Ticks are one of the important groups of parasites, whose populations have increased in Europe in the last 20 years and, as vectors of many emerging diseases, are a major threat to human and animal health. Bosnia and Herzegovina has both climate and environmental conditions favorable for ticks. Given this risk, the aim of this study was to identify tick species currently present in this country and to compare the findings with previous studies, in order to update information on their spatial distribution and other parameters of occurrence.From March 2017 to April 2020, ticks were collected in 42 sampling areas (municipalities) throughout the country. Prespecified identification keys were used for identifying the ticks to the species level.A total of 6193 tick specimens from the Ixodidae family were collected from animal hosts or from vegetation. Ixodes ricinus was the most dominant tick species found. However, our results indicate a decrease in the relative contribution of this tick species to the overall abundance of tick populations. Dermacentor marginatus, which almost doubled in abundance compared to earlier studies, is the second most common tick species. We further confirmed the presence of Dermacentor reticulatus, Rhipicephalus bursa, Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato, Hyalomma marginatum and Haemaphysalis punctata. Ixodes hexagonus, Ixodes canisuga and Haemaphysalis concinna, which were previously reported at low abundance were not found amongst our specimens.  相似文献

Ticks are among the most important vectors for medical and veterinary importance in African countries, representing thus an obstacle for development and improvement of livestock production. The central part of Burkina Faso is an arid region which has a low diversity of tick species and in which Rhipicephalus microplus has been absent. This study aimed to examine ticks infesting cattle within this region, focusing on the peripheral area of Ouagadougou. Tick sampling was undertaken monthly on 30 selected cattle in the state breeding station of Loumbila, from June 2017 to February 2018. Morphological identification was carried out based on previous established keys and catalogue. A total of 1,076 ticks belonging to four genera and seven species were collected. Amblyomma variegatum (50.5%) was the most abundant species followed by Hyalomma rufipes (27.4%), Hyalomma truncatum (13.7%), Rhipicephalus decoloratus (4.5%), Hyalomma impressum (2.4%), Rhipicephalus microplus (1.5%), and Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato (0.1%). The results suggested a decrease of A. variegatum and Hyalomma spp. load compared to data collected in 1996 from the same study area.Presence of R. microplus and R. decoloratus has been highlighted in the studied area for the first time. This finding highlights the relevance of regular investigations on tick species infesting livestock utilizing collaboration with different stakeholders.  相似文献

The Maltese Archipelago is situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Basin, between Europe and Africa, therefore representing an important stopover site for migratory birds between these two continents. Despite this, up-to-date information is not available on tick species associated with birds in Malta. Therefore, in this study, birds mist-netted for ringing by BirdLife Malta were examined for the presence of ticks between September, 2019 and May, 2021. Ticks were identified morphologically and molecularly, using three genetic markers.During the study period, 57 individuals of 22 bird species were found tick-infested, from which altogether 113 ixodid ticks were collected. The majority of developmental stages were nymphs, but 13 larvae and one female were also found. These ticks belonged to nine species: Ixodes cumulatimpunctatus (n=1), Ixodes ricinus (n=2), Ixodes acuminatus (n=2), Ixodes frontalis (n=5), Ixodes festai (n=1), one species of the Amblyomma marmoreum complex (n=8), Hyalomma rufipes (n=78), Hyalomma marginatum (n=7) and Hyalomma lusitanicum (n=1). Eight Hyalomma sp. ticks could only be identified on the genus level. Regarding seasonality, all Palearctic Ixodes species were carried by birds exclusively in the autumn (i.e., north to south), whereas H. rufipes (with predominantly Afrotropical distribution) was exclusively collected in the spring (i.e., carried south to north). Two tick species that occurred on birds in Malta, i.e., a species of the A. marmoreum complex and I. cumulatimpunctatus are only indigenous in the Afrotropical zoogeographic region. This is the first finding of the latter tick species in Europe, and four tick species were identified for the first time in Malta.In conclusion, the diversity of tick species regularly arriving in Europe from Africa is most likely higher than reflected by data obtained in Mediterranean countries of mainland Europe. Most notably, ticks of the genus Amblyomma appear to be underrepresented in previous datasets. Ticks of the subgenus Afrixodes (represented by I. cumulatimpunctatus) might also be imported into Europe by migratory birds.  相似文献

