Intervals between two consecutive cardiac beats (R-R intervals) and the subsequent analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) obtained simultaneously from the Polar S810 heart rate monitor (HRM) and an electrocardiogram (ECG) in a supine position were compared in twelve children (age 9.6 +/- 0.9 years) before and after protocol correction. R-R intervals were significantly different between the ECG and the HRM uncorrected and corrected signal (p < 0.001, effect size [ES] = 0.005, and 0.005, respectively). However, the bias (95 % confidence interval) was 0.80 (- 124.76 - 123.16) ms and 0.80 (- 12.76 - 11.16) ms, respectively. HRV parameters derived from both signals were not different (p > 0.05) and well correlated (r > 0.99, p < 0.05), except SD2 (p < 0.05, ES = 0.000; r = 0.99). These data support the validity of the Polar S810 HRM to measure R-R intervals and make the subsequent HRV analysis in a supine position in children.  相似文献

Analysis of heart rate variability after a ranger training course   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We studied the effects of prolonged physical activities on resting heart rate variability (HRV) during a training session attended by 23 cadets of the French military academy. This course lasts 1 month and is concluded by a 5-day field exercise simulation with physical and psychological stress. Data collection took place before (B) and immediately at the end (E) of the course. It included HRV recordings during a stand test (5 minutes lying down and 5 minutes standing), with a Polar R-R monitor, followed by blood sampling to assay plasma testosterone. The results (B and E) showed that the testosterone level fell by approximately 28.6 +/- 7%, indicating a high level of fatigue. During the stand test, the total power (TP) of the HRV spectrum increased in a supine position. The TP of B was 5,515.7 ms2 (SE, 718.4) and of E was 13018.9 ms2 (SE, 2,539.2; p < 0.001). High-frequency (HF) normalized values increased and low-frequency (LF) normalized values fell, regardless of position (HF normalized values and LF normalized values: supine, p < 0.01, p < 0.05; standing, p < 0.05, p < 0.01, respectively). LF:HF ratio fell 66.2 (SE, 12.9%; p < 0.01) in a lying position. During the time-domain analysis of HRV, differences between adjacent normal R-R intervals more than 50 milliseconds, expressed as a percentage, and differences between the coupling intervals of adjacent normal RR intervals increased in the lying position (p < 0.001). These results as a whole suggest that parasympathetic nervous system activity increases with fatigue.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Aging is associated with decreased heart rate variability (HRV). As aerobic training is known to increase HRV, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of long-term lifestyle on HRV in very old adults with regard to their usual physical activity. METHODS: Twenty-four older adults (mean 75.7 +/- 0.2 yr) were divided into two groups according to their sport activities assessed by the Modified Baecke Questionnaire for Older Adults. Sedentary subjects (SED) were compared to elderly regularly involved in sport activities (SP). The subjects were supine for 20 min and the last 5 min were used to determine HR and HRV indexes as the standard deviation of normal intervals (SDNN), the root-mean-square differences of successive normal R-R intervals (RMSSD), and the high-frequency (HF) and low-frequency (LF) power. Physical activity was evaluated during 1 wk by triaxial accelerometry and analyzed in terms of intensity and duration. RESULTS: Daily physical activity energy expenditure given by the accelerometer was significantly higher in SP than in SED (P < 0.05). SP spent more time per week in activity of intensity higher than 3 resting metabolic equivalents (METs), but total activity time was significantly higher for SED than for SP (P < 0.05). SP showed significantly (P < 0.05) lower resting heart rate than SED, higher global HRV (SDNN), and higher parasympathetic-related HRV indexes (RMSSD, HF, and HF/(LF+HF)) (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate that in very old subjects a long-term sportive lifestyle, which increases total daily energy expenditure and physical activity intensity, is associated with higher global HRV and vagal-related indexes and thus may counteract the age-related decline in cardiac autonomic control better than a sedentary lifestyle.  相似文献

