The influence of amphetamine addiction on pregnancy and the newborn infant

The influence of amphetamine addiction on pregnancy and the newborn infant has been studied retrospectively in 23 cases. Six of the mothers claimed to have discontinued their abuse in early pregnancy, while the remaining 17 mothers continued throughout. In comparison with the average number of visits by pregnant Swedish women to maternal health centres, the 17 women who continued their abuse made significantly fewer visits, although there was a wide variation. Complications related to pregnancy and delivery were few, however. One child with a myelomeningocele was stillborn. Six children were preterm and three small for gestational age. Two full-term children were extremely drowsy and in need of tube feeding, symptoms that might be due to the maternal abuse. Eight of the ten mothers, who had previous children placed in foster homes by the Social Welfare Department, left the hospital with their newborn infant in their care as well as all the eleven primiparae.

患儿男 ,7d。因气促、发绀 1d入院。第 1胎第 1产 ,足月顺产 ,Apger评分 9分 ,出生体重 36 0 0g ,生后第 6天发现呼吸困难 ,面色苍白 ,发绀。查体 :烦躁不安 ,面色苍白 ,呼吸急促 ,两肺闻及湿性音 ,左侧呼吸音明显低下 ,叩浊 ,心音响 ,律齐。胸片示左侧胸腔大量积液 ,胸腔穿刺为淡黄色均匀液体。化验 :胸水常规 :细胞数 132 0 0× 10 6,淋巴细胞0 99,中性细胞 0 0 1,糖 6 2 7mmol/L ,比重 1 0 15 ,蛋白2 5 7g/L ,氯化物 10 8mmol/L ,甘油三脂 2 2 0 7mmol /L ,极低密度脂蛋白胆固醇 10mmol /L ,钾 3 6 7mmol/L ,钠 138mmol/L ,钙…     

Mediastinal teratoma in a newborn infant

A newborn with mediastinal teratoma developed tachypnea and cyanosis within the first hours of life. Chest x-ray revealed a subtotal opacification of the left hemithorax, which at first was suspected to be caused by a cardiomegaly. Ultrasound examination demonstrated a large mass in the left hemithorax with multiple echo-free areas. This finding was suspicious for a mediastinal teratoma. The tumor which was originating from the mediastinum was apple-sized and could be resected totally by thoracotomy. Histology revealed a cystic teratoma covered with normal thymus tissue.     

新生儿结核性脑膜炎一例

患儿 男,9d,因“皮肤黄染3d,反复抽搐1d”入院。患儿系G1P1,足月顺产,其母否认孕期感染史,否认胎膜早破史、宫内窘迫史及出生后抢救史,Apgar评分1、5、10min均为10分,出生体重3250g。入院前3d发现患儿颜面皮肤黄染,不伴发热、抽搐、纳差,大小便颜色性状无明显变化,未予特殊处理。入院前1d,患儿突发抽搐,呈头偏向一侧,口角向一侧抽动,四肢屈曲,伴口唇发绀,不伴双眼凝视及发热,反复发作约10min。入院前共抽搐3次,症状相似。     

Cytomegalovirus-mononucleosis in a newborn infant.

A 3-week-old infant with haemophilia A developed fever and mononucleosis and was found to have cytomegalovirus, infection, possibly acquired by blood transfusion. At 6 months, while still excreting cytomgalovirus, he developed transient clinical jaundice with a hepatitis-like picture.
