Summary The present study was designed to evaluate the specificity of physiological adaptation to extra endurance training in five female competitive walkers and six female distance runners. The mean velocity ( ) during training, corresponding to 4 mM blood lactate [onset of blood lactate accumulation (OBLA)] during treadmill incremental exercise (training was 2.86 m·s–1 SD 0.21 in walkers and 4.02 m·s–1, SD 0.11 in runners) was added to their normal training programme and was performed for 20 min, 6 days a week for 8 weeks, and was called extra training. An additional six female distance runners performed only their normal training programme every day for about 120 min at an exercise intensity equivalent to their lactate threshold (LT) (i.e. a running of about 3.33 m·s–1). After the extra training, there were statistically significant increases in blood lactate variables (i.e. oxygen uptake ( O2) at LT, at LT, O2 at OBLA, at OBLA; P<0.05), and running F for 3,000m (P<0.01) in the running training group. In the walking training group, there were significant increases in blood lactate variables (i.e., at LT, at OBLA; P<0.05), and walking economy. In contrast, there were no significant changes in lactate variables, running and economy in the group of runners which carried out only the normal training programme. It is suggested that the changes in blood lactate variables such as LT and OBLA played a role in improving F of both the distance runners and the competitive walkers. Furthermore, the significant improvement in walking economy brought about by extra endurance training might be a specific phenomenon for competitive walkers compared to runners.  相似文献

