We examined an interesting case of chromomycosis that had a characteristic Ga-67 accumulation. This patient had had widespread chromomycosis skin lesions for 8 years. We performed Ga-67 scintigraphy in an attempt to obtain additional information on the site and extent of the lesion. Ga-67 scintigraphy revealed not only all subcutaneous nodules but also an unsuspected enlarged lymphnode and a visceral lesion. This case indicates that Ga-67 scintigraphy is a very useful method to use in detecting the site and extension of chromomycosis, especially in the nodal and the visceral lesions, and sometimes might help in differential diagnosis.  相似文献

The EMT-6 sarcoma-like tumor of BALB/c mice can be grown as a solid subcutaneous transplantable tumor in vivo or as a monolayer culture in vitro. We have studied the uptake of gallium-67 by this tumor growing subcutaneously on the backs of 6-week-old BALB/c mice. After i.v. administration of Ga-67 citrate, tumor uptakes were as high as any others reported for mouse tumors. Also, for unknown reasons, there was appreciable reduction in tumor uptake with increasing amounts of Ga-67 citrate, even in the microcurie range. Furthermore, when mouse serum is prelabeled with Ga-67 and then injected, the EMT-6 uptake is greater than with Ga-67 administered as citrate (p less than 0.02). We believe that the finding of avid Ga-67 uptake in vivo helps to establish this unique in vivo/in vitro tumor system as a valid experimental model for studies regarding the mechanism of Ga-67 accumulation by neoplastic tissue.  相似文献

Eight cases of pulmonary embolism were evaluated with Ga-67 citrate scintigraphy. Of the eight patients, all but one showed evidence of abnormal Ga-67 citrate localization within involved regions of the lung as demonstrated by ventilation-perfusion lung scintigraphy. The sole patient who did not demonstrate Ga-67 localization within the lung had marked breast accumulation of the radiotracer which may have obscured lung parenchymal uptake. Since Ga-67 citrate is known to accumulate within inflammatory lung processes, this radiotracer would not have a specific role in differentiating pulmonary embolism from these conditions. This study disagrees with the results of other studies in the medical literature that describe such a role.  相似文献

A histologically proven case of extraosseous xanthomatosis is presented. Both Ga-67 citrate and Tc-99m-MDP imagings demonstrated tumor uptake of radiotracers. A second Ga-67 imaging taken after excisional biopsy of the left knee lesion revealed disappearance of the lesional uptake of the tracer seen on the preoperative Ga-67 scan. Radiotracer accumulation in extraosseous xanthomatosis has not been reported previously.  相似文献

We report intense accumulation of gallium-67 (Ga-67) citrate in a pancreatic endocrine tumor. A 69-year-old woman was admitted because of cough, fever, and weight loss. An abdominal enhanced computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a large tumor located between the liver and pancreas as well as swollen paraaortic lymph nodes. Whole-body scintigraphy with Ga-67 revealed intense accumulation in the upper abdomen corresponding to the mass, as well as in the midabdomen and the mediastinal lesion. Percutaneous needle biopsy was performed, and the diagnosis was adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. The patient's condition deteriorated, and she died 2 months after admission. The pathological examination at autopsy revealed a pancreatic endocrine tumor. No report has described findings of Ga-67 citrate scintigraphy of pancreatic endocrine tumors. Pancreatic endocrine tumor should be included in a differential diagnosis when such scintigraphic findings are encountered.  相似文献

A single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with 201Tl chloride (Tl-201) was carried out prospectively in 50 patients with pulmonary nodules and its diagnostic value was compared with those of 67Ga citrate (Ga-67) and 99mTc-labeled hexamethylpropyleneamine-oxime (Tc-99m-HMPAO). Tl-201 SPECT provided 88% (early)-91% (delayed) sensitivity, 85% (early and delayed) specificity and 87% (early)-89% (delayed) accuracy. The sensitivity of the Tl-201 planar image was 56 (early)-62% (delayed), which was significantly lower than that of SPECT. Delayed SPECT images at 2 hour postinjection were more preferable to disclose the malignant pulmonary nodule than early SPECT images at 15 minutes postinjection. The application of SPECT with Ga-67 failed to improve the sensitivity of planar imaging for malignant pulmonary nodules. Tc-99m-HMPAO was concentrated in 62% of 13 patients with malignant pulmonary nodules, which was slightly higher than Ga-67 in 54% of 28 patients. In an analysis of the histologic types of lung cancer, the sensitivity of Tl-201 was not significantly different in all types. On the other hand, Ga-67 was positive only in 25% of 12 patients with adenocarcinoma. A combination of SPECT and Tl-201 is the best choice among routine scintigraphic techniques for depicting malignant pulmonary nodules. The Tl-201 SPECT image may play a complementary role in the characterization of pulmonary nodules which are revealed on a plain radiograph and computed tomography.  相似文献

