Abstract: | Abstract: Objective The study aimed to evaluate the influence of lactobacillus and bifidobacterium on blood lipid level in adults. Methods Relevant literatures published between the earliest available date to January of 2016 were retrieved from electronic databases, including Pubmed, EMbase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, WANFANG, and VIP. The inclusion criteria were clinical randomized controlled trials (RCT) involving regulation of blood lipid by using lactobacillus and/or/) bifidobacterium only. Age of the research subjects was no less than 18 years old. Jadad score of the articles was higher than 3. After data exaction, Revman 5.3 software was adopted to conduct a Meta analysis on the extracted data. Results A total of 11 articles containing 871 subjects were included. Meta analysis showed that as compared with control groups, the consumption of lactobacillus and bifidobacterium could significantly decrease total blood cholesterol level (WMD=-0.45 mmol/L, 95%CI: -0.63 to -0.27 mmol/L, P<0.001) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level (WMD=-0.42 mmol/L, 95%CI: -0.46 to -0.38 mmol/L, P<0.001); the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion Lactobacillus and bifidobacterium have positive influences on metabolism of blood cholesterol in adults. |