To investigate the effects of replacing a portion of endurance training by strength training on exercise performance, 14 competitive cyclists were divided into an experimental (E; n=6) and a control (C; n=8) group. Both groups received a training program of 9 weeks. The total training volume for both groups was the same [E: 8.8 (1.1) h/week; C: 8.9 (1.7) h/week], but 37% of training for E consisted of explosive-type strength training, whilst C received endurance training only. Simulated time trial performance (TT), short-term performance (STP), maximal workload ( ) and gross (GE) and delta efficiency (DE) were measured before, after 4 weeks and at the end of the training program (9 weeks). No significant group-by-training effects for the markers of endurance performance (TT and ) were found after 9 weeks, although after 4 weeks, these markers had only increased (P<0.05) in E. STP decreased (P<0.05) in C, whereas no changes were observed in E. For DE, a significant group-by-training interaction (P<0.05) was found, and for GE the group-by-training interaction was not significant. It is concluded that replacing a portion of endurance training by explosive strength training prevents a decrease in STP without compromising gains in endurance performance of trained cyclists. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of endurance training on the ventilatory response to acute incremental exercise in elite cyclists. Fifteen male elite cyclists [mean (SD) age 24.3 (3.3) years, height 179 (6) cm, body mass 71.1 (7.6) kg, maximal oxygen consumption (O2max) 69 (7) ml · min−1 · kg−1] underwent two exercise tests on a cycle ergometer. The first test was assessed in December, 6 weeks before the beginning of the cycling season. The second test was performed in June, in the middle of the season. During this period the subjects were expected to be in a highly endurance-trained state. The ventilatory response was assessed during an incremental exercise test (20 W · min−1). Oxygen consumption (O2), carbon dioxide production (CO2), minute ventilation ( E), and heart rate (HR) were assessed at the following points during the test: at workloads of 200 W, 250 W, 300 W, 350 W, 400 W and at the subject's maximal workload, at a respiratory exchange ratio (R) of 1, and at the ventilatory threshold (Thvent) determined using the V-slope-method. Post-training, the mean (SD) O2max was increased from the pre-training level of 69 (7) ml · min−1 · kg−1 (range 61.4–78.6) to 78 (6) ml · min−1 · kg−1 (range 70.5–86.3). The mean post-training O2 was significantly higher than the pre training value (P < 0.01) at all work rates, at Thvent and at R=1. O2 was also higher at all work rates except for 200 W and 250 W. E was significantly higher at Thvent and R=1. Training had no effect on HR at all workloads examined. An explanation for the higher O2 cost for the same work rate may be that in the endurance-trained state, the adaptation to an exercise stimulus with higher intensity is faster than for the less-trained state. Another explanation may be that at the same work rate, in the less-endurance-trained state power is generated using a significantly higher anaerobic input. The results of this study suggest the following practical recommendations for training management in elite cyclists: (1) the O2 for a subject at the same work rate may be an indicator of the endurance-trained state (i.e., the higher the O2, the higher the endurance-trained capacity), and (2) the need for multiple exercise tests for determining the HR at Thvent during a cycling season is doubtful since at Thvent this parameter does not differ much following endurance training. Elastic properties of muscle-tendon complex in long-distance runners   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
The purpose of this study was to investigate the elastic properties of muscle-tendon complex (MTC) in knee extensor muscles and the capacity for elastic energy utilization in long-distance runners (LDR) by comparing with data obtained from untrained individuals (CON). The elongation (L) of the tendon and aponeurosis of vastus lateralis muscle during isometric knee extension was determined by real-time brightness mode ultrasonography, while the subjects developed a gradually increasing torque from 0 (relaxed) to maximal effort (MVC) within 7 s. In addition, performances in two kinds of maximal vertical jumps, i.e. squatting (SJ) and counter-movement jumps (CMJ), were measured. The relationship between L muscle and force (F ) was curvilinear and consisted of an initial region (toe region), characterized by a large increase in L with increasing F, immediately followed by a linear region. The slope of the regression equation for the L-F relationship in the range 50%–100% of MVC was defined as an index of MTC compliance, where the rate of the changes in L to that in muscle F at every 10% of MVC became almost constant. The maximal L (L max) and MTC compliance were significantly lower in LDR than in CON: 29.9 (SD 3.9) mm in LDR compared to 33.3 (SD 5.5) mm in CON for L max and 1.55 (SD 0.25) × 10−2 mm · N−1 in LDR compared to 1.88 (SD 0.82) × 10−2 mm · N−1 in CON for MTC compliance. Also, LDR showed significantly less elastic energy absorption (E e) than CON, defined as the area below the L-F relationship curve from 0 to 100% of MVC. Not only jump heights but also the differences between the heights in SJ and CMJ, expressed as the percentage of the height in SJ, were significantly lower in LDR than in CON. The augmentation with counter-movement was significantly correlated to either MTC compliance (r = 0.554, P < 0.05) or E e (r = 0.563, P < 0.05). Thus, the present results would indicate that MTC of vastus lateralis muscle is less compliant and its potential for energy storage during MTS lengthening is lower in LDR than untrained individuals. When measured in vivo electromechanical delay (EMD) depends mainly on the elastic properties of the muscle–tendon unit. Recent studies have shown changes in stiffness of the triceps surae (TS) following a period of training. To confirm the influence of musculo-tendinous stiffness on EMD, this study investigates paired changes in these two parameters after a training period. Two types of training known to induce opposite changes in stiffness were analysed. EMD and musculo-tendinous stiffness were measured on adult subjects before and after 10 weeks of endurance (n = 21) or plyometric (n = 9) trainings. EMD was defined as the time lag between the TS M-wave latency and the onset of muscle twitch evoked at rest by supramaximal electrical stimulations of the posterior tibial nerve. Quick release tests were used to evaluate the musculo-tendinous stiffness of the ankle plantar flexors. The stiffness index was defined as the slope of the relationship between angular stiffness and external torque values. Endurance training, known to preferentially activate the slow, stiffer muscle fibers, leads to a decrease in EMD and to an increase in stiffness index. Following plyometric training, which specifically recruits fast, more compliant fibers, EMD and the stiffness index exhibited adaptations directionally opposite to those seen with endurance training. When pooling the data for the two subject groups, a correlation was found between changes in EMD and changes in musculo-tendinous stiffness indexes. Thus, changes in EMD values are proposed to indirectly link to changes in musculo-tendinous stiffness for subjects involved in muscle training.  相似文献