Gallium-67 citrate (Ga-67) scintigraphy was performed in a patient with adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas. Intense and homogeneous uptake was observed in the tumor. Few reports have dealt with Ga-67 findings in pancreatic cancers. Ga-67 uptake in the tumor was assumed to be due to accumulation in the component of squamous cell carcinoma. This case suggested that Ga-67 citrate scintigraphy may be useful in detecting adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas. To our knowledge, no report has described findings of Ga-67 citrate scintigraphy of adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas. Radiologists should remember adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas when encountering such scintigraphic findings.  相似文献

A 72-year-old man was hospitalized for further evaluation of a space-occupying lesion in the abdomen. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a tumor 40 mm in diameter in the abdomen. Anterior Ga-67 citrate scintigraphy revealed a region of accumulation of radioactivity in the abdomen corresponding to the tumor. Mesenteric desmoid was diagnosed on the basis of histological findings for the excised tumor. These finding suggested that mesenteric desmoid may be one of the tumors which show high uptake of Ga-67.  相似文献

A 6-yr-old boy underwent a total body Ga-67 citrate imaging study because of a large mass of Hodgkin's lymphoma in the left neck and the left anterior chest wall region. The images showed intense uptake in the left neck extending anteroinferiorly to the left upper chest wall corresponding to the left neck and chest region. In addition, there was mild cervical-upper thoracic scoliosis with convexity to the right and mild scoliosis of the lower lumbar scoliosis with concavity to the left. After three cycles of chemotherapy, in the follow-up Ga-67 citrate total body images seven months after his first Ga-67 citrate imaging, the intense uptake in the left neck and the left upper chest wall had been resolved and the scoliosis of the cervical-thoracic and lower lumbar spine had also been reversed to normal. This case shows that a Ga-67 citrate imaging study is useful for first diagnosis and subsequent monitoring of the therapeutic effects in a follow-up imaging. Also Ga-67 citrate imaging provided evidence that the scoliosis had been reversed.  相似文献

Tissue distributions of i.v.-injected Ga-67 citrate and [59Fe] ferric citrate were measured in normal mice and in lymphoid-tumor hosts. The study arose out of previously reported tissue-culture work showing marked transferrin stimulation of Ga-67 and Fe-59 uptakes by cultured cells from mouse lymphoid tumors. In vivo, however, no obvious correlation was found between Ga-67 and Fe-59 tissue distributions; indeed, Ga-67 showed high affinity for tumor tissue and low affinity for hemopoietic tissues, while for Fe-59 the reverse applied. Taken together, these comparisons of kinetics and distributions for Ga-67 and Fe-59 suggest that a tissue's avidity for Ga-67 is strongly influenced by other factors besides the cell population's capacity for transferrin interactions.  相似文献

Tumor scintigraphy, using Tc(V)-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid (Tc(V)-DMS) was performed in 58 patients with soft tissue tumors, and the results were compared with that of Ga-67 citrate. Tc(V)-DMS was found to have a sensitivity of 90% for malignant tumors including aggressive fibromatosis compared to that of Ga-67 citrate, which was 56%. However, the specificity of Tc(V)-DMS for these tumors was 71% but with Ga-67 citrate the specificity was 80%. The imaging accuracy in soft tissue tumors with Tc(V)-DMS and Ga-67 citrate was 78% and 71%, respectively. Although the accumulation of Tc(V)-DMS has been detected in some benign soft tissue tumors, the reduced accumulation in inflammatory lesions compared to Ga-67 citrate was recognized, and Tc(V)-DMS could be of great use in the detection of extension or location of malignant soft tissue tumors.  相似文献

