The precipitation of intermetallic phases and the associated hardening by artificial aging treatments at elevated temperatures above 400 °C were systematically investigated in the commercially available AC2B alloy with a nominal composition of Al–6Si–3Cu (mass%). The natural age hardening of the artificially aged samples at various temperatures was also examined. A slight increase in hardness (approximately 5 HV) of the AC2B alloy was observed at an elevated temperature of 480 °C. The hardness change is attributed to the precipitation of metastable phases associated with the α-Al15(Fe, Mn)3Si2 phase containing a large amount of impurity elements (Fe and Mn). At a lower temperature of 400 °C, a slight artificial-age hardening appeared. Subsequently, the hardness decreased moderately. This phenomenon was attributed to the precipitation of stable θ-Al2Cu and Q-Al4Cu2Mg8Si6 phases and their coarsening after a long duration. The precipitation sequence was rationalized by thermodynamic calculations for the Al–Si–Cu–Fe–Mn–Mg system. The natural age-hardening behavior significantly varied depending on the prior artificial aging temperatures ranging from 400 °C to 500 °C. The natural age-hardening was found to strongly depend on the solute contents of Cu and Si in the Al matrix. This study provides fundamental insights into controlling the strength level of commercial Al–Si–Cu cast alloys with impurity elements using the cooling process after solution treatment at elevated temperatures above 400 °C.  相似文献

In order to obtain a high-performance heat-resistant Mg alloy during the rheo-rolling process, the electronic structure, elastic constants, binding energy and thermodynamic properties of the MgSnLa compounds were conducted by first-principle calculations. The results show that the MgSnLa compounds (La5Sn3, Mg17La2 and Mg2Sn) all show certain metallicity, and La5Sn3 has better mechanical properties (higher bulk modulus (46.47091 GPa) and shear modulus (26.40561 GPa)) than the other two phases. The binding energy reveals that La5Sn3 is the most stable phase in these composite phases (5.33 eV/atom); additionally, thermodynamic studies show that the structural stability of the MgSnLa compounds increases with the increase in temperature, and the temperature has the greatest effect on the stability of Mg17La2. These all provide an efficient guide for the widespread engineering applications of high-performance heat-resistant Mg alloy.  相似文献

TiC-reinforced AZ91D magnesium alloy composites were synthesized through the in situ reaction between an AZ91D melt and Ti-C-Al preforms. The microstructural evolution characteristics and phase transformation were investigated at different melt reaction temperatures (1013, 1033, and 1053 K), with the aim of understanding the in situ formation mechanism of TiC particles from thermodynamic and kinetic perspectives. The results showed that the temperature played a critical role in determining the formation and morphology of TiC. Initially, only the Al3Ti phase was formed through the reaction between Ti and Al when the temperature was 1013 K. With the increase in the melt temperature, the A13Ti’s thermodynamic stability decreased, and dissolution and precipitation reactions occurred at higher temperatures (1033 and 1053 K, respectively), contributing to the formation of TiC particles. The formation of the TiC phase was attributed to two factors: Firstly, A13Ti as an intermediate product reacted with carbon and formed TiC with increasing temperature. Secondly, the in situ TiC reaction was promoted due to the increased reaction-driving force provided by the increasing temperature.  相似文献

The considerable decrease in temperature and time makes FLASH sintering a more sustainable alternative for materials processing. FLASH also becomes relevant if volatile elements are part of the material to be processed, as in alkali-based piezoelectrics like the promising lead-free K0.5Na0.5NbO3 (KNN). Due to the volatile nature of K and Na, KNN is difficult to process by conventional sintering. Although some studies have been undertaken, much remains to be understood to properly engineer the FLASH sintering process of KNN. In this work, the effect of FLASH temperature, TF, is studied as a function of the particle size and impurity content of KNN powders. Differences are demonstrated: while the particle size and impurity degree markedly influence TF, they do not significantly affect the densification and grain growth processes. The conductivity of KNN FLASH-sintered ceramics and KNN single crystals (SCs) is compared to elucidate the role of particles’ surface conduction. When particles’ surfaces are not present, as in the case of SCs, the FLASH process requires higher temperatures and conductivity values. These results have implications in understanding FLASH sintering towards a more sustainable processing of lead-free piezoelectrics.  相似文献