Summary The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between several physical fitness parameters and eyesight divided into 3 grades in visually handicapped boys and young male adults, and to investigate the effect of mild exercise training on physical and psychic symptoms as well as cardiorespiratory fitness. Four subjects were totally blind (TB), 6 were semi-blind (SB) and 27 had amblyopia (AM). Physical fitness tests consisted of maximal oxygen uptake (V O 2max), maximal pedalling speed and power, maximal stepping rate, and isometric knee extention strength. Compared with AM and SB groups, the TB group was inferior in all physical fitness parameters. Especially,V O 2max in TB (26 ml · kg–1 · min–1) was about 56% of that in agematched Japanese sighted subjects and was significantly low compared with the AM and SB groups. Both muscle strength and maximal pedalling power corresponded to about 50% that of the age-matched sighted group. Six SB and 4 TB students (¯x=17.7 years) were trained for 6 weeks on a bicycle ergometer at an intensity of 50%V O 2max. Training was undertaken for 3 days per week and maintained for 60 min per session. After training, physical and psychic symptoms determined by the Cornell Medical Index improved significantly. These results indicate that low physical work capacity in visually handicapped boys and young male adults is due to the lack of physical activity, and that mild endurance training is effective in improving physical and psychic symptoms as well as cardiorespiratory fitness.  相似文献

We evaluated the effects of testosterone overload on mitochondrial superoxide dismutase (MnSOD), cytochrome oxidase (COX) and citrate synthase (CS) activities of the rat superficial gastrocnemius both in non-exercised muscle and following moderate endurance training. Basal (bLPO) and stimulated (sLPO) lipid peroxidation was measured as an index of oxidative tissue damage. Furthermore, to assess the relationship between exercise and testosterone-induced metabolic adaptations and contractile protein expression, the distribution of myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoforms was analysed by SDS-PAGE. Samples were obtained from: controls (C), rats treated with testosterone propionate (Tp) (TP, 5 mg kg–1 i.m. 6 days/week), trained rats (E, 5 days/week) and rats trained and treated with Tp (ETP). MnSOD significantly increased in E and TP in comparison with C and ETP. Training induced a significant increase in COX activity both in E and ETP whereas a statistical reduction was observed in TP in comparison with the other groups. Moreover, testosterone administration was associated with a significant reduction in CS activity which significantly increased in ETP. A reduction in lipid peroxidation was observed in E and ETP in comparison with controls both in basal and stimulated conditions, whereas TP showed a significant increase of bLPO. In trained rats enzymatic changes were correlated with an increase in the proportion of fast oxidative MHC-2A and MHC-2X with decrease of the proportion of fast MHC-2B. In contrast, Tp treatment induced an increase in the proportion of MHC-2B whereas MHC-2A and MHC-2X disappeared. Finally, ETP showed a reduction in MHC-2B and an increase in MHC-1 and MHC-2X. These data suggest that testosterone supplementation seems not to significantly modify the metabolic adaptation induced by exercise in gastrocnemius muscle. Furthermore, testosterone overload to non-exercised rats seems to reduce the mitochondrial function and increase the lipid peroxidation of the muscle. Electronic Publication  相似文献

Summary Eleven laboratory-pretrained subjects (initial =54 ml·kg−1·min−1) took part in a study to evaluate the effect of a short endurance training programme [8–12 sessions, 1 h per session, with an intensity varying from 60% to 90% maximal oxygen consumption ] on the responses of blood ammonia (b[NH 4 + ]) and lactate (b[la]) concentrations during progressive and constant exercise intensities. After training, during which did not increase, significant decreases in b[NH 4 + ], b[la] and muscle proton concentration were observed at the end of the 80% constant exercise intensity, although b[NH 4 + ] and b[la] during progressive exercise were unchanged. On the other hand, no correlations were found between muscle fibre composition and b[NH 4 + ] in any of the exercise procedures. This study demonstrated that a constant exercise intensity was necessary to reveal the effect of training on muscle metabolic changes inducing the decrease in b[NH 4 + ] and b[la]. At a relative power of exercise of 80% , there was no effect of muscle fibre composition on b[NH 4 + ] accumulation.  相似文献