INTRODUCTION: This study observed heart rate variability (HRV) measured in order to detect the changes in sympathovagal activity during high ambient (74 degrees C) temperature. HRV is a measure of heart rate (HR) fluctuations around the mean HR and has been used to indicate the balance between parasympathetic and sympathetic function of the autonomic nervous system in medicine and exercise, but not in extreme environments. METHODS: There were 10 healthy male subjects who wore Polar HR monitors (PE 5000) during a 15-min exposure (74.3 +/- 5.9 degrees C). RESULTS: HR increased significantly (p < 0.05) from 66.5 bpm pre-exposure to 106.0 bpm during exposure to the dry heat. A significant decrease in parasympathetic drive was indicated by: (1) a reduction of 89.1 +/- 31.3% in the proportion of interval differences between two normal R-R intervals that were in excess of 50 ms in length (pNN50); (2) an 83.4 +/- 7.0% decrease in the root mean square of successive R-R differences (RMSSD); and (3) an 82.7 +/- 11.4% decrease in the normalized high-frequency (HF norm) values. An increase in a sympathetic drive was indicated by a significant increase in: (1) the normalized low-frequency (LF norm) values of (84.5 +/- 19.4%); and (2) the LF:HF ratio (10.9 +/- 10.8%). DISCUSSION: The results from this study show that exposure to high ambient temperature produces a significant increase in HR through an increase in sympathetic and decrease in parasympathetic drive.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to compare the effects of training at two different altitudes on heart rate variability (HRV) and performance in well-trained swimmers. Eight national-level male swimmers (age = 17.0 +/- 1.8 yrs, weight = 67.0 +/- 6.6 kg, height = 180.4 +/- 7.2 cm, V(O2max) = 60.4 +/- 4.0 ml.min(-1). kg(-1)) trained 17 days at 1200 m altitude (T1200), then, after 6 weeks of moderate training at sea level, reproduced the same training plan at 1850 m (T1850). The training was mainly aerobic with 86 % and 84 % < or = anaerobic threshold for T 1200 and T1850, respectively. Four HRV analysis tests were performed during T1200 and T1850, respectively (pre-test = day 0, test 2 = day 5, test 3 = day 11, post-test = day 17), in supine and standing position. Performance was measured over a 2000-m freestyle test at the altitude of 1200 m. A difference in HRV changes was observed between the two altitudes: during T1200, addition of parasympathetic and sympathetic activity in supine (TP(SU)) (p < 0.05) and standing (TP(ST)) (p < 0.05) position, supine parasympathetic activity (HF(SU)) (p < 0.05), and standing sympathetic activity (LF(ST)) (p < 0.05) were increased and the 2000-m performance was improved (p < 0.05) whereas none of these parameters was changed during T1850. Change in performance was correlated with increase in HF(SU) (r = 0.73; p < 0.05) and tended towards correlation with increase in LF(ST) (r = 0.73; p = 0.06). Conclusion: the same training loads induced a positive effect on HRV and performance at 1200 m but not at 1850 m. This may be the consequence of greater stress due to an interaction between greater hypoxic stimulus and the same training loads. These results highlight two opposing effects: aerobic training increases, whereas hypoxia decreases HF(SU), due to the correlation between HRV and changes in performance during altitude training.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of twelve weeks of aerobic training and eight weeks of training cessation on Heart Rate Variability (HRV). Ten healthy young men (Age: 21.7 +/- 2.2 years; Height: 179.2 +/- 6.9 cm; Mass 72.7 +/- 11.1 kg) completed an incremental test and a 60 degrees tilt test during which R-R intervals were recorded before (T0) and after (T12) 12 weeks of intensive training, and after 2, 4 and 8 weeks of training cessation (D2, D4 and D8, respectively). HRV was computed in time and frequency domains. Training resulted in a significant increase in estimated VO2max after T12 (p < 0.01), followed by a significant decrease during D2 and D8 (p < 0.05). Total power (LF + HF) and low frequency power (LF) increased significantly in the supine position after the training period (p < 0.05) and decreased moderately after D2 (p > 0.05) to stabilize afterwards. LF + HF and LF were not different from T0 at D8 (p > 0.05). It was concluded that eight weeks of training cessation allow to reverse the cardiovascular autonomic adaptations induced by 12 weeks of intensive training in healthy young men.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The diving response includes cardiovascular adjustments known to decrease oxygen uptake and thus prolong apnea duration. As this diving response is in part characterized by a pronounced decrease in heart rate (HR), it is thought to be vagally mediated. METHODS: In five professional breath-hold divers (BHDs) and five less-trained controls (CTL), we investigated whether the diving response is in fact associated with an increase in the root mean square successive difference of the R-R intervals (RMSSD), a time-domain heart rate variability (HRV) index. HR behavior and arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) were continuously recorded during one maximal apnea. Short-term changes in SaO2, HR, and RMSSD were calculated over the complete apnea duration. RESULTS: BHDs presented bi-phasic HR kinetics, with two HR decreases (32 +/- 17% and 20 +/- 10% of initial HR). The second HR decrease, which was concomitant to the pronounced SaO2 decrease, was also simultaneous to a marked increase in RMSSD. CTL showed only one HR decrease (50 +/- 10% of initial HR), which appeared before the concomitant SaO2 and RMSSD changes. When all subject data were combined, arterial desaturation was positively correlated with total apnea time (r = 0.87, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: This study indicates that baroreflex stimulation and hypoxia may be involved in the bi-phasic HR response of BHDs and thus in their longer apnea duration.  相似文献

