Nonoxynol-9 (N-9) is a nonionic detergent and is the active component of many spermicidal preparations. It immobilizes sperm by disrupting the cell membrane and is believed to act similarly on a number of bacteria and viruses. It is known that N-9 inhibits Lactobacilli in vitro at concentrations of 0.1% to 1%. PURPOSE: The present study was conducted to identify the species of Lactobacillus isolated from vaginal fluids of reproductive-age women and to characterize the H(2)O(2)-producing and N-9-resistant strains in an Argentine population. RESULTS: We identified Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. fermentum, L. gasseri, L. jensenii, L. casei subsp. casei, L. brevis and L. delbrueckii subsp. delbrueckii as the most frequent species. In this Argentine, South American population, 62% of women had H(2)O(2)-producing vaginal lactobacilli. We found a high number of sensitive strains. Sixty-two H(2)O(2)-producer strains were detected, 50 (80.6%) strains were sensitive to N-9 and 12 (19.4%) strains were resistant to the inhibitory effect of N-9. DISCUSSION: The vaginal microecologic findings are comparable to those found in other populations and suggest that (1) vaginal microecologic conditions are likely to be similar among Argentine women as in other countries, and (2) N-9 may have deleterious effects as in other populations.  相似文献

During the past decade, the rice agroecosystem and its associated mosquitoes have been the subject of an extensive research effort directed toward the development and implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. The objective of this work was to synthesize the literature and unpublished data on the rice agroecosystem into a comprehensive simulation model of the key elements of the system known to influence the population dynamics of Psorophora columbiae. Subsequent companion papers will present a validation of these models, provide an in-depth analysis of the population dynamics of Ps. columbiae, and evaluate current and proposed IPM strategies for this mosquito. This paper describes the development of 2 models: WaterMod: Because spatial and temporal distributions of surface water and soil moisture play a decisive role in the dynamics of Ps. columbiae, an essentially hydrological simulator was developed. Its purpose is to provide environmental inputs for a second model (PcSim) which simulates the population dynamics of Ps. columbiae. WaterMod utilizes data on weather, agricultural practices, and soil characteristics for a particular region to generate a data set containing daily estimates of soil moisture and depth of water table for 12 representative areas comprising the rice agroecosystem. This model could be used to provide hydrologic inputs for additional simulation models of other riceland mosquito species. PcSim: This model simulates the population dynamics of Ps. columbiae by using the computer to maintain a daily accounting of the absolute number of mosquitoes within each daily age class for each life stage. The model creates estimates of the number of eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults for a representative l-ha area of a rice agroecosystem.  相似文献

The sand fly fauna in Itatiaia National Park, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was investigated in different habitats ranging from sylvatic areas to those altered by human activity related to ecotourism, specifically identifying species that have been suggested as potential leishmaniasis vectors. Sand flies were captured from June 2002 to March 2004, using CDC light traps and Shannon traps. A total of 1,256 sand fly specimens were captured, from species belonging to genera Lutzomyia and Brumptomyia: Brumptomyia guimaraesi, B. troglodytes, Lutzomyia (Lutzomyia) amarali, L. lanei, L. migonei, L. sallesi, L. edwardsi, L. tupynambai, L. (Pintomyia) pessoai, L. (P.) bianchigalatie, L. rupicola, L. (Psathyromyia) shannoni, L. pascalei, L. (Psychodopygus) matosi, L. (P.) davisi, L. (P.) hirsuta hirsuta, L. (P.) ayrozai, L. peresi, L. monticola, and L. misionensis. Worthy of special attention were four species that are considered potential vectors for cutaneous leishmaniasis in Brazil: L. ayrozai, L. hirsuta hirsuta, L. migonei, and L. davisi, representing 19.19% of the specimens captured in this study.  相似文献

The results of a field test conducted in cooperation with the Jefferson Davis Parish Mosquito Abatement District (JDPMAD) during 1988 in southwestern Louisiana suggested that the biweekly treatment of cattle with permethrin reduced the number of adult Psorophora columbiae in nearby areas. Routine mosquito control operations by JDPMAD were similar from 1987 to 1988 in the cattle-treated area but increased an average of 41% in control areas. In spite of this, during the year of cattle treatment, captures in New Jersey light traps averaged 86 and 26% of the previous 4-year average in control and treated areas, respectively. Similarly, the proportion of trap nights in 1988 when Ps. columbiae captures exceeded 500 averaged 73 and 30% of the previous 4-year average in control and treated areas, respectively. Simulation model projections that took into account differences in JDPMAD operations, weather, cattle density, agricultural practices and the presence of treated cattle were accurate within an average of 9% of observed values for the treated and control areas. The simulation studies indicated that the treatment of cattle with permethrin reduced Ps. columbiae populations by 83%. These results suggest that host management may be a viable method for suppressing populations of Ps. columbiae and that some form of host management be considered for inclusion in integrated control programs in this environment. Further evaluation of this concept is warranted.  相似文献