The effect of intermittent high-intensity training on the activity of enzymes involved in purine metabolism and on the concentration of plasma purines following acute short-term intense exercise was investigated. Eleven subjects performed sprint training three times per week for 6 weeks. Muscle biopsies for determination of enzyme activities were obtained prior to and 24 h after the training period. After training, the activity of adenosine 5′-phosphate (AMP) deaminase was lower (P < 0.001) whereas the activities of hypoxanthine phosphoribosyl transferase (HPRT) and phosphofructokinase were significantly higher compared with pre-training levels. The higher activity of HPRT with training suggests an improved potential for rephosphorylation of intracellular hypoxanthine to inosine monophosphate (IMP) in the trained muscle. Before and after the training period the subjects performed four independent 2-min tests at intensities from a mean of 106 to 135 % of Vomax. Venous blood was drawn prior to and after each test. The accumulation of plasma hypoxanthine following the four tests was lower following training compared with prior to training (P < 0.05). The accumulation of uric acid was significantly lower (46% of pre-training value) after the test performed at 135% of Fo2mM (P < 0.05). Based on the observed alterations in muscle enzyme activities and plasma purine accumulation, it is suggested that high intensity intermittent training leads to a lower release of purines from muscle to plasma following intense exercise and, thus, a reduced loss of muscle nucleotides.  相似文献

The effect of 6-week endurance training on mitochondrial ATP production rate was investigated in 14 elderly men. Mean age, body weight and height were 63±6yr, 75.6 ± 9.2 kg and 174±4cm, respectively. Subjects trained on a Monark cycle ergometer at 79 ± 8% of their maximal heart rate for 1 h day-1, 4 days week-1. Muscle samples were obtained at rest, before and after endurance training, by a needle biopsy technique and used for determination of mitochondrial ATP production rate in isolated mitochondria and enzyme assays. Endurance training resulted in a significant increase in maximal oxygen uptake (L min-1) (P < 0.01). Citrate synthase activity, a mitochondrial marker enzyme, and hexokinase activity increased significantly (both P < 0.01) in response to training while 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase and carnitine palmitoyltransferase I activities remained statistically unchanged. A higher mitochondrial ATP production rate was observed after endurance training with the substrate combinations pyruvate ± palmitoyl-L-carnitine + L-glutamate + malate (P < 0.01), L-glutamate (P < 0.001), pyruvate + malate (P < 0.05) and palmitoyl-L-carnitine + malate (P < 0.01). The largest increase was obtained with L-glutamate (170%). Significant correlations were observed between the percent increase in citrate synthase activity and those of mitochondrial ATP production rates. It was concluded that the increased mitochondrial ATP production rate of aged human skeletal muscle with training seems mainly to occur through an increased mitochondrial content, and in a way similar to those observed in young men.  相似文献

