| Abstract: | The uropathogenic Escherichia coli strain 536 (O6:K15:H31) possesses pathogenicity islands which are incorporated into two tRNA genes, the selC and the leuX gene. The leuX gene influences the expression of different putative virulence factors. We demonstrate an effect of the leuX-specific tRNA on adherence and uropathogenicity. |