(Mg, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn)1−xLixO is a type of high-entropy oxide that has high ionic conductivity at room temperature and is used as a solid electrolyte. (Mg, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn)1−xLixO was successfully synthesized from precursor powder by applying reactive flash sintering for less than 4 min at room temperature (25 °C). AC and DC electric fields were independently applied to sinter ceramic samples; consequently, AC and DC electric field application resulted in relative densities that exceeded 90% and 80%, respectively. X-ray diffraction spectra of samples revealed the existence of a clear halite structure with an insignificant impurity phase, proving that (Mg, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn)1−xLixO crystals were successfully produced.  相似文献

In this paper we will demonstrate how a thermodynamic-kinetic method can be utilized to rationalize a wide range of interfacial phenomena between Sn-based lead-free solders and Ni metallizations. First, the effect of P on the interfacial reactions, and thus on the reliability, between Sn-based solders and electroless Ni/immersion Au (ENIG) metallizations, will be discussed. Next, the effect of small amounts of Cu in Sn-based solders on the intermetallic compound (IMC), which forms first on top of Ni metallization, will be covered. With the help of thermodynamic arguments a so called critical Cu concentration for the formation of (Cu,Ni)6Sn5 can be determined as a function of temperature. Then the important phenomenon of redeposition of (Au,Ni)Sn4 layer on top of Ni3Sn4 IMC will be discussed in detail. The reasons leading to this behaviour will be rationalized with the help of thermodynamic information and an explanation of why this phenomenon does not occur when an appropriate amount of Cu is present in the soldering system will be given. Finally, interfacial reaction issues related to low temperature Sn-Zn and Sn-Bi based solders and Ni metallization will be discussed.  相似文献

In this study, high-density magnesium diboride (MgB2) bulk superconductors were synthesized by spark plasma sintering (SPS) under pressure to improve the field dependence of the critical current density (Jc-B) in MgB2 bulk superconductors. We investigated the relationship between sintering conditions (temperature and time) and Jc-B using two methods, ex situ (sintering MgB2 synthesized powder) and in situ (reaction sintering of Mg and B powder), respectively. As a result, we found that higher density with suppressed particle growth and suppression of the formation of coarse particles of MgB4 and MgO were found to be effective in improving the Jc-B characteristics. In the ex situ method, the degradation of MgB2 due to pyrolysis was more severe at temperatures higher than 850 °C. The sample that underwent SPS treatment for a short time at 850 °C showed higher density and less impurity phase in the bulk, which improved the Jc-B properties. In addition, the in situ method showed very minimal impurity with a corresponding improvement in density and Jc-B characteristics for the sample optimized at 750 °C. Microstructural characterization and flux pinning (fP) analysis revealed the possibility of refined MgO inclusions and MgB4 phase as new pinning centers, which greatly contributed to the Jc-B properties. The contributions of the sintering conditions on fP for both synthesis methods were analyzed.  相似文献

This paper presents studies on the possibility of utilization of technogenic waste from the metallurgical industry by the method of complex processing in order to reduce the anthropogenic load on the environment of the region with the example of the zinc silicate-magnetite-carbon system. The selected sample of clinker dump from welting was subjected to chemical and scanning electron microscopic analyses and thermodynamic modeling. Thermodynamic studies were carried out in the temperature range 1600–2200 K and pressure p = 0.1 MPa, modeling the process of electric melting of clinker from welting in an arc furnace using the software application Astra 4 developed at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University (Moscow, Russian Federation). As a result of the thermodynamic modeling, the optimal temperature range was established, which was 1800–1900 K. Thermodynamic studies established that it is possible to drive away zinc from the system under study by 99–100% in the entire temperature range under study. The maximum degree of silicon extraction (αSi) in the alloy is up to 69.44% at T = 1900 K, and the degree of iron extraction (αFe) in the alloy is up to 99.996%. In particular, it was determined and proved that clinker waste from welting can act as a secondary technogenic raw material when it is processed as a mono mixture to produce iron silicides with a silicon content of 18 to 28%.  相似文献