This study investigated the effect of strength training, endurance training, and combined strength plus endurance training on fibre-type transitions, fibre cross-sectional area (CSA) and MHC isoform content of the vastus lateralis muscle. Forty volunteers (24 males and 16 females) were randomly assigned to one of four groups: control (C), endurance training (E), strength training (S), or concurrent strength and endurance training (SE). The S and E groups each trained three times a week for 12 weeks; the SE group performed the same S and E training on alternate days. The development of knee extensor muscle strength was S>SE>E (P<0.05) and has been reported elsewhere. The reduction in knee extensor strength development in SE as compared to S corresponded to a 6% increase in MHCIIa content (P<0.05) in SE at the expense of the faster MHCIId(x) isoform (P<0.05), as determined by electrophoretic analyses; reductions in MHCIId/x content after S or E training were attenuated by comparison. Both S and SE induced three- to fourfold reductions (P<0.05) in the proportion of type IIA/IID(X) hybrid fibres. S also induced fourfold increases in the proportion of type I/IIA hybrid fibres within both genders, and in a population of fibres expressing a type I/IID(X) hybrid phenotype within the male subjects. Type I/IIA hybrid fibres were not detected after SE. Both S and SE training paradigms induced similar increases (16–19%, P<0.05) in the CSA of type IIA fibres. In contrast, the increase in CSA of type I fibres was 2.9-fold greater (P<0.05) in S as compared to SE after 12 weeks. We conclude that the interference of knee extensor strength development in SE versus S was related to greater fast-to-slow fibre-type transitions and attenuated hypertrophy of type I fibres. Summary Tendon (T-) and Hoffmann (H-) responses in the soleus muscle were quantified either separately or in association to compare the mononeurons activated and to study their changes after a period of endurance training. In a first experiment T- and H-responses of the same amplitude were compared: the electrical stimulus (inducing the H-response) and the Achilles tendon tap (inducing the T-response) were associated so that the T-response firstly was concomitant with the H-response, and secondly shifted 10 ms forward or back compared to the H-response. From the study of these combined reflexes we would suggest that the same motoneurons are involved in T- or H-responses of the same amplitude. In a second experiment the maximal H-responses, the T-responses and maximal aerobic power (W aer,max) were measured on 20 subjects before and after a period of endurance training. For 75% of the subjects the W aer,max and the reflex parameters (T or H) varied in the same direction: most of them exhibited higher values of both W aer,max and reflex amplitudes while the others had W aer,max and reflex values hardly modified or decreased. The different effects of the training period could reflect the heterogeneity of the subject's status and involvement in sport. In most cases the T: Hmax ratios were also influenced, reflecting the fact that T- and H-responses were not identically affected by training. Thus it is suggested that an endurance training programme can influence not only the excitability of the motoneurons but also the response of the muscle receptors to stretch. An interpretation in terms of a change of spindle receptivity and/or a change in their recruitment due to a greater stiffness of the trained muscles is suggested.  相似文献

Summary Changes in the testosterone concentrations after single sessions of endurance and strength training were measured in seven well trained men, experienced in both forms of training. Both training sessions were rated as hard to very hard on the Borg scale. Blood samples for testosterone measurements were taken before, immediately after, and 2, 4 and 6 h after the training sessions as well as the next morning. The mean tes tosterone concentration increased 27% (P<0.02) and 37% (P< 0.02) during the strength and endurance training session, respectively. Two hours after the training sessions the mean testosterone concentration had re turned to the pre-training level and remained at that level for the length of the observation period. There were no significant differences in the changes in testosterone concentration after strength and endurance training but there were large differences in the testosterone response at the level of the individual. A high correlation (r=0.98;P<0.001) for individuals was found between increases in testosterone concentration after strength and after endurance training. It was concluded that the changes in mean testosterone values followed the same timecourse after single sessions of strength and endurance training of the same duration and perceived exertion. The interindividual differences in tes tosterone response may be of importance for individual adaptation to training.  相似文献

Summary Muscle fiber type composition and capillary supply in rat diaphragm were investigated after 14 weeks of endurance training: body weight and muscle fiber area were significantly decreased, the muscle fiber type composition, capillary to fiber ratio and number of capillaries around each fiber type were unchanged, and the capillary density and number of capillaries around each fiber relative to fiber type areas were significantly increased. These small fiber areas and increased capillary supplies in the trained rats would facilitate oxygen transport to all parts of the muscle fiber during exercise. It is concluded that the changes observed in the trained rat diaphragm appear to enhance the capacity for oxidative metabolism.  相似文献

Summary The effects of 8 weeks' endurance training on muscle metabolism at rest and after a submaximal bicycle ergometer exercise were studied in 31 previously sedentary men, aged 56–70. Training consisted of 3–5 one hour exercise bouts per week including walking-jogging, swimming, gymnastics and ball games. The effects of training were similar to those previously reported for younger men. Mean maximal oxygen uptake increased (11%), as did the resting values for muscle glycogen concentration, the enzymes representing aerobic energy metabolism (malate dehydrogenase, succinate dehydrogenase), and also some of the anaerobic enzymes (creatine phosphokinase, lactate dehydrogenase). Lactate production during submaximal work decreased. The enzyme activities were lower following acute exercise both before and after training.  相似文献