Members of the subgenus Eschatocephalus Frauenfeld, 1853 are highly specialized cave-dwelling ectoparasites of bats. We conducted a comprehensive field-based survey on bat ticks in Turkey and provided information about the phylogenetic placement of collected species. Sampling was carried out at 26 caves from 18 provinces around Turkey between 2019 and 2021. Eighty-one tick specimens collected from the cave environment or on various cave roosting bats resulted in five species: Ixodes vespertilionis, Ixodes simplex, Ixodes ariadnae, Ixodes kaiseri, and Haemaphysalis erinacei. While I. simplex was the most frequently collected species with a rate of 56.2% mainly from bats (Miniopterus schreibersii), I. vespertilionis was the most prevalent species (65.4%) and found mainly on cave walls. The first record of I. ariadnae was provided for Turkey. Phylogenetic trees were built using mt 16S rDNA and COI markers. Our results demonstrated the presence of two distinct lineages of I. vespertilionis in Turkey; one lineage grouped with European isolates, whereas three sequences clustered separately. The phylogenetic pattern of I. simplex was consistent with previous results; this clade was clustered distantly to other bat tick species. The significance of the surprising records of H. erinacei and I. kaiseri in caves is also discussed.  相似文献

Molecular methods are increasingly being utilized for accurate identification of ticks (Acari: Ixodidae), especially in cases of morphologically highly similar species. In this study, we performed molecular research of the tick fauna in Croatia using DNA barcoding method. Ticks were sampled in three biogeographical regions and thirteen species were recorded: Dermacentor marginatus, Dermacentor reticulatus, Haemaphysalis concinna, Haemaphysalis inermis, Haemaphysalis punctata, Hyalomma marginatum, Ixodes frontalis, Ixodes hexagonus, Ixodes kaiseri, Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus bursa, Rhipicephalus sanguineus s.l. and Rhipicephalus turanicus. Ixodes kaiseri is for the first time recorded in the fauna of Croatia. Of the thirteen hard tick species analyzed in this study, pathogens from different groups (bacteria, protozoa and viruses) have been detected in eight species in Croatia so far. For the important vector species R. sanguineus s.s., new distributional data for Croatia are given. The standard COI barcoding region was amplified, and the sequences were analyzed by species delimitation methods together with the sequences of conspecific and congeneric species from the public BOLD database. Our specimens of H. punctata represent a new, genetically distinct MOTU. A brief overview of the available public DNA barcoding data for Ixodidae is presented, highlighting the need for an integrative approach for the clarification of the taxonomic status of problematic Ixodid taxa. The results provide a basis for the establishment of a molecular data platform for the Ixodidae of the Croatian fauna.  相似文献

A molecular survey was undertaken to determine the presence of protozoal and bacterial organisms in 120 ticks and 87 blood samples collected from mammals in north-eastern Algeria. Eight tick species were morphologically identified including 70 Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) annulatus, 23 Rhipicephalus bursa, five Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato, 11 Hyalomma impeltatum, five Hyalomma scupense, two Hyalommma marginatum, one Hyalomma anatolicum and three Ixodes ricinus. Quantitative PCR screening of the ticks showed that Theileria annulata, “Candidatus Ehrlichia urmitei”, Theileria buffeli and Anaplasma platys were detected in Rh. annulatus. Rickettsia massiliae and Anaplasma ovis were detected in Rh. sanguineus s.l. and Rh. bursa. Rickettsia aeschlimannii was detected in Hy. marginatum, Hy. scupense and Hy. impeltatum. Finally, “Candidatus Rickettsia barbariae” was detected in Rh. bursa. In the screening blood samples, Theileria equi, T.annulata, T. buffeli, Babesia bovis, Anaplasma marginale, A. ovis and Borrelia spp. were detected in cattle. Theileria ovis, T. annulata, and A. ovis were detected in sheep. In addition, A. ovis and T. equi were detected in goats and equidea respectively. In this study, T. equi and “Candidatus Rickettsia barbariae” were identified for the first time in Algeria as well as potential new species of Ehrlichia and Anaplasma.Although molecular detection does not indicate vector/reservoir competence when investigating ticks removed from animals, this study expands the knowledge of the microorganisms detected in ticks in north-east of Algeria.  相似文献