Extensive sampling (450 grabs) was performed all over the inner part of Puck Bay (105 km2 area) in summers of 2007–2009. The GIS-based analysis of samples was performed to assess in detail the distribution of 32 benthic species. The minimum area of occurrence was less than 1 km2 for Lekanosphaera rugicauda and the maximum was 83 km2 for Cerastoderma glaucum. The material reveals that species with the pelagic larval stage were most widespread, with the least distance between individuals and the highest average density (e.g. Cerastoderma glaucum, Hydrobia ventrosa). The most isolated and the least dense species within the studied area were discretely mobile, non-larval crustaceans (e.g. Gammarus oceanicus and Lekanosphaera rugicauda), present at single sites with the largest distance from each other. We conclude that analysis of species distribution helps in understanding the threats to populations of marine invertebrates and marine spatial planning, through locating the isolated species and populations.  相似文献

目的:对广州地区解脲脲原体(Uu)在不同女性人群的检测结果及其对抗生素的敏感性进行分析,为临床合理应用抗生素治疗其感染提供依据。方法:采集生殖道炎症患者及健康体检女性两组人群的生殖道分泌物标本,用法国生物梅里埃公司IST2试剂盒进行Uu培养、鉴定和药敏试验,结合临床资料,对两组人群的Uu检测结果进行分析。结果:Uu阳性率生殖道炎症组为38.7%,健康体检组为33.5%,两组阳性率差异无统计学意义(P>0.05),且Uu在各年龄段女性定植无差异;生殖道炎症组Uu≥104 CFU/ml的例数明显高于健康体检组,两组Uu≥104 CFU/ml检出率比较差异有统计学意义(P<0.01);药敏结果显示除环丙沙星和氧氟沙星外,其余抗生素对Uu均有较好的抗菌活性(敏感性均>70%)。结论:Uu为女性生殖道常见寄生物,应慎重判断其致病性,合理应用抗生素治疗其感染。  相似文献

In order to identify intra- and extra-domiciliary triatomines, a study in different counties of Corrientes Province, Argentina, was conducted from 1985 to 1995. Triatoma infestans (Klug, 1834), Triatoma sordida (St?l, 1859), Panstrongylus geniculatus (Latreille, 1811), and Panstrongylus megistus (Burmeister, 1835) were detected in domestic ecotopes. T. infestans and T. sordida were also found in the peridomicile. Triatoma platensis (Neiva, 1913), Psammolestes coreodes (Bergroth, 1911), T. sordida, and Triatoma rubrovaria (Blanchard, 1843) were collected in sylvatic biotopes. T. infestans was confirmed as the predominant species in the domestic environment and was the only species infected with Trypanosoma cruzi-like parasites. T. sordida was most frequent in extra-domiciliary ecotopes, but could be considered capable of colonizing human dwellings.  相似文献

Simultaneous ground and aerial adulticide applications were evaluated against riceland mosquitoes in Stuttgart, AR, during July 1985. Naled was aerially applied at 52.6 ml/ha over 10.4 km2 surrounding the city. Ground ULV applications of a mixture of malathion, HAN and resmethrin/PBO (1:1:0.0625) were applied within the city at a rate of 221.8 ml/min at 24 kph. Adult populations of Anopheles quadrimaculatus and Psorophora columbiae were reduced at 24 hr but resurgence of Ps. columbiae was evident at 48 hr posttreatment. Posttreatment data indicated that movement of both mosquitoes occurred along the path of prevailing wind.  相似文献

In an earlier paper, the development of 2 simulation models designed to describe the interaction between key elements of the rice agroecosystem and the population dynamics of Psorophora columbiae were presented (Focks et al. 1988a). The objective of the work reported herein was to validate these models with field data. The first model (WaterMod) predicts soil hydrology conditions as a function of weather, agricultural practices, and soil characteristics for a variety of habitats found within the rice agroecosystem which are utilized by Ps. columbiae. Using a continuous series of hydrologic data collected in southwestern Louisiana during 1984 and 1985, WaterMod was demonstrated capable of adequately predicting runoff rates and the temporal timing of soil moisture and surface water. The second model (PcSim) simulates the population dynamics of Ps. columbiae based upon a host of variables including the output from WaterMod. This model was validated by comparisons made with density estimates from the literature on the temporal and spatial distribution of various life stages and by correspondence with light trap data gathered during the same time and location as the hydrologic data. PcSim was seen to respond appropriately to host animal densities and unusual meterological events occurring during 1984 and 1985 in southern Louisiana. A discussion is presented of the interaction between agricultural practices and certain key factors of the life history strategy of Ps. columbiae which permit the unusually successful exploitation of the rice agroecosystem by this species. Cattle are the primary host for the major pest mosquito Psorophora columbiae in the rice production region of the Gulf-south. Annual captures of Ps. columbiae, Anopheles crucians and An. quadrimaculatus in New Jersey light traps in Acadia Parish in 1984 were correlated with cattle density within 0.8 km of the trap (R2 = 97, 68 and 74%, respectively). Furthermore, 7 of 10 mosquito species commonly trapped were significantly correlated with cattle density (average R2 = 82%). This work documents host abundance as a key factor in the population dynamics and distribution of most of the important riceland mosquitoes.  相似文献
