The Safety and Efficacy of Deployment about Star-Close Vascular Closure Device in NeuroInterventional Radiology Treatment |
| |
Abstract: | Objective:Obtaining safe and effective closure of the femoral access site following neurointerventional treatments can sometimes be challenging, especially in patients on anticoagulation or anti-platelet therapy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a percutaneous closure device that employs a nitinol clip-mediated closure strategy following neurointerventional treatments. Methods:A retrospective review of 304 patients who underwent neurointerventional procedures was performed. The safety and efficacy of the Star-Close device in patients undergoing first and reaccess punctures were evaluated.Femoral complications were classified as self-limited hematoma, hematoma requiring transfusion, pseudoaneurysm, infection, and other/major(vascular complication). Results:Of 344 sites in which starClose device was used,328 sites were reported to be sucessful(95.3%).Minor and major complications occurred in 4.4% and 0.3% of the patients, respectively. There was one major vascular complication.Repeated use was performed in 40 patients with 92.5% of success and a 7.5% minor complication rate. Conclusion:The Star-Close device achieves rapid and safe femoral arterial closure in patients, both for primary and secondary closure. |