Bats comprise one quarter of the world’s mammal species. In Europe, three nidicolous Ixodes tick species, I. vespertilionis, I. simplex and I. ariadnae are specifically associated with cave-dwelling bats, but their role as potential vectors of zoonotic agents is unknown. In this study, we used PCR-based methods to provide the first evidence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) infections in the three bat-associated tick species collected from ten bat species sampled in Poland and Romania. B. burgdorferi s.l. was detected in 24% (64/266) of tick samples, and 40.3% (60/149) of the bats carried infected chiropterophilic ticks.In Poland, the B. burgdorferi s.l. infection prevelance of I. ariadnae ticks parasitizing Myotis species was four times higher compared to the I. vespertilionis ticks derived from Rhinolophus hipposideros bats (44.4% vs.10%, respectively). The observed differences in infection prevalence could be explained by differences in reservoir potential between bat species. Bats from the genus Myotis and Miniopterus schreibersii carried more infected ticks than R. hipposideros regardless of the tick species. Analysis of the flaB gene sequences revealed seven species from the B. burgdorferi s.l. complex (B. afzelii, B. carolinensis, B. garinii, B. lanei, B. spielmanii, B. burgdorferi s.s., and B. valaisiana), of which five are considered as human pathogens. This large diversity of Borrelia species may reflect differences in susceptibility of chiropteran hosts and/or the tick vectors. Generally, mammal-associated B. burgdorferi s.l. species were more common than bird-associated species. Our study provides evidence for new enzootic transmission cycles of B. burgdorferi s.l. spirochetes involving nidicolous Ixodes tick species and cave-dwelling bats.  相似文献

The brown dog tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Latreille, 1806) is the most widely distributed tick species globally. Throughout the world there are at least two divergent lineages on dogs that are traditionally grouped into what was known as R. sanguineus. The species R. sanguineus was recently redescribed using a neotype reported from countries with a temperate climate. The second lineage distributed in countries with primarily tropical climates is currently designated R. sanguineus s.l. tropical lineage. Here, we present a comprehensive genetic evaluation of Australian brown dog ticks from across the continent that complements the morphological study of R. sanguineus sensu Roberts (1965). A total of 294 ticks were collected from dogs around Australia ― including New South Wales, Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia ― for morphological identification. All ticks were morphologically identified as R. sanguineus sensu Roberts (1965). DNA was isolated from a single leg from morphologically characterised individuals from New South Wales (n = 14), Queensland (n = 18), Northern Territory (n = 7) and Western Australia (n = 13), together with ticks from Fiji (n = 1) and the Seychelles (n = 1) for comparison with Australian ticks. The study revealed three cox1 haplotypes clustered only with R. sanguineus s.l. tropical lineage’. An updated distribution of R. sanguineus sensu Roberts (1965) is compared to the 1965 distribution. In the Australian context, R. sanguineus s.l. has appeared in north-western New South Wales but remains absent from coastal New South Wales. Despite both temperate and tropical climates being present in Australia, only R. sanguineus s.l. tropical lineage was found. The evidence does not support the presence of the strictly defined brown dog tick, R. sanguineus by Nava et al. (2018) in Australia, because the examined ticks are genetically and morphologically distinct. We recommend using the term brown dog tick, R. sanguineus sensu Roberts (1965) for specimens from Australia.  相似文献

