糖尿病初病多为实证，以湿热为主，治宜清利湿热；久病多为虚证，治宜补脾益肾。无水肿型是糖尿病早期证型，治宜益气养阴，滋补肝肾；有水肿型是糖尿病肾病早期，治宜健脾益肾，益气行水。指出：血瘀贯穿全过程，对多种肝肾阴虚，瘀血阻滞，需对症治疗。
