Influence of Paliperidone Extended-Release Tablets on the Social Function and Quality of Life in Patients with Schizophrenia

OBJECTIVE To investige the influence of paliperidone extended-release tablets on the social function and quality of life in patients with schizophrenia to provide reference for its clinical application.METHODS Double-blind controlled study design was adopted.140 Patients were randomly assigned to study group to receive paliperidone extended-release tablets(70 patients) or control group to receive ziprasidone(70 patients) for 8 weeks.RESULTS The Overall Quality Of Life Rating Scale(GQOLI-74) scores of the two groups were significantly improved after treatment(P<0.01).The GQOLI-74 factor scores and total scores of paliperidone group were significantly higher than those of ziprasidone group(P<0.05).After treatment,the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS) scores of both groups were decreased significantly(P<0.01).The PANSS scores of paliperidone group were significantly lower than those of ziprasidone group(P<0.05).Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS)showed that both groups had no serious side effects with no significant differences(P>0.05).CONCLUSION Paliperidone extended-release tablets have better efficacy than ziprasidone and can improve the quality of life and social function in patients with schizophrenia(P<0.05).