Cercopithifilaria bainae, Cercopithifilaria grassi, and Cercopithifilaria sp. II sensu Otranto et al., 2013 tick borne filarioids are typically found in dogs. Among them, Cercopithifilaria bainae has a worldwide distribution according to the occurrence of its tick vector, Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato (s.l.). Nevertheless, in Asian countries, despite the wide presence of this tick species, data on Cercopithifilaria spp. are scant. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the occurrence of these dermal filarioids in ixodid ticks collected on dogs and cats from Asian countries, providing a better epidemiological picture on their distribution in this continent. Ticks (n = 687) of the species Rhipicephalus sanguineus s. l. (n = 667), Rhipicephalus haemaphysaloides (n = 8), Haemaphysalis longicornis (n = 7), Haemaphysalis campanulata (n = 1), Haemaphysalis wellingtoni (n = 2), Haemaphysalis hystricis (n = 1), and Ixodes sp. (n = 1) were collected on dogs and cats under the frame of previous studies in China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. Tick samples were molecularly screened for Cercopithifilaria spp. by conventional PCR and real-time PCR using two pair of primers targeting partial sequences of cytochrome c oxidase 1 gene. Overall, Cercophitifilaria spp. DNA was detected in 9.5% (n = 65/687) of the tick specimens tested, with C. bainae being the most prevalent species (8.9%), followed by C. grassii (0.6%). Most Cercophitifilaria spp. positive ticks were collected on dogs (92.3%; 60/65); whereas ticks collected on cats represented 7.7% of the positive specimens. In addition, Cercopithifilaria spp. were mostly detected in R. sanguineus s.l. ticks (96.9%; 63/65), followed by Rhipicephalus haemaphysaloides (3.1%; 2/65). Data herein presented demonstrate the occurrence of dermal tick borne filarioids of the genus Cercopithifilaria in several Asian countries, with C. bainae being the most prevalent species. We also report for the first time the molecular detection of C. bainae in R. sanguineus s.l. ticks collected on cats, as well as in R. haemaphysaloides ticks, suggesting that the biological cycle of this filarioid species may involve other intermediate and definitive hosts than R. sanguineus s.l. and dogs. However, confirmatory studies on the role of other tick species and domestic cats on the biology of C. bainae are advocated.  相似文献

Phleboviruses are emerging pathogens of public health importance. However, their association with ticks is poorly described, particularly in Africa. Here, adult ticks infesting cattle, goats and sheep were collected in two dryland pastoralist ecosystems of Kenya (Baringo and Kajiado counties) and were screened for infection with phleboviruses. Ticks mainly belonged to the species Rhipicephalus appendiculatus, Hyalomma impeltatum, and Hyalomma rufipes. A fragment of the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) gene was identified in thirty of 671 tick pools, of which twenty-nine were from livestock sampled in Baringo county. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that twenty-five sequences were falling in three clades within the group of tick-associated phleboviruses. The sequences of the three clades showed nucleotide distances 8%, 19% and 22%, respectively, to previously known viruses suggesting that these sequence fragments may belong to three distinct viruses. Viruses of the group of tick-associated phleboviruses have been found in several countries and continents but so far have not been associated with disease in humans or animals. In addition, five sequences were found to group with the sandfly-associated phleboviruses Bogoria virus, Perkerra virus and Ntepes virus recently detected in the same region. Further studies are needed to investigate the transmission and maintenance cycles of these viruses, as well as to assess their potential to infect vertebrates.  相似文献

We found a male Hyalomma rufipes Koch, 1844 tick feeding on a horse grazing near Valtice, south Moravia, Czech Republic on October 24, 2019. The horse was born in Czechland and did not leave the country at least during the last five years. Relevant findings of Hyalomma ticks in other parts of central Europe are reviewed, including also records of pre-imaginal Hyalomma marginatum complex ticks on migrating birds all over Europe.  相似文献

Cocktail vaccines are proposed as an attractive way to increase protection efficacy against specific tick species. Furthermore, such vaccines made with different tick antigens have the potential of cross-protecting against a broad range of tick species. However, there are still limitations to the selection of immunogen candidates. Acknowledging that glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) have been exploited as vaccines against ticks and other parasites, this study aimed to analyze a GST-cocktail vaccine as a potential broad-spectrum tick vaccine. To constitute the GST-cocktail vaccine, five tick species of economic importance for livestock industry were studied (Rhipicephalus appendiculatus, Rhipicephalus decoloratus, Rhipicephalus microplus, Amblyomma variegatum, and Haemaphysalis longicornis). Tick GST ORF sequences were cloned, and the recombinant GSTs were produced in Escherichia coli. rGSTs were purified and inoculated into rabbits, and the immunological response was characterized. The humoral response against rGST-Rd and rGST-Av showed a stronger cross-reactivity against heterologous rGSTs compared to rGST-Hl, rGST-Ra, and rGST-Rm. Therefore, rGST-Rd and rGST-Av were selected for constituting an experimental rGST-cocktail vaccine. Vaccination experiment in rabbits showed that rGST-cocktail caused 35% reduction in female numbers in a Rhipicephalus sanguineus infestation. This study brings forward an approach to selecting immunogens for cocktail vaccines, and the results highlight rGST–Rd and rGST-Av as potentially useful tools for the development of a broad-spectrum tick vaccine.  相似文献

