Abstract: | Four hundred sixty-four fecal specimens were tested for rotavirus by three immunoassays, VIDAS Rotavirus (bioMérieux Vitek, Hazelwood, Mo.), Rotaclone (Cambridge Biotech Corporation, Worcester, Mass.), and Pathfinder Rotavirus (Sansfi Diagnostics Pasteur, Chaska, Minn.). Twenty-seven discordant specimens were evaluated by electron microscopy. The sensitivities, specificities, positive predictive values, and negative predictive values were 98, 99.3, 98.7, and 99%, respectively, for VIDAS Rotavirus; 100, 99, 98.1, and 100%, respectively, for Rotaclone; and 100, 92.4, 87.3, and 100%, respectively for Pathfinder Rotavirus. |