Ambulatory heart rate monitors and clinical electrocardiographic (ECG) devices are capable of measuring the length of consecutive cardiac periods (RR intervals). The aim of the study was to assess the agreement between the Polar 810s heart rate monitor (Polar) and the Reynolds digital ambulatory ECG using Pathfinder software version 8.4 (Reynolds v8.4) during cycle ergometry. For this purpose, eight subjects completed incremental cycling exercise that began at 60 W and increased by 30 W each 2-minute period until volitional fatigue. Simultaneous recording of the ECG (Reynolds Pathfinder), RR interval (Polar), and respiratory parameters (Metamax 3B) were undertaken at rest and throughout the exercise period. No significant differences were found in RR intervals measured by Polar and Reynolds v8.4 at any relative intensity. Polar and Reynolds v8.4 displayed strong linear relationships at all relative intensities (r2=0.927 to 0.998). Bland and Altman analyses between Polar and Reynolds v8.4 consistently demonstrated minimal bias in absolute RR interval (<0.10 ms) and the limits of agreement for group differences in RR interval and heart rate were less than +/- 10 ms and +/- 2 beats.min (-1) for all relative intensities, respectively. Power spectral analysis provided similar results for both systems in all bandwidths studied during rest and low intensity exercise. However, significant differences and large relative limits of agreement (>100 % of mean of paired means) were identified in UF at intensities > 40 % VO2max, HF at intensities > 60 % VO2max and LF during exercise at 80-100 % VO2max. These findings demonstrate that RR intervals and heart rate measurements obtained using Polar and Reynolds v8.4 are in good agreement. However, caution should be exercised when interpreting spectral analysis of RR interval data derived from different acquisition systems during physical activity.  相似文献

PURPOSE: In the middle-aged, it has been shown that moderate physical activity is associated with increased global HR variability (HRV) and vagal-related HRV indexes. However, the relative effect of quantity and intensity of physical activity on HRV is still unknown. The purpose of this study was to compare HRV indexes in three groups of subjects presenting different long-term physical activity profiles: sedentary subjects (SED) with low-energy expenditure (PAEE) and two groups of subjects with equivalent moderate PAEE, but differing in terms of intensity of physical activity (active (ACT) and sportive (SP) individuals). METHODS: Forty-three middle-aged subjects (61.2 +/- 4.3 yr) were divided into the three groups on the basis of a physical activity questionnaire (Modified Baecke Questionnaire for Older Adults). Physical activity was evaluated by accelerometry for 1 wk. Time and frequency domain HRV indexes were determined during quiet periods in the morning on 5-min stationary R-R interval segments under controlled breathing. Quality of life was evaluated using the SF-36 Health Survey Questionnaire. RESULTS: SP spent more time in moderate to very high activities than ACT (2.1 +/- 0.1 vs 0.6 +/- 0.1 h.wk(-1); P < 0.05) and less time in very light to light activities (62.8 +/- 2.0 vs 73.7 +/- 1.7 h.wk(-1); P < 0.05). SP presented higher vagal-related HRV indexes than SED (P < 0.05), whereas increases in ACT were less marked. ACT and SP had similar health status scores, which were higher than for SED (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: In older adults with different lifestyles, habitual moderate PAEE is associated with better self-estimated overall health status and higher vagal-related HRV indexes compared with subjects with low PAEE, especially when moderate- to very high-intensity physical activities are undertaken.  相似文献

We investigated heavy training- and overtraining-induced changes in heart rate and blood pressure variability during supine rest and in response to head-up tilt in female endurance athletes. Nine young female experimental athletes (ETG) increased their training volume at the intensity of 70-90% of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) by 125% and training volume at the intensity of < 70% of VO2max by 100% during 6-9 weeks. The corresponding increases in 6 female control athletes were 5% and 10%. The VO2max of the ETG and the control athletes did not change, but it decreased from 53.0 +/- 2.2 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1) to 50.2 +/- 2.3 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1) (mean+/-SEM, p < 0.01) in five overtrained experimental athletes. In the ETG, low-frequency power of R-R interval (RRI) variability during supine rest increased from 6 +/- 1 ms2 x 10(2) to 9 +/- 2 ms2 x 10(2) (p < 0.05). The 30/15 index (= RRI(max 30)/RRI(min 15), where RRI(max 30) denotes the longest RRI close to the 30th RRI and RRI(min 15) denotes the shortest RRI close to the 15th RRI after assuming upright position in the head-up tilt test), decreased as a result of training (analysis of variance, p = 0.05). In the ETG, changes in VO2max were related to the changes in total power of RRI variability during standing (r = 0.74, p < 0.05). Heart rate response to prolonged standing after head-up tilt was either accentuated or attenuated in the overtrained athletes as compared to the normal training state. We conclude that heavy training could increase cardiac sympathetic modulation during supine rest and attenuated biphasic baroreflex-mediated response appearing just after shifting to an upright position. Heavy-training-/overtraining-induced decrease in maximal aerobic power was related to decreased heart rate variability during standing. Physiological responses to overtraining were individual.  相似文献