Skeletal muscle capillarity expressed as capillary density (CD), and number of capillaries per fibre (C/F), as well as the mean fibre cross-sectional area (FCSA), were determined in the extensor digitorum longus (EDL), plantaris (PLA) and soleus (SOL) muscles of four groups of eight rodents trained on a swimming exercise programme (T) or maintained sedentary (S), at sea level (SL) or at simulated altitude (HA), barometric pressure 61.7 kPa (463 torr) for 12 weeks. It was shown that both HA exposure and endurance training decreased body and skeletal muscles weights (P<0.001). However, neither HA exposure nor endurance training induce any variation in relative importance in the skeletal muscle mass. Altitude exposure and endurance training had increasing effects on CD in all muscles studied (P<0.001). This study confirms the fact that altitude exposure has no direct effect on capillary development. On the other hand, the capillary supply of the several slow- and fast- twitch skeletal muscles studied is increased by endurance training. This real enhancement in capillary network is ascertained by an increase in the C/F ratio (+7%, +26%, +16%, in PLA, EDL, and SOL muscles, respectively at sea level, and +19.5%, +30%, and +14% respectively at HA). These results indicate that the effects of chronic exercise on skeletal muscle capillarity estimated by the C/F ratio, are greater in an hypobaric environment than in a SL environment.  相似文献

Summary The influence of an increase in training volume (ITV; February 1989) vs intensity (ITI; February 1990) on performance, catecholamines, energy metabolism and serum lipids was examined in two studies on eight, and nine experienced middle- or long-distance runners; seven participated in both studies. During ITV, mean training volume was doubled from 85.9 km · week–1 (pretrial phase) to 174.6 km within 3 weeks. Some 96%–98% of the training was performed at 67 (SD 8)% of maximal performance. During ITI, speed-endurance, high-speed and interval runs increased within 3 weeks from 9 km · week–1 (pretrial phase) to 22.7 km · week–1 and the total training distance from 61.6 to 84.7 km · week–1. The ITV resulted in stagnation of running velocity at 4 mmol lactate concentration and a decrease in total running distance in the increment test. Heart rate, energy metabolic parameters, nocturnal urinary catecholamine excretion, low density, very low density lipoprotein-cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations decreased significantly; the exercise-related catecholamine plasma concentrations increased at an identical exercise intensity. The ITI produced an improvement in running velocity at 4 mmol lactate concentration and in total running distance in the increment test; heart rate, energy metabolic parameters, nocturnal catecholamine excretion, and serum lipids remained nearly constant, and the exercise-related plasma catecholamine concentrations decreased at an identical exercise intensity. The ITV-related changes in metabolism and catecholamines may have indicated an exhaustion syndrome in the majority of the athletes examined but this hypothesis has to be proven by future experimental studies.  相似文献

