A questionnaire study assessing the prevalence Of asthma with preschool childrenin in Xiuying District, Haikou city

Objective To estimate the prevalence of asthma with preschool children in Xiuying District,Haikou city,and provide epidemiological evidence for prevention and management of asthmatic children.Methods A survey was performed in 1280 preschool children from September to December 2010.The parents completed a standardized questionnaire made by National Asthma Collaborative Group in 2010.Results otal 94.45%（1209/1280） children finished the questionnaire.It showed that there were 2.56% children suffering from asthma,the ratio between male and female was 2.27：1.The prevalence of asthma for male was significant higher than female（P〈0.05）.There were 229 children（18.9%） who gave positive answer to one of items 1-6 in the questionnaire,and 54 patients（4.5%） positive to 4 out of 6 items.Conclusion The prevalence of asthma with preschool children in this district persistently increased.More attention should be paid on the prevention of asthma.
