苜蓿皂甙对胆固醇排泄和内皮细胞释放一氧化氮的影响

EFFECTS OF ALFALFA SAPONIN ON RAT CHOLESTEROL EXCRETION AND NITRIC OXIDE RELEASE FROM ENDOTHELIAL CELLS

Objective To study the effects of alfalfa saponin on rat cholesterol excretion and nitric oxide(NO) release from human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC).Methods The liver and bile cholesterol,total bile acid and the cholesterol excretion in the experimental hypercholesterolemic rats were determined.The level of NO was observed in HUVEC.Results Compared with hypercholesterolemia group,the liver cholesterol was significantly reduced( P <0.01),the total bile acid in bile was significantly increased( P <0.01) and the total steroids and acidic steroids in feces were significantly increased in alfalfa saponin group.Compared with normal control, the NO release of HUVEC was significantly increased in Alfalfa saponin group after treatment for 1 h,2 h or 4 h. Conclusion Alfalfa saponin can increase the cholesterol excretion in experimental rats and the NO release in HUVEC.Alfalfa saponin might be a promising hypocholesterolemic drug.
