Abstract:After Modification of low density lipoprotein(LDL) by either malondialdehyde(MDA) or Cu2+,its thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS),lipid conjugated dienes,and relative electrophoretic mobility(REM) levels,and the fluorescence emission spectra were measured.There was a strong lipoperoxidative reaction during the Cu2+ modification but not in the MDA modification.The REM was found increased after both modifications which indicated that the negative charges on apo B-100 were obviously increased.The fluorescence emission spectra of modified LDL showed that the emission intensity was gradually increased as the modification reaction goes on but their maximum wavelength and the spectra patterns were not the same,this showed that the fluorescence chromophores were not identical.These findings may be of some significance in the study of modified LDL's antigenicity and scavenger receptor multiplicity.
