| Abstract: | The volatile oil of Cyperus rounds L. (VOOCRL) was found to possess marked CNS depression effect. It potentiated the hypnotic action of sodium pentobarbital in mice and the anaesthetic action of scopolamine in rabbits. Following intraperitoneal administration of VOOCRL, the normal body temperature in rats was lowered. In addition,VOOCRL also inhibited the contraction of isolated ileum of rabbits at the concentration of 20nl/ml. |