Altered biodistribution of Ga-67 by intramuscular gold salts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The authors observed a deviation from the normal scintigraphic pattern of Ga-67 citrate biodistribution. An 8-year-old black girl with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, who had been treated with intramuscular injections of gold salts, had a Ga-67 study as part of her workup. The study demonstrated no hepatic uptake, but showed elevated skeletal and renal activity. This characteristic biodistribution of Ga-67 may be due to inhibition of lysosomal enzymes by gold and/or to accumulation of gold in lysosomes. To study these possibilities, the authors reviewed the mechanisms of Ga-67 localization and gold metabolism. Alteration of the Ga-67 citrate scintigraphic pattern due to earlier treatment with gold salts has not been reported previously.  相似文献

Two patients with pancreatitis in whom an area of predominant uptake of Ga-67 citrate was demonstrated involving the entire pancreas are presented. Ultrasound and x-ray CT did not reveal any morphologic abnormalities in the pancreas, whereas Ga-67 citrate imaging indicated the presence of active inflammatory change. Ga-67 citrate imaging may be useful in confirming the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis or acute exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis based on clinical and laboratory data, especially when ultrasound and/or x-ray CT cannot reveal any morphologic abnormalities in the pancreas.  相似文献

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is the most common soft tissue malignancy in adults. The Ga-67 citrate scan findings of an extremity-located MFH, the most common location of this neoplasm, have never been published in English language journals to the best of the authors' knowledge. Ga-67 citrate and Tc-99m MDP scans of the thigh mass accurately depicted the tumor's local extent, including the presence of central ischemic necrosis within the tumor, and the absence of adjacent osseous involvement and distant metastases, as correlated with computed tomography, angiography, and pathologic examinations.  相似文献

Ga-67 citrate scintigraphy was performed on a 29-year-old man who had been diagnosed as having pulmonary sarcoidosis by a transbronchial lung biopsy. A Ga-67 citrate scintigram showed increased uptake not only in the pulmonary hilum and mediastinum, but also in the thyroid gland and the right ilium. Chronic thyroiditis was confirmed by aspiration biopsy of the thyroid gland, and fibrous dysplasia was confirmed by CT guided biopsy of the right ilium. Extrapulmonary Ga-67 uptake in patients with sarcoidosis does not necessarily indicate the involvement of other tissues and organs.  相似文献

An orbital pseudotumor causing proptosis, diplopia, and gaze palsy was imaged with Ga-67 citrate and showed persistent intense activity for five days. This may be the first case of gallium uptake into an orbital pseudotumor to be reported in the literature. This case report demonstrates the use of Ga-67 citrate imaging in the early diagnostic workup of this disorder.  相似文献

Two pediatric patients with salmonella infections (one with typhoid fever and the second with salmonella C2 gastroenteritis), had a diffuse abdominal uptake of Ga-67 citrate. The possible explanation for this finding is discussed. Salmonella infection should be included as a cause in the differential diagnosis of diffuse accumulation of Ga-67 citrate.  相似文献

Fourteen children with histopathologically confirmed neuroblastoma underwent sequential correlative imaging studies using I-131 MIBG, Tc-99m MDP, and Ga-67 citrate during various stages of the disease. Of the patients 86% showed I-131 MIBG accumulation in the primary tumoral site, whereas 71% showed Tc-99m MDP and 79% Ga-67 citrate uptake. In 86% at least one of the two latter radiopharmaceuticals concentrated in the primary tumor. The use of all three radiopharmaceuticals raised the detection rate to 93%. Of the osseous or extraosseous metastases 100% were detected by Tc-99m MDP studies. The I-131 MIBG studies were positive in 71% of the osseous metastases and in 70% of the extraosseous metastases. No Ga-67 citrate uptake was demonstrated in osseous metastases, although one extraosseous lung metastasis concentrated this radiopharmaceutical. Tc-99m MDP bone imaging was the best method for diagnosing metastatic spread of the disease and for monitoring the results of treatment. Primary tumor uptake was best indicated by I-131 MIBG. Both Ga-67 citrate and I-131 MIBG were superior to Tc-99m MDP with regard to accurately demonstrating the extent of primary tumors. Only Tc-99m MDP indicated the relationship of these tumors to the kidneys and neighboring osseous structures, providing early screening of kidney compression. Ga-67 citrate study was mainly indicated in tumors with catecholamine depletion, which failed to concentrate the other two radiopharmaceuticals. I-131 MIBG proved especially useful in detecting neuroblastoma with negative Tc-99m MDP and Ga-67 citrate studies and also proved to be helpful with those cases in which I-131 MIBG was planned for therapy.