From July 2018 to January 2019 we recorded 41 specimens of adult Hyalomma ticks, which had been found on horses, cattle or humans in 14 Swedish provinces. In 20 cases we received tick specimens, which were identified morphologically as adults of H. marginatum (n = 11) or H. rufipes (n = 9). These are the first documented records in Sweden of adults of H. marginatum and H. rufipes. Molecular tests for Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus and piroplasms (Babesia spp. and Theileria spp.) proved negative; 12 out of 20 tested specimens were positive for rickettsiae (R. aeschlimannii was identified in 11 of the ticks). All ticks originated from people or animals that had not been abroad during the previous two months. These data suggest (i) that the adult Hyalomma ticks originated from immature ticks, which had been brought from the south by migratory birds arriving in Sweden during spring or early summer; and that (ii) due to the exceptionally warm summer of 2018 these immature ticks had been able to develop to the adult stage in the summer and/or autumn of the same year. The rapidly changing climate most likely now permits these two Hyalomma species to develop to the adult, reproductive stage in northern Europe. There is consequently a need to revise the risk maps on the potential geographic occurrence of relevant tick species and related tick-borne pathogens in Sweden and in the neighbouring countries.  相似文献

Ticks are important ectoparasites that are capable of transmitting multiple classes of pathogens and are currently linked with many emerging tick-borne diseases worldwide. With increasing occurrences of tick-borne diseases in both humans and veterinary species, there is a continuous need to further our understanding of ticks and the pathogens they transmit. Whole tick histology provides a full scope of the tick internal anatomy, allowing researchers to examine multiple organs of interest in a single section. This is in contrast to other techniques that are more commonly utilized in tick-borne disease research, such as electron microscopy and light microscopy of individual organs. There is a lack of literature describing a practical technique to process whole tick histologic sections. Therefore, the current study aims to provide researchers with a workable protocol to prepare high quality paraffin-embedded whole tick histology sections. Amblyomma americanum adults were used as an example species for this study. After a series of pilot experiments using a combination of various fixatives, softening agents and processing techniques, we elected to compare two common fixatives, 10% neutral-buffered formalin (NBF) and Bouin's solution for whole ticks. Equal numbers of A. americanum unfed adults (n = 10/fixative) were processed identically and their whole tick histology coronal sections were individually scored. Higher scores were assigned to whole tick sections that contained more internal organs that are crucial for tick-borne disease research (e.g. salivary glands and midgut), high integrity of tissues and exoskeleton on the section, and good fixation and staining quality of the tissues. The mean total scores for Bouin's-fixed ticks were significantly higher compared to NBF-fixed ticks (p = 0.001). To further assess our preferred technique, we also demonstrated the feasibility of producing high quality whole tick sections for three other common tick species of medical importance (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes scapularis, and Dermacentor variabilis) using Bouin's solution. While this technique may require further optimization for other tick species, we described a feasible protocol that uses commonly available tools, reagents and standard histologic equipment. This should allow any investigator to easily make adjustments to this protocol as needed based on their experimental goals.  相似文献