Previous investigators have suggested that maximal exercise performed 24 h before the end of bed rest, a spaceflight analog, restores prebed rest plasma volume, baroreflex responses, and orthostatic tolerance. PURPOSE: In this case report, we examined the effect of a similar exercise protocol 24 h before a Shuttle landing on the orthostatic responses of four crewmembers (EX) after spaceflights of 8-14 d. Four additional crewmembers (CON) served as controls and did not perform exercise during the final day of the flight. METHODS: Each crewmember performed a 10-min stand test approximately 10 d before launch (L-10) and within 1-2 h of landing (R+0). Cardiac stroke volume was measured (Doppler ultrasound) supine and during each min of standing for three EX and three CON subjects. RESULTS: Preflight, all crewmembers completed the stand test and each group had similar heart rate and blood pressure responses. Postflight, all subjects also completed the 10-min stand test. Each group had similarly elevated supine and standing heart rates, elevated diastolic and mean arterial blood pressures, and reduced pulse pressures compared to L-10. However, postflight cardiac output, mean +/- SEM, (EX: 4.5+/-0.6 L x min(-1); CON: 3.1+/-0.3 L x min(-1)) and stroke volume (EX: 43+/-7 mL x beat; CON: 30+/-6 mL x beat) were higher after 10 min standing in the EX subjects compared to CON subjects. CONCLUSIONS: For these four crewmembers, maximal exercise performed 24 h before landing may have helped maintain stroke volume but did not maintain heart rate and blood pressure responses during standing compared to preflight.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To investigate relationships between heart rate variability (HRV) and peripheral and central performance measures, 17 cross-country (X-C) skiers and seven canoeists were studied before and after a training period of 7 months. METHODS: For the skiers and canoeists respectively, leg and arm peak torque (Tq), time to peak torque (TiTq), and total work (Wrk) were measured in an isokinetic dynamometer. Maximal oxygen uptakes (VO(2max)) were obtained from treadmill tests. Power spectral analysis of HRV was performed on electrocardiographic recordings in the resting supine position and after a tilt to yield power in the low-frequency (0.04--0.15 Hz) and high-frequency (0.15--0.45 Hz) components of HRV. RESULTS: The change in normalized LF-variability in standing (Delta LFnT) correlated (P < 0.01) with the changes in TiTq (r = 0.63), max lactate (r = -0.63), and VO(2max) (r = -0.53). The change in absolute LFT was inversely correlated with the change in Tq. Subjects who improved VO(2max) were characterized by consistently higher high-frequency and total HRV than subjects with deteriorated aerobic capacity (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The results suggest that improved measures of both peripheral and central (aerobic) work capacities were associated with a reduction of low-frequency HRV in the tilted position. High-frequency and total HRV did not change in proportion with changes in muscle performance or aerobic capacity, but the ability to further improve VO(2max) with training in these already fit subjects seemed to depend on their average levels of these HRV measures, interpreted to reflect parasympathetic activity.  相似文献

INTRODUCTION: Vestibular activation of semicircular canals has been linked to increased activity of parasympathetic neurons and has been proposed as a contributing factor to orthostatic intolerance. However, the functional consequences of head yaw rotation during orthostasis on human autonomic function have not been documented. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of voluntary head rotation on autonomic function during upright tilt. METHODS: ECG, beat-by-beat finger arterial pressure, respiratory rate, PetCO2, and cerebral blood flow velocity were recorded in 10 healthy subjects. Subjects were studied supine and during two separate 5-min periods of upright tilt to 70 degrees with and without continuous head yaw rotation (180 degrees at 0.25 Hz). Breathing frequency was controlled strictly at 0.25 Hz during each trial and data were analyzed in both time and frequency domains. Cross-spectral techniques (transfer functions) were used to assess cardiovagal baroreflex sensitivity and dynamic cerebral autoregulation. RESULTS: Head rotation during upright tilt increased transfer function magnitude between systolic pressure and R-R interval at the low frequency (0.04-0.15 Hz) from 8.1 +/- 2.3 to 10.4 +/- 1.6 ms x mmHg(-1) (p = 0.04), but did not affect estimates of vagal-cardiac efferent activity or cerebral blood flow velocity, hemodynamic oscillations, or dynamic cerebral autoregulation. CONCLUSIONS: Increased cardiovagal baroreflex sensitivity in conjunction with preserved cerebral autoregulation suggests that head rotation during upright tilt is unlikely to trigger orthostatic instability in normal, healthy humans.  相似文献

