Multiple clear cell acanthomas. A clinical, histological, and ultrastructural report

A case of multiple clear cell acanthomas in a 64-year-old woman is reported. The clinical and histological findings of this rare entity are consistent with the hypothesis that clear cell acanthomas are benign epidermal tumors. An ultrastructural study was performed with special emphasis on the melanocytic-keratinocytic interaction.     

Syringomas Accentuated on the Upper Lip

An 8‐year‐old boy presented with small, skin‐colored papules of 9‐months duration on the upper lip. Results of the histopathologic examination were consistent with syringoma. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of syringoma of the mustache area of a child.     

A Case of Axillar Syringomas

Syringoma is common benign neoplasm that is mostly seen around the eyes. However these tumors can occur in atypical locations such as the axilla. Although the axilla is possible site for syringoma, no previous case of syringoma limited to the axilla has been reported in Korea. We report here on a case of syringoma that appeared as grouped yellow-brownish papules limited to the axillae of a 24-year-old woman.     

Syringomas on the buttocks: case report

Syringomas are benign adnexal neoplasms of eccrine ductal origin. They are most commonly described in females and typically are located on the anterior surfaces of the body. Syringomas rarely are reported on other regions of the body, especially the buttocks. We present the case of a 62-year-old man with multiple asymptomatic syringomas of 40 years' duration on his buttocks as well as the upper anterior thighs, groin, malar cheeks, and periorbital areas. This case is unique in that the duration and distribution of the lesions are more extensive than other cases reported in the literature.     

洒渣鼻的病理组织学研究

本文对32例酒渣鼻患者皮损标本进行病理组织学和超微结构的观察.发现本病主要为炎症反应,浸润的炎症细胞主要是淋巴细胞、浆细胞、组织细胞和肥大细胞.淋巴细胞渗入表皮细胞间隙和毛囊上皮.较多的肥大细胞有显著的脱颗粒现象.     

Cystic clear cell acanthoma

An histologically typical clear cell acanthoma was identified forming a cystic structure. The finding of clear cell acanthoma within a cyst is histologically unique.     

Polypous clear cell acanthoma

We report on two cases of polypous clear cell acanthoma. This growth pattern is unusual for the tumor and has not been reported in the literature. Histologically, these two tumors fulfill the criteria of clear cell acanthoma.     

Multiple clear cell acanthomas

Multiple clear cell acanthomas were observed on the legs of a 77-year-old male patient. Some of the tumors showed a tendency to aggregate in a circumscribed area on his right lower leg. The multiple occurrence of these benign epidermal tumors is extremely rare; moreover, there has not been observed any tendency to aggregation so far.     

Polypoid clear cell acanthoma of the scalp

Clear cell acanthoma (CCA) is a rare, benign epithelial tumor most frequently found on the lower extremities. Its clinical appearance may vary considerably, and cases of multiple lesions have been reported. The diagnosis is made by viewing the characteristic histologic features. This case describes an unusual scalp lesion that clinically and histologically shows unique polypoid features.     

皮肤透明细胞鳞状细胞癌

报告1例面部透明细胞鳞状细胞癌.患者女,90岁.左面颊新生物伴溃疡半年余.组织病理检查示:癌细胞呈巢状,细胞多角形,胞质透明,核明显异形.皮损组织病理检查证实为透明细胞鳞状细胞癌.     

Multiple clear cell trichoblastoma

Clear cell trichoblastoma is a very rare neoplasm with follicular differentiation described recently. Only three cases of clear cell trichoblastoma were reported in literature and all of them were presented as single lesion. Here, we report a case of clear cell trichoblastoma with multiple lesions in a child. Two biopsies from the patient showed that the neoplasm was located in the dermis, and step sections showed that they were connected with the follicular infundibulum. The neoplasm was almost made of clear cells that had clear cytoplasm and eccentrically disposed nucleus. At the periphery of the neoplasm, the clear cells showed palisade array with the nucleus at the pole opposite the thick basement membrane, and only a few basal cells were located at the periphery of the neoplasm. Periodic acid-Schiff stain was almost negative in the clear cells. Immunohistochemistry studies showed the neoplasm stained positive for AE1/AE3 but negative for CAM 5.2, cytokeratin 7, cytokeratin 20, epithelia antigen, carcinoembryonic antigen, epithelial membrane antigen, androgen receptor, S-100 and CD34. The clinical and histopathological characters suggested the diagnosis of multiple clear cell trichoblastoma. After 20 months' follow up, the lesions of the patient showed incomplete regression, which is a rare phenomenon in neoplasm with follicular differentiation.     

On the nature of clear cell acanthomas

Five clear cell acanthomas were studied using a panel of immunohistological markers. The results were compared with those from basal cell papillomas, with and without clear cell change, and with lesions of psoriasis and lichen planus. The results do not support the contention that these lesions are variants of basal cell papillomas nor that they are true neoplasms.     

Myxoid clear cell sarcoma

Clear cell sarcoma is a rare soft-tissue tumor presenting typically in the extremities of young adults. It has been also known as malignant melanoma of the soft parts because of the presence of melanin and cytoplasmic melanosomes. However, clear cell sarcoma is, at present, usually considered as a unique lesion because the t(12;22)(q13;q12) translocation is present only in clear cell sarcoma. Myxoid malignant melanoma is now a well-recognized morphologic variant of malignant melanoma. However, a myxoid variant of clear cell sarcoma has not been well described yet. We report a case of myxoid clear cell sarcoma occurring on the heel in a 22-year-old man. The tumor was composed of nests and fascicles of oval to fusiform cells with clear to pale eosinophilic cytoplasm, often separated by fibrous septa. The tumor cells were reactive for S-100 protein, HMB-45, and MART-1. Variably sized cysts lined by one or several layers of tumor cells were observed. Alcian blue and mucicarmine stains demonstrated prominent mucin deposition in the tumor stroma and especially in the lumen of the cysts. Fluorescence in situ hybridization for the Ewing sarcoma gene showed rearrangement in nearly all of the neoplastic cells.