In this study, the effect of heat treatment on the structural, magnetic and electrical properties of La2FeMnO6 prepared via the sol–gel and sintering method were investigated. The heat-treatment conditions, i.e., the calcination temperature (1023 K and 1173 K), sintering temperature and time (1273 K for 1 and 3 h) were carried out. X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealed orthorhombic pnma (62) symmetry without any impurity phase for all samples. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the presence of Fe2+–Fe3+–Fe4+ and Mn3+–Mn4+ mixed states, and lanthanum and oxygen vacancies resulting in various magnetic exchange interactions. Furthermore, the magnetisation hysteresis showed enhanced hysteresis loops accompanied by an increase in magnetisation parameters with calcination temperature. The Raman phonon parameters induced a redshift in the phonon modes, alongside an increase in the intensity and compression of the linewidth, reflecting a decrease in lattice distortion, which was confirmed by XRD. The temperature-dependent conductivity showed that the conduction mechanism is dominated by p-type polaron hopping, and the lowest activation energy was approximately 0.237 ± 0.003 eV for the minimum heat-treatment conditions. These results show that varying heat-treatment conditions can significantly affect the structural, magnetic and electrical properties of the La2FeMnO6 system.  相似文献

The removability of impurities during the aluminum remelting process by oxidation was previously investigated by our research group. In the present work, alternative impurity removal with chlorination has been evaluated by thermodynamic analysis. For 43 different elements, equilibrium distribution ratios among metal, chloride flux and oxide slag phases in the aluminum remelting process were calculated by assuming the binary systems of aluminum and an impurity element. It was found that the removability of impurities isn’t significantly affected by process parameters such as chloride partial pressure, temperature and flux composition. It was shown that Ho, Dy, Li, La, Mg, Gd, Ce, Yb, Ca and Sr can be potentially eliminated into flux by chlorination from the remelted aluminum. Chlorination and oxidation are not effective to remove other impurities from the melting aluminum, due to the limited parameters which can be controlled during the remelting process. It follows that a proper management of aluminum scrap such as sorting based on the composition of the products is important for sustainable aluminum recycling.  相似文献

In this study, a homemade uniaxial strain pressure cell was designed to be directly used in the standard magnetometers whereby the magnetic properties of samples subjected to a uniaxial strain and magnetic field were characterized. Its feasibility has been demonstrated by the uniaxial strain control of the phase transition and magnetocaloric effect in Ni40Co10Mn40Sn10 (NCMS) alloys. With the assistance of a uniaxial strain of ~0.5%, the cooling temperature span of NCMS alloys is broadened by 2 K, and the refrigeration capacity under a 3 T magnetic field change increases from 246 to 277 J/kg. This research provides not only direct experimental assistance for the tuning of phase transition by the uniaxial strain but also possibilities for studying the coupled caloric effect in first-order phase transition materials under a combined uniaxial strain and magnetic field by the thermodynamic analysis.  相似文献

Pure bismuth ferrite (BFO) and BFO with impurity phases (Bi2O3 or Fe2O3) were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. Complex dielectric permittivity (ε) and electrical conductivity (σ) were determined by complex impedance measurements at different frequencies (200 Hz–2 MHz) and temperatures (25–290) °C. The conductivity spectrum of samples, σ(f), complies with Jonscher’s universal law and the presence of impurity phases leads to a decrease in the static conductivity (σDC); this result is correlated with the increased thermal activation energy of the conduction in impure samples compared to the pure BFO sample. The conduction mechanism in BFO and the effect of impurity phases on σ and ε were analyzed considering the variable range hopping model (VRH). Based on the VRH model, the hopping length (Rh), hopping energy (Wh) and the density of states at the Fermi level (N(EF)) were determined for the first time, for these samples. In addition, from ε(T) dependence, a transition in the electronic structure of samples from a semiconductor-like to a conductor-like behavior was highlighted around 465–490 K for all samples. The results obtained are useful to explain the conduction mechanisms from samples of BFO type, offering the possibility to develop a great variety of electrical devices with novel functions.  相似文献

The novel ternary carbides and nitrides, known as MAX phase materials with remarkable combined metallic and ceramic properties, offer various engineering and technological applications. Using ab initio calculations based on generalized gradient approximation (GGA), local density approximation (LDA), and the quasiharmonic Debye model; the electronic, structural, elastic, mechanical, and thermodynamic properties of the M2GaC (M = Zr, Hf) MAX phase were investigated. The optimized lattice parameters give the first reference to the upcoming theocratical and experimental studies, while the calculated elastic constants are in excellent agreement with the available data. Moreover, obtained elastic constants revealed that both the Zr2GaC and Hf2GaC MAX phases are brittle. The band structure and density of states analysis showed that these MAX phases are electrical conductors, having strong directional bonding between M-C (M = Zr, Hf) atoms due to M-d and C-p hybridization. Formation and cohesive energies, and phonon calculations showed that Zr2GaC and Hf2GaC MAX phases’ compounds are thermodynamically and dynamically stable and can be synthesized experimentally. Finally, the effect of temperature and pressure on volume, heat capacity, Debye temperature, Grüneisen parameter, and thermal expansion coefficient of M2GaC (M = Zr, Hf) are evaluated using the quasiharmonic Debye model from the nonequilibrium Gibbs function in the temperature and pressure range 0–1600 K and 0–50 GPa respectively.  相似文献