Ticks (Acari: Ixodidae) are considered to be the most important vectors of disease-causing pathogens in domestic and wild animals, and emerging and re-emerging tick-borne diseases (TBD) exert an enormous impact on them. Wild ungulates are hosts for a wide variety of tick species and tick-borne pathogens that affect human and animal health. Consequently, the control of tick infestations and tick-borne pathogen prevalence is essential in some regions. Acaricides and animal management or culling have been used for the control of tick infestations and TBD, but tick vaccines constitute the best alternative to reduce the impact of acaricides on tick resistance and the environment. Previous results of controlled vaccination trials have shown that the Q38 Subolesin/Akirin chimera containing conserved protective epitopes could be a candidate universal antigen to control multiple tick species infestations. Thus, vaccination trials are necessary to validate these results under field conditions. In this study, we characterized the effect of Q38 vaccine on a wild population of European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) in the Andalusian roe deer Reference Station (Junta de Andalucía, Cádiz, Spain). In this location, roe deer suffer especially severe parasitic conditions in some periods and commercial pesticides and ixodicides that are authorized to control ticks without specificity are frequently applied in the field, posing a threat to the environment. Animals vaccinated over a three-year period showed an antibody response to the vaccine antigen and a reduction in tick infestations by multiple species including Hyalomma marginatum, H. lusitanicum, Rhipicephalus bursa and Ixodes ricinus previously identified in roe deer, when compared to untreated controls. These results suggest the efficacy of Q38 for the control of tick infestations in wildlife.  相似文献

Hyalomma marginatum marginatum of Europe and Asia and H. marginatum rufipes of Africa, both reservoirs and vectors of organisms pathogenic to humans and animals, have not infrequently been found as incidental specimens or established populations far from their normal endemic geographical boundaries. Owing to ticks'' unique ability to transmit or harbour for long periods a variety of pathogens of man and animals, their potential epidemiological role is suspected wherever they occur. Evidence that birds, in themselves hosts of several viruses causing human disease, actually transport the African H. marginatum rufipes northwards was obtained in Egypt by capture of infested migrants during spring passage from East Africa to Europe and Asia. Between 1956 and 1960, 340 birds representing 22 forms (species and subspecies) were found infested by 1025 immature ticks, all but seven of which were or appear to be H. marginatum rufipes. The period of attachment of immature stages of rufipes to their host is sufficient to suggest that many of these ticks are carried some distance into Europe and Asia.  相似文献

Anaplasma platys is a Gram-negative, obligate intracellular bacteria that causes canine infectious cyclic thrombocytopenia in dogs. The brown dog tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato is presumed to be the vector of A. platys based on the overlap in distribution of R. sanguineus and A. platys infections, detection of A. platys DNA in both flat and engorged field-collected R. sanguineus, and the fact that dogs are primary hosts of both brown dog ticks and A. platys. However, the only study evaluating the vector competence of R. sanguineus for A. platys under controlled laboratory conditions reported an apparent inability of ticks to acquire or maintain the pathogen. In 2016, engorged female Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu stricto ticks were collected off dogs to start a laboratory tick colony. After one generation of colony maintenance on tick-naïve and pathogen-free New Zealand White rabbits, a rabbit used to feed F1 adults seroconverted to Anaplasma phagocytophilum antigen. PCR and subsequent DNA sequencing identified the presence of A. platys in both the adult ticks fed on this rabbit and their resulting F2 progenies. Retrospective testing of all previous (P and F1) life stages of this colony demonstrated that the infection originated from one field-collected A. platys-infected female whose progeny was propagated in the laboratory and produced the PCR-positive F1 adults. 目的 掌握塔里木盆地蜱类群落的组成和分布规律。方法 按照地理区划和生境类型选择调查点进行蜱类种类和数量调查,采用群落生态学技术方法,计算不同生态环境条件下的蜱类群落组成。结果 在塔里木盆地共采获蜱类5属9种,以亚东璃眼蜱(Hyalomma asiaticum kozlovi)和亚洲璃眼蜱指名亚种(Hyalomma asiaticum asiaticum)为优势种类,分别占35.8%和33.6%。但在不同地区和生态环境的蜱类群落组成有所不同。叶尔羌河流域及北部塔里木河中上游地区蜱类种类丰富,共采获5属8种,占捕获总种数的88.9%。游离蜱指数较塔里木东部和南部低,分别为30.47、84.30和85.31,寄生蜱指数高,分别为15.19、10.10和10.85。璃眼蜱属蜱类以亚东璃眼蜱为主,占92.0%,亚洲璃眼蜱占有很少比例,为5.8%,寄生蜱以图兰扇头蜱(Rhipicephalus turanicus)为主,但较塔里木东部和南部低,分别为55.8%、65.8%和74.7%,血红扇头蜱(Rhipicephalus sanguineus)仅占很小的比例,占0.2%;塔里木盆地东部和南部蜱类群落组成基本一致,均为2属5种,较西北部少。游离蜱指数明显较西北部高,寄生蜱指数低。游离蜱中亚洲璃眼蜱指名亚种在南部地区占主要地位,为72.6%,而在东部地区以亚东璃眼蜱为主,为66.9%,存在25%左右的交叉,寄生蜱中以图兰扇头蜱为主,并较西北部的比例偏高,血红扇头蜱的比例达10%左右,与银盾革蜱(Dermacentor niveus)基本一致,较西北部高出20倍左右。结论 塔里木盆地蜱类动物地理区划在宏观上是基本一致的,但在不同地理景观和生态环境中蜱类的群落结构却存在极大的差异。  相似文献

