The progression and perspective of atherosclerosis risk in communities study

Atherosclerosis Risk In Communities ( ARIC) study is the largest study of cardiovascular health in African Americans, funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute in 1987. The ARIC study investigates risk factors for heart disease and the connection between cardiovascular disease and cognition. Many ARIC’s discoveries have increased understanding of the causes of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The results make significant contributions to the field of cardiovascular disease prevention, and demonstrate the importance of population-based research to improve health and prevent disease.
