Consequences of acute renal failure relevant to hepatic failure
Authors:M J Weston and  S P Wilkinson
Abstract:The onset of renal failure in patients with liver failure complicates an already deranged metabolic picture and may increase the retention of many potentially toxic substances. The risk to the patient of haemorrhage and infection is aggravated. Dialysis may correct the features of uraemia and, in acute liver failure at least, provide time for kidney as well as liver regeneration.