BACKGROUND/HYPOTHESIS: During parabolic flight, in the standing position, changes are partly due to an acute shift in fluid between the lower extremities, the head and the thorax (Va?da P, et al. J Appl Physiol 1997; 82:1091-7; and Bailliart O, et al. J Appl Physiol 1998; 85:2100-5). We hypothesized that modifications of parasympathetic activity associated with changes in hydrostatic pressure gradients induced by changes in gravity could be detected by analysis of short time periods. METHODS: We assessed heart rate variability (HRV) in 11 healthy volunteers by indices of temporal analysis (NN, SDNN, RMSSD) and normalized indices such as coefficients of variation CV-SDNN and CV-RMSSD and ratio SDNN/RMSSD. A lower body negative pressure (LBNP) at -50 mm Hg was randomly applied during the microgravity phase (0 Gz) to counteract the lack of hydrostatic pressure in the lower part of the body. RESULTS: NN, CV-SDNN and CV-RMSSD decreased during hypergravity phases and increased during microgravity and during early normogravity (1 Gz) period at the end of parabolas. With LBNP changes are less pronounced at 0 Gz and in the 1 Gz post parabolic period. CONCLUSION: We concluded that parasympathetic nervous activity is recordable by temporal analysis of HRV during short periods of time. LBNP applied during 0 Gz phase reduced the parasympathetic activation at 0 Gz and post parabolic 1 Gz.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: This study was performed to investigate the effects of aerobic training on orthostatic tolerance and to quantify the post-training changes in cardiovascular response and heart rate variability (HRV). METHODS: Tolerance and circulatory responses to two types of lower body negative pressure (LBNP) were examined and compared in a group of healthy male students before and after 6 mo of aerobic training, and the results were further compared with a group of athletes (runners). Changes in HRV associated with training were analyzed by conventional and time-varying autoregressive spectral analysis, as well as by approximate entropy measurement (ApEn)--a statistic quantifying heart rate "complexity" derived from non-linear dynamics. RESULTS: After aerobic training, there was an initial transient hypotension during the supine -50 mmHg LBNP testing and a significant decrease in tolerance to upright graded LBNP in most of the student-subjects. Moreover, after training, there was a significant decrease in ApEn value of the HRV time series during both supine control and LBNP testing, and the rate of cardiac vagal withdrawal and sympathetic activation during the onset of LBNP was faster than that before training. CONCLUSIONS: The present study has provided further evidence that certain types of aerobic training may affect orthostatic tolerance and may be associated with a loss of complexity of HRV during supine resting and orthostatic stress.  相似文献

INTRODUCTION: To test the hypothesis that G-suit inflation could increase cardiac chronotropic responses to baroreceptor stimulation and enhance baroreflex buffering of BP, the carotid-cardiac baroreflex response of 12 subjects was measured across two levels of lower body negative pressure (LBNP = 0 and 50 mm Hg) and two levels of G-suit inflation (0 and 50 mm Hg) in random order. METHODS: Carotid-cardiac baroreflex stimulation was delivered via a silastic neck pressure cuff and responsiveness quantified by determination of the maximum slope of the stimulus-response function between R-R intervals (ms) and their respective carotid distending pressures (mmHg). RESULTS: Mean +/- SE baseline control baroreflex responsiveness was 3.8+/-0.4 ms x mm Hg(-1). LBNP reduced the baroreflex response to 2.7+/-0.4 ms x mm Hg(-1), but G-suit inflation with LBNP restored the baroreflex response to 4.3+/-0.6 ms x mm Hg(-1). CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that, in addition to increased venous return and elevated peripheral resistance, G-suit inflation may provide protection against the debilitating effects of blood distribution to the lower extremities during orthostatic challenges such as standing or high +Gz acceleration by increasing cardiovascular responsiveness to carotid baroreceptor stimulation.  相似文献
