Efficacy and safety of propranolo as auxiliary treatment for migraine

Objective： To explore the efficacy and safety of propranolo as auxiliary treatment of migraine.Methods： Eighty patients with migraine were randomly assigned to study groups and control group with 40 cases in each,which was treated with fluorine plus propranolo and flunarizine,respectively for 8 weeks.Changes in frequency,duration and degree of migraine attack before and after treatment were observed and compared between the two groups.Decrease in migraine attack frequency was used forefficiency evaluation. Results： Migraine attack frequency decreased in both groups after treatment; however, the rate of patients that Showed improvement was higher in the study group than that in the control group af ter 4 weeks＇ treatment, and this continued throughout the treatment course. The study group showed lower frequency, shorter duration and lighter degree of migraine attack after treatment comparing with that in the control group （P all 〈0.05）. There was no significant difference in adverse reactions betweenthe two groups （P〉0. 05）. Conclusion： Propranolo is toxicity free and can enhance the efficacy of fluorine in treatment of migraine.