The effects of a 16-week training period (2 days per week) of resistance training alone (upper- and lower-body extremity exercises) (S), endurance training alone (cycling exercise) (E), or combined resistance (once weekly) and endurance (once weekly) training (SE) on muscle mass, maximal strength (1RM) and power of the leg and arm extensor muscles, maximal workload (Wmax) and submaximal blood lactate accumulation by using an incremental cycling test were examined in middle-aged men [S, n=11, 43 (2) years; E, n=10, 42 (2) years; SE, n=10, 41 (3) years]. During the early phase of training (from week 0 to week 8), the increase 1RM leg strength was similar in both S (22%) and SE (24%) groups, while the increase at week 16 in S (45%) was larger (P<0.05) than that recorded in SE (37%). During the 16-week training period, the increases in power of the leg extensors at 30% and 45% of 1RM were similar in all groups tested. However, the increases in leg power at the loads of 60% and 70% of 1RM at week 16 in S and SE were larger (P<0.05) than those recorded in E, and the increase in power of the arm extensors was larger (P<0.05) in S than in SE (P<0.05) and E (n.s.). No significant differences were observed in the magnitude of the increases in Wmax between E (14%), SE (12%) and E (10%) during the 16-week training period. During the last 8 weeks of training, the increases in Wmax in E and SE were greater (P<0.05–0.01) than that observed in S (n.s.). No significant differences between the groups were observed in the training-induced changes in submaximal blood lactate accumulation. Significant decreases (P<0.05–0.01) in average heart rate were observed after 16 weeks of training in 150 W and 180 W in SE and E, whereas no changes were recorded in S. The data indicate that low-frequency combined training of the leg extensors in previously untrained middle-aged men results in a lower maximal leg strength development only after prolonged training, but does not necessarily affect the development of leg muscle power and cardiovascular fitness recorded in the cycling test when compared with either mode of training alone.  相似文献

This study was undertaken to analyze changes in selected cardiovascular and neuromuscular variables in a group of elite kayakers across a 12-week periodized cycle of combined strength and endurance training. Eleven world-class level paddlers underwent a battery of tests and were assessed four times during the training cycle (T0, T1, T2, and T3). On each occasion subjects completed an incremental test to exhaustion on the kayak-ergometer to determine maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max), second ventilatory threshold (VT2), peak blood lactate, paddling speed at VO2max (PSmax) and at VT2 (PSVT2), stroke rate at VO2max and at VT2, heart rate at VO2max and at VT2. One-repetition maximum (1RM) and mean velocity with 45% 1RM load (V 45%) were assessed in the bench press (BP) and prone bench pull (PBP) exercises. Anthropometric measurements (skinfold thicknesses and muscle girths) were also obtained. Training volume and exercise intensity were quantified for each of three training phases (P1, P2, and P3). Significant improvements in VO2max (9.5%), VO2 at VT2 (9.4%), PSmax (6.2%), PSVT2 (4.4%), 1RM in BP (4.2%) and PBP (5.3%), V 45% in BP (14.4%) and PBP (10.0%) were observed from T0 to T3. A 12-week periodized strength and endurance program with special emphasis on prioritizing the sequential development of specific physical fitness components in each training phase (i.e. muscle hypertrophy and VT2 in P1, and maximal strength and aerobic power in P2) seems effective for improving both cardiovascular and neuromuscular markers of highly trained top-level athletes.  相似文献

The biochemical, histochemical, and structural changes induced by endurance training and long-term exposure to high altitude were studied in the diaphragm muscle of rats exposed to simulated altitude (HA: n = 16; P b = 62 kPa, 463 Torr; 4000 m) and compared to animals maintained at sea-level (SL: n = 16). Half of the animals in each group were trained (T) by swimming for 12 weeks, the other half were kept sedentary (S). Except for a small decrease in type I fibres in the HA-S group (–7%, P<0.05), in favour of type IIab and type IIb fibres, neither high-altitude exposure nor endurance training had an overall effect on fibre type distribution. The mean fibre cross-sectional area was found to be unaffected by altitude and/or chronic exercise. Capillary density was shown to be increased by both high-altitude exposure (P<0.02) and training (P<0.001), whereas capillary growth, estimated by the capillary/fibre ratio, was unaffected in both cases. Following endurance training, a modest increase in citrate synthase was shown to occur to the same extent in the HA-T and SL-T groups (+15% and + 16% respectively, NS). Hexokinase increased following training (P<0.05) and high-altitude exposure (P<0.001). In normoxic and hypoxic animals, endurance training enhanced the ratio of the heart-specific lactate dehydrogenase isozyme LDH1 to total LDH activity (+59%, P<0.01; +92%, P<0.05 respectively). It may be hypothesized that the increased glucose phosphorylation capacity observed in diaphragm muscle contributes to the reduction of glycogen utilization during exercise.  相似文献
