Abstract:Both SEM and TEM of the paraventricular organ have been made in 8 rats. The dendritic and axon terminals have been observed in all the materials ,and the perikarya in some materials. Paraventricular organ is an important area of the hypothalamus. The axons of CSF-con-tacting neurons of this area may secrete some bioactive materials to take part in the humaral regulation. The dendritic terminals and perikarya probably receive informations from the CSF to complete the hypothalamo-hypophyseal cirle.