The NdF3 solubility in molten eutectic FLiNaK, which is a conceivable medium for a molten salt reactor (MSR), was determined by the quasi-binary phase diagram FLiNaK-NdF3. The eutectic mixture FLiNaK was prepared by direct melting of components LiF, NaF and KF·HF. The acidic anhydrous salt (KF·HF) was used instead of the hygroscopic KF. The NdF3 was sintered by hydrofluorination of Nd2O3. The oxygen impurity in the prepared eutectic FLiNaK, determined by an oxygen analyzer LECO OH836, was 0.036 wt.%, whereas the NdF3 contained 0.04 wt.% of oxygen. A part of the FLiNaK-NdF3 quasi-binary phase diagram was obtained using two thermal analysis techniques: differential thermal analysis (DTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The FLiNaK-NdF3 phase diagram in the region of 0–30 mol.% NdF3 contains one eutectic at 2 mol.% NdF3 and 450 °C and two peritectic points: 8 mol.% NdF3 at 500 °C and 22 mol.% NdF3 at 575 °C. The region of the FLiNaK-NdF3 phase diagram below the liquidus line is rather complicated due to the complex structure of the multicomponent system in its molten state, as in its solid state. The NdF3 solubility in FLiNaK is about 5 mol.% at 490 °C and 29 mol.% at 700 °C; this means that the process of the MA transmutation in the MSR can be carried out in molten FLiNaK with a content of actinides as high as 15–20 mol.% in the temperature range of 550–650 °C.  相似文献

Tert-butyl peroxy-3,5,5-trimethylhexanoate (TBPTMH), a liquid ester organic peroxide, is commonly used as an initiator for polymerization reactions. During the production process, TBPTMH may be exposed to acids and alkali, which may have different effects on its thermal hazard, so it is necessary to carry out a study on the thermal hazard of TBPTMH mixed with acids and alkali. In this paper, the effects of H2SO4 and NaOH on the thermal decomposition of TBPTMH were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and adiabatic calorimetry (Phi-TEC II). The “kinetic triple factors” were calculated by thermodynamic analysis. The results show that the three Ea are 132.49, 116.36, and 118.24 kJ/mol, respectively; thus, the addition of H2SO4 and NaOH increased the thermal hazard of TBPTMH. In addition, the characteristic parameters (time to maximum rate under adiabatic conditions, self-accelerated decomposition temperature) of its thermal decomposition were determined, and the control temperature (45, 40, and 40 °C) of TBPTMH under the action of acid-alkali were further received. This work is expected to provide some guidance for the safe storage, handling, production, and transportation of TBPTMH in the process industry.  相似文献

The electrical conductivity of La0.5−xSr0.5FeO3−δ, investigated as a function of the nominal cation deficiency in the A-sublattice, x, varying from 0 to 0.02, has demonstrated a nonlinear dependence. An increase in the x value from 0 to 0.01 resulted in a considerable increase in electrical conductivity, which was shown to be attributed mainly to an increase in the mobility of the charge carriers. A combined analysis of the defect equilibrium and the charge transport in La0.5−xSr0.5FeO3−δ revealed the increase in the mobility of oxygen ions, electrons, and holes by factors of ~1.5, 1.3, and 1.7, respectively. The observed effect is assumed to be conditioned by a variation in the oxide structure under the action of the cationic vacancy formation. It was found that the cation deficiency limit in La0.5−xSr0.5FeO3−δ did not exceed 0.01. A small overstep of this limit was shown to result in the formation of (Sr,La)Fe12O19 impurity, which even in undetectable amounts reduced the conductivity of the material. The presence of (Sr,La)Fe12O19 impurity was revealed by X-ray diffraction on the ceramic surface after heat treatment at 1300 °C. It is most likely that the formation of traces of the liquid phase under these conditions is responsible for the impurity migration to the ceramic surface. The introduction of a cation deficiency of 0.01 into the A-sublattice of La0.5−xSr0.5FeO3−δ can be recommended as an effective means to enhance both the oxygen ion and the electron conductivity and improve ceramic sinterability.  相似文献

