从古论今谈中医气象医学与防治温疫——“非典”

“非典”的肆虐正在震撼着世界。但是从另一个角度上,却正在彻底改变着人们沿袭已久的不良生活习惯与整体卫生环境。同时,也在向医学界提出了严肃的课题：“类似温疫的流行,是否可预测及有效防治”。历史上有多次类似“非典”的温疫发生,而中医气象病理医学五运六气学,及温病学对于分析预测疾病的发生及有效的救治有独特的理论方法与治疗经验。本人就中国历史上几次温疫大流行,做了一下简单的回顾并特别强调指出乾隆癸未年1793年,发生在中国河北北京一带的温疫大流行,其中医学气象病理医学因素与今年2003年的医学气象病理学因素是完全一样的。而当时余师愚根据中医气象病理学五运六气学说分析创制清温败毒饮重用“生石膏”,救活了无数病人的宝贵经验,对于今天“非典”发展趋向的评估及救治,提供了非常宝贵的借鉴。

Integrating ancient wisdoms into contemporary sciences:Holistic View in TCM epidemic febrile diseases (Wen-Bing) for SARS pathology, remedy, prevention

The global threat of SARS has almost paralyzed a major portion of the world.It is, however, a wake_up call for all citizens to give our existing environment, social and medical systems, life patterns, etc. a timely reflection. To our world medical community, it is also a serious challenge to commit to effective remedies and even prevention strategy for a worldwide epidemic like SARS. Epidemics such as SARS have been recorded for thousands of years in Chinese history. Holistic View advice was sourced as early as the Medical Canon.The advice of Holistic View is to follow the "Laws of Nature", and be aware of/utilize the "Environmental Energetic Effect from the Astro_Planetary Seasonal Variations"(EEE/APSV). It is a "gift of love" from our ancestors to have well_documented medical journals with principles for remedies and clinical experience with the major epidemics in Chinese history.In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the symptomology/pattern of SARS in 2003 belongs to epidemic febrile diseases. TCM includes EEE/APSV for disease diagnosis. This Holistic View not only assists in analysis, but also guides to the remedy, prognosis, and even prevention strategy. In his article, We reviewed and analyzed the major epidemic febrile diseases in Chinese history to remind us of the importance of Holistic View for guidance to effective remedies. For this particular epidemic of SARS,the EEE/APSV is the same as in 1793, Beijing, China. From 3/22 (Spring Equinox) to 5/22 (Little Fullness), the abnormal "Exceeding Heat" in the environment could cause serious "Wen_Bing"(epidemic febrile diseases) Epidemic. According to Master YU Shi_yu's comment on the epidemic febrile diseases in 1793, "When the environmental Evil Heat attacks the human body and penetrates into Stomach with continuing spreading/retaining to all 12 meridians, it causes the strong symptoms of Warm/Heat Disease." In the major epidemic febrile diseases in 1793, Master YU designed the golden herbal formula, Qingwen Baidu Yin, with generous dosage of raw Gypsum, as the key remedy. Master YU's successful approach with the Holistic View, in the 1793 epidemic demonstrated a precious model and guide to both pathology/remedy for 2003 SARS.The principle remains unchanged, as epidemics change.
