| Abstract: | Stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth（SHED）are a type of adult stem cells. SHED are extracted from human exfoliated deciduous teeth. The retrieval of the cells is relatively simple，non-invasive，and qualifies the basic principle of bioethics. In the meantime，SHED have strong proliferative capacity and multilineage differentiation capacity，and there is no risk of immune reactions or rejection reactions after transplantation due to their low immunogenicity. Moreover ，no immune suppressive therapy is needed after transplantation. These features make SHED an ideal source of cells for cellular therapy in regenerative medicine. This article reviews the research progress in their application in tissue regeneration and immunological regulationin in oral and maxillofacial region. |
