Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of small needle knife combined with compressive moxibustion with moxa stick in the treatment of cervical vertigo. Methods A total of 40 patients with cervical vertigo were randomly divided into treatment group and control group using a random number table. The 20 patients in the treatment group were treated with needle knife combined with compressive moxibustion with moxa stick, and the 20 patients in the control group were given routine oral Western medicine treatment. The cervical vertigo symptom and function evaluation scale was used to observe the changes in scores of all symptoms after treatment, and the patients were followed up at 3 months after the treatment to evaluate the long-term efficacy. Results There was a significant difference in the distribution of clinical outcomes between the two groups (P<0.05). The treatment group showed significant increases in the scores on all subscales of the cervical vertigo symptom and function evaluation scale immediately and at 3 months after the treatment (P<0.05); the control group showed no significant change in headache score, but had significant increases in the total score and the scores on all the other subscales (P<0.05). In the control group, there were no significant changes in the scores of headache, daily life, and work from immediately after treatment to the follow-up at 3 months after the treatment (P>0.05), hile there were significant changes in the total score and the scores on all the other subscales (P<0.05). In the treatment group, there were no significant changes in the scores of dizziness, headache, mental health, and social adaptability from immediately after treatment to the follow-up at 3 months after the treatment (P>0.05), while there were significant changes in the total score and the scores on all the other subscales (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed significant increases in the total score and the scores on most of the subscales immediately and at 3 months after the treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion In patients with cervical vertigo, needle knife combined with compressive moxibustion with moxa stick can significantly reduce the symptoms including dizziness, neck and shoulder pain, and headache and improve the abilities of daily life and work, with a significantly better clinical effect than oral Western medicine alone and good long-term efficacy.
