Clinical Study of Acupuncture on Sphenopalatine Ganglion Combined with Umbilical Paste on Allergic Rhinitis

Objective:To explore and analyze the clinical effect of acupuncture on sphenopalatine ganglion combined with umbilical paste on allergic rhinitis. Methods:A total of 132 patients with allergic rhinitis were recruited and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,66 cases in each group. The control group received oral administration of loratadine tablets and mometasone furoate nasal spray during acute attack,while the observation group was treated with acupuncture on sphenopalatine ganglion combined with umbilical paste besides the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment the patients were evaluated by rhinitis symptom scale(total nasal symptom score,TNSS) and rhinitis concomitant symptom scale(total nonnasal symptom score,TNNSS),serum level of IgE was measured,rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire(RQLQ) score was evaluated,and the therapeutic effect in both groups was compared for analysis. Results:After 4 weeks of treatment,TNSS score and TNNSS score,serum levels of IgE and RQLQ score of the observation group decreased more significantly than these of the control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05);the effective rate in the observation group was 87.88%,while that in the control group was 75.76%,with statistical difference between both groups(P<0.05).Conclusion:In the treatment of allergic rhinitis,acupuncture on sphenopalatine ganglion combined with umbilical paste can significantly improve symptoms of patients with rhinitis and improve their quality of life.