Twelve tick species have been reported in El Salvador; however, information regarding ticks infesting domestic dogs is lacking, and pathogenic tick-borne Rickettsia species have never been reported in El Salvador. This work evaluated ticks infesting 230 dogs from ten municipalities in El Salvador from July 2019 to August 2020. A total of 1,264 ticks were collected and identified into five species: Rhipicephalus sanguineus sensu lato (s.l.), Rhipicephalus microplus, Amblyomma mixtum, Amblyomma ovale, and Amblyoma cf. parvum. The tick R. sanguineus s.l. was the most frequent species in all localities (81.3% of sampled dogs), followed by Amblyomma mixtum (13.0%), Amblyomma ovale (10.9%) and Amblyomma cf. parvum (10.4%). The overall mean intensity of tick infestation was 5.5 ticks/dog. The highest specific mean intensity value was for R. sanguineus s.l. (4.8 ticks/dog), varying from 1.6 to 2.7 ticks/dog for the three Amblyomma species. From a random sample of 288 tick specimens tested molecularly for the presence of rickettsial agents, three spotted fever group Rickettsia were detected: Rickettsia amblyommatis in 90% (36/40) A. mixtum, 46% (11/24) A. cf. parvum, 4% (7/186) R. sanguineus s.l., and 17% Amblyomma spp.; Rickettsia parkeri strain Atlantic rainforest in 4% (1/25) A. ovale; and an unnamed rickettsia agent, designated as ‘Rickettsia sp. ES-A.cf.parvum’, in 4% (1/24) A. cf. parvum. Our finding of R. parkeri strain Atlantic rainforest in A. ovale is highly relevant because this agent has been associated to spotted fever illness in other Latin American countries, where A. ovale is implicated as its main vector. These findings suggest that spotted fever cases caused by R. parkeri strain Atlantic rainforest could be occurring in El Salvador.  相似文献

The need for imaginative thinking and research in the epidemiology of diseases transmitted by arthropods is made manifest by new views of the longevity and host ranges of arthropod-borne viruses, as well as by other biological and medical phenomena. Among these is the intercontinental transport of ticks by migrating birds. During the fall migration periods of 1959, 1960 and 1961, 32 086 birds (comprising 72 forms) were examined for ticks in Egypt while en route from Asia and eastern Europe to tropical Africa. Of these, 40 forms, represented by 31 434 birds, were tick-infested. The bird hosts, numbering 1040 (3.31% of the tick-infested bird forms examined), bore 1761 ticks, or 1.69 ticks per host. Common ticks taken were Hyalomma m. marginatum, Haemaphysalis punctata, and Ixodes ricinus. Ixodes frontalis and Hyalomma aegyptium were less common and Haemaphysalis sulcata, H. otophila, and H. pavlovskyi were rare. The common tick species are known to be reservoirs and vectors of pathogens causing a number of human and animal diseases in Europe and Asia. Several of the bird hosts have also been incriminated as reservoirs in their summer ranges. Over 20 strains of pathogenic viruses were isolated from these birds and their ticks in Egypt in the 1961 fall migration period.  相似文献