The recent increase in interest in rare earth elements is due to their increasing use in many areas of life. However, along with their increasing popularity, the problem of their natural resources availability arises. In this study, an alginate–lignin composite (ALG-L) was fabricated and tested for adsorptive abilities of the rare earth elements (La(III), Ce(III), Pr(III), and Nd(III)) from aqueous solutions. The characterization of the newly synthetized calcium alginate–lignin composite was performed using ATR/FT-IR, SEM, EDX, OM, AFM, XRD, BET, sieve analysis and pHpzc measurements. The adsorption mechanism of the ALG5L1 composite for REEs was analyzed through a series of kinetic, equilibrium and thermodynamic adsorption experiments. Under the optimum sorption conditions, i.e., sorbent mass 0.1 g, pH 5.0, temperature 333 K, the maximum adsorption capacities of the ALG5L1 composite for La(III), Ce(III), Pr(III), and Nd(III) reached 109.56, 97.97, 97.98, and 98.68 mg/g, respectively. The desorption studies indicate that the new calcium alginate–lignin composite is characterized by good recycling properties and can be also reused. To sum up the advantages of low cost, easy synthesis, high adsorption efficiencies and reusability indicate that the ALG5L1 composite has great application perspectives for REEs recovery.  相似文献

The vitreous transition is characterized by a freezing of atomic degrees of freedom at a temperature Tg depending on the heating and cooling rates. A kinetic origin is generally attributed to this phenomenon instead of a thermodynamic one which we develop here. Completed homogeneous nucleation laws reflecting the energy saving due to Fermi energy equalization of nascent crystals and their melt are used. They are applied to bulk metallic glasses and extended to inorganic glasses and polymers. A transition T*g among various Tg corresponds to a crystal homogeneous nucleation temperature, leading to a preliminary formation of a cluster distribution during the relaxation time preceding the long steady-state nucleation time of crystals in small samples. The thermally-activated energy barrier ΔG*2ls/kBT at T*g for homogeneous nucleation is nearly the same in all glass-forming melts and determined by similar values of viscosity and a thermally-activated diffusion barrier from melt to cluster. The glass transition T*g is a material constant and a linear function of the energy saving associated with charge transfers from nascent clusters to the melt. The vitreous transition and the melting temperatures alone are used to predict the free-volume disappearance temperature equal to the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann temperature of fragile glass-forming melts, in agreement with many viscosity measurements. The reversible thermodynamic vitreous transition is determined by the disappearance temperature T*g of the fully-relaxed enthalpy Hr that is not time dependent; the observed specific heat jump at T*g is equal to the proportionality coefficient of Hr with (T*g − Ta) for T ≤ T*g as expected from the enthalpy excess stored by a quenched undercooled melt at the annealing temperature Ta and relaxed towards an equilibrium vitreous state. However, the heat flux measurements found in literature over the last 50 years only gave an out-of-equilibrium Tg since the enthalpy is continuous at T*g without visible heat jump.  相似文献

Gadolinia (Gd2O3) is potentially attractive as a dispersive phase for copper matrix composites due to its excellent thermodynamic stability. In this paper, a series of 1.5 vol% nano-Gd2O3/Cu composites were prepared via an internal oxidation method followed by powder metallurgy in the temperature range of 1123–1223 K with a holding time of 5–60 min. The effects of processing parameters on the microstructure and properties of the composites were analyzed. The results showed that the tensile strength and conductivity of the nano-Gd2O3/Cu composite have a strong link with the microporosity and grain size, while the microstructure of the composite was determined by the sintering temperature and holding time. The optimal sintering temperature and holding time for the composite were 1173 K and 30 min, respectively, under which a maximum ultimate tensile strength of 317 MPa was obtained, and the conductivity was 96.8% IACS. Transmission electron microscopy observations indicated that nano-Gd2O3 particles with a mean size of 76 nm formed a semi-coherent interface with the copper matrix. In the nano-Gd2O3/Cu composite, grain-boundary strengthening, Orowan strengthening, thermal mismatch strengthening, and load transfer strengthening mechanisms occurred simultaneously.  相似文献
