Renal trauma

Urinary tract injury occurs in 10% of all abdominal trauma patients, and the kidney is the most commonly injured organ in the urinary tract. CT with contrast enhancement is the modality of choice for cross-sectional imaging of renal trauma because it quickly and accurately can demonstrate injury to the renal parenchyma, renal pedicles, and associated abdominal or retroperitoneal organs. This article reviews the mechanism, clinical features, imaging modalities, and CT imaging findings according to the classification of the renal trauma. Trauma to underlying abnormal kidneys, iatrogenic renal injuries, and complications of renal trauma are reviewed also.     

Renal hypertension

Hypertension caused by renal abnormalities represents a small but significant percentage of the total hypertensive population. In each case, the abnormality affects renal hemodynamics, resulting in the excess secretion of renin. Renal hypertension may result from major vascular abnormalities--most often stenoses--microcirculatory disease, and renal parenchymal processes that secondarily affect the circulation.

Renal pseudotumors

OBJECTIVE: Renal cell carcinoma is the most common malignant tumor to involve the kidneys; however, a number of other entities--called renal pseudotumors--may mimic renal neoplasms on imaging. This article presents the imaging features and pathologic correlation of some of the common and uncommon renal pseudomasses. CONCLUSION: Many renal lesions look similar to renal cell carcinoma on radiologic imaging. The imaging features of renal pseudotumors presented in this article will help radiologists to identify them and to triage these patients for appropriate management.     

Renal tuberculosis

Imaging of renal tuberculosis is reviewed, with the observation that early changes are best seen with urography/pyelography and chronic changes are best evaluated with ultrasound/computed tomography. Imaging procedures are of limited value until a proven bacteriologic diagnosis is made.

报告了肾动脉狭窄采用Ｐａｌｍａｚ支架留置的程序，并报告了典型病例和十三个半月的追踪结果。结合文献复习讨论了肾动脉内支架留置的适应证和禁忌证及作者的初步体会。肾动脉内支架留置后的长期开通需要进一步追踪观察。     

Renal tumors

This pictural essay presents the different imaging patterns of the main renal tumor processes described in the latest pathological classification. Most of them make it possible to suggest certain histological types in order to modify the surgical approach.     

Renal MDCT

Multidetector CT has expanded the utility of CT by improving longitudinal resolution and acquisition speed. Applications include diagnosis of renal vascular and parenchymal injuries, renal tumor diagnosis and staging, the emerging field of CT urography and CT angiography. This summary review illustrates MDCT approaches to the evaluation of trauma, suspected tumor and imaging of the urinary tract and discusses other applications in renal inflammatory disease, urolithiasis and renal anomalies.
