The Therapeutic Effect Observation of MEBO Wound Ointment in Association with Qin Huang Tong Luo Tang in the Treatment of 21 Cases of Traumatic Ulcerations around Ankle

Objective To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of external MEBO Wound Ointment application in association with oral administration of Qin Huang Tong Luo Tang in the treatment of 21 cases of traumatic ulcerations around ankle. Method In accordance with the order of admission, 63 patients with traumatic ulcers around the ankle and foot area were randomized into three groups： one treatment group with 21 cases and two control groups with 21 cases for each） . The treatment group was treated with MEBO Wound Ointment topically in conjunction with the oral consumption of Qin Huang Tong Luo Tang; the two control groups were solely administered MEBO Wound Ointment or Qin Huang Tong Luo Tang. The treating duration lasted for 2 weeks. After that, patients in three groups were observed in terms of the emerging days of gran- ulation, the days of granulation growth up to the surrounding skin level, the color of granulation tissue and its growing sta- tus. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was 90.93%, the control group treated solely with MEBO Wound Ointment was 76. 2%, the control group treated solely with Qin Huang Tong Luo Tang was 71.43%, the difference among three groups having statistical significance （ P 〈 0.05 ） . The emerging days of granulation tissue （GT） and the days of granulation tissue growth up to the surrounding skin level of treatment group were apparently shorter than those of control groups （ P 〈 0. 05 ） ; in addition, the color of granulation tissue of treatment group was fresh and reddish with well - estab- lished blood circulation. Conclusion The topical administration of MEBO Wound Ointment in association with Qin Huang Tong Luo Tang in the treatment of traumatic ulcer around the ankle and foot area can promote the rapid growth of granulation tissue with apparently shortened healing time.
